Seems like Garry is quite popular! I'll post as soon as I get home in about two hours.

That's it!

Sitting down rather awkwardly, it came to him, the unmistakable resemblance: she reminded him of his younger sister, Karina. The question of Aria's age or familiarity never once entered Garry's mind, mainly because he never found the information relevant at the time. Now, placing his bag beside him and taking a resting position of tilting against the window, the question ran rampant in his mind. Who was she? Was she one of Karina's friends or from somewhere else?

Either way, he was about to find out. An acquaintance merely by name, he took a deep breath. Despite his anxiety, he appeared surprisingly calm and even despite the uncomfortable feeling, he felt quite calm. Taking a few sips of his hot chocolate and glancing over at the clock on the wall, he intently listened to the girl speak.

Of an AP biology project. Of his AP biology project. Of her AP biology project.

And that's when it all clicked. Aria was one of those people who would occasionally interact with Garry, much to his own surprise. Many times, the two had run into each other in the hallways and she would mumble a quick "hi" and otherwise seemed flustered. Maybe she was shy, that's what he had honestly deduced it down to. Meh, he could learn a thing or two from extroverts. Too bad.

She was a smart kid, smart for age especially. Anyone looking at her textbooks or notes could guess that. Like Garry, she was already in college level classes. Was it a choice unlike his own ranking? He wouldn't ask. The question was still presented to him however, an option, a choice. To work with this girl. Was she suggesting that she wanted to . . work with him?

That was certainly shocking. Hardly anyone in the right mind would ask the quiet kid who would stalk off to a local maid cafe in his freetime to work with them on a project that was almost half their grade. He took another sip of his hot chocolate, lowering the mug with a single finger, "Well . . ," his eyes met hers with curiosity, though his instinct and almost fear of socialization told him otherwise, "If you don't have a partner, I'd be more than willing to take you up on the offer."
Garry let out a sigh, watching as someone trailed off with his order. He glanced out the window for a brief moment, the horrible image of Karina finding him here crossed his mind. He cringed in horror. Not only would his kid sister laugh, she would also take a seat beside him and talk his ear off. He leaned back in his seat, a brief sigh. Observant as he may be, he noticed that girl -- the one with similiar tastes as him -- approach his table.

Thinking quickly and calmly, he threw his arm over his book casually, sliding it across the table and into his lap. He looked up at the girl -- she was younger than him by a few years, but he knew her name like most of the other regulars: Aria. Every once and a while, he'd catch her glancing over at him, maybe with mild curiosity. Most people did that, considering that Garry himself never spoke. He wasn't exactly popular, but he wasn't too much of an outcast either.

He found a balanced medium and stayed there.

But now, Aria had his attention. Letting her speak, he watched intently, a blank look on his face. He wondered how awkward he looked on the receiving end, ". . you wouldn't have to be all alone over here." Wasn't she sitting alone as well? Well, he didn't particularly "want" to join her, but he had been coming to this cafe for weeks and no breakthrough with his social anxiety. Not that he had expected to do so, but Karina had ---

" . . Alright," he said rather quietly, grabbing his bag from the seat beside him and lugging it over his shoulder. He wasted no time shoving the sappy novel in an open pouch within the bag itself and grabbing his mug of hot chocolate, " . . lead the way, Aria."

That reminded him. . how did she know his name?

The hot chocolate burned his mouth. Garry wondered why he always ordered it here, it was always too damned hot. Or maybe, he was always too damned stupid. Either way, it was sweet. And speaking of sweet, he was quite personally craving something sweet. Although having a massive sweet tooth, he would never live a day to actually admit it. Putting his head up from the particularly sappy romance novel, he looked around to see the happenings:

Usual flirting. That one dark kid that all the waitresses fawned over. The girl who always ordered the same thing as himself -- that needed to stop, by the way -- he needed to switch things up himself. The man who always wore a military coat for whatever reason. And then there was the not so playful jealousy that ran rampant. Mischievous natures. To an extent, Garry almost found it cute.

Hesitating, he stopped one of the busy waitresses/waiters, "Excuse me, I'd like a slice of strawberry shortcake," he mumbled, almost flustered. God, he hated ordering from here -- for obvious reasons, though he'd never live a day to show it. After all, he was too stoic for that.
Pardon, but isn't this Mistic's Roleplay? They are the GM.
Excellent. I should have a CS up in the near future.
Sorry. I would've played male waiter, but I couldn't see my particular muse fitting for the role.

But thanks for the acceptance.
He knew them by name. Some of them, even by face. The regulars, the waitresses, the waiters.

The truth was that Garry was hardly the type to find himself in a maid cafe. He found the idea obscure, maybe even a little perverted. But even then, there was something . . relaxing about the atmosphere. It wasn't quiet like the library, but it was soft and maybe even a little warm at time. To admit to that would be more than embarrassing for him.

But most days after school, here he sat. In the very corner of the cafe, at a specific vantage point, able to watch all the happenings. Sometimes, he had a book with him. Like now he did, a romance novel. He did have a soft spot for them, but truly, he would just read anything that his kid sister, Karina, would hand to him. Some of them were good, others were awful. There was a particular author he did enjoy, however.

Someday.

He took a sip of his hot chocolate and near hid behind his book and watched the bustling activity of the cafe. It felt lively as usual -- surely something exciting would be bound to happen -- it usually did.
