I don't really like plots where one character is kind of center of it, even for just a catalyst of an event of some sort.

I think the cliche spoiled magic kid or the activist could prove entertaining. I think the possibility of mixing science and morality would be cool. Like an intern who could work for a company outsourcing people to "harvest" magic genes in other countries which could probably be deadly for those people whose genes have been extracted, who could also moon light as an activist who is against. Though that's saying the person can be both sides of the coin, unable to decide what they believe is right. I don't know. Are you looking for something more thrilling and serious or something more slice of life, light but with enough drama/secrets? I think our character choices will make the path as light or as dark as we like.

When the Dalek cut off the camera circuits and destroyed her only means of communication, Jen was rather confused. If it wanted to kill her, it wouldn't have bothered with all that. Jennifer looked to the Dalek as it neared her. She wasn't sure a witty remark or taunt would go over very well so she held her tongue and her breath. "You don't want to kill me, do you?" She realized. "If I'm alive, if means you can use me as a bargaining chip." She glared and remembered she still had the gun. She pulled it out from behind her and gripped it. "If I'm alive, then you'll get your way. But if I'm dead, then that doesn't stop the Doctor from destroying you." After hearing herself say such a thing, she found herself suddenly confused. The Dalek had killed so many people on the base and yet the Doctor was also holding it accountable for the war.

But the Doctor and Dalek escaped and now carried the burden of being the only ones left of their kind. And in that regard, Jen couldn't see herself pulling the trigger on herself or the Dalek. Wasn't being lonely punishment enough? And if the Dalek hesitated to kill her, didn't that also count for something? "If what I'm understanding is right...you can do whatever you want, you don't have to fight anymore. There's no more war. You don't have to kill people. And people don't have to be afraid of you anymore. The Doctor has changed and so can you." Jen suggested. The Dalek studied her and then rolled away and Jen swallowed. It sensed her apprehension, her fear, her doubt, her hope and it was driving him mad.

"I feel your worry." It said and then pointed its stalk back toward the camera in the corridor. There was some static before a connection was reestablished. "Doc-tor." The Dalek spoke and Jen walked over to it as it pointed its laser at her. "I have your com-panion." It said. "I will kill her if you do not open the bulkheads." It said. Jen glanced up and saw the camera back on. She looked back to the Dalek beside her, unsure of what to say to it now. She couldn't provoke it. That would be stupid. It had a chance just like the Doctor. Why couldn't they just stop fighting? She still held the gun in her hand but had no purpose for it. "Open the bulkheads." The Dalek said again.

"Don't." Jen spoke up. "I think it's starting to feel, I think I can talk to it and-"

"What good are emotions if you will not save the woman you love?" The Dalek proposed.

"What?" Jen snorted at the Dalek. Now was not the time to making such accusations! It was new to feeling, what did it know about love? Or was it not misinformed? Jen shook her head slightly, fairly certain her blush would go unnoticed at a time like this. She really wasn't sure if she wanted the Doctor to do it or not. If she could reason with it, maybe it was best if she talked to the Dalek alone? But on the other hand, she'd feel safer with the Doctor, even if he had scared her earlier.

The flirting was, he'd admit, getting a bit annoying for the Doctor. He couldn't imagine how poor Summer must be feeling. Though the Doctor's mind was kept at bay with a bigger issue coming to the front of his mind. Witches. He needed one thing, just one to reassure him that he was on the right track. When they got to the cell, they found a man in distress. Summer asked if he could be helped. "Let me see." He said and bent down to the man gave him a friendly smile. "Hello, I'm the Doctor. These people here, we mean you no harm." He said and put his hands on either side of the man's face. He then began to speak telepathically with the man to unearth what was going on and what brought him to such a place to begin with.

It was revealed that the man, Peter, had been visited by witches, that they wanted their design to come to life and that they were located on All Hallows Street. Suddenly a witch flashed into the cell and the Doctor looked up, already knowing what would come next. Before he could stop the woman, she touched Peter's heart and he died. The Doctor set him down and stood up, his gaze darkening. The witch then look around at Shakespeare, Summer and then himself. "Who shall I pick next...who who who..." She looked around and the Doctor stepped forward. "Oh you seem so eager, you smell so new...why were you at the Inn and now here too?" The witch asked him. "You have no power over me!"

The Doctor didn't have time for games.

"I have power in words." He said. "Let's see here...think think think. Female humanoid...shapes and words. Words and shapes. 14 sides let's see." The Doctor muttered and looked back to the entity. "Fourteen! The fourteen stars of the Rexel planetary configuration! Yes, that's it." He smiled and took a deep breath. "Creature, I name you Carrionite!" He declared. Instantly, the witch burst into flames and vanished. "I named her, it's old magic. It's just a different sort of science. You lot, you chose mathematics. Given the right string of numbers, the right equation, you can split the atom. Carrionites use words instead. And they picked Shakespeare himself to do their bidding because he's a clever clever wordsmith." He deduced.

The Doctor wasn't out of the woods yet, so to speak.

The hurried out of the ward and headed back into the town so they could talk about the matters at hand. Once they were back in Shakespeare's room, the Doctor voiced more of his thoughts. "The Carrionites disappeared way back at the dawn of the universe. Nobody was sure if they were real or legend." Summer then wondered what they could want. "Like most aliens who invade earth, sadly a new empire on Earth. A world of bones and blood and witchcraft." He folded his arms. "My thought is that they are in fact using you, they're making you write the play. I need to know the ending." The Doctor directed at the playwright. "Summer and I need to go find All Hallows Street, you must go and stop the play." He told William.

"Come on, Summer!" He grabbed her hand and hurried out of the room.
I only mentioned military in passing, I have no interest to go anywhere near politics or fighting with nations, I just assume for the background sake of everything, at least establishing whatever conflicts are going on be them internal or global would be useful. As far characters go, back to the basics here, what sort of character(s) would you be interested in playing? I assume the dynamic of a non-magic user and a magic user would be ideal. And as far as modern settings go, we could pick a city or country and start there, while traveling elsewhere. Or have a non-native of the country in the mix as well, as far as bringing in other branches of magical talent. I'd probably like something with a mix of slice of life, action, drama and mystery. I think as far as plot go, we could do something like character "on the run" as some people put it. Or do some sort of modern day quest to fulfill some mystery or problem. Or something more intricate?
Hurray! My post is ready to go finally (screw you, math final) but I'd love to know others were/are still around~
Since he is older, he could always change his weapon of choice, if you'd like. I'm just advising as a heads up, if he's going to be more of a supporting player (in the fighting sense), make sure it's something wide enough to help his friends. He's got enough experience to have a nit more fun and free-range, of course if he's from a small sector, he probably hasn't had the need to change if the Vs he's encountered have been lightweights. So if you want, you can change his skill set to karate, hand to hand combat has its fair share of pros and cons.

If we're going to touch on the discrimination of non-magic users, I'd say having magic as a genetic trait would be far more beneficial to the setting, what with certain families holding all the power with the inability of others to access the path to magic. It could lean towards science fiction or we could just have it as a preassumption within the setting, given that any investigation into the biology of magic would be rejected by the magician families, with the objective of perpetuating the secrets of magic. And there could be magicians who are in favor of it, making small breakthroughs.

Okay, sorry, I'm going off track here, hehe.

If we wanted to have a field of science dedicated to the use of targeting a magical gene and perhaps selling it or altering it, in case someone doesn't want their child to have it. We could probably do something with upper and middle class if that was the case, as I assume if the gene itself became a commodity, then it could be something the wealthy either abhor or want a monopoly on. Either way, I can see class system dynamics working in some way with magic v non-magic users, then of course there's the idea of putting them in the military and all that, though I'd have an idea that only certain parts of the world can have native of certain magical affiliations. What do you think?
The man piped up and agreed that his accent was in fact Northern but rather than elaborate, he sort of paused.

Rose gave him a bemused look, waiting for him to continue. "Yeah?" She grinned a little. But then he posed an odd sort of question, asking how she'd react if he told her he was from a far distant planet and that he box in her room was a spaceship. Before she could even think about the slim possibility of him being honest, there was a sudden crash in the kitchen. Looking over to see what was going on, the Doctor had already ran off into the back to see what had happened. The blond on the other hand, wasn't too concerned. So what? She had worked briefly in the food industry before, hated it, and knew accidents could happen. And if she were back there, the last thing she'd want was a patron poking around making things worse. "Doctor?" She remained sitting but craned her neck to try and see anything.

Shaking her head, she wasn't sure what to do. In the chaos, she wondered if he was telling the truth, as absurd as it was, it made sense. Sort of. If he was an alien or something, then his interest in strange happens could be explaining. Rose was never sure if she believed in ghosts or aliens or anything like that. But strange things were happening and the only person with answers was off in the kitchen. She hoped he was at least getting her a sandwich while he was at it. Looking down, she saw something tiny scuttle across the floor towards the exit. "What in the world...?" She got up and looked back toward the kitchen.

"Oi, Doctor!" She called out. Before she could consider getting him herself, the blond decided to just run after the little doll herself. She ran after it as it let itself out. She wondered if someone was remote controlling it. How else could it be moving on its own? Rose saw it turn down the street and she was quick to follow after it. "Um 'scue me, sorry sorry." Rose pushed past some people on the sidewalk as she tried to keep up with the plastic pipsqueak. Looking up ahead, she saw it was headed for the crosswalk. "Oh no you don't!" She darted ahead and cut it off.

It tried to turn back around but she dove for it and grabbed it. It squirmed with a surprising amount of strength. Rose got to her feet and moved out of the way of people trying to cross the street. She let out a tired sigh and took the key it had. She looked at it. It was an ordinary key. What was so special about it? She held the door with one hand, holding it by the back of its neck like you would a cat. Looking, she saw the Doctor hurrying over to her. "Hey, 'bout time you showed up. Look what I got." She smirked and held up the doll for him to see. It was quite feisty at this point. "I guess you were right, something weird is going on, we hit the jackpot. Way better than trash bins, I reckon." She said and then opened her other hand, revealing the silver key.

"It had this. Any idea what it is, mister alien?" She asked, unaware that it just so happened to be the key to his very own spaceship.

The sky up above was slowly churning, slowly filtering out the final bursts of sunlight. Soon, the sun would descend and the moon would be upon them. Daylight still remained but they only had an hour or so left before the street lights would come on and things would become even more tricky if they wanted to find more answers. "Have you seen Mickey?" She asked the Doctor though she had a feeling he hadn't but it didn't hurt to ask. "You think it's possible some tiny plastic man's kidnapped him?" Rose joked a little, not really taking that notion seriously at all. It was more likely he just got bored and left. Idiot. "Anyway, what should we do now?" She asked him. "If you really do got a spaceship, you must have some kind of...lab or something like that." She waved her hand a bit.
Ok...bump.

I've thought of doing that initially but I decided no, at least not from the start. There could be events as well as increasing the number of colour balls as an upgrade or a downloaded skill during the role play after your permission, but if fighting scenes would be as minor as I am assuming this role play to play out, then chances are the colour balls won't get any events.

Well fighting will happening more frequently than "infrequently" when they do happen, they should only take 1-3 rounds at the very most. Fighting for Correctors is their job but I intend to keep fighting scenes only out of necessity if they are important to the plot or are a way to introduce a new enemy or ally. But still your characters should be used to fights (hard or easy) and considering yours is getting on in years, if you'd like to make colors or sizes have more specific purpose, by all means.

Side Character G said I'll add this in the CS. Mentally with a hand in the air.

Okie dokie,

Side Character G said I know you got your answer and this isn't a question but what did you mean by 'his Corrector alias wouldn't take advantage of [his physical skills]' ? just curious.

Correctors, unlike every day people, use their own physical endurance and health in the DgtWld. So I considered his training may be something he'd use to his benefit. Since if you're injured online as a Corrector, it does injure your body in real life.

Well, consider me interested. It'll be fun to see a balance between the powerful arts of old and the advancing machinery of the modern ages; the ritualistic nature of magic and the clash with modern society and pragmatism. I'm up if you're up, any suggestion as to paths you want to take?

I would say a benefit or theme to mixing old and new concepts of magic versus technology, would be the discrimination of magic users and those who do not indulge in it. I suppose it would depend if we wanted magic to be a learned art for anyone or something genetic that could lean toward science fiction?
