| In-Depth Appearance |Despite his apparent age, and his actual age, Conrad has a body that must have been hewn from stone. The guy is built like a brick shit house, just pounds and pounds well worked muscle underneath a healthy layer of fat. If you didn't know any better you could say that he was a powerlifter, not very toned but, good god if he took a swing. Standing just shy of six foot four and around two hundred twenty five pounds, Conrad is definitely not someone you would want to bump into in a shady alleyway.
The former kings pride has taken quite a few hits these past five decades since his awakening, wearing down his once regal poster down into something more humble and relaxed. With the times he has had to really reinvent himself as a simple man, enjoying the invention of "denim pants" and these marvelous "t-shirts". While not as dignified as robes and bear skin they are infinitely more comfortable, so it evens out. On the colder days he wears heavy work jackets, the British equivalent to Carhartts, and steel-toed boots. Finally there is his tattoo, created back when it was just a sharp piece of bone and happy thoughts. This tattoo covers his right shoulder and ends at the elbow. The the outside eye it just looks like a simple runic spiral, but should you take a look through the magical you will see that the tattoo is infinitely more complex, with ancient words of power and status inscribed so densely together that it just appears to be solid. The magic does not give him any special power, just a message. Old King of the Mountain.

he man known as Conrad is a bit of an enigma, not because he tries to conceal who he is but because he seems to be too many things at once. On the one hand he is the regal, stoic figure of the king he once was. Strong like the stone of his home, but flexible in his views. On the other hand he is a paternal figure, giving old person advice and gifts to those he considers friends. But it isn’t hard to bring out the warrior in Conrad either, a choice word or a malicious action is enough for this “Old Man” to begin swinging. And finally there is the widower, a man who has lost his home, his family, his species. He isn’t going to look for pity but he is alone in this world, once he dies his race becomes extinct.
But until that day comes, Conrad will be here. A drink for good fortune, for loss, and those we left behind. He’ll smoke with you while talking about the day, and he’ll prepare feasts for momentous occasions like birthdays, holidays, and just because damnnit. Conrad may have lost everything, but he’d be damned if he lets that define him.

| History |There was a time where Conrad Aldhard went by a different name, a name that had merit, weight....power. Bergentrückung, King Under The Mountain. As king of the Mountain Trolls Conrad had power, power he used to keep his people safe. Because for all they had done, Man had become violent and enjoyed a lust for conquest. To see his old friends fall this way brought a sadness to old king’s heart, but he would protect his people before falling the the vices of man. For decades the war raged, sieges and bloody engagements weakening both sides until talks of peace were working their way up the grapevine.
Wary of blood and war, Conrad agreed to meet with Eastern king for peace and was betrayed in turn. Powerful witches had cursed Conrad and his people to be as of stone, “Until his mountain falls.” The statues were placed back into palace while it was pillaged, taking his wealth, his art, and his home. In this desiccated keep Conrad and his people waited, until the Mountain began to shake. It was World War II and the mountain was about to fall. The Third Reich had discovered the empty keep and turned it into a base of operations, gaining some insight into the Other but ultimately losing it all when the allies began to attack.
Conrad awoke under a dark sky, naked and alone...but alive. Since that day he has survived, scraping by as he learns about this new age. While it’s true that it’s never been easy, this isn’t the first time the Mountain Trolls home was destroyed. Unfortunately, it will be the last.
