Why did the Tyranid cross the road? Because it consumed the chicken's biomass and assimilated its actions into the hive mind...

Aidan is sitting in the pilot chair of his Invictus, staring out at the stars. His gaze shifts to the empty chair left of him and he let's out a sigh. The man shakes his head and takes hold of the yoke, steering the ship to the left. A blue-green planet comes into view and the man sits back once more. Earth... He had been away for quite a while. Usually he accepted his tasks while out in the field and here was often no point in returning to HQ. Unfortunately circumstances had forced him otherwise.

A red blinking light catches Aidan his attention. He hadn't even landed and bureaucratic nonsense was already irritating him. He pushes a button and before the other side has time to react Aidan is already talking. "Aidan Crowe of the Holy Inquisition. Flightcode #201948910." Silence on the other side... Then a voice of a woman can be heard. "Welcome home agent Crowe. You have permission to land in hangar H-45, level 23. Out." And with that the conversation ends. Aidan rolls his eyes and steers the ship towards the planet, making his way to the HQ and his designated landing zone.

He flies over a grand cityscape and follows the instructions on one of the many screens in the cockpit. Finding the appropriate hangar by himself would have been a nightmare. Luckily that had all been modernized in the time he had been away. And so it doesn't take long when he finally finds the appropriate hangar and lands the Invictus. Aidan get's out his ship and is immediately greeted by Lunt, second in command, some droids and three guards in black and red armour. Lunt steps forwards and looks down at a dataslate in his hands. "Aidan Crowe?" Aidan nods. "Good. Walk with me." The man turns around and motions Crowe to follow him. The droids stay behind and start cleaning the ship while the guards close the little cohort.

"It is a shame to hear that your partner, Zuviel Drogan died in the field. Can you state again how it happened? Your reports were rather... vague." Aidan looks uncomfortable for a second before regaining his composure. "As the report said: Torn to bits by a demon of Mallus*. Nothing left of him. An... unfortunate accident." He types some things on his dataslate and seems satisfied. The group passes several offices and enter an elevator. One of the guards pushes a button and the elevator starts going up.

"The Supreme Inquisitor has decided to pick a new partner for you." Aidan holds his breath for a moment before speaking. "With all due respect, sir, but I do not want a new partner. Other people hold me down. I work best alone." Lunt looks at Aidan and raises an eyebrow. "This isn't just a new partner. It's a fresh recruit recently promoted to Field Inquisitor." Aidan his eyes widen and this time his voice sounds slightly agitated. "I just said that other people hold me down, and now you want me to play the teacher? Sir, I must outright refuse. How am I supposed to do my job with some gawky kid asking stupid questions and disobeying orders because he doesn't like them!?" The second in command sits through the outburst and when Aidan is finally finished opens his mouth. "First of all," The door opens with a ping and the group starts moving again. ", it's a she. Second, we think that giving you a partner is for the better. Do you know how many Exterminatus' you have called in in the past two months, Crowe? Twelve! That is nearly a 300% increase! Command simply believes you need someone to keep you in check." Aidan let's out a grumble but remains silent.

The group walks in silence for about 15 more minutes before finally arriving at their destination: A large room decorated to look like something that was normal 800 years ago. Lots of wood and lots of too comfy looking chairs. Aidan hated it. "Just take a seat and we will get her." He sits down on a green clothed sofa and let's out another groan.

*=Chaos god of Slaughter
Name: Aidan Crowe
Age: 31
Appearance:

Rank: Field Inquisitor

Just a quick character sheet for reference
The man looks over his shoulder as he hears someone calling out his name. Ah, speaking about the Gale*. He turns to face the man just as two fishermen pass. He follows the men with cold eyes and steps forward as soon as they gone by. "Rickard. I though you would be by the temple complex by now. Or else somewhere near a park to walk your... pet." Septus looks at the bitch out of the corner of his eye, clearly not being to fond of her. "I think we've earned a fine glass of wine after the completion of that mission, don't you think? We made the world a bit safer by purging that village, even if you might not agree with it." He turns away from Rickard without waiting for an answer and walks straight to the nearest tavern, entering it.

The tavern he entered was called 'The Hearthfire' and a regular off-duty spot for members of the Order of Holy Fire. Drinking was not forbidden by the religion, but abusing the alcohol to forget your sorrows or to excuse yourself for doing stupid things was. Luckily Septus didn't need to worry about both. He just liked the taste of the wine, would drink a glass or two and begone again. He had no interest in chatting up with other Inquisitors and exchange stories. He had Rickard for that after all.

* = The devil basically. The opposite of Tivun
@Desire Could also be that you left the rebel group because you weren't agreeing with the way things were handled afterwards
The great city of Letalé. Home of the Grand Palace and the most Holy Temple of Tivun: God of Holy Fire. This is where he belonged. Not some small village in the outback. The peasants could grovel in the dirt all they wanted, Septus his calling was higher then that. The man turns a corner and finds himself on market square.

Farmers, fishermen and other craftsman trying to sell their stock can be seen everywhere. A smile curls on the mans face. If these people knew what kind of dangers lay in wake in the Blasted Lands... Well, that's what he and the Inquisition was for; keeping heretics and other monsters out of these civilized lands. Luckily he wasn't alone in the field. Although his partner could work him on his nerves at times, Septus wouldn't want any other by his side.

They just finished another job out of town. Some blood cult had taken hold of a village about a week ago. Septus and his partner were send to investigate. It ended up with calling in an Exterminatus squad. Septus didn't mind, calling them in. Everything was allowed to keep the belief of Tivun pure and clean. His partner saw things different though. They actually had an argument about it on the way back to Letalé. That's why he was now walking these streets alone and not with his partner. Maybe he should head back to the Inquisitor headquarters and talk things straight?
Character sheet:
Name: Septus Zuviel
Age: 32
Appearance:

Personality: While outsiders might describe him as cruel, fellow believers just call it zealously. Septus will do anything to get the job done, not matter how many lives it takes.
@Desire You could have been part of a rebel army against the Ashurian Empire or be part of the Empires army. I'm not really up to date of the factions of the past, but considering that there was first an Empire and then there were wars, I'd say there were rebel factions.
@Desire What @6slyboy6 probably meant to say was 'Sorry for that. I could have done that less aggressive. I just had a bad day. Just read the background again. I think there is something there you can 'come from' as army dude.'
Yamesh steps out of the transport with K-1LL in his wake. He switches his visor to low-light and his vision is engulfed in a green hue. He mutters to himself as he looks at the architecture of the ship. "Fascinating. I've been on every species their ships, but this is all new to me. Could we have discovered a thus far unknown species?" He walks up to the walls and scrapes some off with a small knife. He catches the dust on his wrist and opens his console. He switches on his comm so that the entire team can hear his findings. "Internal structure seems to be made out of normal Titanium Alloy. Nothing odd there. Hm... Traces of organic material though. They are not part of the alloy itself. More like... Founder their own way in. Bacteria perhaps? Would explain missing crew, but would not explain lack of bodies."

He closes his console and orders K-1LL to fly up to the catwalk and switches on his multi-vision, replacing his vision with that of his droid. The droid flies up to the catwalk, looks around for something out of the ordinary, but finds nothing and flies down again. "Hm. Disappointing.", he says as he switches back to his own vision. "Too little evidence to come to a conclusion. Commander. Permission to move further ahead?"

As he awaits the commanders answer he receives a transmission of Cayne. The Santerian switches to Cayne's vision and sees a flickering console. "Seems like control panel. Probably doesn't contain any information. Might get power restored or doors open from it though." He pushes the button on his wrist and his console pops up again. Yamesh pushes several buttons and sees the W.H.D.s signal. He activates the link and lines of code come streaming through. "Curious. Unknown coding pattern. Thought I knew it all. It will take some longer then normal. Probably still faster then humans." His hands almost glide over his console as he tries to break the code, gaining access to the console.
