I've dabbled in Advanced before and it's alright. My problem with the section is that a lot of people in it, though certainly not all of them, are elitist or egocentric. Often both. As well none of the current roleplays in it really appeal to me.

Yep. If your Pokémon has a high Affection towards you, which is only determined by PokémonAmie, it is more likely to get critical hits and has a chance at surviving attacks that would otherwise KO it. Of course, these effects only appear in the playthrough as the Affection element is removed for wifi battles and in the Battle Maison.
