This is asking for an RP in which the Southend-on-Sea furniture bots battle for control with the Korean casino bots, in an ultimate struggle that will destroy the world.

Suddenly building some kind of wall doesn't seem like a bad idea. Vote Frengo 2016 for RPG President.

Is it sad that I bought a 10yo Netbook from Ebay with the sole intent of using it just to write my RP posts?

Sea Gorillas are not a "personal" issue, and affect the entirety of mankind. It's morons like you that prevent social and cultural progress.

Here's some lore for ya, fresh out of the oven. A possible place for people to go, perhaps? I dunno, use it or lose it, I just enjoy writing for fun.

Hell, I like fantasy and I like creative freedom. Sign me up.

Although, you gonna go ahead and create some over-arching plot to loosely tie everything in? You know, a bog standard encroaching evil that needs addressing? Or we just gonna go freeform?

Kalar Splint, Chief Ranger of Galuntrung Keep.

Traveling east along the Geshmere Road. Passing into the Geshmere Downs.

The journey was slow, by Kalar's standards, but he and his company managed a steady march in their cautious formation. They met no traffic coming the other way, which was something his men were eager to mutter about when he wasn't listening. The rain had broken, giving way to scattered clouds and a bright sun. The smell of wet grass and shrubbery was thick in the air, obscuring other odors that Kalar may have picked up otherwise.

"Smoke, milord," Gormagh hissed from beneath his hood, pointing a gloved hand towards the north east.

"Not a Lord," Kalar retorted with a sigh, before shading his eyes and looking towards the distance.

It was hard to see, almost dissipated by now, and obscured by gathering storm clouds - but it was there. A smear of black smoke marred the sky, and was drifting lazily over the horizon. Kalar's eyes widened, and his gut fell an inch or two at the realization of his prophecy; Okly had been attacked, but had it been destroyed?

As if in answer to his thoughts, a peculiar and high pitched bird song sailed across the air. The Rangers stopped dead in their tracks, crouching low as if commanded by a hive-mind.

Kalar looked back at Adria, "no doubt your hound ears have detected something a little odd about that bird call, and you would be correct in thinking it was forged by a human tongue. Liara has just announced her safe arrival at Okly." He turned to his nearest ranger, Gormagh. "Let's pick up the pace, get the men moving. Throw caution to the wind, I wont have Liara alone."

Gormagh nodded, and moved off to issue his master's commands. The Rangers grunted their approval, one by one, and started into a jog down the road. By now Kalar could be fairly confident the road was safe, Liara would have reported any threats laying in wait for them... though there
was no guarantee she hadn't missed something.

"We've still a bit to go, but we're going to need to quicken our pace," Kalar said to Adria, turning to address her fully. "I know little of your race, aside from a few rumors of its conception, but I have heard your stamina is more in line with a wolf's, than it is a man's. If you're able, perhaps you can run up ahead of us? My scout is alone at Okly, and though she has reported her safe arrival, I'd like her reinforced sooner rather than later."

Kalar took a moment to internally debate his decision. Sending ahead a bard to reinforce his best fighter? Did that make sense? No, no it didn't, but his gut told him it was the right thing to do regardless. He shrugged, and awaited Adria's reply.

Don't worry, he'll have time to get there. It isn't as if the group of foul smelling crazies found Liara yet :p

And she's also not going to let the Rangers walk into hell unawares :p she'll probably send something, as lo NH as I figure out what it is :p

@Frengo sorry to make you wait :( I'm finishing up with my break now, so I won't be able to post until after work. Unless you want to write something up on the bird noise signal that is coming his way.

Yeah I think I better have him pick up the signal, and it's been a post or so since his rangers have given the Wolf Girl odd looks, so I better pick up the slack there too.

Post incoming!

No worries about making me wait, I'm in no particular rush.
Alrighty. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do here. Kalar and co are still a little bit away, and Liara hasn't really had a chance to react to the happenings in Okly. I feel that Liara has to do something first, before the cavalry arrives - even if that means turning around and retreating to aforementioned cavalry.

... though I think Liara is not that kind of woman.

But yeah, at the moment my only real option is to "fast forward" Kalar's arrival, or make another post about the rangers moving on down the road - which is something that I don't mind doing, but at this point I think it's starting to get a little stale. Though I think fast fowarding would ruin a potentially awesome Liara scene.

Maybe we need to retreat to our PM palace and discuss things? I unno.

Maybe. Undecided. I'll keep an eye on it.

Here's a couple of characters I'm contemplating, as a token of my possible commitment.

@Frengo

I have not read the character yet, but I'll tell you what. You shall have your fight, but your opponent will be me and you cannot be sure what you will find in the town to oppose you. muahahaha... or something. now time to read the guy and figure out if I want to change anything.

You're the boss, I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Although, if you're happy to take on the role of the antagonist at Okly, it'll probably be best if me, you and Pezz (oh, oh and er, Absolis!) get a rough draft of events hashed out so we don't end up in some kind of freeform arena-type pissing contest. :P
@Cultural Titan Yo, I need to bring in an evil character for my show down at Okly. He is a bandit leader, with connections to Nyarlathotep cultists. A rabid dog, let loose on the people of the Kingdom, who does not hold intimate knowledge of the Darkness' plans or organization, but who knows enough to allow for Kalar to raise the alarm.

Can I use him? I'll change anything you want me to, but know that he'll likely become dead in the coming posts, and I do not plan for him to have any lasting impact on the lore.

Lemme know either way, cheers :)

EDIT: I intend for the Geshmere Downs to be an area north of Hellfire but south of the White Woods.

Kalar Splint, Chief Ranger of Galuntrung Keep.

Traveling east along the Geshmere Road. 12 miles east of Merandin.

Kalar's smile broadened as the last of the rain slapped onto the waterlogged paving slabs, "they were very smart, my memories of them warm what remains of my heart." The Chief Ranger dropped his smile suddenly, pulling on himself the guise of a professional killer. "Company," he barked without needing to look at his assembled men, "Skirmishers out in front, crescent formation, six paces between each man."

The Rangers, in their greens and browns, broke into a flurry of motion. They formed a vague semi-circle across the paving slabs, stretching into the shrubby by the roadside. In this way, they would break even a determined force of foot with their bows - whilst at the same time avoiding the possibility of being suddenly encircled in an ambush. It was a common skirmishing tactic, oft used by the Crown's soldiery. As Kalar had found, it was easy to teach and effective, especially in the forests surrounding Galuntrung.

"Ms. Solium, keep behind the firing line if you would be so kind," Kalar said, keeping his seriousness. "The journey to Okly is but a short one, and hopefully my scout will return to us in due time with a report. Until then, we must be vigilant. There is not telling what haunts the Geshmere Road, but I can be fairly certain it isn't human."

With that ominous remark, he moved away, and as one the group started a cautious advance eastwards.

@frengo my next post is up, and you have a new companion.

Awesome!

Now, I'm going to give Ms. Pezz some time to get Liara's ass over to Okly, otherwise we're going to end up falling over each other. I'll put up a little something just to say the group is back on track, but after that, we're gonna have to get a bit coordinated.

As for Ranger/Royalty relations, the Okly scene will spring things into motion, and word will be reaching the Crown very shortly of "impending dangers".

By the time the evil sleeks out of its crypt, I want to be back in my nice cosey castle awaiting the inevitable onslaught.
