The Free Cities of Harra is a collective of independently governed city-states which act collectively when dealing with foreign powers and influence. Despite their constant aggression towards each other, they are like brothers in that as soon as an outside force threatens them they forget their rivalries and band together to deal with the enemy.

  • The City of Muaador: Muaador is often called the Western Hill, or the Last Hill, because the city rests upon the westernmost of the large hills within Harra. The territory surrounding Muaador is somewhat dry, flat plains which spread unhindered until they reach the moist coastal lands. The plains breed some of the fastest horses in western Azukhar, and make Muaador famous for their swift light cavalry.

  • The City of Aslordan: Aslordan is a city whose culture is driven primarily by money, it is the largest of Harra's trade cities and everything from clothes and spices, to horses and slaves pass through its port. Its forces are primarily comprised of mercenary companies and privateers, conscripted for good pay to defend the city and the surrounding territory. This means that the military strength of Aslordan is in a constant state of flux. They may not be very virtuous, but your word and your sword are what people in Harra value most so it is extremely rare that mercenaries once bought would turn on their employers.

  • The City of Ovesh: Hidden in the densely packed hills to the north, Ovesh is a land rich in minerals and ores which produces most of the armor and weapons to come from Harra. It also employs the greatest number of slaves in all of the 'Free' Cities. Ovesh is very well fortified, and the other Free Cities consider its position impractical to assail during their regular conflicts so most of the infighting done with Ovesh is performed near the borders of its territory.

  • Slave Soldiers: Harra as a whole fields a large number of simply trained slave soldiers, primarily as pikemen and archers which require easily taught skills and little training to be effective. They are typically either used for the easiest assignments, or those with the greatest casualties.

Evokers: Harra has a rather strange way of dealing with evokers. They have no prejudice against them as all Harrans crave power, however, they will not allow them to go free. If an evoker refuses conscription into the military they are exiled, not executed. Which is more dangerous for the evoker, as many nearby nations hold stringent views on evokers. Evokers are seen as a status symbol amongst the cities, with each government trying to gain as many as they can. Sometimes, evokers are even bought, sold, or traded between other cities like bartered goods.

Hmm... okay. I'll see what I can do.

    Alright.

Dunno if this was answered precisely, but approximately what era of medieval tech are we looking at? That'll influence the arms and tactics of the Othean military and Constabulary.

I'm malleable, as long as we're definitely pre-firearms and cannons.

    Umm... how so?

It in no way reflects the layout of Kalesian forces, or actions taken in anyone else's posts.

By the way, Ellri and Guilty. Do you have dropbox? I've gathered pics for about a year in multitude of folders. It's still a bit of a mess, it'll take me a long while to properly orgonize it all since I've ordered it to a world that I'm creating. But if you ever want to take a peek for inspiration or for a specific kind of pic, I'll gladly share.

I have one text document with links to everything organized by city type, location type, species, class, tech, and all that. The bottom could use some more organization, but its pretty easy to browse through. IF I want something for a specific world/setting of mine, I add red numbers next to it.
@Grothnor, you're going to have to revise that post.

Suspected that. We'd recommend using a program with layer functions. The one we use is Gimp (which is free). There's a lot of other functions in that program, but you don't need them. we've used gimp quite a bit, and we rarely use more than half the functions. With such, you'd save it as a layered file for working with, then export it as a single layer to upload. One advantage to that is the option to edit text later. Or even to have a border function.

Oh really? I will investigate it shortly.

Other than that the armor is a bit lighter than our design and the nasal horns a bit large, it is otherwise remarkably close to how we'd imagine the armored Kalbeasts. Nice image, Spark.

What tool do you use to modify the map?

I hate to say it, but...paint. The original image is so large it's difficult to do it with imgur/photobucket/etc, and I'm not really skilled with programs so I'm stuck using the simple stuff.
I thought you would like that.
I added two NPC nations to the map, and I'll post some lore entries about them. The first is "The Free Cities of Harra" which is to the northwest of Othea and west of Ulior, the second is "the Adrany Protectorate" which is north of the Kingdom of Idris. I also added cities to each, and feel free to argue with my city placements though I warn you it would be difficult to remove them.

For the free cities, imagine what would happen if Rohan and the Harad mixed.
