Bio

Long time roleplayer since 2000. I could never get into DnD, so when I learned about "Post by Play" RPGs, I decided to give it a go to improve my writing skills. Started in Yahoo! Clubs which would eventually become Yahoo! Groups. After that site died down, I would eventually find Gateway Roleplay in 2011. Recently that site died so one RPG I was in migrated here in April 2025.

One thing all RPGs I've been involved in have Romance. That's mandatory for me. I prefer pre-planned romance, but I can do the natural too. Besides roleplaying, I also play video games, read romance novels and manga, draw, write, and watch YT videos a lot.

OH! I definitely think taking players' ideas into account is important. Like I have the major plot points in my head. But how we get to those plot points is where things differ. Like I also want to give players as much creative freedom as possible.

Thanks for the feedback!
I've been doing Written RPGs now for 25 years. Most RPGs I've participated in and created have been Narrative driven RPGs. I started getting into this stuff to help improve my writing skills since creating stories is a hobby of mine (I once considered it as a career choice, but that never panned out). In recent years (like almost the past 10 years), I've seen more RPGs that are mostly char driven. Now they have been around for 25, but it seems more players are into those types now because it's easier to 'get into'. There still a narrative in these RPGs, but there's no real end goal and the GM comes up with ideas along the way. I still love char progression, but I find it easier to create stories where there's an actual conclusion.

So I was curious how y'all feel about RPGs with strong narratives? I ask because I'd like to create an RPG here, but I am still on the fence because I don't know how people feel about a narrative driven RPG.

Thanks!

Prior to Nelly's run . . .

Both Heath and Iliana couldn't help but overhear the conversation between Nelly and Evelyn. Heath caught Evelyn's confused look at him too and he merely shrugged in response. He had no clue on where Nelly got the idea that two people had to do that sort of thing in Seven Minutes in Heaven. If Heath had to guess, it was probably Fiona since those two were good friends now. But that was a guess since Nelly enjoyed talking to a lot of people.

When Nelly started stretching, Evelyn asked her what she found appealing about Sylas, or so she assumed Sylas since they just talked about him.

"If you're talking about Sylas, I honestly don't know. I just felt instantly drawn to him because of his enigmatic persona. Charming for sure, but unpredictable. I know now he's someone I don't want to underestimate, if his trial taught me anything. Why do you ask? Have you got your eye on him?"

The first part was said in a serious tone, which is rare for Nelly, but it turned playful when she asked those last two questions. Her eyes twinkled at Evelyn. She very tempted to ask how well Sylas kissed, but not only was that in bad tasted, but even Nelly would never ask such a personal question in front of others.

After Nelly's run

Heath had overall been impressed with Nelly's run, even though Mason gave her a run for her money. Sofia had done a decent job too. Iliana was wondering how she was going to get through this course in one piece. One thing was sure, after this, she was going to work out more. Soon the fourth group was called out and three of those names stuck out to Iliana. First was Leo and to her surprise it was the red-head guy sitting near Veronica, who had been called as well. She recalled last night that Duke told her he was a son of Ares, making him Trinity's sibling. Looking around she spotted Trinity. This sibling did look nicer, and Duke did say to give him a chance. So she would. The other name was Baxter. He was the guy who gave her that nice drink last night. Where was he? Heath also noticed only four campers too.

"Someone didn't show up. River is not going to be happy about that since in his announcement he wanted us to be here on time."

Iliana nodded, agreeing with him. The idea of being late or not showing up terrified her and she knew River was capable of intense emotions.

"Well, I am going to warm up before my name is called. Do you want to join me, Lia?"

Iliana nodded and the two went about their own routine while Iliana continued to watch the race. Leo blazed through it similar to River. The dark hair male wasn't too far behind him, but the other dark hair female and Veronica took a little longer to finish. She wished she could go down there and check on Veronica. She promised herself she would do just that after training was done that day. Heath and Iliana finished their stretching before the 5th group could be called out. Heath wondered how Wes was going to do certain courses, especially the rope climb when he lacked an arm. Hopefully there was something else he could do.

During this whole time, Nelly had been cooling down and was feeling a bit better after doing that, returning to her old seat. She was definitely going to have a nice, good bath after this though. Watching the current group, it seemed to her that the only one doing decently was the lady out in front. The rest seemed to be struggling one way or another. Her heart went out to Wes naturally. She wanted to cheer for them too, but being close to others, she didn't want to accidentally shout in someone's ear.

After the last runner finished the course, it wasn't long for the 6th group was called. Hearing Heath and Iliana's names, Nelly turned to them.

"Good luck you two," she smiled at them.

Iliana looked very nervous but nodded.

"Thanks. Come on, sis, let's go," Heath said before heading down, with Iliana following him.

One name did stick out to Heath though. Pallas. That happened to be his middle name. Besides Fiona, there was two other males, one who was a blonde like him, and the other with darker skin. One of them was probably his half-brother. It was too much of a coincidence not to be. He would find out eventually, but for now his attention was on the course.

Iliana looked briefly at the others in her group. She had no doubt Fiona would do well. Of course she hoped Heath did good too. Looking briefly at the other two males, both good like they were in great condition. If anyone was going to struggle, it be her.

Just then the race started. Heath had no issues with the tires but knew he didn't do it as quickly as other did. He wanted to pace himself after all. The log jumps were harder to do than he thought though. He was going to work on his upper body strength for sure. He saw Fiona was a nice distance from him and could barely see the two males, but he wasn't going to worry about them. Important thing was to take no more than 15 minutes. After completing the 2nd obstacle, he couldn't help but look back to see how Iliana was doing and she was struggling on the log jumps. Hoping she improved, he moved onto the next obstacle, which was the low crawl. This proved to be trickier than he thought. He never did this activity before, and he tried recalling how other did it, which did help. This type of workout definitely required good core strength. Already Heath was thinking of ways to improve his own routine.

Getting up, Heath was tempted to check on his sister again but manage to not get distracted. Instead, he focused on the rope climb, which really was as hard as others seemed. He went a bit slower than he liked but barely managed to make it up to the top. Once he was down, he did glance at Iliana since he need to take a breath or two. He couldn't see her, so he assumed she was in the low crawl. Moving on, he didn't have too much trouble with either the rope bridge nor the swing. In fact, he hoped he was making up for loss time by the time he got to the balance beam. This was probably the easiest for him if he was honest since he was always good with balance, but it going down was a bit tricky. Thank goodness he was patient like his mom. It was a nice relief when he got into the water. This was something he did miss. Scotland had brief short summers, so they always made the most of it and often took trips to a nearby lake to swim growing up. This reminded him of that. He didn't take too casual though, this course was still timed.

Once out of the water, Heath started climbing that ladder and by this time, he was pretty tired. His arms ached, but he didn't complain, kept pushing forward, determined to make the time. Seeing one last obstacle, he found the energy within himself to make the jump and landed on both feet. Leaning forward, he tried catching his breath.

"I definitely need to . . . improve." he said in between breaths, not bothering to see if anyone was there.

He turned to look at his sister, who was still a ways off. While he didn't cheer, he did clap for her.

Iliana didn't have a good start. She tried doing the tire walk, but almost tripped a few times. She focused and barely managed to clear it without falling flat on her face. Coming to the log jumps, she recalled how others do it and tried mimicking that, but she fell trying to get to the second log. That knocked the wind out of her. Embarrassed, she still got up and tried again, this time succeeding. Taking a deep breath, she prayed to her mom for strength and barely made it to the third log, but it was a struggle to haul herself up.

~Come on, Lia, you like climbing trees, you can do this.~ she mentally told herself, trying to be her own cheerleader.

She managed to make it the rest of the way, but her upper strength was already zapped. It be a miracle if she make the time requirement. The low crawl was a bit of a welcome relief, but it was still a struggle since her arms felt like noodles at this point. She hoped Heath was doing okay, Fiona too. She took this time to catch her breath a bit too. The low crawl was over sooner than she thought and the next one was one she dread the most, the rope climb. She kept trying to climb it, but each time fell after a few tries and eventually was forced to move on. She was very frustrated with herself for sure, but tried to keep her emotions at bay since she didn't want her powers to activate and automatically disqualify her. She deliberately took her time with the rope bridge, but almost lost her footing a few times. She would not quit though. Coming to the rope swing, she tried her best to hold on, but her strength gave out and she felt into the water. Embarrassed, she got back on land. She wanted to cry at this point but refused to. She'd been through worse, she'd get through this.

Coming up to the balance beams, she only slipped a few times, but this time got back up and kept doing it. She may be the weakest here physically, but she would keep going. Because, she could only improve from here, right? With the swimming section, she didn't do the traditional freestyle, but did the backstroke since that was always easier for her, but at some point she did turn over to finish doing freestyle since she didn't want to hit her head. She could see that she was almost down. Her lungs were burning for air by this point, but she kept moving. Climbing the ladder, she struggled and went slowly, but at least she did slip on her way up. However she almost tripped on her way down. Seeing the final jump, she put everything she had into it, and miraculously manage to clear it, but she collapsed onto her back when she did, completely worn out.

Heath was by her sides in seconds.

"You made it, sis," he said, worry very clear in his eyes and radiating off of him.

She merely gave him a thumbs up, she was so out of breath she couldn't talk.

"Do you want me to carry you back up?"

Not wanting to argue for once, Iliana nodded.

While Heath was still tired himself, he picked up his sister and carried her back to their seats. He put her on a seat, and she just rested her head and arms on her legs. Nelly would have said something, but for once decided to be quiet. Instead, she just padded Iliana on her back in comfort.

The new leader was quick to great Heath, but he was caught off guard by the quick laugh. He wondered what was funny but River's next statement answered that question quickly.

"Give it time. You’ll change your mind," he said.

Now that was an interesting opinion, and an honest one too. River might be someone who expected the worse to happen. Still Heath did mean what he said. For his own personal reasons, he was here to learn. His mother didn't have the time to educate him, so he was hoping to learn from someone who could. Heath would have replied back but he saw the man's expression change to a kinder one and he thanked him.

"You're welcome. Welcome to camp, River."

Giving him a nod, he turned and went back to his sister and Nelly. Iliana figured she better give her brother that ointment she made before she forgot. However before she could get a word out, Heath spoke up.

"Thanks for watching my stuff Lia. I'll move now," he said before he started getting his stuff.

Chewing on the inside of her cheek, Iliana thought a second, but spoke up quietly, "We're going to start soon, so you might as well stay. Plus, I have something for you to try."

Heath smiled and sat down. His sister was becoming unpredictable, but she was still a nice person at least. Patiently, he waited to see what Iliana had for him. Iliana pulled out one of the ointment samples she brought and handed it out to him. Heath recognized the packaging immediately for her knew his sister used it for her samples. He remembered when she told him she wanted to work more on healing remedies from her crops. He supported that decision 100%. Smiling, he thanked her as he took it.

"This one is for sore muscles. I already have one for myself. I know I am going to need it after this, hopefully it works."

Before Heath could comment, Nelly spoke up.

"Oh that's so cool! You know Iliana, if you need another guinea pig, I volunteer hehe."

The two siblings looked at Nelly, having forgotten she was there.

"Uhh, I don't have any extra at the moment. I'll ask you next time though, just be aware it may not work or well, you might have a reaction to it."

"Hey as long as nuts weren't used in the making, I'll be fine!"

She didn't look too great in Heath's opinion. He wondered just how much she had to drink last night. He had seen a few cousins have full blown hangovers and while Nelly wasn't fully in one, he could see the way her eyes strained a bit. Iliana could feel Nelly's energy was a bit 'off' too.

The trio watched as more campers started arriving. They saw Veronica show up and wave in their direction. They waved back and Iliana was slightly surprised to see her not join them, instead she joined two of the new campers. Iliana didn't recognize either of them, but Heath and Nelly recognized Sofia. Heath wondered if Sofia met Mason yet, while Nelly wondered who the other redhead was. She remember seeing him several times yesterday.

"Looks like Veronica is making more friends. Nice to see that." Heath commented.

"I wonder who those two are. I haven't met a lot of new campers yet. Honestly I didn't think we get this many."

"Well I don't know the guy, but I've met the girl. Her name is Sofia. I think you will like her, Lia."

Heath would have told Iliana she was Hades's daughter, but Nelly was there and while he liked Nelly, he didn't trust her to keep quiet either. Nelly chimed in too.

"I met Sofia last night too. She and Veronica joined me on the ice last night. I might have talked her ear off though, but she asked about camp."

Heath groaned and said, "When do you not talk someone's ear off, Nelly?"

Nelly laughed at that and agreed. It wasn't something she was ashamed of, but she did try giving the Cliff notes version of things, but it didn't always work out that way.

Iliana couldn't help but keep looking at Veronica, Sofia, and the other guy. Even though Iliana was too far to feel their energy, she could tell they were already close. The guy with them looked like he could take on this course easily. Realizing she was staring at his muscles, she looked away as her cheeks turned pink. Both Heath and Nelly caught it, but Nelly was the one to speak up.

"Nice view, huh, Iliana?"

Turning bright red, Iliana just nodded. She needed to stop staring at people. Nelly padded Iliana on the shoulder with a giggle. Heath just shook his head.

By the time Fiona greeted them, Iliana had thankfully recovered.

”How’re ya both doing? Also, bollocks to that though.”

Nelly laughed and replied,"I am doing okay considering how much I drank last night. Got a nice headache, but it shouldn't affect me too much. Still bollocks for sure. Thank the gods for all of the traveling I've done over the years. Only thing I worry about is anything involving balance hehe."

Iliana dreaded the whole thing but didn't want to admit it. Sure she climbed trees and knew how to swim, but added all of the other things together, yeah, she was not in for a good time.

"I am doing fine right now, Fi, thank you. I just want to get this obstacle course done and over with."

"I'll help you out Lia-" Heath started to say, but Iliana cut him off.

"No, I need to be able to do this on my own. Thank you though Heath."

Heath sighed and nodded, but he would help her if she needed it. After that, Fiona moved on and Nelly turned to see where she was heading. She saw her sit next to a figure laying down and Nelly soon figured out it was Blair, who totally looked out of it. Feeling sorry for Heath's other sister, Nelly turned back around.

Once again the three continued to wait as campers continued to come in. One thing that Heath noticed was who hadn't arrived yet. Most obvious one was Duke. Duke had been longer than him and Iliana, and he wondered what happened. His thoughts were diverted when River decided to get things started. Heath was pleasantly surprised on how well-informed River was of past events. At least Poseidon hadn't decided to throw his son off the deep end. Hearing what he had planned for them made a lot of sense too. Heath wondered how he would fare. He was sure he could do this obstacle course, but he already knew he wouldn't be as good as someone like Andy, Mason, and Trinity. River continued to earn points with Heath as River led by example by example by doing the obstacle course. He played close attention. Nelly for once was doing the same thing and memorized his exact movements. She may have perfect memory, but she would still have to physically execute it herself. While Nelly was average height for a female, she would have to compensate being shorter than all of the guys here. She would make up for that with her natural speed. She could always use her speed too if need be. However that idea was squashed when River finished and mentioned no one was allowed to use their powers. Oh well. Both Heath and Nelly looked at Iliana when they heard no one could help each other either. This didn't make Heath happy, so that wasn't one thing he dox points for. Iliana saw their looks and sighed.

"Knock it off you two, I'll live," she said quietly.

Soon the first group got started and they watched as Andy took an easy lead, but Sylas was doing his best to keep up with her. While watching them though, Evelyn showed up. After greeting them, Evelyn zeroed in on Nelly.

“Oh, how did your, uh, rectifying regrets go? What was that even all about?”

Both Heath and Iliana were just as confused by that, but Nelly giggled.

"Poorly, but it was my doing. See back when we did Seven Minutes in Heaven at the previous party, my bottle landed on Sylas. Sadly I don't have any of my parents' charms, so I was clueless on what the rules were and made a fool of myself with Sylas in there. Didn't you were supposed to make out in there. So to remedy that here, I basically asked Sylas if I could kiss him, that was all. He flat out rejected me. It's fine though. It's pretty clear I get on the guy's nerves too, but I am used to it."

She didn't want Evelyn to get the wrong idea about her and Sylas, especially since she remembered how Sylas kissed Evelyn last night.

"But yes, sorry for any confusion, Evelyn, and thanks for checking up on me. You just take care of yourself too okay?"

Watching the first group finishing when Sloane finished, the second group was called out. Only ones they recognized was Blair and Lochlan. No clue who the other ones were. Nelly decided to stretch during this time. Iliana felt bad for Blair and even Heath sighed watching how poorly his other sister was doing. Nelly saw how Blair did too. She had returned to her seat before she finally managed to finish.

Nelly was relieved to hear her named be called in the third group.

"Oh wow, finally!" she said as she jumped up and went to the start of the obstacle course.

She was obviously revved but still wasn't feeling her best. Under normal conditions, she knew she be one of the first ones, but even she was a little unsure.

"Good luck guys!" she said cheerfully to Mason, Sofia, and two other female campers.

The redhead she recalled seeing last night, but the brunette she didn't recognize at all. Even though this wasn't exactly a race, Nelly couldn't help but feel like it was one. She had been itching to get involved in stuff and now it was her chance since she never got to have a duel when Nick was still in charge. Soon it was time to get started and Nelly took off. The tires were pretty easy as she perfectly recalled how River did it. Next was log jumps. Under normal conditions, this would be a piece of cake, but Nelly felt slightly off because her image blurred a little bit and she almost slipped when going from the 2nd log to the 3rd. However she managed to stay on, but that enable Mason to get ahead of her. Feeling her competitive nature awaken, she speeded up slightly and finished as the same time as him before going to the next part. The low crawl was something she was very much used to doing since she did things like this when spelunking in caves. She paced herself though to make sure to not overdo it. The rope climb was one she knew she wasn't going to enjoy. She preferred basic pull ups or rock climbing to this. She wasn't surprised when Mason overtook her here either. She couldn't help but get slightly distracted by his biceps either, but she for sure didn't want him overtaking her for long. She got to the top and came down but slightly burned her hand though and cursed. If the rope climb was bad, then the rob bridge was worse, but it wasn't the worse thing. She did her best to maintain her balance, but her foot got caught in a hole and she almost fell through if not for her own upper body strength. She picked up her pace again though and almost caught up to Mason as they approached the rope swing. Leaping quickly, Nelly laughed, feeling like Tarzan, and landed a nice distance from the water before jogging to the one thing she truly dreaded, the balancing beam. Taking a deep breath, she went about it as quickly as she could, but her vision swam again and unfortunately this time, not only did she slip but she fell off landing on her back.

"Ow!"

Seeing Mason and even Sofia and the brunette getting ahead and entering the pool, Nelly felt a fire in her belly there. Getting up, she this time focused and got past the balance beam. Sprinting towards the pool, she dived right in and quickly passed up the bruntte and Sofia and raced for Mason. He was still ahead of her when they got to the log ladder. Almost there. Nelly by this point was starting to get tired, but she wasn't bound to give up. She was pretty much neck and neck with Mason going up the ladder, but she was quicker going down. Seeing the last obstacle in her sights, Nelly had one last kick in her as she sprinted one last time and leapt over the pool of water. Landing on her feet, she saw she was first across with Mason right behind her. It was then she noticed she wad fully dry too. However, she was for once too tired think about it. Instead she turned to cheer on the others in her group as they crossed the finish line. Once she saw her fellow red-head come over the ladder, she cheered more.

"Come on, you can do it!" she clapped.

After she finished, Nelly clapped for her one more time before returning to her seat. Iliana was first to greet her.

"Are you okay, Nelly? That fall looked bad."

"My head is worse now. I'll just get more aspirin from my cabin. But hey I beat Mason, how about that huh?"

"You know this isn't a full race right?" Heath reminded her.

"Hey! Let me have this right? I know it's not, but I couldn't help myself. I don't think I did as well several of the others who went before me though."

Heath shrugged and waited patiently for his and his sister's turn.

Heath managed to have a good's night sleep. Due to going to bed around midnight, he woke up closer to 6 am this time. Normally he would have gone for a morning run first, but since he knew training was happening today, he decided get breakfast first. Wanting to be prepared just in case, he put on one of his workout outfits, along with a pair of great sweatpants. He made a quick breakfast of oatmeal with some sausage. It was around 6:30 am when he stepped outside for the first time and felt that cold winter air. No surprise there. He slipped back into his cabin because he figured he better get started on those shortbread cookies he promised Sofia. He wouldn't make as much this time, just one batch.

Taking his time, it didn't take him as long to get one batch done. It only took him close to 40 minutes to make it. Prep work always took the longest since cookies cooked for a short time. Cleaning up after putting the cookies in another tuber ware he cleaned up and that's when he heard the announcement. Listening in, he didn't recognize the voice at all, but hearing the man introduce himself as River, Heath couldn't help but wonder if he was one of Poseidon's kids. No surprise there. It was times like this Heath wished he could ask the Gods a question. If they wanted a new leader, why wait so long to give them a new one if they were unhappy with Andy's performance. He knew better than to speculate on the reason. Regardless, it looked like things were definitely going to get back to normal and Heath was glad about there. He hoped River was well versed in training. Heath knew he needed help in that area. And Iliana definitely needed to learn how to control her abilities. Wondering how this River would handle things differently than Nicholas, Heath finished cleaning. Seeing he had about an hour to kill, he decided to read for once. His cabin had a mini library in it, most of the books he gotten over the years from his father, but he also managed to get stuff from his mother. She never gave him any Greek Mythology stuff, simply stating half of it wasn't real to begin with. Seeing how she was portrayed as a "Virgin Goddess", yeah that was definitely false. Still he gotten that kind of material for amusement purposes. Since he was in the mood, he got out the Odyssey and picked up where he left off recently. He made sure to set himself a timer so he wouldn't be late for training.

Ten minutes until 8:30, his timer went off. Turning it off, he put his book away before putting on winter wear before heading out. When he got there with a few minutes to spare, he wasn't surprised to see his sister there, but he WAS surprised to see Nelly there on time. He looked and saw Andy lying down, clearing having worked on what was an obstacle course. What he also noticed was how warm in was. Taking off his winter wear, he placed it next to his sister's extra clothing. He saw Iliana's look and quickly responded.

"It's not going to hurt you if I leave it here, Iliana. Can you watch it for a minute, please?"

She sighed and nodded. Smiling at her, Heath headed over to whom he assumed was River.

"Morning, I just wanted to quickly introduce myself. My name is Heath. I look forward to learning from you." he said holding out a hand.

Thankfully Iliana didn't have any nightmares, but she was still troubled about what she said to Heath last night. She said the truth, but it still hurt to see him hurt. Hopefully he was feeling better this morning. Looking at her clock, she saw that it was 5 am. Not wanting to go back to sleep, got changed into casual clothing before putting on thicker clothing. Pocking her head outside, she saw it wasn't snowing, but it was still really cold. Grabbing extra stuff for her hands and head, she grabbed a flashlight to go to the Main Hall for she was hungry. Getting breakfast there, she ate in silence. Everyone else was probably still asleep. The quiet was a bit unsettling, but she didn't mind it too much. It did occur to her that today was when training started back up. She wouldn't worry about it though. Finishing her breakfast, she cleaned up her spot before heading back to her cabin. She quickly changed again for her greenhouse stuff and went into it around 6 am. She got so absorbed into her work that was surprised when an announcement came and she let out a small scream.

Listening to the voice she recognized it instantly. So River really was the new leader. It didn't surprise her, but she wondered why he didn't let her know last night. Maybe he didn't want to be in that role just yet. For all Iliana knew, this could have been a role Poseidon forced him into and that might explain the turbulent emotions she felt from him last night. She might ask him at some point, but not now when the barely knew each other. For now she would finish up and get ready for training.

It took her another ten minutes to finish things. Deciding to bring some new ointment she made, she decided to bring only enough for herself and Heath. When she started creating healing products, he volunteered to be a 'test dummy', so she took him up on that besides testing it on herself. She wanted to make sure it was safe for others before making more. This one was for sore muscles. Grabbing the samples, she exited the greenhouse and went into her cabin to get change again. She made a note to herself to wash her clothes today after taking a shower later. Putting on a simple workout gear, she also put on sweats over her attire before getting a coat and other winter wear. She looked at the clock and saw it was 8 am. Looks like she was getting there early. She grabbed her pendent first and remembered that she could change the band's shape with a thought. She didn't want to risk losing it in training. Putting her wrist through the band, she focused before it shrank until the pendant's band looked like a wrist band with the stone still on her wrist.

Walking outside, she walked towards the arena and looking inside the arena, she saw Andy conjuring stuff up and it looked like River was giving her instructions. Not wanting to interrupt, she figured she would walk around the arena until things were over. As she walked couldn't help but glancing in at times to see the progress. She hoped none of them saw her, that would be embarrassing. It didn't take too much longer for things to be ready. Once she saw Andy lay down, she went in and now realized warm it was. Smiling and nodding to River, she took off her extra clothing before folding it and putting it next to her, she sat down on the bleachers. The last time she was here, they had duels. Obviously, that wasn't happening this time. Suddenly she heard Nelly's loud voice as she entered the arena. Her eyes widen a bit in surprise. Nelly waved at River before making a beeline for her.

The two exchanged in small talk as she took off her extra clothing too, which wasn't much. Soon Heath arrived and decided to leave his stuff next to hers. Why didn't he sit somewhere else? Heath soon made a valid point though and she sighed. Why was she being a sourpuss? Still she wished he find someone else to hang out with. He needed friends too. She saw him introduce himself to River. He was a nice guy, he deserved friends.

She hoped others would show up soon.

Nelly was dreaming. None of her dreams were ever the same and they were always complex. She learned how to recognize dreams too, at times at least. This time she was dreaming entirely in sepia colors like she walked into an old picture. She was at art salon looking at different pieces of art before deciding to take a piece of chair off and eat it, and it tasted like chocolate. She was walking when a loud signal came out. She shouted.

"NOOOO!!" she cried as the announcement came out.

Groaning, she begrudgingly listened to the new leader introduce himself before announcing training would be starting in an hour.

"Lovely, couldn't you have waited a couple of hours . . . " she complained to the speaker, knowing this River couldn't hear her.

Getting up, she got dressed into some workout gear quickly before putting her hair in a ponytail. Grabbing just a winter coat and ear muffs, she dashed out the door to get something to eat. She decided to have a light breakfast since she had a bit of a hangover from last night and didn't want to overdo it either with training happening soon. Getting a jelly, she ate at a steady pace while drinking some orange juice. Finishing her breakfast, she saw she still had a bit of time before training, but at the same time she didn't know what to fill her time while waiting. Maybe she could just see if anyone was there? Decision made, she finished breakfast, promised she get herself more later, and soon left.

She had no worries about training. She was very active already. She was more concerned about others. She doubt Fiona would have issues. The girl was in better condition than her. Getting to the arena, she saw it was set up and whistled in appreciation. Then she saw the new leader. Well she assumed he was new. She also saw someone laying down and upon closer inspection, she saw it was Andy. Probably set up the area. Then there was Iliana, by herself for a change. Happy to have someone to converse with, Nelly shouted.

"Morning! Happy New Year!"

Waving to the new leader really quick, she made her way to Iliana before taking off her extra winter wear. She was glad they weren't going to train in the cold.

"How are you Iliana? Did you have fun at the party last night?"

"I am fine, Nelly. Yes I had fun for the most part. How about you?"

Sitting down, Nelly nodded.

"Sure did, but I mostly hanged out with Fiona. I am glad I didn't drink too much, well for someone who can handle alcohol pretty well. I do have a headache, but I'll live. Looks like we're doing an obstacle course. This should be fun."

Iliana had nodded and tried to add to the conversation, but Nelly could tell she was struggling to keep up with her, even though Nelly made an effort to not overwhelm her. It wasn't long before Heath showed up and Nelly tell something was off about the siblings. When Heath left, Nelly asked her.

"Something happened before you and Heath?"

Iliana sighed and replied, "Just wanting to do things more on my own."

Nelly wondered if there was more to it but decided to drop it.

#808000 ~ Outfit ~ Party

As Heath continued to speak to Veronica and Sofia, he did notice how the crowd begin to thin out. He hoped everyone got a good night sleep. He was also relieved that this party went well. Sure there had been that incident with Blair, but no one was hurt, not to his knowledge at least. His thoughts were brought back when Sofia spoke up.

"Heath, if there are still some of those cookies left. Can you reserve some for me for tomorrow? They sound like a good treat tomorrow after training."

Sofia's enthusiasm caused Heath to grin.

"Sure. Hopefully they won't be stale. I can always make another batch for you when I have the time. But first let's see if there's any left."

Turning his head towards the food bar, he caught site of Iliana again, this time with Trinity at the bar. The bar tender, who was probably another newcomer, gave her a drink. He hoped it wasn't anything strong, but he knew his sister didn't like things strong. However something else altogether took his attention. It was a firework. Soon an array of them lit up the night sky.

"Well, Happy New Years, ladies."

Leave it to Andy to think of adding fireworks. His mind drifted back to where he was a year ago. Iliana had just moved in with him and Ethan right after the Christmas holidays. She had been very cold towards Ethan at first for she was still recovering from her abduction. Now that he knew the whole truth, he really couldn't blame her. They really didn't do much for that Holiday season because his whole family wanted to keep things simple for Iliana's sake. He knew she had become a shut in when she was back at their father's place and his aunts lived there temporarily to take care of her because she had refused to see anyone except him and his aunts. Finally both Athena and Demeter visited her and basically 'snapped her out of it', at least by his aunts' word. So she at least started taking care of herself again, despite lacking a voice. It was also decided she would move in with him since she didn't want to be around humans anymore, not even his aunts. She felt some regret in feeling this way, but she couldn't deny her feelings either. He remembered that his wish for the New Year was for her to recover her voice. Looks like his wish came true.

So what was his wish this year? He honestly didn't know. Normally he was quick to think of something, but not this time. Instead of fretting about it, he just hoped this upcoming year was a good one.

Looking at the Sofia and Veronica he said, "I am going to get my tuber ware now and go fetch my sister. Try not to stay up too late. Night."

Nodding to them, he started heading for the food bar but caught sight of Sylas kissing Evelyn. Now that was something he wasn't expecting. Come to think of it, did he ever see the two of them together? He was tired, so his brain wasn't at its best. Deciding to not worry about it, he found his tuber ware and unfortunately for Sofia, they were all gone. Sighing, he made a mental note to make more. Maybe he could make it tomorrow morning instead of writing. Decision made, he went to go look for his sister at the bar, only to see she wasn't there. Now where did she go?

Trinity was someone Iliana admired a great deal, but knew she could never be like her. One thing was for sure, she didn't talk much and Iliana wasn't bound to try and get more details. So when she mentioned how her night had gone well, Iliana had a feeling there was more to it, but she merely nodded. She wasn't expecting the same question tough.

"Oh, it's been good. Heath gave me a break too. Probably been keeping an eye on me at least. I got to enjoy the skating rink Andy created. I do want to try the slide if I am able."

Soon the bar tender approached with a drink for calling it a Mudslide. Iliana smiled brightly at him.

"Thank you so much!"

Not wanting to wait, she gave it a sip. She recognized Irish cream immediately with the taste of coffee, which helped balance out the alcohol, which she wasn't able to pinpoint. It was really good though. She was so invested in her drink though that Trinity's next question took her by complete surprised.

"So Iliana, are you wanting to kiss anyone?"

Turning red on the spot, more flowers popped up beneath her as she spurted out her drink, luckily not getting anyone.

"TRINITY!" she shouted, thoroughly embarrassed.

It took her a minute to calm down, but her blush still remained. Finally she spoke up again.

"Sorry, I wasn't expecting that kind of question. No, there's no one. Plus I doubt any guy would be interested in me anyway. I am not as attractive as someone like you, Andy, and others."

She briefly glanced at Blair, who was talking with the bar tender. She could feel the undercurrents of emotions there. It was probably best to leave. Suddenly the night lit up with fireworks and Iliana welcomed the distraction. The sight took her breath away. She was so enthralled she didn't see Trinity's departure. Deciding to leave herself, she took one more sip of her drink, almost finishing it. She would have thanked the guy who made it but he was still talking with Blair. She would thank him the next time she saw him. Wanting to try that slide before it was too late, she made a mad dash for it. Climbing up it, she took in the view from the slide. It was amazing. Taking a sled, she got on it before going down it. Laughing, she came to the bottom to see her brother.

Heath had been looking for his sister and was close to the arena when he glanced up and saw her at the top of the slide. Seeing her laugh as she reached the bottom caused him to smile too.

"Well that looked like fun. Shall I return the sled for you?" he asked as she stood up.

Her full smile had dropped by then too and she'd gone back to being cordial.

"Na, plus I am sure since Andy conjured all of this, it might disappear soon too."

"True, well I am glad you had a good time tonight Iliana. I couldn't help but keep an eye on you though."

"I am surprised you showed some restraint actually. I am tired, so I'll be going to bed now. You can escort me back if you wish."

Sighing, Heath followed after her and finally decided to ask something that had been on his mind.

"Lia, why are you being so distant from me recently?"

Those words caused Iliana to stop. Looking at her brother, she tried to find the right words, but all she could do was be completely honest.

"Because I want to do more things on my own, and you're hovering. We won't always be together, Heath, and while I do appreciate all you've done, I can't find myself if you're always trying to hold my hand. Good night Heath."

Feeling her words hurt him, Iliana quickly ran to her cabin. She hated hurting him, but he needed to know. Finally in the sanctuary in her cabin, she got ready for bed, had a good cry, and fell asleep instantly.

Heath had indeed been hurt by Iliana's words but didn't show it. He stood in silence as he watched his sister's fleeting form. Why did he feel hurt? She had been truthful and that was good. So why was he upset? Was this what it was meant by the phrase, 'the truth hurts'? Trying to figure out what to do now, he headed for his cabin before also cleaning up before going to bed.

Hearing Sylas chuckled was a good thing in Nelly's opinion, but then the fireworks went off. Well shoot, she didn't want to ruin any plans he had for midnight. Oh well. She couldn't help but shiver at Sylas's words when he called her little Nelly. She waited with baited breath as he came closer. Was this how her mom felt when she hooked up with her dad? She kept her eyes open the entire time. However when he was just a breath away from her lips, he spoke.

"You missed out on one hell of a kiss."

With that, he left her completely and for once in her life, she had no words. Standing there for a minute, her mind scrambled on what happened. Why did she miss out? Was it something she said or how she said it? It was a puzzle she was determined to solve. Maybe the alcohol did get to her? Shrugging, she looked up at the Fireworks as she started heading back to the bar, with her drink in hand. Looking towards the bar, she saw something that made her laugh. Evelyn and Sylas kissing. And it looked like Sylas was the more aggressive one. Maybe he didn't want to kiss her because he wanted to kiss Eveyln for midnight. That made sense to her. She watched them until Evelyn drew away from him, clearly embarrassed about what just happened. Sylas looked confused about his own actions too. Soon he left, heading in the direction of his cabin. Evelyn left too, but not in the direction of her cabin. In fact, she was going in the exact opposite direction, maybe towards Sylas's?

"Well I hope they have a good new year's hehe." she giggled before rejoining Fiona.

Finishing her drink, she stayed until she could feel her energy drop. Saying good night to Fiona and anyone else, she started heading for her cabin, grateful it was nearby. Once inside her cabin, she reflected on that night. A lot definitely happened from interacting with Veronica and Sofia to hanging out with Fiona. In retrospect, she really didn't talk to a lot of people. That was something she normally did at parties. Still she had fun and was more than ready for bed. Hopefully this New Year would bring even more surprises. Nelly couldn't wait.

Iliana thought of all that happened today as she continued to skate. It felt interesting to see things pick up again, but a part of her was worried about with so many people around, would she be able to control her feelings. She never told anyone this, but not having as many campers around had helped in that aspect. She liked the quiet as they all healed and rebuild the camp. But changes had to happen. Her mother made sure of that with her own responsibilities when it came to the weather. Iliana wanted to do her proud.

Thinking of the new campers made her think of the ones she met. Marlen had been an interesting fellow. She was never able to figure out what gender they were, but she thought it be rude to ask. So she would just treat them like she did with anyone else, politely. She wondered if they would become friends. At the very least she wanted them to get along since she hoped they could help her in the healing department. She then thought of River. He was a presence. His emotions were like a force of nature, but he kept a lid on them, which was admiral. She wasn't surprised to learn he was Poseidon's son. She wouldn't be surprised if he was their new leader too since she remembered it was Poseidon who sent the last leader. Or maybe Zeus decided to send one of his offspring again. She couldn't think of any other god who would want their kid to 'take charge'. Maybe Hades or even Athena. She would find out soon enough.

She was so lost in thought, she didn't even see she wasn't alone on the ice anymore. She a dark haired female camper get on the ice. She smiled and waved. She would have join her, but then she saw Blair. The memory of Blair with that man from earlier entered her mind and her face turned red instantly. Her pendant lit up and she was grateful for that. She better get off the ice because something happened though. Carefully she got to the entrance, wave at the two and got off. Sitting down carefully, she took the skates out before getting her own shoes on. Deciding to finally brave the bar, she headed in that direction before seeing Trinity. She then remembered that Duke mentioned meeting another one of Ares' sons. She wondered if she should tell Trinity. Well if the subject came up, she would mention it, but she wanted to see how she was regardless. As she got closer, she saw her interacting with someone who was making drinks at the bar. Making sure she was in Trinity's line of sight, she approached.

"Evening Trinity. I decided to get one more drink before midnight. Do you have any recommendations? I just can't handle anything too strong, nor do I want to risk it. In the past it was either a Bailey's Cream or Schnapps. I do like something sweet though. So um, how's your evening been?"

Looking at the bartender, Iliana smiles shyly and says, "Hi, I am Iliana. Welcome to camp. I hope you're enjoying yourself."

It wasn't long before Blair appeared again and directly zeroed in on the bartender. Iliana had seen drunk people before and Blair was well . . blasted for sure, if her mannerisms were any indication. Not wanting to deal with that, Iliana stuck next to Trinity and allowed Blair to converse with the bartender.

Nelly giggled about Morne's comment of her being in denial. He was free to think of her however he thought, but she wasn't going to change for anyone here. But since he appeared to be the like to stir up trouble, she would probably keep an eye on him. Oh not to stop him, but to be there to watch what happened for it was entertaining to watch people mess up if they caused issues because karma was a b--ch.

Her eyes lit up at the suggestions of shots. She already had one with Fiona but another couldn't hurt.

"Hell yeah! We'll see what we can find! Actually I am in the mood for rum right now. Before you joined us, I was talking to Fiona about my favorite dessert being Rum cake. So now I got that on my mind. Let's see if this bar has the specific one I am thinking of. And we'll see if we can find a few people for you to meet."

She quickly cleaned up her plate and gather her empty glasses and tried tidying up her area as best as possible. Standing up, she first led them to a trash to get rid of her unwanted stuff. Then she led them to the bar. Looking to see who was there, she first saw Trinity, Iliana, another new camper, and Blair. She didn't think she wanted to expose Iliana or Trinity to Morne yet. Then she saw Heath and Veronica with 2 other new campers. Yeah, no that wouldn't be good either. She might have temped if Veronica wasn't there, but the girl was similar Iliana, too nice for her own good. Not to mention it looked like they were about to leave the bar. Glancing over, she saw Lochlan and her other fellow redhead, Evelyn. That'll work. She hoped Fiona was okay with her decision, joining her brother.

With a smile on her face, she greeted the two, "Hi, Evelyn, hi Lochlan. Do you mind if we join you? We were hoping to get one more drink in us before midnight hits. Morne here is new, he literally just showed up tonight and he wanted to meet new people. Anyway, let me see if this bar has what I am thinking of."

Without thought, she suddenly hauled herself over the bar and slide to the other side of it. Crouching down, she looked and as if by magic she found what she was looking for. Stroh 80, one of the hardest drinks she ever had. Well, she only had one sip and that was it. Smiling triumphantly, she shot up with the bottle in her hand.

"Booyah! Hey Morne, ever had this?! I am going to grab several glasses if anyone wants to try this. Fair warning though to the rest of you, this is pretty hard. The number of the hardness is in the title, 80% ABV. Normally I wouldn't mind trying to get drunk, but with the possibility of training tomorrow, I don't want to risk it. I am loose enough already. This is a spiced rum by the way."

She grabbed several glasses as she said and poured enough for a simple gulp for her and pour the same amount for Morne. She figured if he was Dionysus's son, he had no limit. She hoped at least. She pushed the glass to Morne before taking a sip from her own glass. She felt the instant zing.

"Mmmm, that hits the spot. You know, I really want to go into this New Year with no regrets. There is one I do have though. But I do have time to rectify it. If y'all would excuse me, I'll see if I can get back before midnight."

Her Cajian accent wasn't much, but it did slip in whenever she was close to her limit. So she knew she only needed to just take one last sip, but that was for midnight. Still she was feeling brave and crazy enough to do what she felt like she had to do. Hopefully the person she was thinking of wouldn't kill her for it. She doubt he do that though. She was thinking about that 7 minutes in Heaven incident again and how much she messed things up. Let's see if Sylas was open to what she had in mind. Taking her glass, she left the bar to look for him. Eyes peeling, she knew what he was wearing at least. Soon, she caught sight of him outside the crowd. It helped that his pants was a shade guys normally didn't wear, at least in her experience. Gathering her courage, she walked straight towards him. Before he could do anything, Nelly quickly spoke up.

"I know you're not a huge fan of me, but I wanted to remedy the mistake I made earlier this year at the last party. I am sure you already have someone in mind for who you want to be with at midnight, so maybe we can make this quick. I just wanted go in the New Years regret free, and I hate that I didn't pick up the lures you were casting. I just didn't understand the rules of 7 minutes in Heaven. So would it be okay to ask you to kiss me real quick or it can be vice versa? And if so, we can do it away from the crowd if you want." she said as words tumbled out of her.

She was ready for anything. This probably a big mistake for all she knew, but she wouldn't regret trying kiss Sylas at least.

LOL I am just glad y'all will make the midnight deadline. I can't wait to read it!

#808000 ~ Outfit ~ Bar

Anatoliy was the first to greet him, saying he was doing better, and then asked how he was. Heath was glad he was doing better. It helped he was in good company too. Sofia seemed like a decent person and Veronica had a sweet personality similar to his sister's. He would have answered him, but Veronica was next to address him.

”Hello Heath, oh, you’ve all met already?"

He caught the tone shift and wonder what was up, but Heath wasn't bound to ask her that in front of two newcomers.

"I met Sofia this morning and I met Anatoliy earlier at the party."

He didn't know how long the three interacted so he didn't bring up that Anatoliy wanted to leave. His mind wandered back to the other person he met at the same time, Chariselle. He had his suspicions that she too was one of Aphrodite's lot, and already decided to not bring her up to Veronica.

Sofia soon chimed in greeting him and Heath wondered if she met her brother yet. It wasn't any of his business so he wouldn't ask. He didn't see Mason anywhere in his field of vision at the moment. He did automatically checked to see if Iliana was around and manage to catch her on the ice rink and it looked like Anissa and Blair were about to get on the ice rink too. Heath didn't think neither Blair nor Iliana had any interaction at this point. A part of him hoped that both of his sisters could be cordial at least.

Veronica soon explained what they were up too and Heath nodded before answering them.

"To answer all of your questions, I am doing fine. I just ate myself and got me something to drink that isn't alcohol. I only had 2 beers. That's just how many I always had at parties like this. My aunts loved having family parties. While I am still no party person, I've gotten used to them. Still, I hope it's okay if I still around, at least until midnight. By then I plan on looking for my sister, Iliana. She wanted to interact with people on her own this time."

He didn't think any guy would try to take advantage of her at midnight, but he still worried about that, if he was honest with himself.

"I need to pick up my tuber ware anyway. I made shortbread cookies for the party. I wonder if others have been eating them. I know Iliana loves them so she would have snagged some already."

He would be glad when the party was over. He wanted to get plenty of sleep for training tomorrow. He would set his alarm like normal regardless. He wondered when training would start. A part of him wished the new leader would delay training for one more day considering that was bound to be people who get wasted and in his experience with drunk people, it could take them awhile to recover from their hangovers. Oh well, it was what it was.
