John sighed with some degree of relief after seeing the Doctor himself. He felt more... relaxed than he imagined. Also glad to hear they were going to have slightly more backup than just themselves, even if not much any and all help would be great...

Then a new person arrived. A 'specialist' that could turn invisible. Great, that was going to make his instincts be all over the place. He only hoped it would remain an ally, fighting enemies you can't see is never a fun bet. "Captain, would you mind if I drive the vehicle the VIP is in? That way we can have direct contact at all times." he asked to Gregory.
John tried to rest as much as he could on his way to the pick up point of the VIP. If the trip was going to be as dangerous as the commander made it sound, he wouldprobably not have the luxury to sleep later.

After arriving to the base, the young Evans felt slightly calmer. It looked like the people they were supposed to scort were, overal, normal. That's good. It meant they would probably stay under cover in case shit went down, which is always a plus. "Maybe the professor could use some help packing? I'm free to help him move his stuff if he needs to." He offered, seeing how disspleased with the current schedule Gregory was.
I'm cool with time skipping/speed up to the mission as well. Just tell me what vehichle/machine my guys gets assigned/allowed to choose from, since he doesn't have his own yet.
"Undesrtood, Captain" John said giving back his file. "I will head up to the hangar now to see which vehicles are available." He saluted and left to talk with the mechanics to see what they had ready.

The current question was if he should take a machine to act as offensive backup, defensive backup, focus on transporting the VIP, transporting supplies or perhaps even just scouting around. He imagined his superiors, who probably already had a couple ideas of how they wanted things to go, had a plan already and s role for him. But, as always, it was never too bad to have a couple cards hidden in case the hand did not went as expected, so perhaps he could talk with the mechanics to give a bit of a plan B to whatever transport he found.
"Other than their Valkinais, what other transports are at our dispossal, and..." He gave a second look at the file before looking at his Captain. "Would it be possible to request maps of the region? Perhaps with information regarding the enemy attacks seen so far?"

From Test Pilot to Pizza Delivery guy... Oh well... At least it looked like they were given enough freedom to act by themselves in case something happened, but he still wondered who would carry the blame if one of them caused the mission to fail?
"Is there a time limit to this mission, sir?" John asked first, as he eyed the file given to him, looking for information about what he was supposed to pilot this time as well as more information regarding the hostiles movements around the area.

@Hell Coos We don't need unnecessary words, but you might wanna add a wee bit more on the posts, lad.

Doneso.
Hearing the call, John quickly headed towards the bridge. This was going to be the first mission for him in a while, so his excitement was taking the best of him, letting his imagination run wild regarding what kind of job and equipment was going to be needed, hoping this was not going to be his last task either. That pesimism would probably take a toll on him someday...

As he reached his destination, he saw he was the last arrival so far. Great, arguably late, that was going to be felt in his paycheck. "John Evans, reporting for duty." He said as he stood next to the team and saluted.

The faces one saw in the UNF never stopped surprising the young Evans. People of all races, sexes and even... Degrees of cybernetics, joining for one cause. Or perhaps, just like him, looking for a place to belong. Seeing the pile of files near his superior, John imagined the info about the machine he would pilot would be there. Considering he couldn't spend as much time at the hangar as he hoped, he wasn't up to date on the conditions of the vehicles and Valkinai, making this meeting slightly more important to him than ussual.
John had just finished his morning shower and was getting ready to leave his room to do his daily run around the ship. It ahs been a while since he joined the crew, but they still had not given him the data on any new unit he would need to test. Knowing the enemy liked surprise attacks, the only thing he could do was to be sure to keep up to date with the controls of any machine or vehicle in the ship, after all, piloting is all what he had left. "I really hope they are not trying anything weird again..." He sighed as he grabbed his clothes and put them on. "The last thing we need is something blowing up in the hangar..."

A couple minutes later, the young Evans was ready to start his daily routine. First jogging, then checking on the mechanics for any updates regarding his job or tweaks to the existing equipment. Just another normal day on the Terra, at least for now.
Bringing a classic back

As for a Valk, to avoid problems that might have sprouted in a difrrent universe *coughs* I will let the UNF give him one instead of me making one.
