Oh good we're doing this again

The Siege of O1Y

So it's been a few days.

The war continues, and we're still winning. More systems fall every day. The Imperium is starting to show some signs of life, with notorious Imp flight commander and neckbeard Dabigredboat declaring yesterday that he'd take O1Y back from the Horde in two days' time. So far they have been largely unsuccessful, but a major Imperium operation put our station under siege. I outfitted a frigate with a cloaking device and hung out on the periphery of the battle, where I managed to snap that dank photo up there.

I haven't been participating in offensive operations seeing as real life is a bitch, but when I log on I get to hop from system to system defending our territory from the marauding raiders threatening our carebear PvE players. Over the past couple of weeks we've entrenched ourselves in our little constellation, expanding from O1Y-ED into the neighboring systems of K4YZ-Y and L-CSBU (You can find the map of the region here with our system of O1Y-ED outlined in black). For the most part defending our territory entails ganging up on one or two ships attempting to blow up mining ships or capture control points. Dozens of Horde pilots swarm these pirates in cheap ships and wear them down, inflicting far more damage than we take.

I'm flying a Wolf-class assault frigate now, which is dope. Had a few close calls where I almost lost it, including a fleet op where we faced off against a siege fleet of stealth bombers and a scrap today with a lone battlecruiser fitted with anti-frigate missiles. I snapped a quick picture of my battle-damaged ship as I was fleeing the scene.

Also I posted again, which is one more post than anyone was expecting, I imagined.

Jesus go back to iwaku I'm sure those nerds will happily fellate your toes
O1Y-ED, Fade

As of last Thursday the Horde advanced its staging system to O1Y, former capital system of Imperium member alliance SpaceMonkey's Alliance (SMA). In the wake of defeat after defeat, SMA announced its withdrawal from the front and has begun evacuating to the far removed Outer Ring. The allied forces have seized their territory and begun their assault on the Imperium stronghold of Deklein, the massive home region of the Goonswarm Federation.

O1Y is noisy. At any one time 200 pilots are active in the system, and a handful of dedicated Imperium raiders prey on Horde ships that stray too far from the beaten path. A standing fleet patrols O1Y and its adjacent systems, providing security to miners, ratters, and the many freighters that ferry arms, ships, and equipment to the front lines.

At ~23:30, the 70 strong fleet receives intel on the location of a marauding SMA Brutix, a combat battlecruiser bristling with firepower. A hapless, more-dead-than-not explorer jumps through the O-CNPR gate having just eaten a near fatal volley of 200mm railgun fire. A first response team rushes to engage, and within minutes a tactical destroyer, a strategic cruiser, and a flight of five frigates have the Brutix locked down with webifiers, warp scramblers, and disrupters.

Despite being outnumbered seven to one, the Brutix refuses to go quietly. The destroyer melts under sustained fire. My Kestrel, a nimble missile platform, is luckier, proving too quick and agile for the cruiser-class weaponry to target accurately. My shields are brought to thirty percent as the guns are turned on me, but once I bring my ship to orbit at a thousand meters the transversal velocity prevents her from landing her shots.

The Brutix, unable to hit the frigates or pierce the defenses of our cruiser, is reduced to a smoldering wreck without further casualties. I, ever the rogue, loot the remains ahead of my fellow fleet members and come up with some thirteen million ISK in better-than-military grade weaponry. Good compensation for my valuable contribution to this skirmish, I think.

The Brutix, valued at some 80 million ISK, was a good kill, but the high end destroyer we lost was worth some 74 million itself, meaning it was more or less an even trade. The only winner here, it seems, was me.

Check back for more updates in the future.

I played some, but got bored after a bit. Didn't even get a spaceship.

It seems like a game you have to drop hella money on anyways. I don't have hella money.

you start in a spaceship tho
Went to war against the Goons with a 100 person fleet. We got blown up pretty bad, wound up on the /r/eve subreddit. RIP
Just got back into it, was wondering if any of you played.
the last capitalist we hang shall be the one who sold us the rope

What the fuck is going on in here
We are working on a solution to this problem.

We might just have a samurai duel instead.
