Max wanders back to the house and busies herself with a pair of needle-nose pliers and some wire.

Adam looks up from where he had been flipping through another notebook. He grins. "Oh? What about it?"

He let her go with a small amount of surprise. "What is it?"

Max sits up quickly, then groans and grabs her head. "Ugh. Blood rush." She slowly stands and stretches.

Adam refuses to let her wiggle free, and holds even more tightly. The moment she stills, he presses a kiss into her shoulder. "I'm sorry if I insulted you," he mutters into her skin, then kisses again.

Max grins proudly. "No problem. Mind letting me out of the dreamscape, Sandman?" she asks, gesturing to their surroundings.

Adam wraps his arms around her waist and lays his head on her shoulder. "Come on, Arty," he says, sticking his bottom lip out. "You're not mad at me, are you?" he pouts.

Max waves a hand. "Yeah, yeah, but lemme go ham on this for a hot second," she throws over her shoulder. For what seems like a solid hour, she is bent over the spear-dart, carving intently. "There!" she crows triumphantly, dunking the weapon in water once more. "That ought to do it!" she says, passing it to Toby. The weapon is lightly decorated, with elements of a river winding down the entire length. At the top, wide cottonwood leaves are scattered around the rim. Poppies wind around the base, and she points out one. "Move that to the side," she places a thumb on it, "and the spear will extend." She demonstrates once then hands it to him.

Adam laughs."Aww! Don't pout, gotita!" he says, following her. "Or rather, do. You look quite cute."

Adam laughs. "If you weren't so dang cute when you got annoyed, I wouldn't. Unfortunately, you're adorable when you get peeved, so I'll just have to keep doing it." He sighs dramatically, still hovering right in front of her. "Ah, the burden I must carry is one of patience and will. The patience to keep from kissing you, and the will to annoy you."

Adam tweaks her cheek. "Cute," he declares, pressing a kiss to where he tweaked. "You're all red."
