Finding Garret was a blessing, the area was pretty wild and upbeat and Sasha felt a bit out of her element. Perhaps this was what traversing though the hallways of high school would be like. It wasn't a surprise that he led them over to the tanks where the fish were kept. "A fish?" She wasn't sure what she would do with it or how to even take care of it. But she didn't want to brush off his offer so she went along with it. They approached the booth and the woman was quick to reel in the two customers. Sasha bit her lower lip, feeling anxious as Garret bought two nets and handed her one. "T-thanks." She said lightly and held it in her hand and then moved it from one hand to the other, testing its lightness.

She and the boy headed off to look at the tanks. She wasn't too picky as to what kind she'd end up snagging. There was a flat shaped fish with purple and blue stripes. It looked nice. She dunked her net in and caught it after Garret had finished. She put hers in the plastic bag, just as he had done. Sasha held it up to her face, now able to get a closer look. He tapped the bag to get her attention and asked what she'd name it. "Oh um...maybe Anette? It looks like an Anette or maybe..." She trailed off, unable to think of anything else. So Anette it was. They made their way back to the booth and handed their nets back and as they left, the woman called out, mistaking them for a couple dating. Sasha's face turned bright red and she felt like putting the cool plastic bag to her face to cool her off.

She didn't though.

Because that would be weird.

Instead, Sasha looked away and pretended to have found something very interesting. Before they could clumsily decide what to do, Devon came over to them. They chatted briefly and then decided to go get ice cream since she couldn't steal Devon's. That would be mean. She and Garret headed over there and found even more classmates, such as Amity. With such a crowd of people around them, she found herself getting rather uncomfortable and quiet, as knot tightened in her chest. "I uh...um..." She didn't get much outside though, so she quickly shut her mouth. Near the end of the encounter, Amity offered to watch the fireworks together and she could only nod because it was the nice thing to do. "Bye." She waved and felt her face still burning bright red for a large number of reasons now.

Now she really wanted something to cool herself down. She got some ice cream, as did Garret and they found a bench to sit down. Sasha was still a little spooked by the sudden bombardment of people and chatter but she was starting to calm back down and relax again. The prospect of high school was even more daunting now. She chewed on her plastic spoon even though she finished her ice cream, she could still taste the hint of vanilla against the soft plastic. "If...if anyone looks like a couple, it's gotta be Amity and Devon, they're always together and laughing." She muttered thoughtfully as she tried to shake the awkwardness from the air around them. "I think she likes him. I mean like...like like." She cleared her throat a little. Maybe this wasn't the best way to clear the air.

"Not that I um..." She didn't mean to imply anything mean to her and Garret though. "I mean we...we're just friends..." Right? "And that's totally fine."

The place was buzzing with people and chatter.

It was really fun and inviting.

He wished he brought a soccer ball or something.

By the time Amity tracked him down, he had found some new kids and was already making friends. There was a girl named Emily, her twin brother Patrick, and their friend Ryan. They were going to attend the same high school as them though they went to a different school on the other side of town. Devon looked up and motioned for Amity to join the conversation. "Emily and Patrick are waaay into sports, they wanna do them in high school, I think that's pretty cool. I know I do too." He mentioned to Ami. Ryan wasn't into sports but he did like being in the outdoors. After talking a bit longer, Devon said bye to the trio and headed off with Amity to see what was up and how things were.

He spotted their cluster of classmates wandering around, buying food and playing games. It seemed pretty fun to relax before school started and who knows, they might not have the same classes and be able to hang out as often as before. This was a good way to celebrate summer and bring on the new fall. "Want me to win you anything?" Devon struck a pose and flexed his arm. Amity picked a game where you toss a ring to loop around bottles, a real tricky one. But he was up for the challenge. He spent three bucks before he won Amity a large teddy bear. He was quite proud of his accomplishment though when they were leaving, some guy came up and won on the first try.

Bleh to that guy. Devon walked around with Ami as they talked about classes and what they think they'd be given. "I'm just glad we're not going to that stuffy private school. They probably expect all students to get As and be perfect." He grumbled. Still, their gym and other facilities looked pretty top notch. It likely had high tuition to get in. For once, he was glad his parents weren't super rich or something. As the sun went down and the sky became a blank canvas of dark blue, a tinge of excitement surged through his body as he leaned over to Amity, since they were in a crowd. "It's almost time." He whispered to her as they finally broke free and found a patch of grass. It seemed Amity had invited Sasha and Garret, as Ami had motioned them over once they spotted them.

"This is gonna be awesome!" Devon said as they all sat back on the grass to watch the display. Devon was between the girls while Gary was sitting on the other side of Sasha. it seemed they were comfortable and eager to see the light show begin. Booms of bright colors flew overhead and Devon fell back and slipped his hands behind his head to form a pillow. He saw Sasha just stare up, sitting a bit back with her hands supporting her weight. Devon glanced to Amity and grinned. This was a pretty amazing moment. It was warm and comfortable and he couldn't explain why. A large green and white firework seemed to end the festivities as the onlookers began to go home. He got up with Ami and headed off, having said bye to Sasha and Garret. "Should I walk you home? If I don't, my mom might lecture me for not being a gentleman." He chuckled a little, not sure he understood the logic since Amity could definitely take care of herself.

What sort of alien did you have in mind? If it's canon, it might be easier to research if you had a race in mind. Like Silurian or something...

Ever since school began, everything seemed to be moving at quite a quick rate.

Sasha signed up for Gamers Club, as well as Poetry and Literature. She got to read a few of her short stories and the others in the club seemed quite supportive of her ideas and progress. Sasha was fine with making friends in her various classes. So far, she hadn't fallen into any cliche pitfalls with bullies or popular kids. The school year seemed promising with the change in weather. Things were getting cooler and days were seemingly getting more and more shorter. The cool breezes and color of the leaves were so euphoric. She loved walking around campus and the neighborhood.

The autumn season gave her a great deal of inspiration and motivation.

Having James with her in Gamers Club was very fun, they got to meet other like minded people and gossip about the latest news for games and products. It was pretty fun compared to the schoolwork and the other club she had joined. Sasha was weary to join any more since she wanted to stay accessible to her mother when the baby arrived which would be any day now. Sasha was up early, as usual, helping her dad make breakfast for them and her mom. They were eating scrambled eggs and toast while drinking copious amounts of tea, as usual. Sasha and her dad talked about some of the tests she had coming up. Her mother soon wandered out and kissed them both as she made herself a cup of tea.

Sasha's eyes lingered on her mother in a bit of a protective manner but she just went back to eating. Soon it was time to head out and meet up with James as they had been for the past month since school began. She wiped her mouth and ran to brush her teeth quickly. By the time she ran to the door, her dad handed Sasha her things and kissed the top of her head. "See you, bye!" She smiled up at him and skipped outside. She didn't need to look back to know that her dad was still watching her as she crossed inevitable paths with James. "Morning." She said as she always did at the start of each day, just like she'd always say "Night" when they parted ways. "Oh it's going greeeeeat." Sasha flashed a toothy grin. It was going quite well, much to her amazement. "Aw I'm sure it's not utter shite...well maybe just a bit." She teased as they began to walk down the empty road, all those going to work had left a while ago.

"Colouring is always the tricky part cause you can't exactly erase it like you can with a dinky pencil." She said thoughtfully as she peered up at the pale sky. "You gotta help me with the Math and Science tests coming up this Thursday." She nudged him. "I need heeeelp." She whined and tugged at her glasses frames, she didn't really need them because her vision was fine but from time to time, she liked to put them on when she was feeling silly. They were hot pink and caught loads attention for fun. There were people in the class she could ask for help but she decided to bother James before approaching anyone else, they were neighbors after all. As they got to school, it seemed some group of upperclassmen were putting up flyers and decorations.

Why?

Tapping James' shoulder, she jogged over to a baby blue flyer and read it. It seemed there was a big dance in two weeks for the school year's start. The theme was to welcome back returning students, to welcome new ones and to bring in the season of pumpkins and everything magical like that. The letters were deep red and expressed that it was semi-formal and tickets would be on sale this Friday and next Friday. She glanced over to James not sure why the prospect of a dance made her a bit nervous. Not a lot of things made her nervous. Other students seemed to be pushing to take a look so she stepped off to the side by a bush to let the others check it out. "Our first high school dance huh?" Sasha mentioned to James. "Could be fun...dancing, snacks and music!" She spun around and pumped her fist in the air with a bright smile.

Why be worried when you could be excited for something new?

The bell rang and she adjusted her backpack. That was the bell to signal they had five minutes to get to their first class. "Heh, I'll see you in class!" She waved and hurried off to her first class which was English. What a great way to start the day. She could wake up her brain and her heart with reading and writing. Most of her classmates were sluggish and sleepy but she was always wide awake and ready for whatever their teacher wanted them to work on. The rest of the day went by smoothly. Lots of kids were talking about the upcoming dance when she ate lunch with her friends. A few of them were already gushing about who they wanted to ask them but Sasha just shook her head, not wanting to worry about finding someone.

She and James met up for Math and Science and Art was last on the list. As the bell rang to let them out, she packed up and wandered over to see what he was working on. "Not bad." She told him. Of course she was mighty proud of hers so she wouldn't say much on the subject since she knew James wasn't happy with his so far. "It's Art, how can they fail you for trying? It's all subjective right?" She offered as she went to wash her hands and get her things so they could head to Gamers Club. Her other club met on Tuesdays and Thursdays while the Gaming one met on Mondays and Wednesdays. "Someday we'll be Seniors walkin' these halls, I can't wait. I mean that's in four years, four years ago, we weren't even in Middle School." Time was funny like that. It always amazed her. "We'll never be Freshmen again, not until university..." She shrugged and put her hands behind her head as they walked, her hands messing with her wavy blond locks.

'I should grow my hair out.' She considered as they walked along. 'I'd like that, lots of girls have long hair and pretty clothes...' Her musings trailed off as they passed by the vending machines. "Oh, want anything to eat? I'm kind of hungry and thirsty." She paused and pulled her backpack around so she could fumble for some pence. "If not, you can go on and I'll catch up with you there." Sasha muttered as she kept hunting down her coins. 'Where the bloody hell are they? Never around when you need them.' She pouted slightly as she finally found some money. She'd need to ask her dad for some more, also to buy a ticket to the dance. Of course she wanted to go, regardless of friends or some sort of...date. It seemed logical to her, that if she wanted to go, she would go.

Differences in hue would be a challenge to study, which isn't an issue, just something to deal with in terms of how many differences we want. Color is sort of subjective, it seems. We could say most sapphires are plain blue sapphire, some navy/sea color, some lighter/sky color, and some really light or dark? I'd say breaking them into:

Non-magical - most common - plain sapphire
Teleport - rare - dark dark sapphire (near black/navy)
Attack - uncommon - darker sapphire
Defense - uncommon - lighter sapphire
Healing - rare - light light sapphire (near white/pale blue)

Does that work?

Would we want different gems to have any sort of individuality to them? Like small etchings to sort of depict what what they do? Some would be for healing, attacking, transport, defense, etc? Or would we want to keep them generic? So we could assume if two teleport sapphires are in use, they could be used to make a portal?

I will be discerning the top five or so fandoms I am craving, they are subject to edits when I see fit. I will ask you to be capable of posting two to six paragraphs per role you take on. I do have a fondness for people who double more than those who don't. If we can enjoy one pair, that's fine but don't be surprised if I ask you to double. Sometimes it is a deal breaker. I'm a female but I don't really care what gender I play as long as my partner is skilled, as am I; why should our own gender matter?
