I guess my comfort zone is "eccentric side character."

"Huh." Shemp said, looking over tat the new appendage. "Guess you aren't a rat after all. Tiger, maybe. But it looks like it was an albino. Tough luck man."

"Considering the armed escort, I think it'd be easier to work with Eris if I didn't know exactly who she was." Shemp said. "Seriously, don't share anything with me that you wouldn't share with the cops."
"We're in central park." he replies slowly, still in his dazed state. He remembered tripping, he definitely tripped, and then things had happened, and then he wound up falling onto a tree. The top of a tree. Which, he guessed, could only mean he had missed the ground the first go 'round. He knew he heard about that happening from some science guide somewhere, falling and missing the ground. But when that happened you didn't end up somewhere else. You couldn't trip in England and end up in Hong Kong, because that didn't make any sense.

He looked around again, at a loss, to the woods around them and listens to the strange calls that emanated from within. Calls he had never haired from any sort of bird he knew of, which was strange because he quite liked birds. "Maybe near the Zoo?" He said. "Have you ever been?"

Shemp approached the table, wondering if he would enjoy clams now. Kind of afraid, actually, that he would enjoy clams now. He approached the seafood laid there cautiously, tentatively reaching out a hand for some then drawing it back, wondering if he should. The feeling said yes, but Shemp didn't know if he should indulge it. On the one hand eating the right things might make it quiet down. On the other, he knew about habits. Habits were formed when electricity fired along certain paths in your brain, and the more it passed through the easier it was to shoot along that path. That was how habits grew stronger. That was how if you kept eating something you hated you'd eventually come to love it. He had the uncomfortable feeling that there was a new part of his brain now, one with its own likes and habits, that he didn't want to make stronger.

But on the other hand that fish smelled soooooooo good.

His dilemma was resolved when Zain trod all over them table on his way to his seat, and his cravings were buried by the very comforting, very human feeling of disgust as he watched the boys animal feet fall on the food in front of him. He backed away, looking around the table to see what had been left untouched, and smiled when he saw that Vlad had taken his suggestion. So he sat down in a chair with a bowl of salad as some new part of him raged that his was insufficient. He ignored it, picked up a fork, and began to eat. "No shrimp," he said under his breath, between bites. "Allow me to introduce you to the world of humans."

He crunched a tomato and imagined a path in his brain lighting up.

Shemp headed for the door, eager to actually eat something. Mostly because he was hungry, but...

There was that tiny voice. The feeling. The compulsion to whip out his fists and solve his problems. He could swear that it was getting insistent, and that scared him because it confirmed something for him: when you got shot up with pureed animal you also got a bit of Wild Instinct, and what people called Wild Instinct really had only very basic settings: eat what's in front of you, screw what's in front of you, live, live, live. While the Mantis Shrimp may not be one of the most passionate lovers in the animal kingdom it made up for this with almost psychopathic aggression, and that little feeling that all the worlds problems could be solved with one punch was only growing with each passing tummy grumble as the Wild Instincts insisted that he was dying and needed to fix this problem immediately.

Like hell was he, a human being, the pinnacle of evolution on this planet, going to let himself be beaten by one of those lazy asses who had stayed in the ocean. He gripped that Wild Instinct in the snares of logic and buried it under a mountain of higher thought, but it was still there. Like some ancient evil, whispering up to its followers from the depths of its sunken temple, just waiting to find someone desperate enough to free it. Not eating earlier had been a mistake he did not intend to make again. He would fill up that crack in his defenses with food, and shut that feeling out.

"That's like for self discovery or something." he replied to Oliver, to distract himself "I'm pretty sure when you teach someone something you tell them things. Thought maybe I missed that day? I might have been working." Then he spotted someone in front of him he hadn't seen before.A blue haired guy that looked about Oliver's age. A guy that, just by looking at him, actually made him sort of uncomfortable in a way that he didn't understand. He called out to him "Hey buddy, where were you during orientation?"

"Now see, why couldn't anyone just tell me that!" He says, standing up as his stomach growls. He looks down, and remembered that he hadn't eaten anything for breakfast. "I wonder if they'll have the same buffet?" he thinks aloud.

"I know how to add and subtract and multiply and all that jazz, but they tripped me up by adding letters."
There's a sudden crashing through the trees as something falls through them, a series of painful cracks as something tumbles through every single branch on it's way to the ground. The greenery is silent for a moment, before a empty headed looking man stumbles out of the treeline in a daze, clutching in one hand a tourists guide to New York's beautiful Central Park. He wobbles over to the edge of the lake and numbly brings the book up to his face. After reading a bit, he puts the book down and looks over his surroundings with a bewildered expression. He brings the guidebook back up and turns a few pages, then puts it down again to have another look round. During this round his eyes finally fall upon Jynmi. "Oh, hello." He says vacantly. "Is this the duck pond?"

"well, How good are you at math?" Oliver asked in his Electric high pitched voice Shemp. His tail floating above his head Happily.

Shemp takes the question with a great deal of gravity, spending his time shutting down the computer in quiet contemplation, hand resting upon his chin as though pondering the nature of the universe. Suddenly there's a light in his eye as he arrives at the answer, which he delivers to Oliver as though it were some sort of great philosophical dilemma. "What is algebra?"
