"Um, the building we just left is the Main Hall, it's basically where we eat. This building next to it is the Infirmary. I've been spending more time here since I've started creating more healing ointments. I am not able to do things like an Apollo child can do, but I try to help in that area at least. Did you want to go inside the buildings?"

Ocean wasn’t too interested in what the insides of the buildings looked like, but she wanted to be polite and make a good first impression, so she nodded with a smile. I have already picked a cabin. And sure, I don’t mind going inside the buildings. Do you do other things besides make healing ointments? I’ve known about the gods for… a long time, but I know more about Poseidon than I do about the other gods and their children. What’s the difference between your healing and healing from a child of Apollo?”

Ocean could connect the dots and she realized that one relies on plants and ointments versus the innate power to heal others. However, knowledge was valuable and Ocean decided she’d make it her goal this first week to gather all the information she could about demigod abilities and the residents of camp. Plus, she wanted to seem friendly and curious to Iliana.

Ocean glanced over when she saw some movement out of the corner of her eyes and she saw River pointing in her direction with a woman next to him. She raised her eyebrows, surprised to see him conversing with someone. Not only that, but seemingly having a pleasant conversation. They moved into the main hall and Ocean focused again on Iliana once they were out of sight.

They walked through the infirmary and around the field. The big arena stood out and Ocean caught herself looking at it more than once. She was sure River would put that to use. The stables had a few horses in them and she said hi to the few that were there, though one of them was super sassy to the point where Ocean had to leave for fear of losing her temper. Off in the distance, Ocean saw the camp getting more and more people, so she decided she might as well head back to her cabin and relax before the party tonight.

“Iliana, thank you for the tour. It was really nice getting to know you!” Ocean gave a smile and she decided she liked Iliana. She was nice and didn’t seem to be like one to judge. “I think I might wander a little longer before heading to my cabin to relax before the party, but… let’s hang out again sometime, yeah?” Ocean gave her a chance to respond before slowly making her way along the path, taking the long way back to her cabin.

Penny smiled as she watched Christian taste and peel apart a marshmallow. "Uh, gelatin and sugar I think." She gave him a playful scowl when he tried to tease her more about her surprise, but beamed when he handed her a box that contained some of the most beautiful knives she'd ever seen. She stared at then with wide eyes before looking back up at Christian. They were smooth and curled like a spiral, almost. One was gold, the other silver, and they had weird symbols and runes that disappeared soon after, melting into the metal.

"Where did you get these? They're beautiful." Penny ran her fingers over the blades, being careful not to cut herself on them. She looked at the full duffle bag and she felt an immense feeling of warmth and appreciate wash over her. Christian really... did all of this for her. He got her special knives and a duffle bag full of weapons and questionable equipment. Her stomach fluttered and she studied his face, wanting to know what caused him to do all of this for her. He was almost beaming, seemingly super happy at being able to gift all of this to Penny. Penny felt compelled to give him something in return for his thanks, but she didn't know what. She knew he would decline anything she tried to give him. But perhaps... she rose on her toes and placed a kiss on his cheek, her face growing slightly hot.

She returned his smile, excitement evident in her face and tone. "Thank you. I love them! I'll be a professional hunter in no time!" She put the box down and grabbed the ingredients for their dessert. "Let's celebrate with smores!"

They went outside the camper and Penny started a fire in the small pit that sat right outside. She didn't have chairs, but the grass was green and soft, so she sat down right next to the fire. She gave Christian a roasting stick and showed him how to put the marshmallows on and the exact distance to hold it from the fire.

"You don't want to hold them too close, or else they'll catch fire and burn. And keep it on a nice, slow rotation so all the sides get toasted and turn golden!"

Ocean watched as more and more people started filling the main hall and she tried to push down the negative feelings that threatened to spill over. Ocean realized that she was truly away from home, in another country, with a bunch of half-god strangers. She heard the water pipes in the building creak slightly and she took a deep breath to calm her nerves. She did not need another water pipe explosion in her life. She recognized Andy, but there were a couple of guys that she didn’t recognize at all. They were either campers that had already resided here or newbies that she hadn’t seen earlier. Andy seemed nice enough, but she definitely didn’t like River and probably Ocean due to association. Ocean didn’t think she and Andy would be friends any time soon. Not that she needed friends… but maybe an acquaintance would be nice.

Ocean was almost done with her oatmeal when a quiet greeting came her way. She looked up in surprise and was pleased to see the woman she had waved at earlier. Maybe Ocean had a chance to be friendly with someone who hadn’t met River yet. She introduced herself as Demeter’s daughter and Ocean recognized Demeter as the plant goddess. Sure, she was a lot more than just ‘plant goddess’, but Ocean didn’t want to go into detail.

”I’m Ocean. Poseidon’s daughter. It’s a pleasure, Iliana.” Ocean offered her hand for a handshake. “I didn’t see you at the gate when I walked past, are you new or did you already live here? Her inner voice urged her to say something else and keep the conversation going.

“I just got here this morning, but I haven’t had a chance to tour the campgrounds yet,” Ocean gave an awkward pause before continuing to ask Iliana if she could tour the grounds with her. ”I don’t mean to impose…”

Ocean hoped Iliana would accept her offer, but if she didn’t, it wasn’t a big deal.

Penny listened as Christian told her about his day, filing away information about him and his job. Penny liked getting to know Christian more and what he experiences, but she was aware that he wasn't able to tell her everything. "My day was nothing special," She took a bite of her food and chewed thoughtfully. "I did some grocery shopping and decoration shopping."

Penny thought to the smores ingredients in her pantry. "Oh! Since we're at a campsite, we can have a fire! I bought marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers for dessert."

Penny finished her food and waited for Christian to finish his before washing the dishes and pulling out the smores ingredients. She placed them on the counter. She was excited to have Christian try smores, even if he couldn't taste or enjoy them. It was the process that mattered. Making smores was also so fun and she never got to do them as a kid. She rarely camped or made smores since she moved away from home either.

She leaned back against the counter, resting her hands by her side. "Soooo what's this surprise you have for me?"
Penny rarely got gifts or surprises, so she was shocked when Christian left immediately after claiming he might have a present for her. Butterflies danced around her stomach and almost made her forget about why he was acting so strange. She sat in the drivers seat, lost in her thoughts for a few moments before shaking her head and pulling out her GPS to find a campground. There was one just outside of town and she figured it looked like a nice place to stay. Once she parked, she got to unpacking her meagre personal items and rearranging her camper. Her bathroom was finally stocked, her bed made, the kitchen stocked... kinda.

She wondered what kind of meals Christian would want to eat, now that he was trying food. She decided that she needed to go grocery shopping and buy a few decorations for her new home. She wanted new curtains and cushions for the seats and windows, as well as a cute table runner for her tiny table and maybe some fabric flowers. Penny exited her camper, locking it behind her before realizing she didn't know how to disconnect the trailer from her truck and reconnect it. She pulled out her phone and pulled up a few videos, skimming through them in hopes of understanding what needs to be done.

Eventually, she figured it out and when she got back from the store, she put all of her groceries away and put up her new curtains and decorations. The camper definitely had some of her personality sprinkled through it now and she loved it. Some fabric sunflowers sat in the middle of the table on top of a yellow table runner and cute blue curtains were tied back on her windows. She look at her watch and hummed in contemplation. She didn't know when Christian would be back but she figured she might as well start dinner and save some for him if he chose to eat. She pulled out the necessary pans and food before getting to work, though halfway through her mind lingered on the possibility of Christian bringing back a gift for her and she got all nervous and excited again.

About thirty minutes later, Penny jumped and swung her spatula at a voice that suddenly appeared behind her. The spatula whacked the stranger in the chest, but Penny quickly realized that it was only Christian. He looked down at her with a smile and a mischevious glint in his eyes and she felt her face grow red in embarassment. She had totally screamed the girliest scream and hit him with a spatula. "Christian Jones!" She reprimanded, her hands on her hips. "You almost gave me a heart attack! Imagine, surviving vampires and red caps only to be done in by the very reaper that saved her!"

His question registered in the back of her mind and she felt her fear replace itself with relief and excitement. What could he have possibly gotten her? Penny gave him a goofy smile before turning back to make sure the food didn't burn. "I'm itching to know what it is, but give it to me after dinner. How was work?"

Luckily, the food was pretty much done, so she plated it and set it on the table for both her and Christian, glasses of water following after.
Penny shook her head with a smile as she conversed with Christian through the driver's side window. "I actually put everything inside the trailer before I left for Luke's house. Everything should be in there so no need to go back to the hotel. I guess our next step would be to find somewhere to park- though I think we should find a problem to solve and park near there."

Penny pointed at the passenger seat next to her with pursed lips. "Are you coming with?"
Penny pursed her lips as she watched Christian almot throw himself out of the vehicle and pace around the camper. He had been acting strange since he left the hotel room. Penny didn't think anything had happened to make him so on edge and antsy. Unless it was something related to his job? Or... maybe Penny made him mad somehow?

She backed the truck up to the front of the camper and jumped out. She stared at the hitch with her hands on her hips and frowned. She tapped her foot in thought before sighing. She forgot to read up on how to hitch something to a truck. She doubted Christian knew, but she turned to ask him anyways. "Do you know-"

Penny blinked in surprise as she watched Christian already putting the parts together. A smile adorned her lips soon after the shock wore off and she found that she was impressed by his knowledge. And maybe a little attracted to it, but she buried that emotion and tried to keep her face from heating up. "Look at you! Driving, eating, hitching a trailer... you're on a roll with this human stuff," Penny exclaimed, hoping to get him to open up a little bit and explain why he's been acting so weird.
Penny felt slightly disappointed over Christian's denial, but she couldn't bring herself to show it or complain about it. Not when he was smiling at her so tenderly as he tucked her hair behind her ear. Penny studied his face, wondering what he was thinking about, returning his smile with one of her own. "I understand," She responded.

All of a sudden, he went rigid and pulled away before excusing himself from the room, leaving Penny slightly confused. She brought her hand up to the strand of hair that was put behind her ear and she let a goofy smile spread across her face. Was he bashful? Penny's stomach fluttered with butterflies as her mind replayed the action and her cheeks felt slightly warmer than usual. She cleared her throat and decided it was best to get ready for the day.

Penny met up with Christian in the parking lot. He was leaning up against the car he was going to drive and Penny stopped to admire his tall figure for a second before making herself known and greeting him. "I think I'm ready," She called out. "Uh... just message me in my brain if you want to pull over- I guess. You don't have a cell phone, do you?"

Penny wondered if she should get him one just for... emergencies.
Penny removed her hands form his shoulders and took the waterbottle. She gulped half of it down before she screwed the cap back on and set it beside her on the bed. "Thanks. And I wouldn't mind if you entered my dreams." Penny didn't know what her dreams would entail in the future, but Penny found that she didn't mind it if Christian rooted through her mind... which scared her a bit. She was slowly realizing that she'd let Christian do what he wanted, consequences be damned.

Penny looked at the time and saw it was five in the morning. She groaned slightly, disappointed she couldn't sleep a little longer. "Well an early start never hurt anyone. I know I won't be able to go back to sleep. If we leave within the next hour or so, we can drop the car off and grab the camper with plenty of daylight left," She paused and tilted her head to ask a question. "Are you okay with driving the car through the city? We can take it slow. If not, I can park the truck a little out of town and drive the car there..." Penny looked at him with a small smile. "Can you teleport people other than yourself without getting into trouble? That would be the best way to get back to the truck. Plus I want to experience it. Just once." She clasped her hands together and gave him what people would normally call a 'puppy face'. Wide sparkly eyes and a small pout.

Ocean wanted to protest when her brother inspected her cabin, but she held her tongue. Ocean knew he felt out of place and overwhelmed - they both did - so she let him do as he pleased before excusing himself. She dropped her bag on the cabin porch and did a little inspection for herself, though instead of looking for dangerous ambushes, she was looking for things that might need to be fixed up. Andy had mentioned that the cabins change with each owner- Ocean was interested to see if this cabin would reflect her personality.

The cabin was wooden and painted a baby blue color. It kind of reminded her of her house on the beach back in Hawai’i. It had windows with white trim and a wrap around deck- also painted white. Ocean decided she’d like to get some lounge chairs for the warmer months… assuming she’d be here that long. Poseidon never gave her a timeframe and she didn’t know if River got one. He never told her anything.

She walked into the cabin and was pleased to see that the interior was modern and practical. White walls, wooden floorboards and a cute seashell pink runner-rug along the floor. There were two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. Ocean felt excited over the prospect of having her own space away from her brother and her mom. She brought her bag in and placed it in the bigger room before leaving the cabin to make her way to what she assumed was the main hall. Her stomach growled and she hoped there was food. River was in charge of packing snacks and to her surprise (not), he forgot to include them.

She cut through the trees and deep snow behind her cabin and walked along the path until she saw the big field and what looked like horse stables. Ocean grew excited over the prospect of there being horses. Out of every creature she was able to talk to, horses were the most fun. Her stomach growled again and she made a mental note to come back and see if any horses actually occupied the building. When she rounded the big field, Ocean saw a few people -girls and guys- standing near the main office.

Some of them looked confused and out of place- Ocean assumed they were new like her. While most of them looked dressed appropriately for the weather, there was one guy who sported a bruised face and a singular hoodie. Ocean winced when she imagined the amount of cold water that must be soaking into his pants. She was suddenly even more grateful for her ability to remove the water from her clothes. Another man walked further into the camp with a girl by his side. He held baggies of what looked like snacks in his hands. At least someone came prepared. A part of her wanted to go up and say hi, but she didn’t know what she was doing and doubted she’d be any help to them, so she continued on to the main hall.

The smell of food invaded her nostrils and she had to stop herself from rushing. The last thing she wanted was to embarrass herself and be known as the crazy food girl. She had to make a good first impression. Ocean grabbed a cup of coffee and a bowl of oatmeal before finding an empty table to sit at. Most of the tables were empty and Ocean realized that most people must just be waking up and getting ready for the day. Ocean wished she could have slept in a little, but she and River had been traveling since last night. First on a plane (which Ocean was terrified of. She would’ve preferred going by boat but that would’ve taken ages), and then hiking to camp early this morning. Walking to her table, Ocean noticed another table that she hadn't before that had a woman sitting at it. She was eating her breakfast as well and Ocean gave her a small smile and a wave before sitting at her own table- a few tables down from the woman.

Ocean poured an obscene amount of sugar and cinnamon in her oatmeal before taking a bite and smiling as it warmed her up and filled her belly. She thought about what she’d do for the rest of the day and decided that she might go for a swim in River’s heated pool. With or without his permission. It was weird not living by the ocean and by a lake instead, but she couldn’t complain. At least there was a body of water.
