Those people who actually post their status in status updates are a part of a very small minority. One that I'm not a part of.

People get upset about you killing a fly nowadays...

Well, like, it’s different. Flies aren’t people. Some people might have even known some of the people who were wiped out. I’m not here to say if it was a right or wrong decision, but of course people are going to get upset over death.

Woudl you rather a plague be passed on to the majority population and kill over an estimated 3rd of your oppulation?? Or glass a dwarf planet with only 500,000 organisms?

I’m not saying it’s objectively a bad call, dude. I’m just saying I can see how people would get upset.

Politicians that were pro-weapons control. They had a massive following of citizens behind them. A lot of people were burned by the horrors of war and atrocities caused by both sides. I'll admit... I made some difficult choices. Blew up an inhabited but too-far-gone planet or two in the interest of the general public. They... didn't like that.

I could see why, to be honest with you.

In some ways, they're leagues ahead of most civilizations. In some areas? Barely better than cavemen. We had a lot better wartime tech, but after the Crimson War, most of it was banned under a protection treaty. They reverted nearly 100 years in tech simply becuase a bunch of bureaucrats got upset. It was idiotic. If I didn't side with the opposition, there were threats made of attacks on the home base. Put me in a bind.

“Side with the opposition”?

I just dont feel my peoples are... developed enough to understand that level of 'nonsense'. To them, you'd sound crazy. I tried giving my nominated next-in-line my memories of the Tier Five and Nobles, and they tried to run away screaming bloody murder. They couldn't handle it, so I extracted the memories. Could you imagine what level of carnage that would reap with an underdeveloped people? They barely just invented anti-ballistic spaceships.

Oh, wow. I didn’t know they were that far behind… No offense, of course.

That's just life as a politician. Its brutal. Truth is, it's as easy as barking a command. The problem is, that one command changes countless lives, for better or worse. Someone's always a victim and someone's always a villain. You help one and damn another with every single decision. It's impossible to balance. That, and as acting president, I have all current knowledge of existence-wide phenomenon, such as the Tier Five and others that the general public doesn't have access to. If they did, They'd lose their minds....

Sounds like a way different life. In the IA, people generally know most of the things that exist, but they’re a lot like urban legends that they never actually see any direct impact from. Like, okay, Tier Five exists, but what impact does that have on the local bakery owner? Info like that really doesn’t matter much to almost everyone.

As a public official, I was granted two nominations, which aren't exactly votes, but carry a similar weight. I nominated my vice president and one of my top generals. Both are capable of leading, one with an iron fist and another with compassion. Either way, they're both in for a shock when they get the position.

Sounds like things need to change if it’s that miserable, man.

Oh, hell no. I'm retiring. There's an election taking place in a couple weeks... the voted candidate will take my spot, and I'll be free of my chains somewhat. I'll still give guiding words and a path to follow.. but I'm done with being the face of something that isn't what I wanted. No mater how hard you try to change things... people follow faces. They follow words. They don't care about laws and wellbeing, just give them an image to believe in. They'll eat it up like candy. That person could ruin their lives and they'd thank them. Might even kiss their boots. Its despicable.

Are there any candidates you support?

My reputation is for a lack of better terms 'acceptable'. People don't see me as a despot, but they sure voice their opinions consistently. I'm no savior, I can't save everyone like I thought I could. I hurt more people than I would have liked, and wrecked a lot of progress. But we still move on, day after day. The things I've done... would haunt most people.

Heavy. Don’t suppose that bodes well for another term in office?

A large government entity not liking someone? Shocker. Still better than being a politician. It's a poor career choice, speaking from experience.

I imagine your reputation is always under attack. Justified or not.
