Life can be...just wow. Lessons learned from my hiatus: it's ok to be vulnerable with those you care about, the people who love you will always remain in your life and be true to what you want.

"But see, that's the problem, isn't it?" Justin sat up, looking over at the draped Cameron with eyes betraying a level of exhaust that he had never experienced before.
"I thought we WERE doing the best we could, I thought that I was doing a great job. There's a reason I got put in charge of the scouts at such a young age. I know what I'm doing and yet...yet they all died. All of em. I should've known that they would've followed, should've stayed back with Ryken...I should've known that we would've gotten intercepted by those animals in the clearing and I should've acted on what I KNEW." His hands curled into fists, nails digging into his hands.
"Instead, we..." He pointed at himself.
"No, I, I got the attention of monsters that were responsible for slaughtering all of the people that I claimed to want to protect. If we had just moved like I thought we should've, just kept going past their territory, then maybe we would be in Portland already and would be coming back as saviors of humanity. Instead, the last of Omega, what was supposed to be a beacon of hope in this forsaken wasteland, got wiped out. And who knows if we'll be able to make the sacrifices Ryken and the others made worthwhile? What if we go up to Portland and those scientists Avery says are alive are actually all dead and this 'life-giving fluid' is nowhere to be found. What if this is all..." Fists again.
"What if this is all for nothing?" He stood up, hands curling and uncurling into fists as he peeled off his shirt and shorts, flopping onto the cot in nothing but his black boxer briefs. The muscles in his upper leg were partially flexed, hands uncurling for the final time as he jammed his elbows into his upper legs, massaging the tension.
"Ryken always told me that faith was important." He dug harder into his quads, eliciting a groan from his throat, but he continued:
"That faith was going to be the one thing that kept us going. Without faith, he would say, we were of men to be most pitied." A sad chortle as his hands returned the cot.
"I believed him. We all did. And now, with him gone, I don't know if the god he talked about is as benevolent as he said he was." He paused for a few moments, gathering more of his thoughts.
"Of course, the god he talked about I believe in...and I, although you may think it's garbage, I believe that God led me to you. You're the best partner I've ever had...well, really, the only partner I've ever had, but you set the bar high enough to where no one is ever going to be able to leap over it." He leaned against the wall now, legs folded on the cot.
"It's nice to know that you're going with me to Portland. I really wouldn't want it any other way." He shot her a smile, eyes closing, mind still processing. It was then that he realized he had never asked her if she had any...romantic attachments. Why not ask now? Not like they'd have time at any other moment in time.

Why do you need to know?
Oh shut up.

"Hey, so, back at Chesapeake...anyone catch your eye, make your heart all fluttery and whatnot?"
Thanks for the heads up!
Snap.

Snap.

"...ome ..n...Kyle...let's go!"

He jolted up from the leather seat, smoothing his hair to the side as his eyes adjusted to the bright sunlight streaming in from circular window to his right.
"Sorry...sorry, sir, it was just..."
"A long flight? A long day?" A stocky, barrel chested man asked with a teasing smile on his face, his salt and pepper hair betraying his age.
"To be honest, sir, yes...yes it has been."
"You'll have to get used to it, Kyle. This isn't the easiest position in the world and there's a reason I've had five of you rotate through my office in the past two years. I'm hoping you're the one that decides to stick around." Kyle grinned sheepishly.
"I hope I do too, sir."
"And enough of the sir crap. We're out of the United States and in foreign territory. As far as I'm concerned, we're two grunts trying to make sure Cairo doesn't have a crater the size of Jakarta from a suicide bomber. It's Paul from here on out, you got me?" Kyle's ash brown hair lilted as he nodded.
"Right, si-....Paul."
"Good. Now let's get off this plane. I'm sick of looking at it."

Eighteen hours of flight time. It had felt like an eternity, although the cushy interior of the plane aided in soothing the grinding journey. It had only been a week since Kyle Lozano, a wiry twenty four year old who had just finished his masters degree in political science, had gotten a call from one of his professors who just so happened to know that his good friend Paul Bucher, ambassador to Egypt, was in need of an intern that could provide a "fresh take" on the tense political situation in Northern Africa. Jumping at the chance, Kyle contacted Paul and was given a rather short interview by the man himself before being accepted. He had been given almost two hundred gigs worth of data to peruse in a few days and Paul expected him to absorb most, if not all of it by the time they landed. Not to mention relocation from Boston to D.C. and then to Cairo...his mind hadn't been able to process all the changes. Thankfully he had a bit of time now, breathing a sigh of relief as he was escorted into a rather plush looking bedroom in the residential wing of the Embassy. It was probably the nicest living area he had ever been in...

"Looks like we made it..." A smirk.

A couple of days of settling in passed, Paul granting Kyle an office next to his and getting Kyle to read the official State Department's guide on how to handle oneself in a foreign country as a representative of the United States, which essentially boiled down to "Don't be a moron". He was allowed to leave the embassy whenever needed, but he was constricted in terms of time. He HAD to be back by sundown no matter what. The streets of Cairo got, in the words of Paul, "unsteady".

His first excursion occurred a week after getting settled in, Kyle walking past the sights and scents of the urbanized downtown to find himself in a residential area. After wandering aimlessly, soaking in every sight and sound he could, he decided to return to the embassy when he realized that he was

"Lost."

Crap.
Hello! My main blurb is below...just felt like I should greet you xD

Main blurb:

I've been in a rather lightsaber-y mood as of late and would love to get a thread going in the Star Wars universe. However, that's a big stinkin universe to traverse, so I've whittled my area of interest to two specific periods of time:

A. The Old Republic Era (THOUSANDS of years before Vader, Luke and company)
B. The Expanded Universe, more specifically the time period 30 years after Return of the Jedi (Now referred to as the "legends" era...blech)

Both periods of time are awesome because they have such flexibility in terms of what we can create. Alternative timelines, the death or survival of certain characters, etc...whatever you want to come up with, we can do!

I have pairings in mind along with a plot. I'll list plots first. If anything catches your eye, shoot me a PM! With work slowing down for the next month or two, I'll have a lot of time to post, so I can get you a response pretty quickly(except on the weekends)

I don't have a specific gender for pairings or plots, so whatever role you like, go for it! I do play only males, but I can totally double if need be.

Plots:

Jedi x Jedi (Old Republic era)

Two of the best Jedi Knights in the order are summoned by Jedi Master Satele Shan for possibly the most dangerous mission a Jedi could undertake: a rescue mission to Korriban, the homeworld of the Sith. A Jedi Master has been taken captive and sent to Korriban, said Master on his way back from Deep Space with, as he put it, "discoveries that could change the galaxy". The duo are charged with infiltrating the Sith homeworld and rescuing the master.

Pairings:

Old Republic or Expanded universe:
Bounty Hunter x Jedi Knight
Sith x Jedi Knight
Sith x Bounty Hunter
Smuggler x Jedi
Smuggler x Sith
Padawan x Padawan
Jedi Master x Padawan

Looking forward to hearing from you guys!

Got it! Thanks for the clarification!
Hey, so quick question:

When you say Auspice is "biologically" eleven, does that mean she's in the body of an eleven year old? Does she had the mind of an eleven year old? Or that she was created eleven years ago with the body of a twenty year old?

Sorry...just a bit confused xD
Without much warning, the ebony haired woman took off, mumbling something about it being a few meters away as she strode towards the exit of the park.

“Well, that didn’t take long.” He looked to Sonny with an amused smirk.
“Come on then. I don’t mind the evening stroll.”

Following the woman wasn’t too difficult of a proposition now that they had managed to catch up, Akihiro wondering to himself how Sonny had managed to secure such a swanky address. Shimmer Luxury Apartments were normally reserved for those who were making a lot more than college students could ever dream to earn during their tenure at the academy. Maybe Sonny had a rich family who boarded him there while at university? Or maybe he was an illegal art dealer that peddled exotic artifacts in exchange for large gobs of money…

Snorting at the thought, he continued to follow the woman. Their excursion had been a bit too quiet for his taste, so he decided to ask:

“Sonny, you mentioned that you’re a university student…what program are you enrolled in? I’m currently teaching a few undergraduate classes myself, but haven’t had the pleasure of coming across you in class yet.” Then he realized what a dope he was for not actually introducing himself.

“The name is Akihiro Takashi…or, to most of my students, the bane of their existence.” He chuckled slightly as they carried forward, the graduate assistant noting the bright neon lights in the distance that almost acted as a beacon for their destination. It wouldn’t be too long before they got to the apartment complex…right?

“Forgive me for the question, but are the luxury apartments really this close to clubs and shops?” He asked the raven haired woman, an apologetic smile crossing his face.

“Don’t mean to question your judgment at all, it’s just…well, I guess I don’t find my way out here all that often.”

“The rest of us?” Superman furrowed a brow, turning to face the red haired young woman. She was dressed as a civilian, but she didn’t seem put off by the fact that a robbery was still in progress and that she was essentially trying to stall the Man of Steel from stopping the act itself. Who was this girl? He was tempted to brush her off completely, but the way she stood, the way her eyes bored into his skull…something was off. He couldn’t put his finger on it, but something was drastically off.

“I don’t know who you are, but if you want to have a conversation, let’s do so after I’ve cleaned up the mess these goons decided to create.” As if on cue, the rest of the robbery squadron emerged from the banks double doors, sacks of cash in their hands, their ski masks practically oozing with delight at their supposed haul. It took them a moment to realize that there was an intimidating presence looming over them in a red and blue uniform.

“I suppose I couldn’t ask you to just drop the money and wait to get arrested, right?” The robbers quickly withdrew their submachine guns, Superman responding by grabbing two of them by their collars and throwing them against each other before embedding them in the outer wall of the bank. After a deep inhale, Superman released a sub zero exhale, effectively coating the robbers in ice, fixing them to the wall.
“Now for the others…” Unless the young woman had decided to jump in, he would easily dispatch the others.
As the circle formed, Justin plopped down in a wooden chair, resting his back against the wooden support when he looked down to find Cam resting her body against his legs. He cleared his throat slightly, a chill creeping up his spine.

Be cool, man. Be cool.

His attention was thankfully diverted from the strange sensation by the survivors interacting with Jes. They had no means of communication with anyone, really, which meant that would have to make do with the people in their group. But then how would Omega keep going? They couldn’t risk throwing more bodies into a fight that was more easily lost than won.

It was at that moment that Cam stood up, proclaiming that she and Justin would head back. He wanted to object, but what other choice did they have? The survivors would need supplies and there was no chance Justin would be comfortable leaving them all here without any form of trained protection. The remnants of Jessica’s squadron could help train others while Justin and Cam were gone, living off of the supplies here until they got back. Ryken made sure that there was enough supplies in the bunker to last a couple of months, which would hopefully be more than enough time for the duo to make it back with…well, potentially a cure to the entire plight of the human race.
His answer was ready before Jes asked the question.
“No other way around it. Cam and I will get some rest here, load up and then we move out at daybreak. Hopefully those maniacs got enough of their bloodlust out and are headed back to their encampment. Should make things easier for us.”
“You’re sure about this?” Jes hissed through her teeth, approaching a bit closer.
“Nope. But we don’t have any other choice, now do we?” He uttered softly, looking to Cam with a gentle smile.
“At least I know I’ll have good company.”

The next hour was spent attempting to sort out sleeping arrangements and the logistics of managing fifteen people occupying twenty five hundred square feet, which thankfully included some private rooms that were probably a part of the owner’s living quarters. Justin had secured a large rucksack from the stash of supplies in the storage room at the very back of the bunker and had supplied himself with as much as he could without robbing them blind. He found himself in one of those private rooms, the one farthest down the hall from the main area, sitting on the laminate floor in the center of the room. There were a few cots tucked up against the walls with an antique dresser directly opposite the doorway. He wanted to sleep…he knew he had to. But the events of the past few hours…
“All that blood…could I have stopped that?” He mumbled to himself, laying back onto the cold floor.
“Is it going to get any better if we succeed?”

So I was out of the office for most of the day today...ugh xD

Will you get a post tomorrow for sure :D
