Tyler dropped his earth armor and shot into the air with a combo of fire and wind magic. He surrounded himself with a fire armor and dashed through the books burning them as he went through. He got his scythe out again and lengthened it with wind. He slashed at all the Meruins as it was long enough to do so.
Tyler created a shield of earth to ground the lightning. If that failed then Tyler jumped back just in case. He summoned some fire around him and then shot more earth bullets through the fire. This created flaming earth bullets to burn through any paper she used to defend herself.
Tyler shrugged at the sight of the cat and walked into the room. He shook his hands and some ice came off. He then began spraying some ice into the shape of a chair. He customized it a little so it looked very steampunk and he sat in it to show it was sturdy. He got up and the ice melted into a puddle on the ground. He walked back out of the room and sat on the floor looking at the cat.
Tyler frowned and stopped. He stomped on Tue ground and released a barrage of earth bullets from the ground at her.
Tyler did the most logical thing he could do in this situation with no time to think. He stopped the magic holding the water to his body and stopped his body and let momentum fling the water onto Meruin. He then pulled some earth from the ground and made a weaker armor out of that. He then began running forwards as he pulled a scythe from the ground. The scythe was made of pure earth. He hadn't quite mastered elemental manipulation enough to produce metal yet.
Tyler activated his gauntlet and closed his eyes for a moment. He then opened them as armor of water formed around him. He appeared to be floating slightly above the ground but really he was just standing on a thin layer of water. The water then began moving as he skated towards Meruin to begin the attack. Spikes of water formed on his fists as he went for a frontal assault. He swung and hoped to connect.
"Glad to see you made it." Tyler said. He pulled out a water battle and drank some water. He splashed some on himself as well. "Call the match Sol, if you please."
" Ok." Tyler said hesitantly as he knew that without preparation she had nearly killed them. With preparation he may be in a little over his head. He walked with Sol to the gym.
"I knew there are rules to this whole rank thing!" He exclaimed. " Oh and sorry." He apologized about the book thing. "Seriously though, if you have any books on elemental magic above intermediate, could I borrow them later?"

Meruin just finished checking up on her Grimoire, and sighed. No progress as usua;. She needed to do something to break this stalemate. Suddenly there was a knock on her door,The small magician opened it after disabling most of the defenses, and peered out. "Yes?"
"Hello Meruin. I'm here to challenge for rank 20. Sol is hanging out over there to judge I guess." Tyler explained. He looked inside Meruin's room and whistled. "How many books do you have?"
