Stepping up to the entrance Alexander Lanc looked around. His meeting to convene the council shouldn't have ruffled many, if any, feathers as it was to be expected. Messaging was all well and good for private matters but for matters that were going to affect the whole the Dahken the council needed to convene, discuss and vote on. If the council were to fail it would be all together and not with each person trying to save their own interests. Looking down he rechecked his outfit once more, a pair of slim fitting black trousers and a black shirt, top button done up, with polished brass buttons, each of which had the crest of the Pre-Descent Reclamation Foundry etched on. It was a conservative outfit that he had worn on a number of business occasions. Under his arm he carried a roll of files and notes on plans he had for the city. Whilst electronic copies would be needed he felt a history and idea of quality was needed for the very first reforms that the council would bring in. Coming into the main building he was directed to the Council Chambers and found that there was six relatively comfortable seats set out in a circle for discussion. Taking a seat directly in front of the door he sat down and organised the papers in order of how important they were. He would just have to await the other members of the council now.

Well, it has finally happened. After years of campaigning and pulling in favours I am here. Council Member Lanc, it has a great ring to it. Pillar Dakhen will have strong and wise leadership under me and my peers. I was surprised to find that a council meeting is yet to be called although the updates from the Nets have been very useful. I feel if we, as a Council, are going to press forward to improve Dakhen then this will require our joint cooperation. I also see a need for innovation and forward thinking. The main problem I have is with Lady Katherine, her business is in replacing the labour of our citizens with cheaper slave labour. We need work for the masses to gain their support. I shall have words in private as soon as I am able. Besides that the rest of my business can be in the open.

Esteemed members of the High Council, I think it is high time that we hold our first meeting to discuss our moves in these early days. We must make an impact and early to keep the masses on our side. I have a number of ideas to bring to your attention and would like to hear the other initiatives you have. Please respond post haste.

Class Notes: Alexander Lanc owns and operates the Pre-Descent Reclamation Forge, a workshop that has been fully outfitted with the latest tech and machinery to allow for the study, manipulation and storage of pre-descent tech as well as the fabrication of new and innovative products (not even close to the scale that larger factories that the nobles operate). He employs a number of small teams to aid him in his work; this involves Alexander leading small expeditions of mercenaries and scientists to aid him in the discovery and recovery of new Pre-Descent tech. The Forge itself is split into three main buildings, the Lab, where Alexander with a small team of up and coming scientists study and test pre-descent tech that they acquire. The Fortress, an incredibly secure vault protected by a small but professional team of guards where tech and prototypes are stored. The final building is the Floor, this is a long building that stretches between the Fortress and the Lab, here Alexander works all kinds of contraptions to build prototypes and then manufacture a small number of fully operational products. Also in the floor is the housing for the science teams, guards and Alexander himself.

Character Description: Alexander Lanc was first noted during his time as a minor in the education system. His family were fairly poor, in no small part to their desire to force Alexander through a private education. He and his family soon found that, whilst he was exceptionally poor in the physical educations, he was adept at picking up knowledge in engineering and scientific courses. After flying through the schools and writing a number of papers that are still heralded as ‘ahead of their time’ by the tender age of 25 Alexander began to focus his keen mind at a specific area, pre-descent tech. He found the history of the world they lived in fascinating and on a number of occasions paid to simply join and observe expeditions onto the surface. He was soon contacted by a large corporation to produce new products for home use. The corporation funded the ground work of the Pre-Descent Reclamation Forge and sponsored two expeditions onto the surface. During this time he developed menial products, new Nets ports and new items for personal grooming. However the corporation cornered the market in these products and Alexander found himself a very wealthy man because of this. Using that wealth he spent a fortune on expanding the Forge. Once the patents on his products expired and the corporation no longer had to pay him to use his design Alexander decided his time creating tat for the masses was over. He loved exploring new tech and simply innovating old tech was not his passion. With enough money to fund one more expedition Alexander led a team back up to the surface. Here he excavated and returned an intact data core that detailed a completely revolutionary method of transferring data. On his return he developed what is now used in most electronic products to this day, the Pulse Transmission Signal, a way of passing energy through wires at much higher speeds than previously found. Government contracts and private businesses flooded the Forge to use his tech. To begin with he sold it at a high cost and continued to take expeditions onto the surface to try and create more revolutionary tech. More recently however he has made the design free to everyone; this was his first act in running for council. Next he brought out a line of new food containment units, giving a number of them away in a free lottery for those living close to the bread line. There was huge support for his new designs and whilst some were less successful than others all were renowned for good quality and improvements in life. Using this he sold himself on the fact he would bring new and forward thinking innovation to the outdated systems and use these to create a bustling economy that would be the envy for all. With the support of a lot of people Alexander Lanc made it too the Ruling Council.
