Why did the Tyranid cross the road? Because it consumed the chicken's biomass and assimilated its actions into the hive mind...

The Wizards Tower

"It has been standing there for over five centuries. Everybody that went in, never came out. It doesn't look like much, but rumors have it that it's a lot bigger from the inside. Illusions, traps and other dangers await those who enter, but it is said that the prize at the end is worth it! You ask what I'm talking about? You must be new here. I'm talking about the Wizards Tower in the Drangazi Mountains of course!

This roleplay puts five players (including me) in the Wizard tower of the Drangazi Mountains. There they will have to overcome many challenges and will probably bash each others face in on more then one occasion.

Now, you might think that this isn't something special, or even advanced. And you would be completely right by that! What makes it special and advanced is the fact that we will be using our own voices to give our character a voice. Voice acting in forum Roleplay is the idea.

So why a dank tower you might ask? The players need to interact with each other to really get their speech flowing. What more fun is there to vent frustration with your own voice because the dwarf knocked over a candle holder for the hundreds time? It also gives the players a lot of NPC's to work with because of illusions and such.

The website that we will be using is http://vocaroo.com/.
While you can directly record on there, I recommend downloading a program called Audacity. It's free and let's you manipulate your recording in many different ways.
When it's all put together, it should look something like this:

Yoran enters the room and his mouth falls open in awe. The room was huge and that might still be an understatement. "Bloody hell. This looks amazing," he mutters to himself.

This is my preferred style of doing it. If you'd prefer something else, do not hesitate to pitch it to the group.

Now, for your characters. This is a high-fantasy setting. Any race you can come up with is allowed to be used. (to a certain extent of course). The idea is that this group has been hired by an unknown figure to explore the Wizards Tower and find it's riches. The payment was in advance and was quite substantial. The letter accompanying it just said to go to the Wizards Tower and wait for a everybody else before entering.
Your character can be many things. A doctor, a wizard himself, a scholar, a fighter, etc. All skills are handy in an unknown space.

That is all I believe... Seems like it. So, let our voices be heard I'd say!
I'm still lurking. Ever vigilant.
Don't worry about it. Real life can always be a bummer. :P Huzzah for continuing though!
Aidan looks at Val with a blank face and shrugs. "I'm alright. Why wouldn't I be?" A beeping sound announces an incoming signal. A screen flashes on and a man in black combat armor appears. "Inquisitor Aidan Crowe. We have your ship on our radars." Apparently they entered the 10.000 kilometer range. "We are aware of your mission regarding the planet. If you have any need of our assistance, we stand at your disposal. In Black we serve." The man salutes and the link is cut.

Aidan sits down in his chair once more and takes the yoke. He doesn't look at Val but starts talking to her anyways. "See that control panel to the left of you?" His finger points towards one of the many control panels. This one being attached to the left most wall of the cockpit. It has many display screens and some levers and buttons. Sitting in the chair, it is just out of reach. "Those are the controls for observation drones. The Invictus carries five of them. I want you to take control of them as soon as we are near the planet. Just pick a nice spot for them somewhere in low orbit, and put them in hover mode. While the planetary scan is running, we can observe the surface from up here."

The planet that so suddenly appeared, was quite close to the Beacon. It didn't take long or there was a dot visible to the bare eye. "There we have our mystery planet..."
Lovely to see you people interested. As I said, I'm looking for a small group. 4, 5 people or so. That is including me.
So... I had this idea for some time and I've also executed it several times on this forum. Instead of typing what your character says, saying it. Using voice acting to make your character talk. Unfortunately all the other times I performed it on the 'Casual' level, and people left prematurely, which is an occasional problem there.

I'm not asking for 7 paragraphs of text, or that you speak for about 20 minutes. I'm posting this in the advanced section because I want dedication and because the idea is quite... advanced. Your posts could be 2 or 3 paragraphs long, as long as their is passion and dedication in the bits that you talk. Be your character and such.
Also, because this is quite hard to plan and such, I want to keep the group small. Five people max.

I haven't really given the world much thought, so I'm asking you to think with me to create a world where our voices can be heard!

A useful little site is this and also an example of what this RP could be.
Voice acting I did for a character on Wildstar. Eh...
Or this one.
An inspirational speech I made for one of the previous VA roleplays.
@6slyboy6 Wait... so... You don't think it's a good idea? Cause saying good idea in a sarcastic voice... But you're using the italics, so that means you are using the idea and now my brain exploded because paradox bullshit.
@XSilentWingsX I wasn't quite sure yet. I was mostly thinking high fantasy, because that gives people all kind of different races (elf, dwarf, gnome, etc.) and thus giving them a lot of freedom with their voice.
I'm not quite sure what would be best in terms of group build-up. Do we, as a group stick to ourselves and mostly interact with each other, or are we all somewhere separate, doing our own thing? Tough one.
@ethanjory Unfortunately those roleplays were done on the old forum and thus I can't show them to you. But think something like the following:

Yirim steps out of his bed and looks out of his window. He sees the lovely flowers blossoming in the sun and smiles. "What a lovely day,"* he says to himself.

* Having a link to (for example) Vocaroo and the audio file.
