Daniel "Danny" Rand-Kai A.K.A. The Immortal Iron Fist

Origin & Backstory

1988-1998: Death of a Family
In 1988 Danny Rand-Kai was born to Heather Duncan Rand and businessman Wendell Rand-Kai, CEO of Rand-Meachum Inc. Danny's childhood was about as uneventful as the son of a billionaire's could be until the year he turned ten years old, when his father decided to take Danny, Heather and his business partner Harold Meachum with him in search of the mythical city of K'un-Lun. Meachum betrayed the Rand family, pushing Wendell off a cliff and abandoning Heather and Danny to die on the icy mountain slopes they were journeying through when they wouldn't join him in his hostile takeover of Wendell's former life. The two wandered lost through the mountains, stalked by wolves and weakened by cold and starvation. Eventually the wolves struck, and as Heather sacrificed herself to give Danny a few brief moments more to run the last thing he saw before collapsing in exhaustion was a set of shining, golden gates burning through a haze of snow.

When Daniel Rand next awoke, it was within the walls of the Eternal City of K'un-Lun. Its Immortal rulers had rescued him and taken him in, as he happened to arrive during the once-every-decade period when K'un-Lun intersects directly with the mortal plane. As an apology for failing to save Danny's mother as well, they offered to grant him any one request. It barely took Danny Rand any time at all to ask them to teach him everything they could about combat. Thus, while the world mourned the death of one of New York's most high profile philanthropists and his family, Danny Rand began his apprenticeship under Lei Kung The Thunderer.

1998-2008: Birth of an Iron Fist
The Thunderer's training was brutal if also enlightening, designed to hone mind, body and spirit into a weapon forged with an immortal lifetime of experience. Danny's fellow students made his life no easier as he was constantly isolated, mocked and attacked due to his foreign heritage and status as an outworlder. But Danny persisted, the desire for revenge on Harold Meachum lending an angry fire to his efforts that no amount of guidance from his mentors or torment from his peers could extinguish. All the while Danny and the other trainees were told stories of the legendary dragon Shou-Lao the Undying, how he eternally guards K'un-Lun, his still beating heart magically separated from his body and placed inside an enchanted brazier that forced it to beat so that he would never die. They were also told that once in each generation a worthy warrior would be chosen from among trainees like them to face Shou-Lao and attempt to claim the Dragon's power as their own to become the Iron Fist, Immortal Weapon of K'un-Lun. Danny desired this above all else, both to prove himself to those who mocked him and to better exact his revenge against Harold Meachum.

It took ten long years of nearly endless training, but finally the day arrived when a warrior would be chosen to face Shou-Lao the Undying. To the surprise of nearly everyone but himself and Lei Kung, Danny managed to defeat every other challenger and earn the right to face the Dragon. When the time came Danny entered Shou-Lao's mountaintop cave and fought the massive dragon with his bare hands. It was a grueling fight, but in the end Danny was able to grapple with Shou-Lao and cover the still-gaping chest wound which tied the great serpent to its' still beating heart with his own body. The heat of the beast's fiery blood was so intense that it branded the dragon-shaped wound of Shou-Lao into Danny's chest, but in the end he held on long enough to subdue Shou-Lao. With that done Danny plunged his fists into the Undying dragon's molten, still beating heart again and again, until it truly died. The process infused Danny with the dragon's powerful chi and enabled him to channel it through his fists. Thus The Immortal Iron Fist was born!

2008-2009: Iron Fist, Wanted Man!
Afterward it was revealed to Danny that his coming to K'un-Lun was no accident, in fact his father Wendell was the brother of the Immortal lord Yu-ti and Danny was K'un-Lun royalty. The Yu-Ti offered Danny the chance to live forever in K'un-Lun as an immortal and a prince, but he rejected life in paradise, instead returning to the mortal world to seek revenge on Harold Meachum. He was able to track Meachum down to the Rand Tower in New York and fight past innumerable traps and bodyguards, only to find Harold Meachum a broken shell of a man not only confined to a wheelchair after losing both of his legs but already driven to insanity by guilt for his past crimes. However, before Danny could decide what to do, Meachum was killed by a mysterious assailant dressed as a ninja and Iron Fist was framed as Meachum's murderer. Danny found himself at the center of a nationwide manhunt after murdering the well known billionaire. Worse yet, Harold Meachum's daughter Joy put a sizable bounty on his head and he had no real civilian identity to hide behind. Danny spent the majority of his time alternately avoiding the police, fighting bounty hunters and misinformed superheroes alike, and desperately searching for the ninja to clear his name. He eventually found out that The Ninja was a vengeful wraith of a warrior and assassin who had once fought against K'un-Lun. He had been raised from the dead by an unknown master and framed Danny to try and destroy him and leave the Eternal City defenseless. However in their final confrontation the increasingly unstable Ghost Ninja ended up gleefully confessing all of this in front of a rather large crowd during their rather flashy battle and as a result Iron Fist was cleared of all charges with minimal difficulty.

2009-present: A New Life

With help from a penitent Joy Meachum, Daniel Rand was able to prove his identity as the boy who vanished into the mountains many years ago and take back his father's company though he was mainly put in charge of public relations and Rand Incorporated's numerous charitable organizations. With vengeance long out of his reach Iron Fist decided to put his training to good use instead, becoming one of New York's many street-level heroes, though his duties as the Immortal Weapon of K'un-Lun also bound him to a world of martial arts and mysticism. Now as 2010 begins Daniel Rand-Kai is living a new life with new friends and new enemies, all while serving as a bridge for two very different worlds.

Attributes
Martial Arts-First and foremost Daniel Rand-Kai is one of the greatest martial artists on Earth, taught by masters with an immortal lifetime of experience with methods that would seem impossible to ordinary men. He is a master of all of the martial arts of K'un-Lun and many of the martial arts of Earth, including styles of fighting that have been unknown to most mortals for thousands of years. More mundanely he is a master of Ninjutsu, Jujitsu, Aikido, all forms of Shaolin Kung Fu, Karate, Judo, Boxing and even informal street-fighting techniques. He has complete mastery of nearly all martial arts weaponry and weapon styles, and is skilled enough at pressure point techniques to effectively use them against superhuman opponents and even beings whose physiology is completely inhuman.

Chi Manipulation and Augmentation-Thanks to his training in K'un-Lun, Danny is able to manipulate his chi to enhance his strength, speed, reflexes, durability, endurance, agility and senses to superhuman levels, although doing this usually takes some concentration and leaves him greatly drained afterward.

Chi of Shou-Lao-Thanks to plunging his fists into the molten heart of the legendary dragon Shou-Lao the Undying, Danny can call upon the dragon's immense and powerful chi and focus it into his fist. While this is primarily used for his signature Iron Fist ability, Danny has occasionally been able to utilize the Chi of Shou-Lao to heal himself and others in times of great desperation and it may have other functions as well, unknown to him. Danny's main usage is focusing the Chi of Shou Lao into his hands in order to make them practically invulnerable and capable of striking with massive concussive force. Although "Becoming like a thing of Iron" is how it was phrased in ancient K'un-Lun, the Iron Fist technique is capable of easily shattering or shredding through iron, steel and much harder and denser substances with relative ease. What's more, Danny can focus more of Shou-Lao's chi into his fists for stronger strikes and has yet to reach his maximum power with the Iron Fist.

Meditation and Body Control-Thanks to meditative exercises learned in K'un-Lun Danny is able to exercise complete mastery over his body, enabling him to control his breathing and heartbeat well enough to slow them to a state indistinguishable from death, deaden himself to all pain, greatly slow the effects of drugs and toxins on his body, go days without sleep and adapt himself to a wide variety of environments with relative ease.

Peak-Human conditioning-Danny's incredibly intensive training in K'un-Lun means that his body is trained and conditioned to the peak potential of an unassisted human, making him just short of a Steve Rogers-level of physically fit even without the use of his chi.

Acrobatics-As part of his training in K'un-Lun, Danny was honed into a highly skilled acrobat, enabling him to maneuver through environments as diverse as the mountainous slopes outside K'un-Lun, the twisted jungles of the H'ylthri and the urban sprawl of New York city with equal ease, speed and grace.

Stealth-Though not as skilled as some, Danny's mastery of ninjutsu includes training in the arts of concealment, deception and stealth.

Multi-Lingual-Danny is fluent in numerous languages and dialects used throughout China, as well as American English and Japanese.

Some Knowledge of the Occult-For someone who professes to totally lack any interest in or aptitude for magic Daniel Rand-Kai possesses a surprising amount of knowledge regarding the mystic arts, supernatural lore and arcane secrets mankind is typically not meant to know. However, Danny himself will swear-up-and-down that he's hardly an expert in such matters, instead insisting that growing up in the high society of K'un-Lun necessitates a basic understanding of such things.

Character Goals
I want to successfully weave Iron Fist into the Maximum Comics universe while also drawing on his lore to create stories that are well-crafted and self-aware while staying true to the character's Wuxia and Kung-Fu B-Movie influences in a way that's fun to write and to read. Overall I want to collaborate with everyone to have a fun time, make something cool and expand the Maximum Comics universe for the better, especially where its' martial artists are concerned.

Am also still in this and just thinking of what to post
Also might have Prospero crash at Luca's house once he shows up, because he has no home other than fancy hotel rooms.
Looking for a time to insert Prospero, will get a post in when I can
My Doll Hunter!

Name: Horatio Jeremiah Bouken

Age: 13

Gender: Male

Appearance: When in full on Doll Hunter mode with the gun replaced by nail-guns. Otherwise wears casual clothes or a school uniform. Also never at all cute in any way

Personality: Overall Horatio is a child trying to balance a world of secrets, duty and painful memories with that of a carefree middle school kid of wealth and means, longing for an easygoing and fun existence with friends but unable to let go of his past or give up being a Hunter, which he sees as an almost sacred responsibility. Although he sees Dolls as capable of being as evil and dangerous as Puppeteers in their own way, he truly desires to protect people and tries his very hardest never to kill any humans including possessed Marionettes. While he mostly sees being a Doll Hunter as his one true calling in life he also secretly dreams of becoming a novelist and will often recite his actions in an over-dramatized and stylized internal monologue provided he's not doing something that requires his full concentration, though being slightly scatterbrained he sometimes does this out loud. Despite his usually serious demeanor while on the job, he's still the same person underneath, even having chosen his combat style at the time because "It seemed cool!"

Backstory: Will PM to the GM

Skills: Horatio has been training constantly for eight years under the watchful eyes of his mentor, who is an extremely experienced Doll Hunter in his own right. As such his body has been honed to near or perhaps beyond peak human levels in some respects through the use of Doll Hunter training techniques, far past what would be expected from a middle school boy. While his physical strength is only slightly above average for a child his age Horatio's speed and reflexes are incredible for a human, as he is fast enough to keep up with and even outpace or outmaneuver Dolls and other supernatural beings, as well as dodge their attacks with apparent ease.

His marksmanship abilities and general skill with his dual nail-guns is also nearly inhuman, as he is able to wield two revolver-sized nail-guns one handed with near-superhuman precision and speed, even pulling off trick shots that would astonish professional gunmen and quick-drawing his nail-guns fast enough to surprise some dolls. He combines his flair for gunplay and intense speed with training in acrobatics and free-running to dodge and weave around battlefields, hop roofs in pursuit of his quarry and attack from unexpected angles. Despite his youth and inexperience, he's been trained to be quite deadly. Ultimately though he is a human and a rather young and small one at that. His durability is still basically that of a human child and his strength is only a little bit better than that, so if he's actually hit he won't last long.

Weapons: Like most Doll Hunters, Horatio makes use of specially designed nail-guns that fire nails with the ability to harm Dolls and Puppeteers and drive them from the human world. Unlike most Doll Hunters, Horatio wields a nail-gun in each hand, having trained rigorously to offset the disadvantages that creates and turning them into strengths. Both of them are around the size of a small revolver, although they're actually capable of holding about ten nails each before he has to re-load them. They've been carefully balanced and are of exactly equal weight and size even while loaded and have been customized to reduce kickback in order to optimize his two-gun style. He's taken to labeling one Sinister and the other one Righteous and engraved them as such despite the fact that they can easily be switched and his master disapproves of the pun. Other than the engravings they have no visual differences.
Well, it does say Always Accepting right there up at the top. So yup, totally do.
Putting this here until it's approved or in case I need to make changes.

Quote: "I have done all that has been asked of me! I control aspects of my upbringing that neither of you could begin to understand -- and I am dismissed -- by him -- as a threat to be monitored for some hidden agenda? It isn't fair"

Name Damian Wayne

Alias: Robin, Occasionally Ibn al Xu'ffasch

Age 12

Occupation: Middle Schooler, Vigilante

Skills & Abilities

Martial Arts-Damian has been trained to fight by the League of Assassins from an unhealthily young age and while his claims to be as skilled in the martial arts as Batman are entirely unfounded, a lifetime of training with the best tutors the League had to offer plus additional training from Batman within the last year or so have made him an exceptionally skilled martial artist for his age, whether unarmed or with weaponry. That said, his previous training as an assassin still constantly clashes with the Bat-Family's nonlethal methods and make him much less effective than he could be.

Master Swordsman-Though the full extent of his ability with swords is unclear, Damian claims to have studied swordsmanship directly under Ra's Al Ghul from the earliest part of his childhood, as well as under several lesser instructors throughout his time in the League. What is certain is that Damian has a strong affinity for swords, often expressing discomfort at lacking one and displaying a near encyclopedic knowledge regarding swords and swordsmanship. Even more concretely he has demonstrated proficiency in several styles of swordsmanship from various countries and time periods as well as ability to effectively wield two swords at once in combat despite the impractically high level of dexterity, strength and skill this would normally require.

Acrobatics-Damian's training with both the League and Batman included instruction in parkour and acrobatics to quickly maneuver through his environment as well as evade and outflank opponents. While not nearly as skilled as Dick Grayson he's still fairly capable of roof-hopping with all but the best in Gotham and dizzying common thugs with acrobatic feats mid-combat.

Investigation-As a result of his training with Batman, Damian has begun training in basic investigative techniques. However while training with the World's Greatest Detective and his own intelligence certainly give him a decent head-start, his arrogant attitude and impatience means he has a tendency to jump to conclusions without questioning his own deductions thoroughly enough, and he has yet even begin to mature as a detective.

Tracking
Despite his inexperience as a detective, Damian's training with the League of Assassins means he is an excellent tracker capable of swiftly and accurately identifying and tracking targets whether in the urban sprawl of Gotham or in wilderness environments ranging from desert wastelands to dense jungles, though he can still be fooled by clever enough quarry.

Marskmanship-Damian has trained extensively with both Batman and the League in throwing shuriken, knives, darts and batarangs and is a skilled marksman with those and improvised throwing weapons. In addition he actually a highly skilled archer for his age thanks to both personal interest and training from the League, although he rarely uses a bow or arrows in his role as Robin.

Intelligence Damian is possessed of a genius-level intellect that could rival if not surpass that of his father given sufficient time and experience. He possesses a gift for memorization and mimicry that makes him a naturally fast learner, and thanks to an education meant to enable him to take over Ra's Al Ghul's criminal empire in every aspect, he was able to achieve things ranging from completing Bruce's designs for a flying Batmobile to successfully rooting out embezzlement and increasing profits within Wayne Enterprises after just a cursory examination of the company. Though he would never admit this is the case he still can't come close to rivaling his 'older sibling' Tim Drake in intellectual matters and his relative inexperience means he doesn't have the depth or sheer range of knowledge as his father.

Master of Stealth-Despite his insistence that he's naturally the best at everything, Damian may actually be the most talented of the Bat-Family when it comes to stealth , in part due to his small size and in part due to being raised from birth by a society of assassins. He was able to infiltrate the Batcave undetected before ever meeting Batman, and in the time since he has only become more skilled.

Personality & History

Son of the Bat
Allegedly the result of a passionate night between Talia Al Ghul and Bruce Wayne, Damian was the product of a long term plan of Ra's Al'Ghul formed in order to create a perfect tool and heir for his legacy after Bruce turned down his offers to take up the position himself rather forcefully on multiple occasions. The idea was to have not only a potential heir but also a source of leverage against The Batman in future attempts to convert him to Ra's way of thinking. To that end Talia seduced Bruce through questionable circumstances then hid away until Damian was born, concealing his existence and raising him within the League of Assassins.

Heir to the Demon
Damian was trained ruthlessly in the ways of the League of Assassins from nearly the time he could walk and instilled with the ideologies of Ra's Al Ghul almost as early. But outside of his training he was treated as a prince, the son of Ra's Al Ghul's favored heir if not the heir himself, showered with gifts, surrounded by servants and never wanting for anything his heart desired. As a result he took to his lessons and lifestyle within the League passionately, becoming arrogant, ruthless, accustomed to power and convinced he was on a righteous path. More than anything though, he idolized stories his mother told him of his father Bruce Wayne-The Batman a powerful warrior who punished the wicked and would someday join him and his mother in saving the world. It wasn't until Talia revealed Damian's existence to Bruce and supposedly left him under his father's protection against the wishes of an increasingly unstable Ra's Al Ghul that he learned how different reality was from his dreams.

One of the Family
Since coming under his father's tutelage Damian earned the position of Robin mainly through stubbornness, sneaking out to "help" with Batman's nocturnal activities no matter how often he was denied the privilege. Over the past year or so he's struggled not only to be accepted by Bruce's inner circle but also with his own shift in identity and the former lack of rules in his life, especially his willingness to kill. Much of his former arrogance has been forcibly stripped from him, especially following Bruce's wedding to Selina which put nearly the final nail in the coffin as far as his hopes that Talia will come back for him.

 • Story Arc: Heir to Two Worlds

Damian has finally started to feel some measure of acceptance for his new life in Gotham despite his struggles. However, one night while on patrol as Robin he is forcibly sidetracked by a mysterious assailant claiming to be a messenger from the League of Assassins and more importantly, from Ra's Al Ghul himself. Ra's has declared that Damian's time with his father must come to an end, that he wants Damian to return to the League as his favored grandchild and stand by his side once more. What will happen when he's forced to choose between his old life and his new-found family?

Extras

 • Damian has a major weak spot towards animals of all kinds, would likely bring pets back to the batcave on a regular basis if he were allowed to do so and has even begun considering vegetarianism.
 • The closest thing he has to a hobby is probably drawing, initially done as an exercise in observational skill but now as something to do when bored or as an emotional outlet.
 • Damian made a promise to Bruce that he wouldn't kill anyone as a condition of becoming Robin. Despite not always understanding the point of it and what others might believe he actually takes it very seriously.
