"Write drunk, edit sober," is a viable strategy until you realize anything you write just divulges into offbeat ramblings.

"Maxwell, you're my friend. If these people are threatening your safety, I'm already involved." She sighed and grasped his arm. "Please, tell me what really happened. What did you do?"

Marcella frowned as she overheard the exchange between Maxwell and Lila. His words were dark, threatening even, yet the cab driver remained unfazed as she left. The doctor crossed her arms and walked over to Max. The expression on her face was stern, reminiscent of a scolding mother. "'Just an accident', hmm?" She raised a hand to stop any further protest. "Tell me what what happened. What truly happened."

Relief filled the doctor's features and her fiddling hads grew still. "Thank you," she said earnestly. "Truly, thank you. If you ever need anything, I won't hesitate to help."

She focused her gaze on Max, a slip of unease lurking in the cracks of gratefulness. "Really, I mean it." She felt fear. Not a chilling claw of terror up her spine, but a nagging concern laced nervousness for the safety of her friends. For what reason, she had no clue. Perhaps it was nothing more than paranoia from a long train ride. Or, perhaps, it was intuition garnered from years of mentally assessing patients to guess what was wrong before Marcella could properly examine them. No matter the reason, Marcella buried the unease with a thankful smile.
Wimena's grip on the Orc tightened. "Beast?!" she squeaked. She followed his gaze to a woman gliding over the ocean, her breath catching in her throat. It seemed, no, was magical. A tiny bit of assurance filled her. She was, after all, surrounded by hardy-looking travelers. Still, the unease from that cursed word persisted in her mind. "Perhaps you can tell us about this..." Wimena gulped nervously as she tried to keep pace with the Constable, "this Beast."
@Wick
That's Wicked cool! ;D Sorry couldn't resist.

Might as well introduce myself as well. Makes things less awkward.
I'm Fubsy. Yes, it's an actual word and no, it's not ironically used. I'm truly a very small girl.
Anyways, my posts can range from a tiny paragraph to a three full paragraphs, if inspiration and time allows it. I'm in school during the mornings, so expect me to check in from time to time but not actually respond until later at night. I love writing, I love making new friends, and I love cracking groan-worthy puns.
"Aid?" Wimena snapped to attention, no longer transfixed on the scenery. Her eyes focused on the constable and stepped closer to the group. She clutched onto the hem of Rockmar's shirt in order to keep from getting lost in the crowd of larger bodies. That and the large Orc was an excellent crowd-parter. "What kind of help do you need?"

Marcella bit her lip, nervously reaching for the bag she had brought along. "Not much," she admitted ruefully. "In fact, that's why I came here. Most victims were Metalhearts, so I assumed it started in the village. My plan was to research as much as possible in order to procure some medicine." She shook her head and leaned against the wall. "There have been no casualties that I know of, thank goodness, but it's only a matter of time."

Her fingers ran over the leg, pausing at where metal met flesh. Whoever had patched Max up had done an excellent job. No sign of past infection or gangrene. Satisfied, Marcella stood and took a step back. She cleared her throat, suddenly aware of how sudden her outburst had been, and straightened the creases in her dress. "Sorry...I can't help but worry about you. For all of you."

"Yes, well..." Marcella trailed off as her gaze traveled to Max's leg. Shock registered on her features, mixed with confusion and alarm. "Accidenti..." she swore softly, running over. Marcella crouched and examined the prosthetic limb, doctoral instincts kicking in. "What happened?! When did this happen?!"

Marcella laughed lightly and took Lila's hand. "C'mon, we can rest when we get back." Practically dragging the driver behind her, Marcella hurried back towards the shop.
