Bump!
Immediately Bolin began to berate himself since Korra's reaction clearly indicated he had picked the wrong flowers for her. His face refrained from falling too much though. Bolin glanced to where Mako had vanished in the sea of people and then back to Korra who seemed out of sorts. What had happened while he had gone? He frowned slightly and dropped the arm holding the flowers. Though Bolin was a bit childish at times, even he could tell something had happened. It couldn't be the flowers. Was it something between his brother and Korra? He tried to review the past few hours and even days, trying to figure out what could have happened between them. Their Pro-bending match earlier had gone great, they won. But had Korra and Mako fought? Bolin wasn't sure if they'd be stupid enough to risk team dynamics and get in a fight.

Still, he needed to break the silence that filled the space between them.

"What was that all about?" Bolin asked her flat out. He had explicitly told Mako about his intentions with Korra. Mako didn't seem bothered by it and Bolin didn't think he would be, in fact Bolin had expected some support and encouragement. So to see Mako leaving Korra who was now clearly bothered, made Bolin rather suspicious and a little concerned. He let out a long heavy sigh and shifted his weight backwards, away from Korra. "What's going on between you two?" He asked Korra, pressing further. "I thought tonight had been going so well. I was really enjoying my time with you, Korra but it seemed like you were holding back from me...for whatever reason." He glanced away and felt his fists clench, still resting by his sides, flowers long forgotten.

"And now I know...it's something to do with Mako, isn't it?" Though Bolin had no evidence to assume something had happened or was happening between them, he could sense it. And looking back on the past couple hours, he had to wonder if Korra wished he had been Mako instead. "I thought we'd make a great pair, you and I. I thought tonight you'd be able to see that too but I think I may have been wrong...about that." He wondered if he had also been wrong about Korra but that had yet to be confirmed. What he felt in his gut though, was that Korra probably liked Mako and maybe Mako liked Korra, even just a little bit. He let out a quiet laugh and gave a shrug, feeling rather stupid. "At least I tried. I'll see you tomorrow, we've still gotta check out the competition. Night." And with that, he headed off, wishing the night had ended the way he had pictured it ending in his head.

He would have walked her to the dock, would have leaned in and kissed her goodnight under the stars.

Instead he went home alone, not really caring where Mako had wandered off to.

Once the two batches of cookies had been baked and cooled, a warm chocolate aroma had begun to filter throughout the lower part of the mansion. It calmed Asami who had already munched on a few cookies while nursing a cup of cool milk. She soon put half a dozen on a plate and went up to her father's office, leaving it on his desk. She had a sinking feeling he would be back late again but she hoped the cookies would serve as a good treat for him with perhaps his morning coffee or his nightly glass of whisky. Asami headed out, closing the sturdy oak door behind her, her hand grasping the golden handle tightly. She headed back down the long hallway and then down the large staircase in the middle of her cherished childhood home. Asami headed back into the kitchen to grab one more cookie but found her quest on pause, given three sudden knocks snapping her out of her pensive thoughts.

She checked the grandfather clock and noted it was getting late by no means late enough to dissuade visitors.

Crossing over to the door, she pulled it open and found her face light up at the sight of her boyfriend. "Mako! This is a surprise." Asami smiled brightly, her heart beginning to feel the familiar flutter of butterflies that only Mako could coax from her depths. She noted his face and motioned him inside, "A good surprise, I assure you." She tried to soothe whatever nerves he had. She found it cute that even after all the time they spent together as a couple, he could still look so nervous sometimes. Closing the door behind him, she ushered him inside and off to the sitting room where the fire was. Though the spring season wasn't outright cold, it was windy come nightfall.

"I just finished dinner but there should be a few cookies left, I just took them out of the oven so they might still be warm." She considered slowly, wanting to mention she could warm them up with her fire bending but resisted telling him her little secret. It just wasn't the right time. Asami leaned against the back of the couch and looked to Mako who seem rather quiet, more quiet than usual. She glance down, his feeling seeming contagious. "How was the match tonight? I'm sorry I couldn't make it...I was doing some volunteer work and..." Asami trailed off, having an inkling that the match wasn't on Mako's mind.

Reaching out, she took her hand in his. "Well, what matters now is that we've got some time together." She smiled. She turned around to face the fire now, her eyes following the flames as they rose and fell, seeming to live in eternity. Asami glanced to Mako and then back to the fire. With her fire bending being explored, she was hopeful that it would bring her and Mako even closer as a couple. It might even give her and Korra some common ground, as it still seemed like she and the Avatar had a weird relationship with one another, for whatever reason. "So what's on your mind? You seem upset." She squeezed his hand lightly, her thumb gently brushing the back of his hand.
I can teach you a bit of Japanese on the side if you can teach me a bit of Korean.
Working on a post now, I'm hoping to have it done by the time I head out for drinks with the folks. We're getting this thing rolling, that's the important part. :)

EDIT: So I made Bolin a bit more self-aware in the situation he's in. But I'm sick of him being so dumb and oblivious to what's going on. Bolin supposedly has exp with the ladies, so I figure he's able to pick up on some hints/cues.
Haha no rush.
Although Botan wanted to smack Yusuke for his comparison of her to that of a cat, she supposed he did have a point. His words of praise were rare and were of course welcomed. She had to consider that maybe Yusuke spending so much time with Genkai was making him grow up a little. She felt a sense of relief as it seemed as though both she and Kurama had gotten what bits of wisdom and encouragement needed to continue to uncover whatever spirit power she had that somehow gave her a connection to plants. The food and company was a welcomed change from the dull school life Botan was having to grow accustom to. It was wonderful to see old faces again and silently vowed to not let so much time come between them. "Make sure you hit the books, Yusuke!" Botan called out as they left, hoping he wasn't hiding away from school if only to get a rise out of poor Kieko and his mother.

Letting out a yawn, Botan stretched before she and Kurama headed down the long path of stone stairs. "It was so nice to catch up everyone." She said happily, for a moment thinking of Hiei before she quickly cast him out of her mind. She was sure if he knew about her new found power, he'd laugh at the notion of Kurama training her. She had to wonder why Kurama put up with someone like Hiei or why they had crossed paths if but for a simple theft to help his ailing mother. Now wasn't the best time for such stories so she kept quiet as they carefully made their way back down to the street level and headed for the train station. The night was calm and slightly warm, a perfect ending to a very hectic week.

Humming as they got off their train station, Botan gazed up at the sky, unable to stop herself from thinking about the lost souls she was no longer escorting to Spirit World. She missed her job dearly but knew this job was very important. And she wasn't alone. She smiled to Kurama silently as they headed along the street, going back towards their home. The street lights began to flicker and the wind began to blow. It was evident these small disturbances were not random. Botan still hadn't been given a bat from Lord Koenma but she had to wonder if she could do something with her own spirit energy. Could she fire a spirit gun? Surely she could but she knew it could never have the same punch as Yusuke's. Her fears were confirmed as four scrawny imps skulked out of the shadows.

They were bright eyed and staring at the pair.

This clearly wasn't a chance encounter, not after what was going on at the school.

The imps had leathery pale brown skin and large claws which looked already bloodstained. Botan looked inched behind Kurama as the four advanced on them. Botan knew they could move lightning fast and were often looking for their next victims. From what she had seen, imps often went after pets and other small animals. It was rare for them to go after children but it did happen. It was odd however, for imps to be going after full grown adults such as her and Kurama. Something was amiss and Botan did not have a good feeling, other than being looked up like tasty prey.

Of course for Kurama these four imps would be nothing to him but she got the feeling it might be the opportune time for her to try and take at least one of them out on her own. Still, it would be tough to pin one down and she glanced to Kurama, her breathing already slowed and low. "I can try to take one of them out..." She began to consider as two lunged at them while the other two imps scuttled off to melt back into the shadows, clearly more intelligent than most, they seemed to be waiting for another moment to attack while the other two acted as distractions. Botan took a nervous step back as she began to channel her energy to fire but already felt rattled. Though Kurama could likely sense where they were and intervene before harm fell to her, Botan was still unsettled. "Sh-should we capture one?" She wondered.
It's fine, I would probably do the same if I were you.
I think even in the movies as Ron and Harry were whining about dates for the Yule Ball, Snape was pissed. Like he knows these little shits have a great girl but they'll make the mistake of not asking her out. Even Snape probably knew what was up. :/

God, Harry and Hermione just deserved so much better. I mean if my boyfriend ditched me in the wilderness (I know part of it was a Horcux talking but he could have come back the next morning) I wouldn't keep dating him, much less marry the dick.

Hmm hopefully this is the cringeist post for you and then it'll be smooth...er sailing.
They were all sort of on rocky terms with Ron I think. Though I read book one and thought Harry and Hermione would end up together, from the very beginning. Needless to say I was so pissed at the end. I grew up thinking best friends could totally be awesome lovers. Nooooope. The idiot gets the smart girl and the charming guy gets the girl with zero personalty.

Harry could have been so much more fucked up, considering how he was abused growing up. The fact he treats people with decency is a fucking miracle. I feel so bad for him, and he gets the boring wife/fangirl. I get he wanted a big family but it just seems so weird to marry your best mate's kid sister.

They are quite terrible. Mako should have walked away and talked to Bolin about Korra or something. But no go confront the girl and hope she doesn't make a move. Oh wait...lol Hopefully Mako find redemption though, I dunno about Korra, Tenzin needs to give her some lessons in dealing with people socially.
So so awful. Hermione should have punched his lights out for that one. You're right, his mother would have gone fucking ape shit. I mean if some guy talked to Ginny like that...well actually his reaction might be to laugh and shrug it off. I mean didn't Ron get weird when Harry took an interest in Ginny? I don't even care to remember. Ginny was a fangirl and I think I read that Rowling forgot about her until Harry needed a gf or something. You're right though, Ron has gotta have some inferiority complex or something but he actually was kinda smart in the books but him being a dick was just enough for me not to care about him. The fact he got Hermione Granger in the end is like...sooo messed up.

Eww I don't wanna imagine the Dursleys telling Harry about the birds and the bees. Poor Harry. :|

Well if anything he could just be there, kinda asking about Korra's intentions with Bolin maybe? Maybe accusing her of trying to make him jealous? You think the word "Asami" is even gonna come across Mako's mind? We all know Korra is just being selfish so that's not too hard to write yeah?
