Yeah, i just worry that stuff like this will die, to many rps that i like die out of the gate or when things are getting established. There was a really good halo odst one i was in that died, but at least that one started.

I was in that RP, we are trying to get it revived too.
(I swear I saw you post in regards to that at some point).

But atm I'm waiting for people to confirm, cause we have too many people claim to rejoin, but not actually post anything in the OOC.

I think we'll go on general concensus; what everyone agrees they want it to be. This is the OP btw, I just use this account so my signature doesn't fill up half a page.

Fair enough.
If I can cash in my vote I'd suggest High-Free or Low-Casual.

Flat out free gives far too little detail or character development to get any meaning out of an RP.
But Mid-Casual and up tends to slow down too much cause of the post demands for the RP to progress as a decent pace.
Not necessarily in terms of our own past work, we've all done that.

I mean more in terms of community or skill level.
To better explain:

-Majority of RP's on the old Guild were Free Level for me. It was mainly what I could handle, addressing exactly what I intended to do and that's it.
Over time I got into more detailed RP's, may it be more demanding free, 1x1 and some Casuals.

Now, today most Casual RP's still demand so much content (Sad result of non-elitist advanced moving over) that I can't keep up with most Casual RP's well.
So, I go to Free and check an RP out...

Read the In Character a bit...

*Commence brain hurting*

The writing was so... basic, rushed, almost nothing about the characters were ever revealed. It was quite literally "Oh hi, want lunch?".
Or what should have been a life altering event is just brushed off in mere hours...

It really made me realize that free RP's just seem to have too low standards for me to handle tolerating now... despite the fact that Casual still tends to be a bit too demanding. :/
(Or just so slow that they never actually get anywhere with the plot).

But the scariest thing is... That free RP, it also felt Nostalgic. As painful as reading it was... It was nothing that made me go "What could they be thinking!?" but rather had me go "I used to do this shit... I did this same stuff... How did I ever do this stuff?".
TheMusketMan said Spam used to be you say the wrong things to the wrong people you would get jumped on your way to your car. Now if somebody says something even remotely wrong, everybody starts shouting at each other until Off-Topic calls 911.

What's the difference?

Both of those descriptions just sounds like an environment ripe for arguments and hurt feelings.

I happen to be a bit of a history buff and historical RP is a favorite of mine so I feel I have to stay something about it. There is a very good reason to have a dickish villian that can be a rapist and get away with it. He could own slaves, he could be a lord of the lands and frighten his subjects into not defending their women. Depending on the place and time period of course. For example, in Scotland starting in about 5 or 6th century AD, there was laws against the beating and rape of women. A man could be punished harshly by the justice system at the time. If you chose a time like the Dark Ages, after the fall of Rome in Britannia or during the 12-13th century Europe where it was constant warring between warlords, it would be hard to enforce any laws. Just like modern times, it depends on the society. If you go to the Sudan or Afghanistan, women are treated like property, even in 2014.

True.

I guess it's not something I think about much cause the majority of RP's I'm in take place in some kind of fantasy land.
So if people are going to a gritty/cruel medieval world they just make it that, not much need to focus on the specific year or location.

I think you should embrace words such ashashtagyoloand swagit would do wonders to help people know you're joking.

Those words specifically... Eek, rubs me the wrong way.
You do have a good point though, I should find something to help clarify.

I doubt lol would work though, people would probably just assume I'm laughing at a serious matter.

No one knows when you're joking because 90% of your jokes are what you use in legitimate arguments with users.I.e., I know your avatar is a joke but I can easily 100% believe it's you because of how you act on here.

That's still an issue with how others interpret what I say and make it a conflict.
If this is true, the majority of my conflicts aren't in fact conflicts I cause but conflicts because people make assumptions about what I mean.
Edit: Nevermind, stuff came up.
Sorry for accidentally spamming this OOC.
I think it's more an issue that the DM has promised multiple times now to make an OOC on ______ day and never delivers.

There's a difference though. While the rape and pillage of a conquered village was acceptable, going up to another man's wife or daughter and raping her was not. A double standard to be sure. It was more to do with war and putting a populace under heel than sex. But, of course, it doesn't change that some people think of other people as property in particular in a time like the Middle Ages when human rights was basically unheard of.

I will admit my Medieval knowledge isn't that great.
But it was a time where human rights were almost enough, and misogyny was rampant.

Very easy setting to have a "Woman are oppressed" setting if you ever wanted that to be the theme of the RP for some odd reason... :/
But also very easy setting to create really dickish villains who wouldn't realistically be in jail or suffer a death penalty.
