Selice and Jamie

Selice let relief flood her as the Royal City came into sight. She had been riding her horse, Cerus, for a fairly long time and her body was not appreciating the bouncing of the trotting pace they were going. She turned her head to the caravan behind her. "We're just about there, sir," She called to the lord who was relaxing in his carriage. The Captain of the Royal Guard had been visiting the lord to address the frequent spats along the border between Galinas and Orewyn. However, since he was on his way to attend the festival of destinies, he had requested that Selice accompany him on the ride to the castle. She had accepted, but hadn't realized that they would be riding at such an agonizingly slow pace. Thankfully it didn't take long to reach the city.

The royal stables were bustling with activity, people unloading the carriages and tending to the horses as well. Selice took a moment to gaze over the organized chaos on top of her horse. She enjoyed the view from being tall and wanted to wait for a bit of clam before she left her horse in someone else's care. Dust flew around from the stomping of feet and a strong, unpleasant odor filled the air. As much as she loved her horse, the warrior wouldn't want to spend her time in this place. But, she supposed, there were some people willing to make the sacrifice. Selice could tell her horse didn't like the close proximity of the chaos, and did her best to sooth his nerves with gentle strokes. Smoothly, she slung her leg across Cerus's back and hopped off. She kept a calloused hand along his flank, waving for the nearest stable boy to come over.

Jaime was tening to one of the many stalls in the Royal Stables when he felt a new wave of fear roll over him like a wave. He'd been feeling the emotions of the horses in the stables all day, but this feeling was completely new. Stepping out of the stall, he latched the door and began looking for the source of the fear. It was then that he saw a woman, who oddly enough appeared to be a solider. She was waving for assistance while trying to calm the horse beside her down.

"Good day ma'am," Jamie said with a bow, making red hair sweep across his eyes. "May I be of any assistance to you?"

Selice gave Jaime a once over and, deeming him to be acceptable for the job, turned to grab the reins on Cerus. She lead the chocolate colored horse over to him and handed him the rope of leather. "I need you to take care of Cerus. He has a strict diet and needs a lot of exercise, he must be in top condition at all times." She began to list off all the instructions she had for taking care of the horse. It seemed a little excessive, but it worked. "With the festival of destinies coming up, I'll be busy and unable to check up on him. So I need someone to take up the reins, so to speak. If there is even one thing amiss, I'll know." The brunette warned. Her attentive posture seemed intimidating, but it was only a scare tactic. She needed this done right. "If need be, I can send a more thorough list to the stables at a later time. But for now, do you know what needs to be done?" Her dark brown eyes trained themselves on the dirty stable boy, and she quirked a brow up almost challenging him to say no.

"Yes, ma'am. He will be taken very good care of." Jamie took the reins from her hands and rasied one of his own up to the neck of the horse. The moment he touched him something seemed to change in Cerus. He instantly calmed down from his scared state of mind and leaned into his touch ever so slightly. Jamie smiled for a moment, happy to bring the horse peace with all the chaos going on around them. Though, being here in the presence of horses made him miss his own horse. Mystic was residing in the way back of the stables until Jamie was done for the day.

"You still may send a detailed list, if that would please you, ma'am,' he said, looking over towards Selice once more. There was confidence in his eyes as he looked at her. He could tell she wasn't one for weak minded people or people that didnt know what the hell they were doing. Thankfully for her, Jamie knew exactly how to treat her horse and wasn't one to disappoint. "He will be well taken care of either way." He gave her a quick bow of his head and waited for what she would say next.

"Great, I'll leave Cerus in your care then." Selice turned back to the stallion momentarily. She took a treat out of her satchel and held it up to his mouth. Her other hand stroked his neck while the horse consumed her offering. "Don't cause too much trouble." She mumbled to him. When he finished, Selice gave him one final pat before turning away and heading into the castle. On the way there, she began stripping herself of her riding cloak, impatient to get into more comfortable clothes. However, she did have one more duty to attend to before she could get to the good stuff.

Not long after Selice left, a man came jogging into the stables, out of breath. He took a moment to catch his breath, nose wrinkling at the smell of the place. His sharp brown eyes then scanned the area, clearly looking for something. His gaze locked on to Cerus, and he made his way over to Jamie. "Excuse me, is Selice here?" He asked, running his hands through his short brown hair, trying to put it back in place.

Jamie tore his eyes away from the beautiful horse in front of him and glanced at the man who had just entered. With a nod, Jaime pointed in the direction the stunning but seemingly cold woman went in. "Yes, sir. She should be right up there. She left him here not a minute ago."

Thank you so much," The man smiled while adjusting his rumpled clothes. Without another word, he walked towards the door to the castle, his long strides taking him quickly across the stables without causing him to become sweaty or disheveled. One of the men guarding the area elbowed the other knight next to him with a sly grin on his face, pointing to the rushing man as he disappeared into the castyle door. The two snickered, continuing their job and gossiping along the way.

Jaime watched the man walk out the door then, adjusting his clothes as he went. He looked more of a higher born than Jamie was and of course a lot cleaner too. That was one thing Jaime was hardly ever to pull off, being clean. Working in the stables as much as he did made it pretty hard to smell like anything other than horse and manure. Though he vowed to take a bath before the festival. As his mother had said, he was never going to find his destined smelling like he did. The thought of her saying that made him smile as he patted Cerus on the neck.

"Well, what you say we get you some water and grub," He said to the horse, leading him over to a empty stall. "Then maybe we will go out for a trot to keep your rider pleased. We wouldn't want to make her angry."

@Old Amsterdam

Nora was quite hesitant to follow Sarafine as she walked passed her. Not only had she just confirmed the death of the warlocks protecting the area, but she was also about to bring death to someone else apparently, vampires who owed her something. She wondered if it was Sarafine who had actually killed the warlocks, making her look at Asa curiously. He shrugged and then shook his head, the movement cause his beautiful black hair to fall over his eyes a bit. She loved when that happened.

“Sarafine has never been one to be on one side or the other. We both know that,” He said while nodding for her to follow the older darkling. Nora had met her once before and had been just surprised by her then as she was now. It had only been a brief chat during one of the many times Sarafine decided to hop over to the rebel side of things. I believe I might have called her a bitch at one point. It wouldn’t have been a surprise if she had, Nora was known for speaking her mind and having no filter. Plus, Sarafine really was a bitch, the ancient darkling would even agree to it.

“You ever going to answer her questions? She will find it disrespectful if you don’t. “Asa’s brow rose in question as he looked over at her.

Nora sighed, not truly wanting to answer the questions her elder had just asked her. They were such odd questions, it made her wonder why the older one cared what she thought. “Well I suppose if chaos broke out I would fight the best I could for my side. If the council fell then I would enjoy the luxury of being able to walk among humans without having to hide, they are what is preventing that, after all. If it is the rebels that fall, well I suppose I would fall along with them. Does that answer your question, Ancient one?”

Nora

"I swear, do you ever shut the fuck up? Seriously.." Nora walked with a scowl on her face towards The Boarder. It wasn't too far from her now. She'd been sent after hearing about an attack on rebels in that area. The entire way there, Asa had been walking along side her, talking non stop like he often did. Nora had wondered in the past if he ever got sick of his own voice. His response was always that he would never tire of hearing himself talk and that he enjoyed annoying her with it.

"I told you...this is what happens when you flirt with those damn lycans. What was it that you said when I told you not to test me?" He side stepped in front of her with a smirk on his gorgeous face. She stopped, looking up at him with irritation written all over her.. "Oh yes, I remember. Fuck off, is what you said. When will you listen?"

"The day my flirting stops pissing you off." Was her reply before she pushed passed him to continue on her way. Asa laughed behind her before quickly catching up to her.

"Never."

Nora rolled her eyes and held back a response, it would only fuel his fire if she did. However, she stopped again as she drew closer to the Wards. Someone seemed to be crossing through. For a moment she thought it was possibly one of the warlocks stationed in the area, but Asa had other thoughts on who the person could be.

"Is that? Yes, it sure is. Oh this should be an interesting interaction, Nora."
Ooohhh, I feel special lol. Though it does suck to see Reggie go.
Yes, I will be fairly available in a hlaf hour or so. At work now, but get off soon and can reply.
@Ever
He's near the border to the Rogue sector, surrounded by dead warlocks.

Sarafine has something about to happen, but I was waiting for someone else to post first. I could include you in that, if you wish.

Sure, wouldnt mind joining in whatever she has going on.
@Override Where is your character at at this time? I've been trying to read through everything, but haven't wuite gotten there. I know we spoke about them crossing paths rather soon.

Or @Old Amsterdam. I also wouldn't mind meeting up with Sarafine either if it doesnt work out with Jackson.
Whew, im behind. I will get a firt post up hopefully by today.

Name: Nora Ducane

Age: 125(Looks around 25ish)

Race: Darkling

Fraction: Rebellion

Appearance: Most people look at and think of Nora as a harmless human, given how fragile she seems, but really she is quite the rare being. She isn’t the dainty type of girl and rarely is seen in the type of clothes most girls are. Normally she wears loose fitting jeans and a dark colored tank top, with a black hooded jacket normally thrown over top her clothes. During the day, when she is around camp, her hair is always let loose and down, but is put in a ponytail when gone on raids. It is bleach blond, almost white, and goes down just to the top of her shoulders. Despite her being outside quite a bit, Nora's skins stays fairly pale. This makes her blue eyes always seem brighter than they really are. She wears a locket around her neck that once belonged to her mother. It is silver angel wings that are curled up in the shape of a heart. It has been passed down from generation to generation and was given to her just before her mother died of old age.

Nora often wears knuckless gloves on her hands to help keep people from noticing the burn on her right hand. It doesn’t do much to hide it, though, it does help slightly. Not many people can see it, but she also has a tattoo on the back. It is of angels wings that look like the feathers are dying off of them. She got it a couple decades after Asa was bound to her.

Personality: Nora walks a fine line of boarding between insane and being a extremely tactical person. She is very intelligent and knows how to manipulate things in her favor. She has a real way with words, this with a mixture of her innocent looks, usually allows her to get what she wants. Nora often can be seen talking to herself a lot, but the truth of the matter is, she isn't really talking to herself. She is actually talking to the demon bound to her soul, Asa. They have an interesting relationship, to say the least. It isn't exactly a romantic relationship at the moment, but it isn't normal or lacking any flirtatious teasing. They are possibly in love with each other, but Nora will deny it whenever it is brought up, even though Asa knows her every thought and desire. It is because of all this that she loves to make him jealous whenever given the chance. If pushed too far, Asa will bring up memories of their awkward moments together to make her stop. He toys with her in return and will often constantly chatter just to annoy her. It is a love/hate relationship really. Deep down she would do anything if he asked, but plays it off like she wouldn't. She is very flirtatious with everyone she meets, no matter if it is a woman or a man.

Weapons/Enchanted Item: The Chain of Fire: This is Nora's primary weapon of choice. It is a lightweight, spiked chain, with a 5inch long steel blade at the end of it. It lights on fire whenever she wishes it to and will burn everyone upon touching it, except for herself. It is normally wrapped around her upper torso when not is use.

History: Nora and her sister Emma were born in Berlin Germany in 1889. Her father was a studier of literature and myths, and her mother was a nurse. She grew up like any other child in Germany did. It wasn't the easiest life, but a decent one none the less. It wasn't until her mid 20s that her life changed forever. It was World War 1, her father had been drafted into battle like many other men in the country were and her mother a nurse at the nearest encampment of soldiers, leaving Nora and her sister to fend for themselves. They were doing well, that is, until Emma fell sick a few weeks after their mother left.

At first it started out as a simple cold, but it never went away and steadily got worse over time. Soon she could hardly walk or even eat anything. Nora racked her brains for weeks on what she could do, but knew they didn't have the money for anything. She had looked through many of the books her father had one medicine, but he had little in regards to that. One book in particular that she found wasn't quite about medicine, instead it was on German witchcraft and rituals. She paid the book little attention at first. What use would she get out of that? However, when Emma started losing weight faster and faster, Nora couldn't help but look to the ritual book out of desperation. After a few days of reading, she soon found a particular ritual to summon a demon, who would trade you anything you wanted in return for allowing them to attach their soul to your own. At least that is what she thought it said. She normally didn't believe in such things and she didn't exactly understand everything, but one did crazy things in desperate times.

After some more thinking, Nora carefully drew up the symbol needed for the ritual on the floor, cutting her hand with a shard of rock to use her blood. She crawled into it and for hours struggled to say the words in the book. After the better part of a day of trying to say the spell, Nora began to give up hope, but finally a voice whispered back to her. It startled her at first and made her pause and wonder if she was just going crazy. Surprisingly enough she wast. When the voice spoke to her it already seemed to know exactly what she wanted and gave her a simple choice; infuse her soul with his and save her sister or watch her slowly die. Nora took the deal without even thinking about it, not realizing what it was going to cost her or how painful is was going to be. Upon agreeing to the bargain, it started, the pain of the demon's soul twisting with hers. To this day she has never felt such pain in her life. The demon held true on his part of everything, but not in the way Nora thought. She expect him to heal Emma right away, but instead after her turning, he instructed her to feed Emma some of her blood, then kill her. Nora was blown away by his instructions and refused to do so at first. However, he quickly reminded her the only option her sister had was death. In the end, her sister was changed an hour or so later.

Once they realized what they had become, Nora and Emma left their parents out of fear that they may harm them by accident. They also didn't want them to know what the two of them were either. The demon started speaking more regularly to her soon after her turn and told her everything she had become and the consequences that came with it. He also filled her in on what her sister had now become as well. Since then she has roamed the earth, hiding the true creature she was from everyone, and trying to stay sane despite the demon in her head. She split ways with Emma in the 90s, but they still speak to each other when they can.

After a time, she grew sick of hiding in the shadows from the fragile humans. Every day of her life, she had to hide what she was and pretend she was normal like everyone else. Just keeping a job made her lie about almost everything in her life. It wasn't exactly easy to explain to your boss why you would randomly start talking to yourself when you were suppose to be working. Things were hard enough when you had a demon in your head, she didn't want to worry about having to hide she wasn't human on top of things. Why did supernatural beings have to hide for their sake, was her thought process on it. In 2009 she found and quickly joined the rebellion to go public about the supernatural world and has been aiding them ever since.

Name: Asa

Species: Demon

Appearance: Asa in the form of what Nora finds most attractive. He looked into her deepest desires and transformed his appearance to meet those desires. He stands at a fairly tall height of 6'5 and has a well built physique. His raven colored hair is long enough to cover his ears. It often sweeps across his face and over his eyes, causing him to constantly brush it out of the way. His skin is very gaunt, but is very smooth to Nora and lacking of any scars what so ever. He usually appears in a white button up shirt and dark jacket over top of it.

Personality: He finds Nora both irritating and absolutely fascinating, just as she does with him. His soul is driven to cause destruction and make her do dark things, but it is Nora that makes part of him care for her above what is supposed to be his true nature. Of course his love will never out beat his true being, but part of him at least wishes it could. He knows she enjoys torturing him and this is what generally makes him irritated. He cant stand her touching or being intimate with other people, which is something she does often. He likes annoying her in times when he is mad at her. He will talk about nothing in particular for hours just to make her feel annoyed. He also like to force her to remember moments between the two of them where they kissed when he is feeling particularly feisty. It causes her to become irritated and that is the part that is extremely fun to him.
Glad to see you in this Carnic!
