I guess my comfort zone is "eccentric side character."

"That's great. Does that mean it's safe to sail around now?" Maisy asked as she continues pocketing foot stuffs. Around them more players were picking up anything that caught their eye, but Maisy wasn't in any mood to confront someone over food that wasn't even real.

These aren't our beetles, our beetles have been nothing but well behaved. These are some that escaped our first containment.

I won't chance our beetles catching the strange notion that we've perpatrated some kind of indefensible injustice on their forefathers. These beetles want to be gone? Fine, hurry them along. If possible I'd sweep them all the way to that desert the bees said was so deadly. Once they're gone we're free to write whatever kind of history we want.

Do the berry plan anyway. If these bastards have been in contact with our boys I want to know, and it never hurts to show a bit of good spirit. But once we confirm that I want our army rallied and those things driven into the wastes.

Of course, none of our beetles are going to be involved in that operation. Ideally, they wouldn't even be made aware it's happening.

The good news is that our enemy is neither unknown nor clever. With no more beetles we can have our scouts safely keep an eye out for more wasps, but I think the bees may have nipped that problem in the bud.
"No, no, it's fine. Look." maisy said, opening up the menu and just emptying the tab she had set aside to hold her culinary experiments.

There was a moment of frozen time as reality itself jittered, then they were surrounded by a wide circle of foodstuffs that hung in the air at chest height for another moment before the game was able to finish applying physics to them and they all fell to the ground at once. They bounced like plastic play food, each held together by their status as a Dropped Item. Bread, pastries, cakes and pies, sandwiches of all kinds and combinations, Fruit desserts, whole pastas still steaming on their plates, dozens of different types of pizza. Some of this stuff had also clearly been made from from parts of monsters, such as the line of barbecued lizard man tails each as tall as Maisy herself or giant wasps that looked as though they had been candy coated, and a salad of wild green where you could still see the teeth if you looked close.

"Oh! Ahhhhh, I didn't realize I did this much." She said, clapping herself on the cheeks as interested players started looking over. She bent down and started scooping the stuff near her feet up, vanishing it back into her inventory. "It's still good, the ground isn't real. trust me, it tastes a lot better than anything I ever bought from an npc coo-you have cooks?" she said, suddenly looking up as she realized the implications of what her friend was saying. She had cooks? she beat an army. "That's incredible! But, I thought you were after a pirate?"

"Hey can I have this parfait?" a guy called from the edge of the food bog they were caught in. Maisy jumped, looked back at him, and gave a quick shaky nod. The dude scooped it up and started eating.

Maisy picked herself up off the ground, rubbing the back of her neck. "Rhea..." She said, groggily looking up. Then she spotted who ran her over, and her eyes lit up with recognition. "Miss!" She said, leaping up and wrapping her arms around Jono's neck. "I wasn't sure what had happened to you. I was starting to think you wouln't come back. Oh!"

She pulled back, opened up her inventory, and a fried fish sandwhich popped into her hand. The bread looked like it had been infused with wild herbs as spices, and it gave off a faint shift of honey instead of the fish smell one would expect. "Here, they this. Cooking is really complex in this game."
Train
Once, there was a man. He lived in a land far away. Alone, he spent his days chopping wood and whittling small wooden people.
Maisy had spend the past couple of days after she'd run out of quests to do in Rhea getting deep into the cooking system. It was as remarkably complex as it was simple, combining various ingredients you could find into recipes that tasted much better than anything she'd found in the vendor shops. In fact, she could take their food, throw it in a pop or put it over a fire, combined it with a drumstick she got off a killer bird, and then come up with something ten times better.

But she was actually starting to miss actual people. She hadn't seen anyone, at least not since that nice sand lady had come and gone and just interacting with her for a shirt time made it really apparent just how fake the NPCS were around here. So she packed up the food into her inventory and, after setting up a surprise for anyone brave enough to cross the sea and come to Rhea, boarded the NPC Ship back to the starting town to see if anyone was still there.
Oh okay, cool.
Did she get there by boat?
Anybody get to that town Maisy made it to yet?
