The Abh are supposedly thrice stronger than Romans who are already stronger than normal humans, with their ability to interface with their own computers. I'd say they'd be useful.

Also, I smell a galactic council comin round. ... I can also smell a "No Abh invited" sign.

1: Strength role already fulfilled by Hara-Ka and the Transhuman forces
2: They interface with their own computer only, useless to the collective unless adaptable and even then the role I already fulfilled by the AI/SI and partly by the Triarii themselves

They're likely to end up like the humans I think, relegated to being a spare part which is kept around simply to be messed with incase future technology opens up suitable avenues.
The Collective hasn't allied with the Romans so much as attached themselves like a parasite to their war in order to take advantage of it and steal Abh worlds to experiment on the population and decide whether augmented Abh would be useful to the collective or whether they should simply be recycled into new synths.

Such fun, I do believe this is going to end rather badly for the poor old Abh
<Snipped quote by darkwolf687>

Yeah. I don't have any interest in dealing with the Collective, for precisely that reason.

I wasn't aware we were offering a choice to our victims now... Though after the invasion commences our victims may find themselves surprisingly lacking of the wish for a choice muhahaha...

Speaking of which

Duck, any alterations to the plan or are we good to go and collect some Abh? :D
Doing some things with a sheet, in the meantime, anyone interested in having a medium-sized passive civ near them that is fully composed of sentient plants?

*Collective leaders stop, turn and face the civilisation of sentient plants...* Oh, Oh, Oh! We don't have a race of sentient plants yet, lets get some *Redirects fleets as they all let out a rehearsed evil laugh*
The Collective can be extremely aggressive if they think the species would be useful to them when subsumed.
name: Konahriik

appearance: He had two horns on his head that will grow to become two large, impressive curved horns but for the moment are relatively stubby. His eyes are emerald green and his claws are long and sharp. He has purple/black scales with a streak of dark bronze on his belly. He is slightly larger than other dragons and slightly stronger as a result. However while he has some qualities dragons might find attractive in their mates, he is something that most dragons simply find revolting. Konahriik is a Wyvern; He has two legs and two wings rather than the usual four legs and two wings. The function of his front two legs is performed by his wings instead. This is considered by many dragons to be wrong and revolting, mutilated even. This is a genetically recessive trait, though a significant number of dragons are unknowingly carriers.
dragon name: VulViingKonhahriik
personality: He is rather cynical of the world around him and has a large inferiority complex. Due to his treatment as a hatchling he has learnt to defend himself and isn't afraid to face threats head on. Although he is capable of being very caring, he rarely if ever gets a chance to show this as most shun him. He is willing to talk to nearly anyone who is willing to listen and when he does get to talk he does so in droves due to usually being ignored. While it is hard to earn his trust and admiration he is fiercely loyal to those close to him... Perhaps too loyal and maybe even servile. He can be very pedantic at times.

age: 169 (Converted to human age he would be 16 going on 17)

Skills\Abilities\elements:
Elements: Life, Death
Fast flight: The Wyvern has a few small advantages over other dragons in terms of flight speed; its weight is decreased owing to the lack of the front set of legs and its wingspan is increased, along with a small change in the wings actual design. This means that Wyverns can actually fly faster than the majority of their more common brethren.
Konahriik is slightly larger and stronger than the average dragon and as such should not be taken lightly in combat
Life drain/restore: A very rare ability among dragons that is widely feared, although it is more common among Wyverns, is the ability to control the life force of themselves and the world around them. Note that life must always buy life; Life force cannot be created or destroyed, only transferred. The more greedy Wyverns may attempt to transfer it to themselves, growing to terrifying sizes and becoming extremely powerful. Dragons have a very large amount of life force and most animals very little. A few Wyverns of myth and legend have tainted the image of Wyverns as "energy vampires" that feed off the life force of others, which is partly true. This ability can be used to raise the dead however it does not place the risen under the Wyverns control in anyway. When draining a dragon of its life the target will gradually become weaker and slower and will eventually succumb to the attack and die.

bio: As mentioned earlier, VulViingKonahriik is a wyvern; the treatment of a Wyvern can vary depending on the area; however in the Northern Lands where Konahriik is from Wyverns are seen as cursed and punished for their parents crimes; Many believe that Wyverns exist only to bring misery and death to their 'pure' dragon counterparts (which probably arose from the Wyverns inclination towards the rarer 'elements' of Death and decay) and as such are usually given negative or threatening names. Other believe that Wyverns steal dragon eggs and either eat them or turn the unborn hatchlings into Wyverns. Beliefs in most other areas are similar to this and thus Wyverns face extreme persecution. Few Wyverns survive childhood in the northern lands, greatly reducing their already meek numbers. As genetics are not known and hereditary factors are little understood, most avoid mating with the Wyverns as it is widely thought that mating with a Wyvern will produce another Wyvern.
Konahriik has fled the north in the hopes of escaping persecution for his condition...

family: None who openly acknowledged him except his other who is the only reason he is alive. She is the one who told him to flee south after an incident made the north even more dangerous than it already was for him

weakness:
Due to the design of the Wyvern, notably the absence of the front leg and thus the somewhat awkward adaptation of the wings into legs, they generally move slower over the ground than regular dragons. This also means that crippling a wing impairs him now only in the air but also on the ground. This is only compounded by Konahriiks larger than average size and thus him being more cumbersome on the ground them the average dragon
Mating makes a Wyvern lose control of life force... With females taking much of their partners life force and male Wyverns giving much of their own to their partner, thus making the female stronger, more energetic and even longer lived. This is likely an evolutionary measure to help transmit the trait by ensuring that the female has the strength to carry and birth the child, given how rare mating is for Wyverns This makes male Wyverns like Konahriik weak after mating... And thus makes them easier to capture or kill. As a result, male Wyverns do not engage in mating lightly; they have to trust their partners completely as they are making themselves extremely vulnerable and may become dependent upon their partners protection for a period of time afterwards while they recuperate. Related to this, but not entirely the same, is that when enraged they often begin to drain life energy without realising from their surroundings, which can cause them to hurt their allies and friends.

There was a silence for a prolonged period of time before the Collective ships responded. A deep, vocoded voice grated through the communications channel. The Collective thrived on it's image as a single, omnipotent force. It generated fear in its foes and served as a basic form of psychological warfare. It was a 'Collective' and this image was vital to it's strategy. It was clear to the Abh even from this short message that the Collective had a very detached view of the situation and certainly weren't joining the Romans for any moral reasons or convictions.
"The Collective has chosen the course of action best suited to advancing its own aims. This is one is Fleet Master Gaius Cornicen, shipmaster of the Dux. Identify yourselves."

The numerous collective personnel all slammed their right fists against their chestplates the moment the Princess introduced herself to them, which caused a loud crashing noise as fists smashed against armoured chests. Fleet Master Tiberius Corvus nodded slowly and approached the hologram, examining it before speaking. Quickly, the opaque black peeled back on his visor, making it transparent from the outside. It revealed his thick grey skin and noseless face with its small, tightly drawn mouth and large, glossy black eyes that reflected her face in them. There was a thin trim of orange around them and when he blinked this thin orange iris closed into the center of his eyes in a spiral before his eyelids would close sideways. These eyes slowly ran up and down Aurora's body, examining her and her armour intently

"Greetings Aurora vi Italia, this one is honoured to meet a specimen such as yourself. I do not believe their citizens shall be a problem. I have watched my Hara-ka associates..." He gestured to the Synth Soldiers surrounding him "...smash their way through the concrete buildings of the humans and turn their enemies into bloody pulps." He moved slowly forwards and away from his cohort "Besides that, there is a way to make their wish to resist completely... irrelevant. You see, the sentient mind is a tinderbox of electrical charges most can only begin to understand. Now, most brains are but receivers, but some are... advanced, sending and receiving charges as they choose.."

He moved forwards towards the hologram and took a small dull grey device from his side and held it out. The hologram of a strange alien device appeared. It had a circular base with three pentagon indents, two of which were filled by two large cylinders and the third of which was clearly designed for an occupant, perhaps the devices controller. From this base rose a spire of metal with several metal tubes moving up from the base and connecting to the various parts of the spire and on the top it split into two prongs. "This is the Psionic Beacon. With it, we Triarii can send any message we want. We will construct this device everywhere. In the end the Abh will be ours. Mind, body, and if you like, soul."

He adjusted himself and moved even closer towards the hologram, placing his own metal projector inside the holographic planet. There was a flash and a few moments later he withdrew the grey lump of metal, which began to project the same hologram into the air above his hands. Several areas of the planet began to glow green and a single small area pulsed with red

"We will begin the Psychic invasion by erecting the beacons in these green lit areas. Once the network is fully erected it will allow us dominance of every mind on the planet." All lights faded from the planet except the small, pulsing red one...

"What is to be done with the planet once we own their minds?" He inquired as he withdrew the device and swiped his fingers down the cold metal to disable it, before placing it back onto his utility belt and looking up to the Princess again.

The Indespectus ship turned silently and glided towards the small base, slowly setting its self down. The Spectre team disembarked with a large group of Argutus scientists in tow. The contrasting black armour of the Spectres on the white of the background scenery was stark, as were the alien weaponry they were carrying with them. The hulking black armoured Hara-Ka drifted slowly to the side to reveal Postuma and Manfred Little, who were quite clearly the two commanders of the operation.
"Get those scientists into the structure!" Manfred barked as two Hara-Ka quickly herded the Argutus out of the cold and into the base.
"Manfred, get me an evaluation of the perimeter defences." Postuma ordered and the transhuman quickly spun to face her before slamming his fist against his chest. He spun on his heel again and gestured to the hara-ka, marching towards them and yelling out orders. Postuma sans her escourts now proceeded further towards the base, sighing heavily. as she did. She realised this would be a long, glorified guard duty and she would rather be performing other duties. These assignments were usually safe but also uneventful. She had no doubt that the discoveries made her would be useful in the future of the Romans and the Collective and the names of the researchers would almost certainly be recorded and glorified after the fact, buy for a Spectre such as her these assignments were a waste of her skills. More Spectres would likely be brought in over time, hopefully with pieces of media for when they were off duty, otherwise this could drag out for a long, long time coming...
