Actually duck, I said the tears in the milky way were mostly minor. There are tears in other areas of the universe where the storms break through and wreak havoc (The Collective accidently crashed the two universes together in their attempts to end the war.) Its because The eye of the storm, so to speak, in the secondary universe are coordinates matching up with the milky way, thus the majority of storms are not in the milky way, save one or two 'freak' occurrences. Essentially its a sort of post apocalyptic situation... Set to return to normal in 500,000 years

Ion Storms could work, but it depends. It's likely to stop the regimental firing lines for cropping back up in every single battle, but if someone does want to do that (and there are situations where it might be a viable plan) then it sort of kicks them up the arse.
The Wyvern proceeded into the... Sneeze powder mines, turning his head back, curling it over the top of his right wing in order to see backwards "Well met" He called "But if you are going to help, get in here" He turned his head forwards, concentrating. He could see fairly well through the growing darkness given his eyes design, but he doubted the others could. A small wisp of flame escaped from his lips, illuminating the darkness as he went forwards slowly and tentatively, almost as though he expected something to jump out and try to murder him on the stop.
Downsized the land forces by 6500. I'd like to point out grunts are generally ineffective and are basically cannon fodder/meat shields

Ship Name: CCS Class Battle Cruiser Shade of Tyranny
|Universe of Origin: Halo Universe
|Method of Transfer (inc. damage sustained during transfer/current supplies): Slipspace accident. Those stories about the ships which vanish in slipspace, never to be seen again? The Shadow of Tyranny just discovered what happens to them, they get tossed through the fabric of space and time, breaching the walls of the universe. Luckily, the Shade of Tyranny has arrived in a universe where the rules of physics are still the same and thus their ship hasn't been randomly destroyed, their bodies haven't melted nor have they met any other nasty end.
As with all slip space accidents, the damage is extensive. The Energy Projectors are heavily damaged, only one is still able to be fired and only on it's medium and low settings, not the high setting used for glassing planets. It's reactors are functioning at 76.6% and one of it's store rooms has literally disappeared, taking with it the majority of their anti-matter charges. Some of the armour plating on it's port side has been torn off, and two of it's port hanger bays have received heavy damage. The two fins on its port side have been torn off, there have been significant losses in life (Much to Luka's dismay, there are still living Brutes on board). It has also lost the majority of it's escape pods as many jetisoned for unknown reasons during the transfer, leaving just enough escape pods to carry about 310 individuals if they attempt to maximise the usage of space, which is nothing compared the crews number. This has left his fleet to fall to the control of another Sanghelli, and Luka is hellbent on finding a way back into the war zone

|Ship Specifications:

|Crew: 5,000 + 15,000 (Fully staffed) 5,000+7,902 (Current Staff) 12,902 (Current total)
Crew composition: 2141 Elites, 1051 Brutes, 2352 Jackals, 2339 Drones, 4182 Grunts, 508 Engineers, 329 Hunters
Additionally there a Stealth Corvette (The Stealth Corvette is in the second port dock, which is depressuried and thus requires EVA units in order to reach it for the moment. It has also lost it's shield generator and weaponry it's stealth systems remain operational)
It contains three Scarabs (The Fourth, fifth and sixth were lost in slipspace and the third scarab is damaged and requires repairs), 50 Spirits, 50 Phantoms, 121 Seraphs. 30 Choppers (Again, much to Luka's dismay at the savage vehicles) 20 Prowlers, 80 Ghosts, 40 Spectres, 41 Revenants, 32 Wraiths, 57 Banshee's, 100 Banshee Intercepters (IE: Space Banshee's) Total: 624

Major Characters (More may be added in time, and minor characters will come and go without being added here. I am not going to add Flipyap the Grunt who appeared for two posts and then became another faceless mook xD)

+Name: Luka Loramai
+Job: Zealot (Fleet Master)
+Description: Muscular and standing at roughly 7'7 tall, his mandables have many feral looking teeth, and he is missing a tooth on his lower right mandable that was knocked out during sparring, along with a scar on his chest he recieved from the same fight. Despite being an enemy of humanity, Luka has shown a willingness to cooperate with them when there is a mutual goal or objective, and holds a grudging respect for the humans. He has also shown a willingness to permit those serving under him to use human weaponry when there is no other weaponry available, an act that would usually warrant a charge of heresy. Some have called his faith into question as a result of this, but his actions in the Human-Covenant war have been louder than these voices thus far, and those under his command vouch for his zeal. Being a swordsman, he took the "ai" suffix to his name instead of the standard "ee" when he entered military service with the covenant.

+Name: Fal Refumai
+Job: Zealot (Field Marshal)
+Description: Slightly taller than Luka, with a more muscled body and standing at roughly 7'9 tall, his mandables are unscythed and contain many sharp, pointed teeth. The definition of a zealot, Refumai holds an excessive zeal that makes his own lance nearly unbreakable in morale. Despite Refumai's excessive zeal, he has formed a close bond with Loramai to the point Refumai is willing to risk his own zeal being questioned by vouching for Loramai. He serves as Luka's second in command and fills the important role of Field Marshal. Fal Refumaj is also eager to return to the war, though mostly because he knows his role has now fallen to a Brute Chieften and would rather his beating heart torn from his chest than to know that savage was in charge of his men

+Name: Ripa Lodamee
+Job: General
+Description: Slightly smaller than the other two high ranked officers at 7'5, but with a much larger ego, Ripa Lodamee is a skilled tactician and warrior... and unfortunately, he knows it. Even for a Sangheili his ego is crushing, he loves to tell proud boasts about his own exploits, while claiming responsibility for others successes and down playing any achievements he can't claim credit for. While the other two see only the need to return, Ripa Lodamee sees a new oppurtunity in this galaxy. A galaxy that they could dominate. He disagree's with the other two that they should return to their own universe in order to continue the Human-Covenant war, thinking that it is all well in hand, and instead believes they should find away to bring more forces here and conquer this universe instead.
Its not nessercairly about gods existing, there's god like entities in many sci fi series, its the large number and scale of interferences that keep cropping up and inconsistency in their behavioir that's troubling
By the way, I suspect the collective and any other such survivor races will end up doing some very controversial things. For example those refugees are a huge drain on supplies... A drain which likely can't be supported...
Well, with a huge number reduction we will hopefully see proper battle posts, so there's a chance for our elite units to stand out and perform elite actions, while uber units such as the Assembly walkers will actually be powerful and when one is seen it'll be more like marines having to fight with a scarab from halo than a god emperor having to swat a fly

As for ship types, I see no problem with that a Collective vessels are already organised into type. We should use real life classes, like you suggested, and for capital ships, designations like battle cruiser or super carrier. Then we have to specify our fleets and their ship types, so we dont end up with generic evil fleet one vs generic good fleet two

Also, given the smaller number of planets, war would be a risk vs reward situation, and more emphasis would be on invading and conquering to acquire new space and resources than the current destroy as much as you can scenario
Good that fits well

Basically, the Collective got stuck in an endless war, inter universal stuff, specifically in their slipspace, which js vitally important to them. This resulted in the Secondary Universal Cataclysm Disaster when the Triarii attempted to use a new piece of technology. This resulted in insanely dangerous storms in the Secondary Universe, thus rendering transport through the slip space to the other galaxies implausible. The Collective was unable to remove these Storms, which are estimated to end in approximately half a million years time. This also resulted in a new solar phenomenon known as 'Tears'. These tears are relatively rare but extremely dangerous when they appear, a literally hole in the fabric of space time as the barriers between the Primary and Secondary universe collapse and sections of the secondary universe leak through. In the Milky Way (and likely several other parts of the universe) these tears are relatively harmless due to the lack of anything that will leak through. Thus all that happens in these tears are the laws of physics being replaced by the other universes laws. These tears are also minor on size, most barely the size of Jupiter. These tears, having little energy flowing through them, usually close themselves after a shirt time
In many other parts of the universe however, it is a different story. The tears crack open and the storms leqk through from the other universe, forcing the crack wider as they do. These are larger, some being many light years in size. It is estimated that these will only close once the associated storms have cleared up. There is no accurate way of telling how much damage has been done in the other galaxies as a result of these tears.
With a collapse of their intergalactic capabilities, the Collective could not defend its extra galactic holdings, and as the tears leaked Storms through it became implausible even to brave the long trek across the gaps between galaxies, lest entire fleets be consumed. These tears weakened not just the barrier between the primary and secondary universes, but other universes as well, and this allowed for the arrival of more extra universal entities, and the Collective was locked in a losing battle for many, many years. Tens of millennia passed before the threat finally passed, and what was left of the Collective, drastically reduced in size, man power etcetera, stood upon an island of corpses in a sea of blood. Although crushed, they had held. The audio file of the Greater Good prevails played through the streets for the first time in living memory... But there was no celebration, no joy. Everywhere one looked they would see death, they would see decay. Many had known only war, and it was branded the single most horrific war in Collective History.
For the cycle following, an Umbrae Populus song, dium'zul, dominated much of the requested audio files.
Excerpt: "Dweade a doi e'tol, no'l Card'aid bachk er soli'on rro nod ywr, mi dium ond zai, hurl'wym er pam gollais aid... "
Translated "Tell me you shall not come back, love since you have fell away, I have only the darkest of shadows now, no summer for my souls desire..."
Followed closely by perhaps the oddest trend in Collective history, a Saeva Simius song.
What destroyed us? Because it might fit with what I have for the Collectives downfall already
I'm adverse to gods even existing, let alone trashing the universe, its sci fi not fantasy
It took the Triarii 10,000 years to regain modern day tech from Stone age tech, which took humans hundreds of thousands of years, I don't think they are too interested in decoding and would rather just replace it with their new gizmos... But I'd be very surprised if you needed to decode it anyway, I thought we would keep our languages...
Dumped the light cruisers, destroyed the weaponry on the Stealth corvette, lowered its reactor functionality further. Changed to a CCS Class
