Ryomi Fiett Leitannia vs. Bloodshot (Match 1)
********************

His grip was firmly placed around her ankle, but it was time to see how long that would last once she started unleashing more attacks on him. She started things off by raising her right leg above the height of the staff, able to not fall over because she was floating, and then quickly front kicked towards his face while he was still in the reaching down position. Blunt force trauma to a head, even if helmeted, was sure to hurt. Of course it would hurt her leg at the same time, plus causing pain shooting through her body yet again by the movement of her damaged ribs. Hopefully this attack would prove worth it. She didn't have time to charge up any powerful magic before she would be swung into the roof.

Cellinli Lienfeld vs. Niks (Match 1)
********************

"Alright. I'll do just that," she lied, continuing her approach. Once she got within range she wordlessly carried out her plan to slash at his neck with her right weapon. Without waiting for the results she planned on leaping backwards and retreating to around 10 feet, all the while keeping her eye on the darkness, to make sure he didn't rush out and take her off guard in a counterattack should he still be alive.

Evvie vs. Aurelia (Match 1)
********************

Seeing magic being charged up she had no choice but to dodge it by closing her wings, allowing her to drop below the spikes and land heavily on the ground with her feet. At least she had covered some of the distance between the two, so she'd just have to try and cover the rest of the way on foot before the young woman could charge up any more powerful magic to be used against her.

With that plan in mind she rushed forward yet again. If she got within range she would try and use her hands to deal with the scythe while kicking at her body with her right leg.
"Maybe Kira is one of us. Scaaarrry..." W remarked, wagging her fingers around in a "spooky" manner as if she was telling ghost stories by the campfire. She placed her feet on the desk and leaned back in her chair in order to find a more comfortable position while she spoke.

"On a serious note, information about the Kira case was highly confidential and extraordinarily well secured. Only those of our advanced intellect...in some of our cases, would have any sort of chance carrying out such a conspiracy, outside of key members of the Japanese police force. I believe that's the more important issue at hand, not the obvious facts about the murders, which I could have deduced in my sleep."

She almost fell backwards, but caught herself just in time, playing it off like it never happened.

"If they're intelligent enough to have indeed pulled that off, it was awfully stupid of them to get found out so soon unless they wanted to have a gathering of the best and the brightest to investigate. And if they wanted a gathering, their goal would more than likely be none other than killing us all off while we're out in the open so they wouldn't have to worry about us sneaking around later on. If that's the case, that would also point to Kira being one or us of the Japanese police, keeping a sharp eye on the situation at hand."

She let out a bright smile.

"Kira, raise your hand and get things over with. Otherwise we're going to have to play a game, and I'm not always kind to my losers," she taunted, carefully watching the expressions on everyone's faces.

H, meanwhile, just sat there staring at the girl, not really knowing how to continue after that little speech of hers. It did make some sense, although the theatrics were a tad bit excessive. Plus it was a little early to be jumping to conclusion about Kira being among them. By the look on W's face it seemed like she was almost sure of herself.

"Umm...pardon me, but let's not jump to any conclusions," H spoke up at last. "For Kira to show up here right now would be a huge risk, one we're not yet sure if he or she would be willing to take so soon. We should keep that in mind, but not start making accusations of the sort until we have further reason to believe so."

W let out a playful sounding "hmph" as she landed all four legs of her seat back on the ground, clearly not very swayed by H's argument.
I don't see why there can't be two Ls, perhaps to confuse kira which is the real one? Of course it's painfully obvious to our characters this L couldn't be the previous one, but other people wouldn't know who's who.

I'm assuming our character letters are just fake and don't hold any real meaning.

As for Near taking the letter L, it was as you say part of keeping L's death a secret, but I truly don't know for sure if you automatically get the "rank" of L or if he just took the letter only for that reason. I thought it was a rank.
I wonder what that Ryuk was thinking to give him a death eraser. I won't even call him Ryuk. That one shall be called...Pyuk.

Maybe the real L (Near) is investigating another Kira some other place?

The 23 days was for diseases, I believe. That thing about erasing doesn't make sense...

After it says all the information it adds on "But", going on to say the death note can only operate within 23 days, which seems to imply that there isn't exceptions to that 23 day thing as far as the death note is concerned. It the 23 day rules strictly applies to disease it could have been phrased much better to say "any disease can go as far as 23 days", not saying "The death note can only go 23 days". Of course it could just be a poor English translation, but it makes sense that way over allowing someone to become immortal by writing their death at any time it's convenient. If that was possible you would think any number of the characters, especially Light, would have thought of that.

To further prove the point, in synopsis of a movie that I found dealing with writing your name in the Death Note it indeed says that L writes "L Lawliet will die 23 days from this date". He obviously was under the impression that the 23 day rule works for everything or else he would have almost certainly not killed himself off at that time. Not that I'm using movies as canon for the manga, but that seems to imply how it would work for the manga as well in this instance if L had actually done that.

The death eraser was before the rules were all thought up when it was just a concept, so it made sense at the time even if it was a lame idea that is good it was changed.

Ok, I'mma solve the N problem right now. He got bored with detective work and used his keen intellect to become the CEO of a the world's largest toy company and has never been happier since. lol.

I'll go with that too. Or we can say he did write his name in the Death Note and offed himself that way some time after the manga ended.

Well, we know that 10 years later, N/newL would most likely be alive. At least he was alive 1 year after the event, when we see him talking about one of the people who had the Death Note but said he wouldn't take up the case because it wasn't worth it, and eventually the guy ended up dying. The point is, when 'L', the currently 10 year old girl was born, N was still alive and had picked up the title L (since the first L's death was never officially announced, I believe). The possible successors from the orphanage were all given different letters so naming one L is just plain weird. I don't think that their names actually change at one point and having the name 'L' probably doesn't automatically make you the successor, as seen in N and M's cases. If it did, that would mean they would have decided she would become the successor the day she was brought to the orphanage or perhaps the day she was born, since she apparently already has a reputation for being a great detective and was probably in the orphanage for quite some time. It's absurd to have 2 Ls at the same time and have one of them be the successor of the other while the letter doesn't really carry any meaning.

When did N write his name in the Death Note? Certainly not during the events of the manga. N still being alive for the fake Kira was part of the manga where he didn't write his name in the death note, so in that canon he would be alive still for that very reason. If there's a canon (from a book or something?) where he did write his name in the death note it's not part of the manga, so him still being alive (or death in 23 days if he did write his name in the death note) in that canon doesn't really matter for the events of the manga. For the revival plot, are you speaking of the Death Eraser? That was part of the original concept used in the manga's pilot. That idea was excluded in the official manga.

Not saying for sure that we can't use stuff from non-canon parts of the death note series (or if other things are canon then that's fine too), but I'm just basing things off of the manga for this roleplay at the moment.

As for the naming scheme of the orphanage, I'm under the impression that our characters didn't have any part in it, although some may or may not have as a personal preference. The orphanage was to see who would become L, while all we are is detectives working together. Thus we don't need to care about the naming scheme of the orphanage.

No... in the last chapter, after Light's death, he's known as L.And we know N isn't dead because he did a trick where he set a certain date of death for himself so Kira couldn't kill him with the notebook.

The rules seem to be that the maximum length of time you could have as a result of writing your name in the death note is 23 days. If the death would take 24 days or longer they just die in the normal heart attack in 6 minutes 40 seconds instead. Therefore, all you're doing with that plan is buying yourself time to not get killed by the death note immediately. If the death note worked forever you could become practically immortal by saying you die at whatever age you prefer.
A good enough opening was made for Layte when the one with the axe was knocked down and the rest already seemed to have found a target other than her, two of them in particular ganging up on one guy. That wasn't really good sportsmanship on their part, even if the guy did kind of deserve it for rushing out in front. She had wanted to do the same thing as him, but not without making sure that they would have the proper support of everyone else moving forward. As it appeared at the moment there were still members of the group hanging back rather than attacking all at once. That didn't seem like a good idea to her, especially if some of their allies died because of it. Unless, of course, their deaths could be used to the advantage of the group. She didn't believe that to be the case right now, even if the guy she would now attempt to save did appear a little dense.

She rushed out from the group that was hanging back, maneuvering towards the backside of the sword user who was the most immediate threat outside of the other armored enemy a little bit further away. The elf in that battle would just have to make due with his one on one fight until this other battle could conclude. If the swordsman didn't turn his attention to her before she managed to close the distance then she would reach out from behind and tear into his putrid, fragile looking neck with both clawed hands. Judging by the effects of meat boy's attack from earlier these guys could indeed be damaged, and if struggling to breath from just that attack, imagine having his throat ripped out.

If he did turn his attention to her then she would hold back, staying just out of range using her high mobility to keep his attention and perhaps draw him back to the rest of the group while the foolish one she was helping could aid her in fighting that guy or fight the dagger user one on one, at least until the axe guy recovered. She didn't yet know who he would now choose to attack, but she'd have to keep her eye on him as well just in case he went for her.
I say no posting order is needed. If someone wants someone else to do something first so they could move that is better then being stuck going first not matter what. For example, me wanting to charge in but needed to see about support first.

If you guys are feeling like Finn is dumb, I should have come in with Evvie.

I'll get working on my post after dinner.
W didn't want to come too earlier and end up bored, so she purposely arrived at the building just a tad bit late, dressed almost as if she had just come back from some sort of cosplay convention, which is not all that unlikely given her proud self proclaimed status of being an Otaku despite hailing from the United States. She was in a fancy red and black Victorian styled dress of high quality, complete with a corset, either genuine or painstakingly recreated. In her right hand was an umbrella of the same color scheme and style, only for appearance purposes, twirling absentmindedly in her right hand, which was gloved in fancy white lace. Her black heels clicked and clacked as she waltzed nonchalantly past the police woman as if she owned the place, flashing her an ID as she did so.

At the same time, behind her rushed in H, a dark skinned woman with a much more serious aura about her. She was as equally dressed up as the younger girl but in a far more professional way; a black business suit with a fancy white button down shirt underneath, a red tie, and black dress shoes. She hated being late, giving off the appearing of laziness or an uncaring attitude. Being from London she was at the mercy of her plain flight and the long traffic over here, and unfortunately unexpected delays had cost her. She was, admittedly, not the luckiest of individuals, which could be problematic given her line of work. On the bright side she always managed to pull through on her wits, skill, and determination where luck failed her, as with the case now to allow her to make it as soon as she had. Her long ponytail was disheveled and sweat glistened from her brow, making it evident that she had run at least some of the way, likely for miles, to avoid the heavy traffic of Tokyo. She was certainly in very good shape, breathing only a tad more heavy than normal.

After H gave a brief polite exchange of dialogue with the police woman she was able to catch up swiftly to the high heeled wearing girl in front of her. She was able to glance clearly over her shoulder, being much taller than her, to see from the ID that she was indeed one of the detectives also on the Kira case. This was quite odd to say the least. It was not something that H had come across while working as a police officer in London. Sure they had their share of weird individuals, but none that got to work as a detective, especially in such a high profile case. She must be really smart for her age, in around mid teens if she had to guess.

W turned her head to briefly glance at the woman following her, as if just now noticing, although that was not very likely the case.

"S-sorry for staring," H stammered, shifting her attention elsewhere.

"I don't mind," W replied with a small smile. That was true. This girl was certainly an attention hog, no doubt about it.

The two didn't exchange any more dialogue before arriving at the meeting room, which was now mostly filled of seats. W had closed her umbrella to fit through the door, so slipped it into her pocket.

"I'm sorry I'm late," H said with a bow, spoken in perfect Japanese because such a statement was an important one to learn, just in case. When she went back into a standing position and surveyed the crowd it quickly became apparent that there were many more odd detectives around like that previous girl. Well, maybe not that odd, but some came close. Especially the youngest one, who she at first mistook as one of their daughters on some bring your daughter to work day until she saw the ID.

She noticed that like her, all of them simply had letters rather than names. That made sense, given the nature of the criminal they were up against.

Both W and H took their seats, waiting for the meeting to start. W got out a cherry lollipop and plopped it into her mouth, all the while eyes observing the others intently.
