Interested as well! I like the idea of a competitive "co-op" RP. Being all Dark Elves, but also having competition between Houses sounds good to me.
Captain Lannes stood at attention at the Port City of Caux in the province of Attolia. It was the main port that serviced the Capital, which was a bit more inland. He himself was a Captain of the 2nd Guard, typically held in reserve in Attolia and assigned the protection of key people and cities. Rarely did the Imperial Guard of Attolia march to fight. Nay, they were the final line, the Triarii. When other soldiers would break and flee, they would hold the line and rally the men. However, during peace, they were often seen protecting government officials and diplomats. Today, he was tasked with greeting an envoy of the Empire of Rubrus and escorting them. It appeared that they were going to discuss a trade agreement and begin sending scholars to learn from each other, which Attolia had no problem with. Such cooperation helped to encourage peace.

It was oddly peaceful in the City... but it was really a false alarm. Many of the soldiers were mobilizing and getting ready to march south to join the Crusade against the Dashkatar. Thus, when you would usually see numerous patrols everywhere throughout the city... things seemed empty and peaceful in the city. Although, just a few days ago, the city was filled with patriotic fervor as a festival took place to encourage the men who were marching off to fight in the crusade. The flag of Attolia now flew around every corner of the city as the Empire also welcomed immigrants, refugees and natives with open arms as new brothers and sisters. The local governments of settlements seemed to take the responsibility of settling these newcomers and making sure that they were getting accustomed to the area, culture and the language.

This seemed especially so in the Attolian colonies where full citizenship was offered to those who settled and took up the Attolian language in the cities. Without a doubt, they would quickly find jobs in the revitalized Attolian economy. The numerous economy reforms and ventures that Emperor Lothair the Second had taken were outstanding successes as a daunting deficit was quickly corrected within a year. In fact, many began to call Emperor Lothair II, the Wise. His administrative capabilities were outstanding. Finally, in the distance, the Captain saw a ragged ship, which flew the flag of Rubrus. The Rubrus were not a sea-faring people, which explained the state of the ship, but regardless the Empress was a beacon of progress and enlightenment in these times, much like Lothair. Both Imperial Majesties were bringing progress to their nations and people. They could accomplish and learn much from each other.

The ship would finally dock, and the Captain barked his orders to the honor guard. They stood at guard, and as the delegates disembarked, the Captain walked up to introduce himself as a new friend to the people of Rubrus.
Caelis scratched his head as he watched the herd in the distance. It appeared that they would graze here for a while before moving on. After all, this was a substantial oasis. For now, the Attolians drew water from the streams that fed into the oasis so that they wouldn't have to drink the muddied water. Personally, he was tempted to follow the streams as it would likely lead to a larger source of water and more fertile grounds where there was plenty of vegetation. But, they were a steppe people and the allure of the herd was a bit too strong to ignore... thus Caelis thought what if they could try to tame and then domesticate some of the aurochs?

Particularly, the wood elves among them would just stay somewhat near the herd and just wait for some of the more friendly and curious aurouchs to approach them. They would then give the aurouch little treats to befriend them. This place provided an opportune time to forage a bit as well after all since there was a lot of water available in the region. The wood elves always seemed to have a magical touch with animals, and this instance would be helpful to help tame some of the beasts... then they could take the friendly aurochs and then breed them to slowly domesticate them into a more friendly breed.

In regards to the boar spirit that they had seen before, Caelis gathered some of the more magically inclined of them and joined them in a quick journey to the west. They would take the horses in the event that it was a long journey.

---

Summary:

Event: Caelis takes some of the more magically inclined Folk Elves with him and they ride to the west with the horses that they have to find the boar spirit.

Action: Improve Food/Resource. The rest of the camp works on trying to improve their food situation through two ways. One is the forage the near by lands near the oasis and the streams to gather whatever food they can. Two is to have some of the more animal "attuned" elves among them to interact with the more friendly and curious aurochs among the herd and attempt to befriend/tame them by feeding them treats, speaking with them and perhaps playing with them.
The Empire of Attolia

The Attolian War Council sat around the grand map of Europe. Miniatures sat all around the map, signifying various armies that were known to be stationed in those regions. However, once thing was very clear in the mess that was Europe. The borders of the nations were changing, swiftly. While the Empire of Attolia had declared war upon the heathens of Dashkatar, there was currently little that the Empire could do. Sescos was far, and the bulk of the Empire's fleet was heading to the Orient. The only solution was to march, but that was in itself a problem as they would have to cross numerous borders and battlefield to reach Sescos. Attolia had to find a way to bring peace to Europe so that they could march upon the Dashkatar.

However, the situation could not be worse. All their neighbors were embroiled in war within the continent. The Ubren marched north to Aontas... but were bogged down by the brutal winter. Redcliff just went through more military disasters as the HTE took the province of Salid without a single shot and reports also came of how the Redcliff Empire's armies were shattered in the east as well. Now, more nations were joining the coalition against Redcliff. In addition, the Redcliff colonies were going through an even worse rebellion as a certain... party likely armed the rebels in a move that Lothair believed would come to bite its mastermind's arse in the future. It was never wise to arm radical religious militants. In fact, Attolia issued a statement, denouncing such actions and reprimanded whoever armed the rebels.

Lothair II shook his head in disbelief. "How bull headed does an Emperor have to be to lose virtually every battle in a year? Military losses, administrative losses, diplomatic disaster... I fear for the citizens of Redcliff." General Rehn replied "Aye... it is not too surprising now that our open borders are inviting mostly Redcliff refugees." Lothair II replied "Redcliff has failed its own people. Would anyone expect its people to remain loyal to the state when there are disasters occurring everywhere? Even worse, they could have all been avoided."

General Rehn replied "My Majesty... why did you not agree to join the coalition? Our men could be marching into those lands and securing the safety of the people?" Lothair II replied "That is not for us to decide for the people. If people wish to leave Redcliff, then they must do so on their own volition. I will not subvert the authority of Redcliff through force, but it appears that many others are not above such reprehensible actions." The General nodded. Attolia would continue to be the voice of reason and sensibility in this time of strife and conflict.

Lothair II continued to speak "We will not take any military action yet... but know that we will march in aid of the Sescosi soon. I am in the midst of securing safe passage to the south for our armies and have sent diplomats and emissaries. Continue to monitor the situation. We will soon be marching in our Crusade against the Dashkatar. I must now head to my meeting with a recently arrived group of village elders from war torn provinces around Europe. They will soon be proud, hard working Attolians living peacefully in Attolian lands with grand children speaking Attolian."
Attolia

Lord Caelis Attolis... or so people began to call him. He was no noble, but as time passed it seemed that people looked up to him for guidance and respected his thoughts. Thus, Lord Caelis "of Attolia" he came to be called. His parents were among the first settlers of the lands and in his lifetime, the steppe elves had come to grow accustomed to the harsh nature of these lands. Yet, that did not mean the lands were completely safe. The Attolians always had to be alert and looking out for opportunities. Which is why Caelis gathered some of the best hunters and trackers of the settlement.

The plan was somewhat straightforward. The hunters would go out and attempt to find a large herd. Once found, the herd would be carefully followed. After all, this herd would have to find its way to a major water source to sustain itself. Then the settlement would relocate to this water source and have access to a substantial herd of animals. They would have to start securing more food and water for the growing settlement after all. This would ideally tackle both issues with one stone.

Thus, while the hunters went out to stalk out a large herd, the rest of the settlement would attempt to contact the spirits of the steppes and plains to seek their guidance, blessing, and help.

Attolia

The Attolians are Folk Elves who live in the steppes and deserts of their homelands. Originally, the Attolians were a group of High Elves who had ideological differences from their main community. Many took the position that certain magics were "dark" magic and forbidden to practice, such as blood magic. However, the original Attolians believed that magic was a neutral power that was good or evil depending on the intent of its wielder for even blood magic could be used to heal the most serious of wounds and be used to help. Thus, to maintain their freedom to study magic and practice it, the Attolians left and began to search for a new land where there was no one to bother or disturb. They eventually arrived at the largely barren steppes where they settled and called it "Attolia", The Land of Wisdom.

They set up a small settlement and lived off the sparse animals and vegetation. However, it seemed that word somehow spread and Attolia eventually became a bit of a mythological place where the outcasts and oddities of society could find refuge and a place to live freely. Small groups of other elves found their way to Attolia, and with them they brought their skills, supplies, and knowledge. They proved to be valuable in the harsh steppe lands as they brought horses, animal husbandry, herbalism, and other precious skills that helped the High Elves survive.

Now, as the settlement grows... it soon becomes obvious that they can no longer just stay secluded in the steppes.

For color, I picked Light Blue.
A short proclamation was issued by the Heralds of the Empire of Attolia to the Leaders of Europe. Seeing it's brevity and concise nature, the message told any literate that the Empire was now busy mustering its forces rather than taking the time to write a flowery declaration. It read:

"In response to the continued Dashkatar aggression against the Kingdom of Sescos, the Empire of Attolia formally declares war upon the Dashkatar invaders in accordance with the recent agreements of the Summit. May God bring a swift end to this conflict."

The honor bound soldiers of Attolia began to march.
"To His Holiness,

Blessing upon you on the eve of the new century. It is my full intention that all participants of this expedition are paid generously for taking on this righteous cause as part of the reparations that we seek. May their false golden idols made of greed and avarice fall and be melted to pay for our efforts. May the new century bring in great news of victory."
The Empire of Attolia

The European Fleet of the Imperial Attolian Navy set off from their ports, heading to the Far East to meet up with the Admiral in Jinje then head to the Shuren Dynasty to demand reparations or face punitive actions in the form of coastal raiding and privateering. Shuren ports would be bombarded if the Shuren Dynasty did not comply. All in, the fleet composed of 22 Ships of the Line, a rather formidable fleet. The fleet would be joined by ships of the Ionian, arguably the masters of the Atlantic and perhaps others who have yet to answer the call to arms. The Shuren Dynasty was rumored to be massive, but would it be able to fight against a coalition of some of the premier powers of Europe?

Regardless, the matters of the Empire still had to be addressed. For long, the imperial budget had been improperly managed, but now the deficit was almost completely eliminated. In order to further develop the Attolian economy, the Emperor sought to establish the Attolian Stock Exchange. This stock exchange was hoped to allow private enterprise to prosper and encourage business in the Empire and the continent as a whole by drawing in investments to help fund Attolian business ventures.

Or so the Emperor said in his public speech, addressing the coming end of the year. However, in this same address, Lothair II also stated something else "However, as the Empire finds wealth and prosperity, we must not forget our fellow brothers of the faith. Many unfortunate souls find themselves in the midst of musket shots, religious persecution, economic instability, and belligerent politicians. It is for this reason, that the Empire of Attolia will open its doors to allow refugees to enter the lands. It is my hope and desire that we help these poor souls find new, peaceful, productive lives here. We are the bastion of the faith. The College of the Herd rests in Attolian lands for good reason for we provide for our own. Let us never forget that. Thus, my message to the hopeless, the downtrodden, the fearful, come brothers for my doors will always be open to you."
The Empire of Attolia

Cannons shattered the silence of the morning as word had arrived in regards to the fate of the Eastern Expedition. A gun salute to the fallen sailors and marines who exploring and braving the unknown world. The ceremony was sullen, but quickly over as Lothair II and his officers presented a unit citation to the Eastern Expedition for their service and sacrifice to the Empire. As soon as the ceremony was over, the men found themselves at the war room. Looking over the map of the far east, Lothair curtly asked "How goes our recruitment efforts for the Colonial Legion?" One of the aides replied "The recruitment drive is in effect, but we have yet to hear of the results." Lothair nodded. However, even if they did raise a decent sized army in the overseas colonies, they still needed a substantial fleet if they were to go to war. Creating a fleet took time and money... things that were always lacking no matter who you were. Although they were being addressed as the administration attempted to conduct an internal audit on expenditures and further economic and industrial initiatives were being taken. Yet, they needed decisive action to address this perfidious action from this so called Shuren Dynasty.

Thus, Lothar began to write a public letter, addressed to the Papacy and the leaders who follow the teachings of the Almighty

"Dearest Child of the Father,

Woe befalls the continent as brothers find themselves at the point of each other's muskets. Even our misguided brothers of the book to the east have taken action to stir discontent in the continent. However, it brings sorrow to my heart to report that thousands of the Father's faithful have perished by the hands of savages to the far east in a maleficent act of perfidy. Thousands of Attolian sailors and marines had been travelling around the Far East, meeting the unknown peoples, opening peaceful trade, and spreading the word of the Father. Yet, when they were invited by the so called Shuren Dynasty to speak with their leaders, the vile savages attacked the men as they disembarked from their ships. It was by the Father's mercy and pity that several managed to survive and send word back to the Empire of Attolia.

This treachery is a sin against the father and against mankind itself. It is hard to believe that these people of Shuren call themselves human when their integrity is scant better than that of the Beast! It is for this reason that the Empire of Attolia asks its fellow brothers of the cloth. Will you join us in a punitive expedition against the Shuren? They must pay and be taught the values of what it means to be human, a child of the Father. I seek a mighty naval expedition that will force them to open their hearts and minds to the Father. May they not be so fallen to the point where they are not redeemable... for beasts have no place in the world of man.

Emperor Lothair II"

It appeared that Lothair planned to declare war... nay civilize the beast of the Far East. War was a matter of man and nation. The Shuren Dynasty had to be tamed or put down. Such was the intention of Lothair II.
