This may be just from a medical standpoint, but when you are turned into stone, you are technically dead. No heartbeat, brain waves, pulse, breath, you would be stone to the core. Of course, once the effect wears off, you cease being 'dead' as your body is once again flesh and bone. But rocks aren't alive. They cannot change their form unless they are being broken into smaller rocks. Which would be really gross once the person changes back into the carbon based life they are.

And from a demonologist's standpoint, while demon's aren't really alive, that's because they are not of the material world, but rather, a physical manifestation of emotion/evil/energy, depends on what universe you're in. Point being, there really aren't stone demons that are, well, demon-y, because earth is part of the material world. You could make a movable object out of stone or mineral, hence golems, automatons, homunculi, but they can't really be considered demons, as they don't have any real will. And as Lucifer was banished from heaven for having free will, one can assume by default that his demonic spawn would also have such will.

All in all, golems, homunculi, automatons, robots, and gargoyles are not true demons or even living things, rather, they are man's reflection of himself in the material world, whereas the soul and ghost are his reflections in the spiritual.

But I am not a real doctor/demonologist/GM. So as it was previously said, Viridian must make their decision. I'm just putting in my two cents. Len out.

@ Spawnling Heh, thanks. I typically use much weaker powers with this character, usually when she's an antihero (being able to suck up poison and disease, and expel them as a toxic gas later) But of course, she'd get worn down from using her powers too much. And her powers are at their strongest only during certain times of the night, midnight, new moon, etc… I wanted to use a more powerful demon, but decided that since we have so many of those, I'd go for something smaller, and it was either an Amanojaku or Amakaze Babaa. Don't worry though, her minions will be weak, but strong enough to cause trouble. Like toilet demons.

Okay, I believe I have my character. Took me a while to find one, but I can always tweak this one accordingly. After all, it's not like the Wikipedia police are gonna come after me or something.

Yokai: Her pale skin becomes a deathly white, and her blue eyes become pale and clear. Black marks, almost like bruises, drift under her skin, disappearing and reappearing. Her skin is toxic to the touch, potent enough to wither away flesh and weaken stone.

Race: Amazake Babaa

Abilities: Spreading poisonous miasma, causing disease, and summoning lesser yokai. Also can use her miasma to "influence" the thoughts of others, but only when her miamsaic powers are at their strongest, essentially poisoning their thoughts and prompting insanity over long exposure.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Is very strong with air, as her powers are like poisonous gas. However, she is weak against fire and water, as they disperse these gases. Also very weak against purification techniques, like most full-blooded Yokai. Holy water and cedar leaves burn her skin, whereas sake heals them and replenishes her strength. Other items that help her are cigarettes, drugs, and other vectors of diseases.

Bio: A young Amazake Babaa, she only comes out at night, and summons her minions to do her work during the day. She vehemently despises half-yokai and humans, possibly out of envy, as she has never known the warmth of a lover's touch, or a kiss on her lips. Permanently a carrier of disease and poison, she devotes her time to wreaking havoc wherever she goes, and eliminating any half-breed that crosses her path.

Other: Displays of affection and friendship drive her into a venomous rage, and she becomes determined to quash them. She's also known as the Lover's Coffin-maker, and the Goddess of Plague.

Ragtag: Steampunk Treasure hunting!

Cool! I was thinking about a race called Murinae, who can take on the form of humans, with mouse like traits and features(i.e., tails, ears, claws, whiskers), but also revert to their mouse forms by will(enabling them to fit into small places, run faster, etc). I was kinda thinking my character could run/work in a shanty cabaret on the surface world, and it could maybe serve as a hub or inn or the ilk. And because she's a Murinae, no one expects her to be a gun-slinging badass perfectly capable of throwing a hardened thug out on his ass for starting fights or harassing the girls. (We run a respectable song and dance strip show here, bud, if you want hookers go see the place down the block)

I just thought that kinda character would be pretty interesting, and since they're all mice who are regarded as too weak to even other with, they'd be ignored through the grand historical wars and struggles of elves and dwarves and men, and in turn would ignore the politics around them.

Personality: Yuen is a very quiet person, and there's a good reason for that. He's mute! However, his personality is anything but quiet- He uses hand gestures and facial expressions to communicate, and is very skilled at writing. He hates being teased, and is easily embarrassed. However, he can also be very kind and understanding, and is secretly shy around girls, unable to talk to them and stuff. Holland tries to help him out, however, it's not always clear whether he's actually trying to aid the poor boy, or tease him for his own amusement.

History: Yuen's parents were important figures in his home village, far to the south east. His mother was a monster hunter, and his father an Earthmate and chief. A cautious child by nature, Yuen was only ten years old when his friends dragged him along to a forbidden part of the woods near their village, one where monsters were known to reside. However, things took a desperate turn when the group stumbled into the path of a wounded Blood Panther. Abandoned by his friends, Yuen was attacked by the beast, having his throat slashed and body mangled. It was only by luck that a hunting patrol was nearby, following the injured monster, and came across the fleeing children. Yuen was saved, but more dead than alive. He was brought home, and the wounds on his body would eventually heal, but his voice never returned.

He didn't let it keep him down though, learning how to read and write in Elvish and Runes, a hobby while he recovered. His friends felt guilty for his fate, and never bullied him again, visiting him often when he was recuperating. Determined not to be caught again, Yuen insisted on being trained how to fight, eventually persuading his parents to teach him how to use his abilities. Ten years later, he set out on his own, wanting to travel and make his own path in the world. Along the way, he met Holland, after saving him from a couple of unfriendly cats, and hasn't been able to be rid of him since. Eventually, he learned that one of his uncles had recently passed, and being childless, had left his general store to Yuen. Now 23, he moved into the town, letting Holland manage the register while he stocks it with supplies.

Likes: Fighting, writing, reading, and candy(hush that's a secret).
Dislikes: Spicy and bitter foods, cats, teasing, and fish.
Holland: A beautiful rare sky bird, Holland claims to be a prince under a witch's curse, one that can only be broken by the accumulation of 1,000,000 gold. Of course, there is no evidence to back up this claim, and knowing his penchant for lying, it's probably untrue. He loves teasing Yuen and trying to hook him up with girls.
