Bio

Long time roleplayer since 2000. I could never get into DnD, so when I learned about "Post by Play" RPGs, I decided to give it a go to improve my writing skills. Started in Yahoo! Clubs which would eventually become Yahoo! Groups. After that site died down, I would eventually find Gateway Roleplay in 2011. Recently that site died so one RPG I was in migrated here in April 2025.

One thing all RPGs I've been involved in have Romance. That's mandatory for me. I prefer pre-planned romance, but I can do the natural too. Besides roleplaying, I also play video games, read romance novels and manga, draw, write, and watch YT videos a lot.

Nelly didn't realize just how hungry she was until she started eating. She actually didn't hear the new camper deny a drink from Fiona. It always amazing Nelly just how much her friend could handle alcohol. Even Nelly never drank in the morning, but then again, she never tried either.

"Uhhh, I don't think I should have anything to drink considering my performance this morning. I did take a tumble at one point during training hehe. So, I am still in recovery mode. I'll take some medication once I get back to my cabin."

A rare blush colored her cheeks. Nelly was rarely clumsy, so it was embarrassing. Of course, it was her fault for her having issues this morning to begin with. She always owned up to her mistakes. Nelly didn't regret having fun last night too.

The new camper introduced herself as Maylisse. The demi-goddess was definitely not the social type and was observant at least. Nelly was trying to think of how to fill in the silence when Maylisse suddenly asked about their parentages. Nelly was in the middle of eating something, so Fiona answered first. Her friend challenged Maylisse to give up her parentage first. Now, Nelly might come off as gullible, and she did have her moments, but she knew how to be cautious too. If Maylisse had asked her question in a normal fashion, Nelly would have had no issue revealing who her dad was. However, in this case it appeared the new camper was figuring out things. Nelly wondered who her divine parent was. Her mind wandered to when she first saw Maylisse, it was when she was doing the obstacle court. While not the best in her group, two moments stood out for Nelly, and once again she was grateful for her perfect visual memory. First had been the swimming portion, she didn't just swim the course, she was at harmony with the water itself, similar to how River swam it. And then when she finished, Nelly noticed how she dismissed River from drying her and looked like she dried herself off. Nelly didn't pay attention to her after that. Was she one of Poseidon's? Nelly wouldn't put it past Poseidon to send 2 of his offspring to the camp. Still, she didn't want to jump the gun either, so she kept her thoughts to herself.

Fiona's comment about them being bastards cause Nelly to laugh. She was glad she had just swallowed the food she had been chewing on.

"Mon Dieu, Fi, you do have a way with words."

Being a Louisiana native, she still heard French from time to time. It was in the Swamp areas you definitely got the Cajun. Nelly had traveled through those areas multiple times when she wanted to stick closer to home.

Turning back to Maylisse, Nelly replied, "As for who my parent is, I could give you a couple of guesses first."

Compared to others, hers wasn't too hard to figure out, even by personality. She definitely took after her father more. After meeting Hermes the first time, Nelly looked up any Myth based on him so in the off-chance he came back, she could ask him questions. She once asked him if he really created the Lyre and could play it. He laughed at that and didn't really answer, but he did play it for her once before giving it to her. She did bring it with her to camp. Sad thing was, she couldn't play it. She did try.

As the conversation continued, Nelly did glance around at others in the Main Hall. There was others she still wanted to meet, but knew that would have to wait another time since she did want to clean up and take some pictures this evening. This was actually the first time she'd be spending Winter in Greece and she wanted to savor it as much as possible.

The dog barked at her, not the mean kind. At least it didn't sound mean. Iliana could pick up emotions from animals, but this one she couldn't get a reading on. There was an undeniable calmness about the animal, so Iliana wasn't too worried about it hurting her. Animals were way easier to understand than people. If it barked at her, did this mean it understood her? How was that possible.

However, before she could ponder anything else, the animal transformed right before her eyes. Hers eyes widen as fur turned to skin and before she could take another breathe, the dog turned into a man . . . who was shirtless. Her cheeks turned bright red and before she could stop herself, flowers sprouted under neath her and she fell back on her bum. She registered his words, but couldn't respond for a few minutes due to how flustered she was. Thankfully, she snapped out of it and looked around. She groaned seeing the flowers before looking at the man again. While her face was still red, she managed to keep eye contact as she stood up and wiped off any sand on her.

"Apologies, I have issue with my powers at times and I am not used to seeing guys without their shirts on."

That was true. She couldn't recall if she ever saw Heath without a shirt on. It wasn't that he was modest, it's just he was very practical, at least when outside. He never wanted to take any chances to get sunburn, so the times when it was warm enough to not wear a shirt outside, he always wore one.

Now she knew a few of the guys did the course without shirts, starting with River, but they were far enough away that Iliana didn't see their muscles. Looking at the man, who was obviously a camper, she could see more of him. Then her curious nature got the better of her. She also got worried with how cold it was and here he was without wearing anything for his top.

"I hope you don't mind me asking this, but are you one of Artemis's lot? I know one of her kids is capable of turning into an animal. Also, aren't you cold? It's probably below freezing still."

She then recalled the last two Artemis offspring she knew. Theo and Rae. Theo she barely knew because he liked going off on his own. The last time she saw him was during the Trials, a day she'll never forget. Rae, she lived up to her namesake. She was like a ray of light, so full of energy and confidence. It was hard to imagine someone like her dying during the Pandora's Box incident. She heard that Fiona had been the one to find her. Iliana, despite having a broken leg at the time, was there for Cherise when she saw the condition her closest friend was in when they set up a morgue in the Infirmary. Cherise couldn't be consoled and eventually left because of that. Plus she felt useless not being able to heal those alive with injuries. She hoped she was doing better now. Iliana knew from experience that she would never fully get over a death like that, losing a loved one to violence.

Snapping out of her thoughts, she looked back at the camper again and realized she hadn't introduced herself yet.

"Oh, my name is Iliana. If you haven't figured it out yet, Demeter is my mother. Nice to meet you."

She remembered he said he only got in that morning right before training. That made sense, she didn't recall someone like him last night. Iliana tried recalling if she saw him this morning at camp and couldn't. Of course, there was that one race she didn't really watch due to still recovering from her first run. Thinking about how poorly she did today remind her of how much she had to grow, at least in physical endurance. She doubts she'd ever been as good as Trinity, Andy, and a few others, but she hoped to improve. This guy here looked like he had no issues with the course.

"Well, I hope you like camp. I've only been here since this summer. It's not perfect and as you've heard we've had a rough go recently, but I do enjoy it here. It's helped me a lot. Still, I have a lot to improve on. Did you ever get anything to eat after training today?"

If he didn't get anything to eat, she would direct him in the direction of the Main Hall or show him the way if he allowed it. Honestly she'd be lying if his state of 'undress' kept distracting her. At least he had sweet pants on. Hopefully her own mannerisms weren't bothering him, especially her little 'flower display'. She really should get back to meditating again because in the past it helped her. She wouldn't rush things. Her adopted father always told her to work at her own pace. She didn't want to admit it, but she did miss him. He did his very best to be a 2nd father to her. She did call him dad too, but more out of habit. It sadden her how she just didn't want to be around humans anymore, but they were so unpredictable and she'd been hurt too much by them. The only exceptions had been Heath's family. Maybe one day she would feel comfortable around humans, but she wouldn't think about that now or anytime soon. For know she would get to know more people like her and find herself again.

#9966cc ~ Outfit ~ Heath's cabin > Sofia's Cabin > Main Hall

#808000 ~ Outfit ~ Heath's cabin > Sofia's Cabin > Main Hall

Heath led the way to his cabin through the cold weather. He didn’t mind the cold since Scotland’s winters could be way colder than this, but he didn’t know how well Sofia tolerated the cold. Making sure to not out pace Sofia, he kept glancing to see how she was doing. Soon they came upon Veronica’s cabin.

”We’re almost there, I am in the 2nd cabin after this one. This is Veronica’s cabin by the way. The one after that is my sister’s cabin. I’ll be at the end here. You can see the Main Hall from here. I can escort you there next if you like. I can cook, but I think I may eat there once for lunch.”

He didn’t want to talk too much, at least not in the cold. It didn’t take much longer to get to his cabin. Heath knew he would have to turn on the fireplace. Sure he had regular heating and AC, but grew up with fireplaces so he had two of them, one in the living room and one in his bedroom. Taking the key to his cabin, he unlocked it and opened the door for Sofia.

Once inside, Heath spoke up, ”Make yourself at home. I am going to light the fireplace, then get those cookies.”

Well, the kitchen and living room were one big great room. Heath’s cabin wasn’t too big either since he didn’t want to clean anything too big. To the left of the entrance was the fireplace and in front of that was a coffee table and three-seat couch. To the side was an armchair. Heath took off his extra clothing and put it on the coat hanger to the right of the entrance. He put his gloves in the pockets of his coat. Turning on the fireplace, he crossed over to the kitchen to find where he put the cookies. The fireplace itself would have a single frame picture on the mantle above it. If one looked at it, they would know it was taken at camp. It had a picture of Heath, Iliana, and their old friend Ethan who left after Pandora’s Box. Nelly took a picture of the trio before he left and it was taken in front of Heath’s cabin.

Sofia has dealt with the cold before. Being from Washington State, she is used to this cold. Though with less snow, she did not have trouble keeping pace with Heath. Thanks to the small break at the arena when she was waiting for Veronica to do her pushups. Sofia needed that after barely passing.

As they passed Veronica’s and Iliana’s cabin. Sofia took note and could not help but comment on Iliana’s cabin. “I like your sister’s cabin, very fairytale-like.” Like something out of an old fairytale that her mother used to tell her, and where a woodland creature lives. A nice addition in Sofia’s opinion.

“I would not mind going to the Main Hall for food Heath.” Home-cooked food does sound appetizing right now after doing the course but she does wonder what camp food tastes like. She might as well try it if Heath is not in the mood to cook.

Once they reached Heath’s cabin and Sofia entered after Heath opened the door for her. She took the time to look around. “Will do Heath,” replying to him and took off her jacket and put it on the coat hanger just next to Heath’s. Leaving her gloves in the pockets of her jacket.

So Sofia looked around the living room and she found Heath’s cabin to be cozy and was not expecting a working fireplace. It has been years since she has seen one, too used to fake ones for decoration rather than function. Sofia walked up to feel its warmth and it was a nice feeling in this weather. But, she got a bit too close and its warmth turned too hot. So she backed off instinctively, but noticed a picture frame on the mantle and was curious. Sofia gazed at the picture and while she recognized Heath, his sister and his cabin in it. She did not recognize the person they were with and gazed at the picture as she wondered who this person was.

Upon going into the kitchen, Heath wasted no time getting the cookies. He actually left them in a microwave to help keep them warm. Returning to the living room, he saw Sofia looking at the most recent picture of him, Iliana, and their friend Ethan.

”That’s Ethan Knox. A close friend of mine. His mother is Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth. He’s from Tampa, Florida, but is going to college in Scotland. He ended up staying with me since my mom recommended it because he wanted to study overseas. Ethan originally came here to help me with Iliana. One of his skills was Serenity Inducement, and Iliana went through a lot a year and a half ago. He can also build things with his powers too. After Pandora’s Box, he stayed long enough to help rebuild buildings, including some of the cabins. Since Iliana has improved greatly, Ethan decided to leave because he wanted to go back to college. I gave him permission to still live at my place, plus my family will help keep an eye on him too.”

Realizing he rambled a bit, Heath couldn’t help but blush a little.

”Sorry about the long explanation. He is my best friend, so I really miss him. Here’s the cookies. There’s a dozen in there.” he said, before handing her the Tupperware box.

The box wasn’t too big and could be held with a hand. Heath hoped she liked them. Interestingly enough, even though Heath enjoyed shortbread, he didn’t have much of a sweet tooth in general. He definitely couldn’t handle anything too sweet or rich. Iliana was the one who loved desserts.

”So do you want to go to your cabin first to drop these cookies off there, or go to the Main Hall first? Regardless, I’ll escort you to either place.”

One thing was for sure, after all this was done, he was going to get a shower. He was lucky he didn’t have any body odor from working out, but he wanted to get a shower sooner than later.

Sofia instinctively backed off from the photo and turned to see Heath. Letting him finish what he was saying before speaking.

“It is fine Heath and that was nice of you to do for him.” Even when not at camp, Heath looks out for his friends. A pleasant thought and a sign of his character. Iliana has a good brother and she wonders if Mason would make a good brother. She is not betting on anything yet but the thought is there now..

Sofia looked back at the photo before looking back at Heath. “Do you get to talk to him alot or is that not a thing here at camp?” If not then, things get alot more isolated than she thought.

Either way, she eagerly grabbed the Tupperware box with both hands and for a moment looked at the box before looking at Heath. Hoping that the cookies of Athena’s son are good. She did have a sweet tooth and she would not be one to turn down cookies. Especially homemade ones.

“I think dropping these off at my cabin and then seeing what the Main Hall has is a good plan.” Sofia said with a smile, seeing more of camp and talking with someone she likes. A good plan in her book.

When Sofia asked him if he got to talk to Ethan, Heath sighed.

”Sadly there’s no phone or internet access here. If you want to contact someone you’ll have to walk down this mountain to the closest town. I did make the trek once a few days before Christmas to Facetime to my father and Ethan. I was worn out by the time I got back to camp.”

He remembered asking Iliana if she wanted to come with him that day, and she wanted to, but didn’t think she could make it. Seeing how he barely made it back himself, he had agreed she wouldn’t have made it. He knew Nelly had gone a few times but she had relied on her powers to do that and would come back ravenous when she did. The first time she did it, she relied more on her speed and then the second time she used her teleporting skill more. She apparently got a huge meal in town both times and then when she got back, she ate another huge meal.
Seeing they would be stopping by Sofia’s cabin first; Heath nodded and got his outdoor gear on before turning off the fireplace.

”Do you know how to get to your cabin from here? I have a decent memory of the camp layout, so if I can try to help you out if I can. Lady’s first.” Heath said before opening the door for her.

“Oh, I did not know how… cut off we are here.” Sofia was clearly disappointed by the news. Well, she may not be able to talk to her friends easily, but she can still talk to her mother fine. One blessing of being able to talk to the dead, but she chose to not say that to Heath right now.

She sighed but after a moment, Sofia with Tupperware box in tow. Went over and put on her jacket and gloves. “Well, at least I will get some exercise if I ever try to reach that town.” She put on a small smile, trying to find some good in being isolated from the world. “I think I know my way to my cabin, it is 27 with a good view of the lake.” Turning to face before leaving his cabin, “But, I welcome the help if needed and thank you Mr. Heath.” She said with some cheer, and started walking to her cabin. But walking slowly so as to wait for Heath to catch up.

Closing the door behind him, it didn’t take long for Heath to catch up to Sofia.

”Yeah, I wasn’t too thrilled to hear about how cut off we were either, but I didn’t say anything at the time either because it was my own mother who told me that. But at least I got told ahead of time and made plans for that so both Ethan and I could tell our fathers about the lack of contact.

Walking along, Heath had an idea of where Sofia’s cabin was when she mentioned the number of her cabin. In the past when Heath jogged in the morning, one of his routes took him to the lake and he thinks #27 is one of the cabins facing it, but he hadn’t taken that route in a while either due to how cold it was.

”Is your cabin facing the lake perchance? If so I know the quickest route to the lake at least. Oh and you can just call me Heath.”

“I am glad I am not the only one in that same boat.” Another fact about camp that Sofia’s mother did not tell her about. She wondered what else she did not tell her or maybe just did not know. Sofia hoped it was the second one.

As they walked to her cabin, “Yeah, it does face the lake, that is the main reason why I chose that one.”

Lucky for her, it was not taken when she arrived, and it is nice to have lakeside property for once. Even if it is winter and the lake is freezing cold.

“I know, Heath.” Sofia speaking in an apologetic tone. “I just felt like calling you that, and I will stop.” Then a thought appeared in her mind as she neared her cabin.“Is there anything else I should know about camp?” Sofia looked with a wondering eye at Heath. ”Since it seems there is always something more to this place than what I thought or what I was told.”

Heath got a good look at Sofia’s cabin. It was completely made out of wood and looked very nice. He was amazed at the powers of Hecate’s offspring. He knew there was an enchantment to change the cabins into whatever the camper needed when they picked out the cabin. Going into Sofia’s cabin, Heath let out a whistle.

”This is a nice cabin. Are you going to need assistance with firewood?”

Heath didn’t bother taking his extra gear off since he figured they were going to leave as soon as she put the cookies away. He also thought about her question about what she should know.

”Maybe you can tell me what you were told, and then I can let you know if there’s anything else.”

As Sofia went inside her cabin and did not bother to take off her jacket and gloves. Taking the Tupperware box to the kitchen. Placing it on the kitchen counter and while Heath was looking around. She was tempted to sneak in a bite before heading to the main hall. But decided against it for now, since there will be plenty of time to snack on the cookies later.

”Thanks Heath, I like it too and I do not think I need help with the firewood. But thanks for asking and about what I was told about this place.” Thought about what her mother told her.”All that my mother told me was that I would be safe at camp and away from Hades.” She sighed,”Which I realize is not much, barely anything really, but that was all I was operating on before coming here.” Sofia awkwardly shrugged, ”So that is it and maybe a call to my mother is in order since I wonder how much of camp she really knew or not.”

Sofia clearly didn't get much information at all. Heath wondered how Sofia’s mom knew about the camp to begin with, especially if she wasn’t on good terms with Hades. As tempted as he was to ask the question, it was none of his business and plus, it was old business.

”Well, the camp is supposed to be safe, from humans at least. I myself have no issue with regular humans, but it was that factor that convinced Iliana to come here, besides meeting other demigods. Safe from Hades though, that’s not 100% true. While nothing has happened since I’ve been here, I know at the very least Hades caused issues last summer. I don’t know all of the details though. The only issues that have happened since I’ve been here have been internal arguments between campers and then the Pandora’s box incident. I don't know where that box came from, but it ended up in camp somehow and caused a lot of destruction. It could have been worse if Eris’s daughter, Sloane, hadn’t closed that box. Sorry to bring up these bad things. I do think the camp is a good thing though, it’s had a beneficial effect on my sister, who’s been through some very rough times in her life. Anyway, shall we go get something to eat now?”

Sofia listened intently to what Heath said, and either her mother lied to her to get her to come here, or she did not know about the Paradora’s Box incident. So camp is not as safe as she thought. So yes, Sofia will talk to her mother before the day is over. She has questions and well. She now knows why the camp is surrounded by walls and has a biometric scanner at the entrance.

”No, Heath, thank you for telling me this and I should know about what happened here. It explains some things.” So Hades is not the only god to cause problems at camp. Sofia is not sure how she feels about that. ”But, yeah we should swap out the badness with some lunch. Hopefully good lunch since that would suck after training today.” Sofia said with a small smile and started to walk out of the cabin. Making sure that Heath would catch up as she started walking to the Main Hall.

Heath never liked being the bearer of bad news, but she had asked. As for how he felt about the camp’s security issues itself, yeah it definitely wasn’t the greatest. Andy did her best to tighten camp security, but Heath knew that could only do so much, especially against anything from Greek Mythology or any other Mythos.

As he followed her outside and they headed towards the Main Hall, Heath tried saying more positive things.

”Well, one nice thing about our Main Hall, they’ll have anything you want. If you have any food allergens or preferences, it’s taken care of. I normally like fixing my own meals, but I still eat there from time to time.”

It didn’t take them too long to get to their destination. Heath saw plenty of people were there. There were still plenty of places they could eat. It just dawned on Heath that maybe Sofia wanted to eat by herself. He certainly didn’t mind eating alone or with company. He noticed Veronica wasn’t there either.

”So, did you want to eat together or shall we split up here? I plan on saving a place to sit first before getting my meal, I am getting warm in this coat.” he said as he started removing his coat.

”That is nice to know, Heath.” Sofia sounded genuine.

Having food to eat and not having to worry about allergens. Granted she does not have any, but the thought is nice. But, preferences taken care of, that made her curious and maybe living in the camp would not be so bad. Or at least the food will be good.
When they arrived, Sofia saw that while there were plenty of people in the Main Hall. But when Heath mentioned splitting up, Sofia turned her head to face him with a semi-serious face.

”No, let’s eat together, and I do not mind. Besides,” Sofia with a small, curious smile. I want to know more about camp if you are inclined to talk about or we can just talk about other stuff.” Though as the warmth of the room started to get to her and she started taking off her jacket. ”So let’s find a place to sit and get some food.”

Nodding at her decision, Heath found them a place to sit down. He placed his coat and other outer gear on the table. Much more comfortable, Heath went to get some food to eat. Seeing how cold it was still, Heath got himself a hearty stew with some bread, along with milk. The stew had meat, potatoes, and vegetables. After sitting down, he started eating his meal. When Sofia came back with her meal, he waited for her to settle before asking her a question.

”Did you want to ask anything specific about camp? Just keep in mind I don’t know everything about camp myself.”

Sofia put her jacket and gloves on the table across from Heath. Once that was done and she felt cooler, Sofia headed off for the food and once she was there. Sofia was pleasantly surprised by the number of options. She was glad that Heath was right and after gazing over her options. Sofia decided to go with some chicken tacos with some corn salad. A combo she has not had a good while.
Sofia came back to Heath’s table and sat down. As he was about to start eating, Heath asked his question and Sofia replied. ”That is fine and I do not have many questions left.” Sofia taking a bite out of her taco and she was clearly enjoying it. ”So let’s start with this, and I saw it on the map. But, we have horses at camp?”

Taking a sip from his milk, Heath smiled and responded.

”Yes we do. We actually passed the stable that houses them.”

Thinking about the stables reminded Heath of what he saw there last night involving Blair. He quickly stopped thinking of that instantly, it was embarrassing enough. It also reminded him HOW he ended up there. He wished there was a way he couldn’t be easily influenced by someone like Sylus. Maybe he can ask Sloane about that if she knew any ways. It wouldn’t hurt to try at least.

#4a766e ~ Outfit ~ Arena > Cabin > Main Hall > Lake

Iliana felt like a coward as she headed from the Arena towards her cabin. She could have waited long enough for River's reply, but the person next to him unnerved her so much that she fled like a deer. Next time she saw her, she would make sure to be more polite. For now she would get that hot shower she really needed. Even though she grew up in Scotland, she remembered how warm and humid it was living in southern USA. Iliana recalled the last time she was in Atlanta. When she had turned 16, the family took a trip to Atlanta for vacation. Biggest reason was to see her father's grave though. At the time during one of the few times her mom visited, she finally had the courage to ask her mom what happened to her dad's body that night of his death. She had taken care of everything, including making sure her father got buried somewhere nice outside the city. That trip had been a good one. She got addicted to grits during the trip, but sadly no one back in Scotland knew how to make the stuff. Ever since coming to camp, it was one of the things she ate a lot of, especially now in the winter.

Once inside her cabin, she took off her outer clothing before heading into her bathroom. She took her time in the shower and by the time she was done, she was feeling much better but knew she probably would be sore for the next few days. Putting on fresh clothes, she put on her outer gear before going back outside into the cold again. Walking towards the Main Hall, she wondered what River had in mind for them tomorrow. She wouldn't think about it just yet.

Entering the Main Hall, she saw that plenty of people were still there. Iliana felt torn. Should she join someone or eat by herself. If she was honest with herself, she didn't feel like socializing at the moment, especially with so many people around. While it was true she was trying to improve her social skills, she found she was still very much an introvert who enjoyed her quiet time. Decision made, she got a tray before placing a nice bowl of hot grits on it. She got smaller bowls with fruit salad and pistachio nuts, before finally getting a cup of hot chai tea. Sitting by herself, she took off her outer wear; she was getting hot. She looked at others while keeping to herself. Maybe when supper came around, she would be in a better mood to talk to others. There was still a lot of new campers she hadn't met yet. While she knew it wasn't a race to get to know them all, she hoped to meet everyone at some point. It would be nicer if she could have a close friend to confide in. She had a few friends of course, but she was still a way off from having the same kind of relationship Heath and Ethan had.

Finishing her meal, she quietly got up and cleaned up, took her dirty dishes to where they needed to go. Going back to her seat, she put on her extra gear before going back out into the cold. What to do now? She could head back to her cabin to work in her greenhouse. After all she did promise herself to make more of that ointment. For some reason, she didn't feel like going back. Call her crazy, but she felt like walking around. Yeah the weather wasn't the greatest, but she enjoyed the calmness it brought with it. Going to the right, she took the path passing the Main Office towards the cabins that would lead to the lake. This would also give her a chance to see what the outside of the cabins would look like, well, the ones with any new campers. The only cabin she knew that was over this way that was occupied was Evelyn's. Walking past the Main Office, what she saw took her aback. The 'cabin' she saw was no cabin by regular means. In fact it looked like something out of The Lord of the Rings for it resembled a Hobbit's hole. Charming it was. Eager to see more cabins, Iliana walked on. Next cabin was still a regular one. The one after that looked like a traditional log cabin, but it was different enough that Iliana could tell it belonged to a camper, just barely though. After that was Evelyn's cabin. To Iliana's left, she saw a cabin that was similar to Heath's a combination of stone and wood. However this cabin had another smaller building nearby. Iliana wondered what was inside there but would never go in without permission. Looking to her right again, the cabin after Evelyn's was not a cabin. Iliana couldn't tell what kind of architecture it had, but the building was a pretty yellow color. Finally before reaching the beach, the last cabin along this road, well, it too wasn't a cabin. Rather it was completely triangular, something Iliana had never seen before. It had a lot of windows and Iliana could see through it too. But what really caught her eye even more was the huge pool in front of the house. Now that was something she wasn't expecting. It was as wide as the house itself. Someone enjoyed swimming that's for sure. Maybe this was River's, but it could easily be someone else's too. It was just easy to assume this was River's since with him being Poseidon's son, he probably would like a pool.

Finally reaching the lake, Iliana made sure to stay away from the waterline because if the air was cold, then the water was bound to be freezing. In Scotland during the winter, smaller lakes would freeze over. In the warmer months, the water would still get cold though. As Iliana walked along, she came upon a few more occupied cabins. First one was completely white with a wooden building attached to it. The next one was another log cabin, with a red roof and a stone chimney. The final cabin was similar to the prior one, only with 2 huge windows on the second floor, plus it was bigger too.

Iliana would have continued on, but something caused her to stop. She spotted something white up ahead. Curious, she approached it at a slower pace. As she got closer, she could see it was a canine. Was it a wolf? Close inspection answered that question. Definitely not. Was it a dog? A very big dog. Did the animal belong to any of the new campers? Iliana couldn't recall seeing any new campers bringing any animals. The only camper who had a pet was Sloane and her dog looked nothing like this one. Seeing she had the dog's attention, Iliana stopped, several feet away from it. Crouching to her feet without putting her knees down. Iliana spoke calmly to the animal.

"Um, hello, are you lost? I won't hurt you."

She didn't expect the dog to understand her, but she didn't know what else to do.

Heath considered what his response would be to Sofia's question. He definitely wasn't the best person to introduce Sofia to Mason. For one thing, the two never really interacted. The last time Heath could recall the two had ANY kind of interaction was when Mason deliberately danced with Iliana, probably to get a rise out of Heath. That was a while ago now. He did have one idea though.

"Well, if possible, it might be a good idea to meet him with Andy around. You remember her right? She's the one who formally welcomed you new campers to the camp. She and Mason are close so he's bound to be in a better mood with her around. If she's not around, just try to be cordial whenever you do meet him. Did you have any ideas on how you were going to introduce yourself?"

"Andy eh and yeah I remember her?" Sofia replied as she took a moment to think. "I had some ideas like meeting him when he was in a good mood or maybe when he is free and at his cabin." Sofia sounded a bit unconfident with that plan."I just want to make a good impression and be on good terms with him. "

It was rare when Heath couldn't think of a full solution to a problem. Then again this was a social issue and Heath would be the first to admit that social situations were not his forte. He bet Blair was an expert at it.

"There is plenty of time for you to meet. I am sure you'll get your chance. Let's see how assessments go first."
Sofia wasn't the only one interested in meeting someone, Heath himself was curious about meeting Pallas and wanted to determine if he was his brother. Heath's thoughts were interrupted when Veronica showed up.

Veronica smiled wearily as she sank onto the bench next to the pair, slowly rolling her shoulders to try to ease up the stiffness that was already setting in. Pushups had definitely been easier overall, but it felt like it had taken her forever to finish, and she somehow hurt worse now than she had after her earlier run through the course.

”Have you two been doing any interesting things while I was having my do-over? Also, how did Iliana’s attempt go?”

Heath looked and saw his sister was still lying on the ground before pointing in her direction.

”Iliana is still lying over there. She was already exhausted when she finished the course the first time and couldn’t even walk back to the bleachers then. She refused my help this, but did take the ointment sample she gave me. I wanted to help, but knowing Lia, she would have been even more mad at me for trying. My sister may not be Scottish like me but she’s just as stubborn as one. As for what we were talking about, it was personal with Sofia. You can let her know if you want to, Sofia since it’s not my place to talk about it.”

”Maybe we’re all extra stubborn, with us being demigods, you know?” Veronica nodded her head in agreement to what Heath had said before turning to listen to Sofia.

"Well…" Sofia thought for a minute before continuing. "Since people are going to find out eventually and people here are okay with people like him." There was some heaviness with her words. Like she was trying to lift a weight off her chest. "Me and Heath were talking about Mason since he is my half-brother and I want to talk to him. Despite how it can be hard to approach him as I am told."

Since people were comfortable with people being the children of Hades at camp despite what Hades has done. Sofia figured it would be best if she did not hide who her father was. More so since Heath explained how Mason was treated and she can be open to people like she is now.

"Have you met Mason, Veronica?" Sofia seeing if she could help with the matter.

Veronica thought for a moment, then shook her head, as she couldn’t remember if she had or not, though she’d met a few campers during the night of Pandora’s Box, so she might have. She sat in silence, mulling over what Sofia had said about her parentage and her sibling, though she was a little taken aback at the dismissive tone when she’d referred to Mason. Veronica wasn’t as familiar with events that others at Camp had dealt with before her arrival, though Heath and Iliana had told her a little about the trials. They had also mentioned rumors of what others had gone through at the hands of various gods, but she was struggling to reconcile those against what little she knew of her own mother, let alone any of the others.

”No I haven’t. Though I’m pretty sure we saw him knock one of the new campers over on the dance floor last night.” She voiced her answer to Sofia, just in case it hadn’t been clear before continuing ”I’m not sure what to think about his dad, and yours, like, is he really as bad as people keep saying? I mean, everyone acts like he’s the same as he was in the Disney movie, or worse!” She gave Sofia a guilty smile ”I did love that movie though, and Hades was one of the best characters. But, even if he is what everyone thinks or says he is, even then, what does that make you and Mason? You’re you, and he’s him, and we’re none of us our parents. As for who Mason is, Andy would know better than any of us, Sofia.”

After she finished her rambling attempt to get the jumble of thoughts out into the air, she thought back over what she’d actually said and gave Sofia a sheepish smile. ”Sorry, that probably wasn’t helpful… I, um, used to read a lot of comics and, well, fiction about gods, and other things. Veronica blushed a little and glanced down before continuing, ”like, I’ve seen a lot of different adaptations of your father in musicals, stories, and art. So it’s that it’s hard to see them as ‘evil’ anymore. Maybe they just romanticised him, and I was drawn to the fairytale of it or something. Sorry, I… I’ll just be quiet now.”

It seemed that Veronica was struggling to add to the conversation. She was doing her best though it seemed, at least in Heath’s opinion. She did mention Andy was the best person to ask, similar to what he mentioned earlier.

”I never ask my mother if any of the tales written about her were true. Obviously the only one that’s not true is she’s one one of the Virgin Goddesses,” he said with a soft chuckle at the end.

The stories were interesting though, that’s for sure. Still unlike some, his mother was mostly portrayed in a positive light. But that was something Heath really thought about much. He just focused on the matter at hand.

”Anyway, Veronica, I was just about to escort Sofia here to my cabin since I promised her shortbread cookies. You’re welcome to join us if you have nothing else to do. Sofia, I’ll let you borrow the container the cookies are in if you promise to return the container back to me.”

And he would know if she would keep her word or not. What he saw so far of Sofia was a genuine good person, much more outgoing than Mason.
Sofia listened to what both Veronica and Heath said intently and it seemed to her like the best option to talk to Mason would be to ask Andy about it. But it seems that she should clear up why she has a negative view of her father, Hades. Since it is the main reason she is at camp in the first place.

Starting with Veronica first, "Still, thanks Veronica and Heath you too. I now have a plan in mind and I just need to catch Andy when she is free." Whenever that would be. "But I promise Heath to return the container, I am not one to steal or break a word. " Sofia sounded like she meant it. "Plus we live in the same camp, so I cannot really hide where I live." An unserious and joking tone.

Then came the serious part and her face and tone reflected it. "But I should say why I have this view of my father and it is from my mother. Who was a medium and yes the kind that talks to ghosts." That last part sounded like she was used to people asking that question about her mother. ”So my mother through one of her sessions, discovered things about Hades. Bad stuff he did and she wanted me to come to camp so I could be safe away from him. That is the reason I am here and I believe my mother but I never actually met Hades." Could her mother be wrong maybe but in her experience. The dead rarely lie and it was her mother’s spirit that told her this. So she should not be lying about Hades and Sofia trusts her mother’s words.

"So that is why and how about we go get those cookies now?" Sofia realizing she kinda ruined the mood can tried to change the subject, her tone quickly shifting to a happier one. But it was the truth and she will not lie about it. "You want to come with Veronica?"

”Only if you promise to share some of those delicious sounding cookies, I’m famished after this morning.” Veronica replied teasingly in an attempt to lighten the mood following Sofia’s revelation. Though what exactly the other girl had been told by her Mother about what she’d learned during one of her sessions was still a mystery, so Veronica remained a little skeptical. For all Mason was quiet and slightly volatile when it came to others interacting with Andy she wasn’t in favour of taring him with the same brush as whatever it was Sofia knew but hadn’t shared. But they all had secrets, she knew that well enough from those she kept tightly bound inside.

Veronica got back to her feet, feeling a little wobbling as her stomach grumbled in protest, making her wonder if she ought to go get something more substantial to eat but a snack with friends sounded like a good option right about now. ”Lead on, Macduff?” she gave a slight bow and waved her hand to invite the other two to lead the way out of the arena.

Heath continued listening in on what the two said while keeping an eye on Iliana. It had been around several minutes and she was still flat on the ground. Heath would be the first to admit it was hard to pay attention to Sofia and Veronica when his brotherly instincts demanded he check on her again. But his logical mind reminded him of his promise too. Hearing Sofia having a mom for a medium was interesting for sure. Then again, a good number of his relatives were practicing Wiccans. His father never got involved, he told him once he just didn’t ‘feel the need’ and was more interested in more modern stuff. He still respected Wicca though.

As they stood up though, Veronica quoted, or rather, misquoted a line from MacBeth. Heath couldn’t help but chuckle and in a gentle tone, corrected her.
”Um, Veronica, it’s ‘Lay On, MacDuff.’ Nice try though.”

Veronica straightened up, and looked at Heath quizically, ”I… er, we only did Shakespeare once at school, but are you sure? I’ve always heard it as ‘lead on’. We did put on a play but it was Midsummer Night’s Dream, so you’re probably right.”

”Well one of my private tutors suggested I read Shakespeare when I was old enough, and since MacBeth takes place in my homeland, it was the first one I read when I was 13. I was already in college, and my university had it. I memorized the whole book in no time and even learned it in Scottish Gaelic. Good story, but I personally don’t like it since I don’t like the main character of MacBeth.”
Picking up his extra stuff, he automatically started putting it on, despite getting warm. He made sure his sister’s stuff was in one place too whenever she came back for it.

Turning to the two ladies, he said, ”Shall we ladies?”

Sofia smiled and gathered her things. "Sure Heath," putting on her jacket despite it being warm. In preparation for the cold. That went well, she thought about the whole Hades topic. But more to that is for another day, for now it is time for some cookies. "Lead the way," she motioned to him and started following him out of the arena.

After the three of them exited the arena, Veronica glanced back the way they’d come as a thought occurred to her, namely that she’d finished her second round but had just left, and so she was worried if she was supposed to have done that or not.

”Oh darn it, I was going to check with River once I was done. Sorry, I’ll catch you guys later.” She turned and jogged back into the arena, though after a few steps her body screamed out in protest, so the return journey to River was more of an uneasy hobble as she clutched a stitch in her side till it subsided as she reached him.

Heath turned sharply as Veronica turned back around. River was definitely going to be a busy guy. He didn’t envy the position that’s for sure. However if he ever did take up a leadership position, he would handle it the best he could. He would certainly try to help out River when he could.

”Well, hopefully she’ll sort things out with River. Under normal circumstances I’d wait for her, but it’s freezing out here and that recommendation wouldn’t do us much good. Luckily my cabin isn’t too far from the arena.” he said, leading them from the arena towards his location.

"Yeah, doing the course and thirty pushups is not easy. But, I hope it does work out for her." He seems like an okay guy so far, Sofia thought as she followed Heath out of the arena and back into the cold. But how the rest of camp will be like under him will go. Sofia just hopes it is one that she will be fine with.

Nelly did her best to give the two new campers her undivided attention. Both of them had very different demeanors. Rae seemed to be more anxious while Zelia had this outgoing vibe that Nelly could relate too. Rae mentioning how sore she felt made Nelly remember something Iliana said. She had brought an ointment just for that kind of condition.

"Oh! I have a friend here who's working on different ointments. She's trying to work on one for sore muscles. When I get the chance, I'll ask her if it's any good and get you some if it is. Her name is Iliana and she's Demeter's daughter and is into Herbology now especially since Pandora's Box. Now as for how I am doing, not 100% if you can believe that. I barely managed to beat the only guy in our group, Mason. Next time I'll make sure I am on my A-game."

Rae by all appearances seemed to lack self-confidence in herself. Nelly hoped that by being here she would find her footing. Nelly try to recall if she ever felt like that and couldn't really think of a time like it. She had felt vulnerable and scared at times. Like moving out on her own when she turned 18 had been harder than she thought because she knew she wouldn't be seeing her mother as much. But the idea of living on her own excited her too. Nelly was raised to be independent. Her mom was the perfect example of that, having never married. Her mom even admitted to never wanting to be a mom at first. She had been using protection when she hooked up her dad for that one night, but being a Deity obviously had its perks- overriding any kind of protection being one of them. Her mom's view of marriage came from her own upbringing, her parents divorced and it had gotten ugly. At least it didn't get violent. Her mom didn't want anything to do with her grandparents and Nelly had yet to meet them, nor did she have any interest either. Apparently what Linda Givens learned from her parents was how not to be a parent.

Listening to Zelia and her mentioning of lightning had caused Nelly to raise an eyebrow. There hadn't been any lightning recently. Snowing sure, but where did Zelia get the idea that the lightning was louder? That's when she had a thought, was Zelia one of Zeus's offspring? All thoughts of who Zelia's divine parent was went out her head when the demigod complimented her on what she was wearing.

Smiling brightly, Nelly said, "Thanks! I love colors in general, so I never shy away from them. Being a redhead, it can be hard to find colors that don't clash with my hair. I am a natural redhead, but it's technically a brownish red like my mom's. Apparently, that's one of the things that caught my dad's eye. Oh, my dad is Hermes."

Finally, River came forward and started giving out the results. Nelly waited on bated breath to hear her results. She heard Zelia's time and it was tied with Sylas and Lochlan's, as well as two other guys' names she didn't recognize. She gave Zelia two thumbs up in congratulations for she didn't want to interrupt River. It wasn't long before her name came up. 12:30, that made sense considering the several blunders she had. If she had been on her A game, she would have been closer to Zelia's time. Thank goodness she was quick on her feet, even without her powers. She nearly whooped hearing Fiona's time right after her time, but managed to hold back because again, she didn't want to disrupt River. Not to mention she probably look like a fool too. Nelly knew she could make a spectacle of herself, but it was always unintentionally and she wanted to try to not look like a food if she could help it.

Hearing the rest of the names, Nelly offered Rae a sympathetic smile when she heard her name after the 15-minute cut-off time. River then said that anyone who finished under 15 minutes could leave, but those who didn't had to redo the whole thing again. Nelly was glad she didn't have to redo things.

Her attention was diverted when Rae stood up and said, “Well, guess I’ll just… get this over with.”

Nelly would have said something but Zelia moved, reaching out and grabbing a hold of Rae's wrist. She gave her some good words of encouragement. Looks like Rae had all of the help she needed. Nelly didn't want to leave them without saying anything either. Standing up herself, she grabbed her stuff and coughed into her hand to get their attention.

Smiling at Rae, Nelly replied, “Hey, at least with this one you can take your time. I wish I could help, but all of that running really didn't help me since I drank a lot last night. It's a wonder I managed to win our group because I kept getting dizzy. Besides,” she added, nodding toward Zelia, “Zelia here is in way better condition than me. I wish you the best, Rae. By the way, since you're both new, the Main Hall pretty much serves whatever you want. I want to check something before I take a bath and get something to eat. I am famished. If either of you has any questions about camp in general, feel free to ask me, and I'll try to help as best as I can. Toodles!”

With that, Nelly walked away, going down the steps and exiting the arena. Stepping out into the cold though reminded her quickly to bundle up again. She wanted to see what happened to Duke before checking on Fiona. While walking, she noticed footprints in the snow leading towards Duke's cabin. Curious, she followed them before coming upon the cabin. The door to it was open and she could see only darkness. Where was Duke? Too curious for her own good, and concern for him, she walked up to the entryway and through the door. She wished she had a flashlight on her. However her ears picked up crying, and she could make out someone against one of the walls, on the floor. Her eyes looked closely and she recognized Fiona. It was then she realized the place was totally empty. Nelly recalled all of the cabins looked this way before anyone 'claimed them'. Did Duke leave without saying goodbye? That was odd for him. However that wasn't important right now. Fi was in clear distress and Nelly wanted to help. She approached slowly like she was approaching a scared animal. She had seen wild animals before and had learned to be cautious and respectful. She used the same strategy now. When she was about a foot away, Nelly knelt down and scooted close enough to place a hand on her friend's shoulder.

In her gentlest voice, she said quietly, "I am here Fi."

Happy to see Veronica taking the rest of her sample, she made a mental note to make more if Veronica liked it. Well, she knew she would make more for herself and she would see if anyone else would be up to try some, so she'd make more samples. She'd ask Blair if she wanted any. She did give her some good advice last night and she wanted to show her some appreciation. Plus she really felt bad for her now too, although she wouldn't be surprised if Blair did not want to hear that. No one she knew liked to be pitied. She certainly didn't want anyone to feel bad for her if they knew about her past. She was still trying to get past that, but that would be a very long road.

She heard Leo ask what they thought of River. She heard Heath's reply which was a very Heath thing to say. Heath hated jumping to conclusions. As for what she thought of River, she was in a similar boat like Heath, but she also had talked with the new camp leader, without knowing. The one thing she recalled was his inner intense emotions at some point, despite acting calm the entire time. She wasn't bound to reveal her true thoughts yet, so she just stuck with basic things. Heath would know she was being truthful, but hopefully he wouldn't know it was the whole truth. That was one thing Heath couldn't do was tell if someone was telling the entire truth like secrets.

"Well, I got to briefly meet him last night. He was pretty polite. I am willing to give him a chance. I came here to train, so what he has said is promising."

And that was true. She hoped to get better in all aspects; she just wasn't sure how that progress would go. Speaking of River, he chose that moment to speak up and go through the results. As she listened to the results, she was happy to hear a few names she knew doing well, like Nelly and Lochlan. She was getting nervous as the times were read. Not for herself, she knew she did poorly, but Heath. Just like her brother, she too sighed in relief hearing he just made the time. As she listened to the names of those who missed the 15-minute mark, she waited patiently for her name. Her eyes rested on Veronica in sympathy when her name came up. Then came her name, with one other named Ariana. Over 2 minutes late, that stung. Blair getting last place made her feel even more sorry. She wonder how Blair would have done if she was sober. River's next words though caught her off guard.

Redo the whole course again. Iliana's eyes widen. Again?! She was already exhausted and aching. Then she remembered the other things he said. She could take her time and ask for help if need be. That was something at least. She was about to stand up until Heath started talking, mentioning he would help her. Without thinking, Iliana stood up, her temper appearing out of nowhere as her grip on her power slipped and a cold wind whipped up around her. Suddenly, she remembered where she was the wind died. She was embarrassed but she wouldn't admit it yet. Instead she glared at Heath.

"I don't think so. I may have done terribly on this course, but I don't need a babysitter. If I need help, I'll ask for it. Best of luck Veronica." she said before storming off.

Her cheeks were red with embarrassment. Why did she lose her temper like that? The answer came to her, she didn't want Heath making decisions without asking her permission first. Still that was no excuse to allow her powers get the better of her. She would apologize to Leo, Sofia, and Veronica later.

Approaching the start of the course again, she saw Wes doing pushups. Guess there was another option, but pride dictated she do the course again. She saw a few others had already started. She could do this, hopefully it wouldn't kill her in the process. The tire section forced her to go a bit fast due to the tire separation. If she went slow, she'd likely trip and fall. She definitely took her time with the next few obstacles. Her arms and legs were already on fire when she was done with both and she took her time to take some breaths and rest a little. Looking she saw Heath in the distance, watching her. She frowned and shook her head but just let him be. He just couldn't help himself could he? He could have gone to get Sofia her cookies instead of trying to babysit her. Wanting to prove Heath she could do the course without his help, she moved on, which was the dreaded rope climb.

Try as she might, she couldn't even get up half a foot. Her upper body strength was just not there. If River decided to do basic workout sessions, she hoped upper body strength was one of the lessons. Begrudgingly, she moved on. The rope bridge was a welcome site and she went at a steady and slow pace because she wanted to catch her breath for what was next, the rope swing. Remembering how Nelly had fun on this part, she tried viewing it from that point of view, but seeing the water underneath and having already experienced it, it made her nervous all over again.

"Cut it out, Lia, you can do this," she scolded herself.

Taking a deep breath, she ran and jumped. While she managed to hang on a bit longer due to her stubborn nature, she still didn't have the strength to hold on for long and ended up in the water again. Frustrated, she again try to keep her emotions at bay. Powers weren't allowed again. Looking up as she slowly got to her feet, she saw Heath again. Seeing him drove her to keep going, even though it wasn't the reason he would think. She wanted to prove she could finish this course a 2nd time. Hopefully this would be the last time too.

The balance beam and swimming portions were bad by any means, but with both Iliana just was slower than last time. While swimming, she just floated on her back at times, looking up at the sky trying to relax and catch her breath before she kept moving. She had hoped that relaxing in the swimming part would make the ladder less grueling, well, it didn't since her arms were still shot. At least going down was a relief. Finally, the last obstacle. She managed to clear it last time, so hopefully she'd be able to do so again. Unfortunately, she had no strength left, so when she jumped, she landed in the water again. Feeling tears threatening to spill over, she stubbornly held them in as she exited the course. She laid on her back, taking deep breaths. Suddenly she felt herself drying up. Turning her head, she saw River. Did he dry her up? If so that was nice of him. She would still need to take an actual shower though.

She felt Heath's presence before turning her head and seeing him as he stood over her.

"Here's your other ointment. You need it more than me. Do you want me to carry you back to your cabin?"

Iliana definitely didn't want him carting her back this time, so she instantly shook her head for she was totally out of breath. Seeing him offer her the sample she gave him, she decided he was right this time, and managed to raise her hand. After that, he left, letting her be.

Iliana didn't know how long she laid there, but she did know if she kept laying on the ground, she would probably fall asleep. So taking a deep breath, she slowly turned to her side and sat up. Looking around, she saw a good number of people have left, including Heath and Sofia. She saw River was still around, sitting next to someone she didn't know. She recalled her from one of the earlier races though. Iliana took a deep breath and managed to get to her feet and slowly made her way over.

"River, I just wanted to thank you for staying. You didn't have to do that," she started to say, taking a few more breaths before continuing, "I hope I can get better over time. One of my biggest reasons for coming here was to train, the other being to meet others like me besides my adopted brother, Heath. Anyway, sorry for interrupting you two. I just wanted to thank River. Both of you have a nice day."

She would have lingered, but the dark hair demigoddess's presence unnerved her for some reason. If she wasn't so exhausted she would have tried to figure that out. She did try keeping eye contact with her when finally addressing her. After she was done talking, she nodded and turned to get her outerwear before finally leaving the arena and headed towards her cabin.

Heath nodded when they were allowed to sit with them. His father drilled manners into him, when it was appropriate at least. Iain Taylor had a tough spine. One had to when teaching teenagers, at least that's what he told him. Heath nor Iliana went to regular school, not at first at least. In Heath's case, he was too smart academically and was already in college by the time he entered his teen years. Iliana had trouble with her abilities so for safety reasons, she was taught at home. His aunts taught her since both were stay at home mothers anyway. His Aunt Brigid taught her humanities, including history, while his Aunt Maeve taught her sciences and math. Iliana did go to college, but that was when her abduction happened. He wondered if she would ever consider going back. Well, that wasn't important right now.

Once River came forward again and started going through the scores. Looks like his guess of Trinity being first was correct. Leo had tied for second along with River and one other female. He tried paying attention to every name, but it was hard, but he took note of ones he was familiar with. The first name from his group was Colton. Sadly, Heath didn't know if that was the blonde nor the dark skin guy either. The blonde had already left by the time Heath cleared the last obstacle, and the other guy seemed to be conversing with River briefly. At least that's what he recalled as he was waiting for his sister to finish. And one of them was still bound to be his brother too. Patience was key here. His mind tuned back to River when he heard Sofia's name, and then he and Anissa had the exact same time right before the 15-minute mark. Heath released a breath he didn't know he was holding. Heath knew he had work to do, but the idea of failing anything didn't sit well with him either, considering he put a lot of pressure on himself since Athena was his mother, and it was still a fear of his of letting her down. As he listened to the names of those who didn't make the 15-minute mark, he couldn't help but wonder if there would be some ramifications for not finishing on time. Finally, he heard Veronica and Iliana's names with Blair finishing last, no surprised there considering she had gotten ill. He wondered if he should check up on her too. It was the decent thing to do. River's next words changed his mind though.

"For everyone that remains, you will run the course a second time. You won’t be timed, so you can complete it at your leisure. It isn’t about speed, but practice, learning, and muscle memory. Powers are still prohibited, but you’re welcome to help each other."

There was the ramification. Rules were rules, his mind kept telling him. But Heath still had his emotions and he wasn't happy with the decision at all. Still he would not question it. Instead he would do something about it. However, both Sofia and Leo spoke up with Leo asking them how they felt about River.

"Too early to tell for me, but he does mean everything he said, so that's in his favor, that he hasn't lied yet. One of my abilities is to detect lies."

And he would leave it at that. Heath would wait and see what else River would do. After Iliana and Veronica answered that question, Heath was quick to speak up again.

"Sofia, since you're staying put, I am going to ask that you wait for those cookies too, I am going to help Iliana with the course since River is allowing it."

That got his sister's attention and she was quick to rise and stare at him. Plus the wind suddenly picked up a bit before dying down just as fast. She was not happy with his last statement though, which was clear.

"I don't think so. I may have done terribly on this course, but I don't need a babysitter. If I need help, I'll ask for it. Best of luck Veronica." she said before storming off.

Well that could have gone better. Heath shook his head. Looks like he better explain the "wind" to Leo and Sofia. Better make them aware now than later.

"Sorry about that. Iliana is a nice person, she's just been trying to improve herself recently especially after more recent events. Just to make you aware, she's the one who caused that cold wind to blow just now. Demeter is her mother. I was just always raised to keep an eye on Iliana because of past experiences. Veronica, if you need help, I can try to help too. Iliana may not want my help, but I'll do down and keep an eye on her in case she changes her mind. It was nice meeting you Leo. Sofia, I'll see you soon, thanks for your patience." he said before heading down towards the course again.

He saw how River allowed Wes to do push ups instead, which was nice of him and earned him a few points considering the course was pretty much impossible to do with one arm. Something had to done about that. Maybe Daniel or Andy could create him a prosthetic one or Duke if he ever showed up. The fact that his name was never called was concerning. Focusing on his sister again, he focused purely on her as she struggled through the course again. However he couldn't help but check up on his other sister too. While Blair was also struggling, something was different this time. That's when it dawned on him, she wasn't hungover anymore and in fact her color looked better. How did THAT happen? Did someone help her? The only person who could do that would be child of Apollo due to their healing abilities. Another question for another time. Soon she started interacting with the blonde from his group. Watching them, he soon came to the conclusion that the blonde was NOT Pallas based on the body language. Blair might be a lot of things, but she would never flirt with a sibling. Still, he would make sure he had all of his ducks in a row so he wouldn't be jumping to conclusions.

Iliana eventually finished and Heath was there to greet her when she finished. She was sprawled on the ground again too. He waited for he to catch her breath before speaking to her.

"Here's your other ointment. You need it more than me. Do you want me to carry you back to your cabin?"

Iliana shook her head but did raise her hand to take the ointment. Heath gives it to her and wonders if there was more he could do for her. She finally speaks up.

"Get Sofia her cookies. I'll be fine. I need a good shower then I'll get my lunch. Please Heath, let me be, thanks though."

Seeing he had no other choice; Heath reluctantly heads back to the bleachers. He hated leaving her like that, but whenever she pleaded to him, he could never deny her. He would let her have her way for now since the situation was stable. If there was one thing he and Iliana had in common, both were stubborn. At least he was patient for the most part. Reaching Sofia, he saw Leo had indeed left.

"How are you holding up by the way. I'll wait with you since you said you'd wait for Veronica. Did you ever get to meet Mason?"

He wondered if she did, but he hoped at least that she figured out who Mason was since he was the only male in Nelly's group.

Thank you folks for the replies. I do enjoy hearing different perspectives.

One of the struggles I feel narrative RPGs do have is when players leave. I've yet to be in an RPG when a player doesn't leave. What makes it tricky is if a char plays a certain role and that player leaves, you need to find another player to create a char to fill that role.

Watching the progress of other campers, Heath wasn't surprised by the results of some, considering what he knew of them. While Wes obviously struggled with a lack of arm, he still pushed through. Still he wouldn't be surprised if he didn't make the 15 minute timer. Heath began to wonder if someone didn't make the timer. He hoped he made time, but fully admitted that he slipped up at times, even by checking on his sister. Looking at Iliana, her breathing had returned to normal and she was now sitting up watching the last group. While it only consisted of four people, all 4 did very well, especially Trinity who blazed throw it. If Heath didn't know better, he wouldn't be surprised if she did better than River, but it was hard to tell.

Looking back at Sofia's group, he had to remember to let her know he made those shortbread cookies for her. He thought of bringing them with him, but decided it be best to give them to her afterward. She had asked him about Mason. Seeing how she had raced with him in Nelly's group, he figured she would know what he looked like now at least. Hopefully things would we well in that area.

Heath was so busy observing what others were doing that when he looked over, he saw Nelly was missing. His sister was putting on her healing ointment though.

"Where did Nelly go?"

"She got bored so she's talking with some new campers. One is the redhead from her group. I am about to go check on Veronica to see how she is since it looks like everyone has gone." Iliana said, slowly standing up.

"Don't you think we should wait and see what River has to say next? We might not be done yet."

Iliana gave him an annoyed look before saying, "You have a point, but I still want to check on her."

Crossing his arms, Heath countered, "How are you feeling though? You could barely move not too long ago."

Iliana's spine stiffen and she said, "Exhausted, but I think I can manage walk over to Veronica and her group, they're not too far from us."

Heath chuckled and relented. His sister could be just as stubborn as him.

"Okay, but can I come with you, there's something I need to tell Sofia."

Iliana sighed and agreed.

Prior to her own race, Iliana watched as others competed. Some were amazing like Andy, Nelly, and Leo. Others struggled like Blair, Wes, and Evelyn. Iliana concentrated on the races so not to be bothered by all of the emotions of others swirling around her.

After her own race, she had been too exhausted to care what happened next. While she didn't get sick like Blair at the end of hers, she did want to lay down and sleep. But if Blair could make it back to her seat, even with help from Lochlan, she could stay awake. She remembered when she first learned to climb trees. It had been one of her earliest memories when her father was still alive. She was about 3 or 4 and had been walking in a forest area with her dad, well, she was in a stroller her dad was pushing her in. She had been 'talking to the trees' when she got out of her stroller and ran up to a small one and tried 'climbing' it, but it was impossible given how tall first branches from her were. He dad laughed and grabbed her and put her on the closest branch. He promised if he ever have the time, he'd teach her, and he did, until his passing. She would continue to learn how to do that, even in the brief time she was in Olympus with her mom.

Remembering those good times helped Iliana start to regain her strength of bit. She sit up in time to see Nelly start to get up. Heath was too busy watching the current race to notice.

"Whelp, I am bored. I am going to walk around the arena a bit. Looks like this will be the last group too. Catcha later." Nelly said before going off.

Iliana watched her until she ended up sitting with campers she didn't know but recognized. One was a redhead that Iliana remembered was in Nelly's group. Other was in Lochlan and Blair's group. Deciding to let them be, Iliana decided to try the ointment she made. Putting it on her arms first. The main ingredient she used was peppermint, but she made sure that the scent wasn't too strong. She thought of lavender, but she didn't think any of the guys would want to smell like that. The cooling effect peppermint provided worked instantly and felt really good. She was happy with that aspect.

Looking towards Veronica's group, she figured now would be a good time to check on her before River spoke up again, because she was sure he would now that everyone had gone, well as far as those who shown up. There were still people missing. She was very much aware that Duke's name had never been called and wondered what was up. And Baxter never showed his face at all.

Suddenly, Heath spoke up asking about Nelly. After answering him, Iliana stood up and Heath asking where she was going. After the two conversed a bit, well more like bicker, Heath stood up and the siblings headed towards Veronica, Leo, and Sofia. They were sure to take their extra stuff with them.

Once there, Iliana was the first to speak up.

"Hi Veronica, are you going to be okay? I've been working on my ointments and I just tried my newest on myself. It works pretty good. It's for source muscles and my arms are jelly right now so they definitely needed it. I still have some to spare if you want to try it. It's made with peppermint." she said before handing the ointment to Veronica.

Looking at the two new campers, Iliana spoke again,"Hi, I am Iliana. This is Heath, my adoptive brother. His father took me in after I . . lost my dad."

It was never easy explaining her and Heath's relationship since she always mentioned her dad. Memory of it was forever etched in her mind. Hopefully one day she could say it without hesitating.

Heath caught his sister's hesitation and quickly took the lead.

"Nice seeing you again Sofia. I did make more shortbread cookies, but they're at my place. I'll get them for you after training is over. I just wanted to let you know. Do you mind if we sit you guys? It looks like River is about to speak up."

After sitting down, the pair got ready to hear what River had to say.

After cooling down, Nelly sat and watched others go. She hadn't paid the most attention to the group that went right after her group, but she did take note that the redhead male that was with Sofia and Veronica earlier did win. She did admit he was a fine specimen of a man and couldn't blame Iliana for staring at him. She wonder who his parent was. She remembered seeing him with Duke yesterday. Speaking of which, where was Duke? His name hadn't been called yet and she hadn't spotted him in the arena. His cabin wasn't too far from hers, she would check it later, AFTER that bath she promised herself. Or she could check it out on the way back too. Making a mental note of that, she continued to watch others.

The fifth group was not great all. Even the best one of them, who Nelly remembered had come to check on Blair, struggled at times. Evelyn definitely wasn't having a good time, but the worst one not only struggled, but Nelly could tell she was not enjoying the parts where she got dirty. While Iliana never worried about getting dirty, she did have outfits that would drive her nuts if she got ruined. Nelly was not one to splurge on clothes, but there were special occasions when she did dress up in something nice that cost her a pretty penny. So her heart did go out to the brunette.

The next group was Heath and Iliana. Watching Iliana was painful, so she watched Heath for a bit before focusing on her friend Fiona. She was definitely doing better than Heath. While she ended up finishing third, Nelly felt proud of her. Watching Fiona return to her seat, Nelly clapped and cheered at her to make sure Fiona heard her.

"You go girl!!" Nelly called out.

Sitting back down, she saw Heath return with Iliana and put her down. Nelly didn't have to ask what was up with her, she could see it clearly. Iliana was the type to wear her heart on her sleeve at times too. Nelly patted her on her back before looking at the next group. She was not surprised by Trinity's performance. The woman wasn't Ares's daughter for nothing. The guy behind her was giving her a run for her money and she recognized him as the guy who ate a mountain of food at the party. Another dark hair guy was doing great too. Daniel was doing a decent job but the others were clearly better. She noticed it was only the four of them and no one else was called. Up to that point, five people were called, but only four were called here. Did that mean this was the last group? Where was Duke?

Deciding not to worry about it, Nelly decided she had enough of sitting down and wanted to see if there was anyone she could talk to. She considered joining Fiona's group, but figured her friend could interact with her brother more. Looking over the crowd, she spotted the other redhead from her own group, along with one of the brand new campers she never spotted yesterday. Perfect. Standing up, she told Iliana what she was doing before grabbing her stuff and moving towards the pair.

Making it closer, she waved toward them before speaking.

"Hi there. I hope I am not interrupting. I just got tired of sitting in one place and was hoping I could join you two since I want to meet all of the new campers here. My name is Penelope, but call me Nelly, please. How are you both feeling by the way?" she asked before sitting near them.

She still had a massive headache and was still feeling a bit queasy, but just being around others always made her feel better.
