Moon A-3

The two derelict ships didn't activate at all, but the one that was clearly infected quickly moved to its task above the planet and lowered down towards it, breaching its atmosphere and hovering down. The growth sacks on its under side burst, sending out many dozens of spore forks which fell to the surface, and releasing the murky green mist into the air, which quickly thinned ti the point of invisibility and scattered on the wind. The remaining growth pods on its sides remained intact, presumably either unmatured or simply waiting for the right moment. The segment doors in the biomass opened to reveal the ships interior, and a dozen battle forms, or possibly thinker forms, leapt out to the planet below. Following them were more spore forms, which dropped down to the planet below.

The two ships from outpost A-5 entered the system from the far edge, gliding towards the planet. The invasion had begun, backup had come for the ship that was infecting the planet.

Bide our time in wait, set the scene and position the Bishop, offer the Pawn, let them take the bait. They do not expect us to watch and wait, they don't know our cunning, our methods.
Their eyes of light shall die, Wight knights spread our plague
Maybe then we can upgrade the sensors...

Then if I manage to get in range of the Mind, I'll make sure to only use partial kill. That way it functions, it's just in a crapton of pain, presuming they can feel pain.ohand

Sleep? It:s only 13:25 where I live xD

The brain isn't dead, it wasn't damaged. It might temporarily go 'off' the hive network when the weapon fires, but afterwards, it's still there. It still has the capacity, it's still the Mind or whatever, the mental part of it is just dead. No activity or signals. More like a man who won't wake up, rather than a man whose heart just stopped.

Well, if there's no signals wouldn't it still stand that it would be like if you were in the middle of a conversation and all of a sudden the person stopped moving, stopped talking, stopped responding or doing anything at all? I can see any form with a brain, or any spore form that has infected a host with a working brain, working out that the hives mind was no longer functional rather quickly. I imagine I might take a minute at the very most, because of there's no activity and signals it wouldn't be participating in the hive mind any more, which would only make sense if it was defective, destroyed or out of range, prompting the construction of a new mind

Outpost A-5

"A lack of vigilance can be fatal..."

The ships turned, and jumped out system, a deep resounding laughter echoing from within in them. There was soon nothing left to tell of their presence but the loose green mist that floated around the system and would slowly disperse given time. It swirled around the station and past the Sazkarjhit and Eternal Union ships, moving past them and glimmering as it flowed along any shielding and off the other end, before moving out of their sight and hassling them no more, slowly spreading out and moving away until it appeared to dissipate.
And so, everything seemed to return to normal, or at least, there was no longer a ship filled with alien parasites encamped on the edge of the system.

Moon N-3
(I'll do some shizzle, I guess)

There were two small ships on the edge of the system, apparently long since abandonned by their crew, and a third which was moving around a nearby planet, which was seemingly covered in thick jungle. The third ship had bulbous sacks of skin growing on several parts of it, each with dozens of small spore sacks growing on it. It seemed to stop and hold still when the other ship appeared, and hung there in orbit, waiting...

If you find them, and if you do find them, they will fight back. If you're set on isolating me and attacking just me with a giant amount of hivemind minions, then I'd be okay, if I can at least get the chance for aid from other people, such as the friendly robots that are the opposite of your hostile organics. The exact opposite, actually. I'll even support it if I've got the Hivemind on one side, and the... Auxillium Collective, I think, on the other side, with the Valks as a sort of strategic point. After all, with the disrupter weapon, one could effectively stun the hivemind, disrupting the whole linked-y-ness, and by using it on the Mind itself, it would stop it. It wouldn't be dead, so there wouldn't be the need of making a new one, so really, the Hivemind would effectively come to a complete standstill in terms of organization, and the make-new-Mind instinct wouldn't kick in cause it's still there, just not giving any orders.

The minds are not a battle field unit, they're not easy to reach. And wouldn't the fact that it is now brain dead mean it isn't transmitting orders or signals? So wouldn't it be considered dead or at least damaged and rebuilt?

Electrolocation. Not echolocation. They aren't as sensitive to sound, they around sensitive to mass and movement. If they were to have pilots, large battles and weapons that fire loads of projectiles, whether turrets that fire hundreds of high-speed projectiles, or turrets that fire loads of missiles or flak. That's why they mainly just have lasers and that disruption cannon. Of course, by the time someone figures out that "Hey! That screws up your brain and kills your very mind!", you'll be dead, and unable to send a message. Unless, of course, it was in a big fleet battle, in which there will be nearly half a dozen of them, and will be sweeping through you. That's a good way of forcing peace. Anyone who attacks just *boop*! brain dead.

Its going to be really good to get my hands on your tech... Brain dead food, no that doesn't sound like it can run away... Hehe. I can force real peace...

Still working on that. The sense is based off of a series called "Trilisk _____", which you can, at the very least, find on the Amazon bookstore.I'm thinking maybe like an advanced form of electrolocation, like what sharks do except a thousand times stronger. Dunno yet.

*Echolocation, right? I think sharks also use the water currents too.

Yeah, sounds like it might work. Might confer a dreadful disadvantage though, it'd be horrible if there was a continuous loud noise, I think they'd suffer horribly in high noise levels, like bats do. Lol, I can imagine a parody where their enemies defeat them through blasting out non stop death metal xD

A mass-detection sense. Unless you're like one of those phantom multidimensional creatures that don't need to use a core, you have mass. And mass is what is detected. It's kinda like a mental map of everything around you, limited only by large amounts of dense material. In a cave, you could sense any tunnels that are near the tunnel that you are in, and very far down the tunnel itself.

So... How does it work? XD Detecting mass is all well and good, but how does it detect the mass?

I already have the thing that kills the sentient mind. With the hivemind, something to just disrupt organic matter would be needed. The Valks have survived what with destroy another race; they can certainly fight off a hivemind thing. They are much more aware of their surroundings than all the other creatures, since they can sense the area around them. Can't ambush if they see through walls, huh?

The disrupted can be gathered and built

I believe your "see through walls" and such relies on other senses, which can also be avoided. I think ambushes can still be set up with some minor changed targets... I think we share similar senses... Except I get to use the hosts eyes as well if they are intact, or add my own onto my creations >:)

Also, wouldn't you have to shoot every mind, thinker form and sub brain in existence to destroy the hive consciousness? (And then hope the hive doesn't just recycle the useless forms and rebuild a new central consciousness). Unless its an AoE thing, but I presume that would merely effect a specific area and also screw yourself over if you entered it... I feel pretty safe
