AppearanceMadeleine has long, flowing white hair and brown eyes. Depending on the time of day, she’s either wearing something light and easy to wear like in the picture, or some kindof protective overalls for her extra-curricular work. Madeleine doesn’t pay a lot of attention to her personal appearance, and will never be found wearing any make-up or other cosmetics. She does maintain good personal hygiene, however, mostly as a result of needing to wash off a lot from her work.

PersonalityMany people consider Madeleine to be a weirdo, and it’s hardly unfair to say that, given her obsession with making things that explode or set things on fire or just generally deadly mechanisms. When she’s not busy with something else, Madeleine will be found trying to make some new crazy gizmo, and whatever she’s making won’t be pleasant for anyone else. Creating anything with a mundane function tends to bore her, and she will either refuse to make anything of the sort or do so begrudgingly. Aside from her strange obsession, Madeleine is not an unfriendly person, and will gladly talk with anyone, as long as they can put up with her weird quirks. She will often try and get things done while listening to others, though she will swear she is giving them her full attention. Madeleine is an avid multitasker, and can usually effectively divide herself between multiple tasks with a minimal loss in efficiency.
Contrary to popular belief, Madeleine does not enjoy hurting others. Hurting others is mostly a consequence of the things she creates rather than a satisfying conclusion. For her, satisfaction comes in making something that has an inspiring punch to it. It is not enough to merely make a sword; it needs to be an 8 bladed spinning death machine that can tear through walls with reckless abandon. In fact, if she can make something with a purely civilian purpose that still has that kindof pizazz, then she really will be interested in making it.

BackstoryThe Leblanc family has a rich lineage as engineers, tinkerers, and all-round inventors. Madeleine’s father, Ethan, is one of many carrying the Leblanc name that’s keenly invested in the business of making machines and other gadgets and gizmos. One unique fact about the Leblanc family is that they have always been averse to creating weapons, with only a handful of “black sheep” having ever gotten into that industry. Ethan kept the tradition of being involved purely in civilian inventing alive, and he wanted nothing more than to pass that tradition on to his daughter Madeleine.
He would soon learn his daughter would end up one of his family’s notorious “black sheep”. Early on, he tried to involve his daughter in his work by showing her what he was doing step by step. One day, he accidentally caused a small-scale explosion in one of his devices. The young Madeleine laughed heartily at the spectacle, but Ethan thought nothing of it at the time. He just showed her carefully what he had done wrong and how to fix it. However, the next time he worked on that particular gadget, he found it went off in the same way it did last time. Once again he fixed it, only for it to explode the next time in the same way. Realising something was going wrong, he installed a camera in his workshop, and was shocked to discover Madeleine had been sneaking in there just to rig his device to go off the same way every time. He gave her a stern talking to, but otherwise expected it to be a once off prank.
Her eccentric behaviour would rear its head again when he encouraged her at an older age to work on some projects of her own. At first she didn’t seem interested, which was disheartening on its own. However, he was pleased when one day she suddenly seemed excited to show him something she had just completed. His happiness soon turned to abject horror as it turned out she had rigged a small, remote-controlled wheeled platform with a crude, aerosol-based flamethrower, with which she proceeded to start a fire with. Once again he lectured her on how bad this was, but the lesson did not stick. Madeleine continued to make weapons and other dangerous things, almost to deliberately spite her father. As she got older and her skills refined, Ethan realised her needed to do something to “fix” his daughter. Deciding that it might be an excess of aggression that drove her to make such terrible things, he decided to enrol her in the Death Weapon Meister Academy. He rationalised that if she had to go and hurt something or someone, it may as well be for a good cause. As for Madeleine herself, she didn’t mind being sent away at all. She was sure that there would be plenty of opportunities to make use of her expanding arsenal as a Meister.

She not only possesses a wealth of knowledge on related subjects, but considers it her one true passion. Or at least, she considers it her one true passion to use such knowledge to make things blow up.

Resourceful: As something of an inventor and a technician, Madeleine has been privy to the art of getting something done with less. Making things can be quite expensive if done the proper way, so Madeleine has learned ways to cut corners by using alternative materials and jury rigging everything so it works. It may not always be as good as something done the right way, but at the very least she can make it look like it works. Generally, she is just the kindof person that likes to find simpler ways of doing things.

Situationally Perceptive: While Madeleine doesn’t always pay absolute attention to everything, when something does have her attention, she tends to pour over it and soak in every detail. The art of understanding a machine for one involves getting familiar with all the tiny parts that make it work, so she likes to apply that idea to anything she gets firmly involved with. Knowing what makes something tick is crucial, and so she will try her hardest to see what makes the object of her interest tick.
