I mean, I can always introduce a new character to come liven it up

Preferably someone who wants to give her free armor that somehow fits her and wakes her up/heals her. Preferably.

Edit: I do have a character I can say creates Evvie her armor using alchemy powers as a reward due to Evvie winning a riddle against her to the surprise of everyone. Evvie was too dumb to trick with the trick question. However, this character is not a character here so I'd need another explanation unless I add her as a minor character.

Edit: Are djinn's naturally trivia buffs are was that just a quality of the djinn character that was in the multiverse a while back? If it was just a quality of that character I'd like to steal that idea...with permission, of course. It's the most fitting way for Evvie to get armor for free from this alchemist character.
Maybe I'll separate magic into categories.

By the way, available characters are not limited to those trying to escape. You can be brainwashed or otherwise to side with your captives to thwart the escapees or be a guard or scientist who interacts with magic users. I suppose you can have some higher up guy but they are mostly in the shadows so shouldn't be your main character unless they go undercover to interact with us more.

The age groups of the magic users can be adult or younger. Old people's bodies cannot handle the stress unless, perhaps, they've been living with the microorganism their entire life and have build up their compatibility with it to a really high level. There will be two ways to get the microorganism; the first is to surgically insert it at any age or the second is to have it passed down from birth. The second option offers the best chance at a high compatibility and many years honing it even further, so is the new preferred method unless they find a highly compatible person that they wish to "hire" into their services. To find compatibility, their body reacts to the organisms swabbed onto their skin like hives. Most of the people given it at birth are around early twenties or younger. That method started only around 30 years ago but wasn't perfected yet so few of them survived into their old age. The early twenties are the first of the experiments to survive that long...that we know of.
Looks like the Sortiarius area is dead. Evvie shall remain unconscious there forever.
(Disclaimer: This is heavily inspired by an ongoing anime/manga called Gokukoku no Brynhildr. However, it will not be exactly the same to avoid spoilers, so you don't have to watch some show just to understand this roleplay, to get our own characters and plot, and to have some additional creative freedom on certain aspects that I'd like to have different for this roleplay. If you loved the show than this roleplay should still fit right in with the aspects you loved about it, or at least that's the goal)

(P.S. Oh, and I threw in some Darker than Black similarities as well)

Science has done it at last. They've discovered magic. However, it's not all fairies and rainbows with magic users swooping in to save the day and cure world hunger. Far from it. Magic came about through brutal testing on human subjects and the infusion of certain microorganisms into the brain that are kept top secret by the organization that discovered it. It took a lot of work just to stop these organisms from outright eating the humans alive once inserted, and even with advanced technology, all they can do to keep them at bay is through medication, 1 pill a day before they start going rampant and causing pain/other bodily harm, and in 3 days the person will have died. And this is just if you let them loose to their own devices. As a safety measure (for the people in charge, not those infused with these microorganisms), there's a device attached somewhere on their body that can stimulate these organisms to replicate at a frightening speed, killing the person in only 10 seconds by destroying their brain.

The magic users are, essentially, guinea pigs being held in captivity and only released under special circumstances. The end goal of this is unknown to almost everyone besides the select few of the highest up at the organization. Most of the magic users are kept from rebelling by the threat of remotely setting off their 10 second death, keeping them contained in a process unique to the individual, psychologically breaking them down, or brainwashing through magic or other chemicals if all else fails. If they somehow got free then they could potentially destroy all of humanity. At least those are the fears expressed by members of the organization who goes through great lengths to keep them all locked up as much as possible. Obviously these safety measures won't last forever. The plot will begin with our characters attempting the first escape in a long while by using teamwork to cover for each others weaknesses that the organization is trying to exploit to keep everyone contained. They also have to find a way to avoid the remote 10 second death to even start to have a chance.

If you are curious about the magic itself, it's called "gifts". The microorganisms in your body can stimulate it to achieve a certain type of magic, although what kind is dependent on which exact variation of the microorganism is inside you, which is getting more and more variations in time through testing and/or each person's unique body can alter the microorganism in some way. Multiple variations at once can be inserted but most test subjects are killed by too much stress placed on their body as a result, so most people only have one type of variation. It can be anything your mind can come up with as long as it doesn't break the plot. Even the strongest of magic users is still able to be contained and defeated somehow, and we won't be the strongest to start. For every "gift" there is a "curse" that comes with it. The curse is a drawback of your magic that keeps you from just using it nonchalantly. Just like how many variations of magic there are, each person's curse can be unique to them. It can be an energy cost, blinds them, cripples them, makes then cut themselves or paint artwork to recharge the magic in between uses, whatever. Anything that will limit their magic use or make them have pros or cons to using it. Whatever it is it shouldn't be enjoyable such as eating an ice-cream cone (unless your character hates ice-cream or is worried about the calories or something). The microorganisms might be able to evolve at a later point to power up the characters or something.

Any questions or suggestions are welcome. This roleplay will be advanced or high casual.
Oabre eyed the cocky "little" man, calmly but sternly, in the face of his taunt. How could he hope to defeat a master such as herself with such a clouded mind? In all honesty he was doing a decent enough job negating her force push, but he'd have to do a lot better than that to overcome her. His actions certainly didn't warrant such a comment, at least in her mind, if it was ever warranted at all, especially because she wasn't yet fighting at full strength. Her feet slowly slid forward, one in front of the other, as she pushed him back to make it easier on herself to keep her attack flowing onto him as well as allowing her to exit the room so that the security doors could not lock her inside again should he change his mind about her release.

Once she was outside of the room and into the long hallway she tried a different technique. She gripped onto all of the damaged droid parts by way of the force, the graveyard of slain droids he was slowly being forced (pun intended) into the center of, and then in a blink of an eye sent them all speeding his way on all sides of him. The parts were not heavy enough to be fatal even if sent crashing into him at high speeds, but at the very least it would sting, should they hit him. At best she hoped it would distract him and knock him around a bit, throwing him off guard so that her force push could do it's job of sending him flying uncontrollably backwards to crash onto the ground behind him or perhaps all the way into the far wall if he somehow managed to keep his feet the entire rest of the distance that was. Either way he'd be in trouble at that point. There was a possibility that someone of his caliber might be able to stop the droid parts and her push at the same time, but it took a master such as herself to devote herself to putting this much power into both tasks. She didn't know how he'd be able to fair doing the same thing, but it was unlikely that he could keep up with it as well as she. At least in theory that should be the case.

As planned the force allowed Nima to stay one step ahead of his opponent, at least for now. She saw the gun he reached for, realizing that she'd have to start dodging the first chance that she got or else she'd be in for a world of hurt. Dodge once and then attack; that was her plan. She was still in pretty close proximity so she could get in a lightsaber swing pretty soon after the dodge, unless said dodge were to force her even further away from her target. She couldn't afford that, though. She had to keep the pressure on him as much as possible. She hated dancing around just to give someone else target practice on her.

As soon as her feet touched the ground she was already getting into her dodge maneuver, allowing her body to fall downward and to the right into a controlled roll. His first shot grazed her left arm as before she could get all the way out of harms way, causing her to let out a pained hiss from between her teeth and a slight spray of blood from the wound, but otherwise she was okay. She could handle much more than that! Bring it on! She didn't want to focus on the pain so rather psyched herself out to get revenge and take down this guy before he could score another hit.

As she rolled she kept her lightsaber pointed out in his direction, so from his perspective she would be like a cartwheel of colorful rotating blades. This wasn't an attack, exactly, just so that she wouldn't be cleaving up the floor if she held the blades in any other way.

She stopped her roll quickly as soon as her feet were beneath her in her roll, and just as quickly lunged back to the left enough to throw off his aim, which was following her where she would have been rolling to. The bullet clanged harmlessly off of the metal ground near her feet, releasing sparks. As her feet touched the ground from the brisk lunging maneuver she did one more lunge, this time straight at her him right saber jousting his way and left doing a small sweep, stretching forward to try and cleave his gun in two before he could get off another shot.
I'm back...

...but only two posts since I've been gone? And a lot of skipped turns the time before. *urk*

Not a good sign for this roleplay surviving. It's definitely a lot harder to pull off than I thought. This might have to be declared dead unless there's enough strong opposition to this.
I'm back and the wifi is up, so I shouldn't have any further difficulties getting access for the foreseeable future. I do have other stuff to do and have inspiration to start playing more guitar, being more athletic, starting up my own novel, etc. Basically turning over a new leaf rather then cooped up on my computer all the time on free days. Well, I do have a lot of anime watching to catch up on so I'll be cooped up for a while, but you get the idea.

That being said I'll likely just leave myself with Evvie, who I have the most fun roleplaying with, and kind of fade out the others, who I've lost interest in using in this roleplay over the break.

If I missed anything important, please let me know. I'm not reading up on the OOC all those days.
I got most of the major moving stuff done and have wifi now, but am still likely too busy to put any focus on here, especially with all the catching up I have to do on other stuff.

So just continue what you're done as long as you'd like and have fun. Or you guys can even take this idea and run with it to try and become the leader of the roleplay and recruit people, or even create an entirely new roleplay but based on this, or whatever else you feel like.
Roleplaying has caused me to have the most bizarre search history ever such as asking about the amount of force a gorilla can punch and numerous weapon questions. If police ever search my computer they will be so confused.

I won't have wifi for another half a week or so after today after going from the hotel to the house that will be getting the furniture in but not the wifi yet. Looks like my characters aren't actually being effected that much because it seems inactive in the ICs.
Okay. I think it will be like 4 days or something and then I'll have a ton of computer stuff to do such as resume submitting, but once all that is done I'll get straight to this. Even before my anime binge watching to catch up on the week of absence.
