Pokemon: Brass Version

@LiriiaI think that would make perfect sense. fell free to ask everyone here about any incidents not mentioned. I'd assume Robin's long time hospital stay would be noted.

jasper has had his fair share of injuries while testing things, but nothing too long term as medicine is rather advanced thanks to pokemon's healing abilities and upcoming medical research. But yes broken leg, bones popping out of sockets, etc. (Random medical side note Jasper shares a marvelous medical trait with me that our bodies both are very good at popping joints into place. I've had 4 different joints mess up in accident and they just popped right back into their place. Kind of nasty, but also really lucky). If physicals were ever done there'd be plenty of scars on Jasper's forearms/hands from metal work and such. But he's always been fit otherwise no major diseases in his life. Worst he had was a nasty cold that was made worse by smoke inhalation while working at his workshop and leaving the forge open which just smoked up the place, but since the cold ruined his sense of smell he didn't know for while. Recent years though healthy as you can be in the 1860s.

@Xan the Ghmm that actually seems much much less useful. I mean everyone here is an able bodied person we have a Solider, a gunsmith, and a self appointed "conservationist" who went and fought poachers (though poaching isn't really a thing this is the era of big game hunting.) and such. I mean Jasper and vincent both carry nice high powered fire arms, and by the time we go see a ton of charizard our pokemon will be at that level.

I'm not sure what you can provide then.

Prologue: HMS Swellow

Entrin has always stood as the forefront modern society. It’s vast empire stretching across the globe. Philitri is the jewel of it’s island colonies. The grueling two month trip there by sea tests even the hardiest of souls, but instead the university with all its ties has taken a more civil approach requiring only a short ride by coaches to the Donnol Airship port where you board the HMS Swellow and begin the much shorter week long flight. This would get the crew there in short time, and allow them to meet for the first time as team members.

The ship is somewhat large a sturdy ship made for delegates and other traveling people of authority. It seems the university has spared no expense on their crew. The center of the main deck is open and has furniture placed around nailed to the deck. The ship's crew keep to the upper level where the helm is, and can reach the bow by a raised gangway. The only other place the crew is seen is deep below in the cargo hold on the third floor or in the engine rooms on the fourth floor where men and pokemon work in blazing heat to maintain the boilers. The main rooms for passengers are on the same level as the captains on the second floor moving down. They are well decorated, but not overly so. They each provide a small taste of home even while miles upward. There are only four cabins for normal passengers forcing the six members of the group to double up in some places. Mrs. Evox bluntly refused to share a room before removing herself from the debate by locking her room shut. With the remaining five dice were thrown pairing Jasper, the engineer, and Vincent, the soldier, to one room while Robin, the naturalist, and Inaya, the doctor, were given the other to share leaving Nicolas the final room alone. The only other amenities on the ship are a parlor on the second floor as well with a small library, the galley on the third floor, and a room below the helm on the main deck that acts as a conservatory of sorts so you can view the skyline without having to be outside.

With it only midday and the airship well off into the sky the university crew is left to their own devices as to what they wish to do now.

Jasper stepped into his cabin putting his backpack on a desk directly opposite the door, and the starring out the window just above it. He had never gotten to ride on an airship, and there was a strange feeling in him whenever he looked out the window to only see clear blue skies. Donnol mostly only had gray storm clouds hanging overhead, and if not those then the factory smoke stacks blocked the sun. He sighed scratching at his chin in reflection.

A lot of things were going to change. This was the first time Jasper has left Entrin, and suddenly five other people had been thrown into his life. He wasn’t sure of them yet, but from first glance he could tell the soldier he was rooming with had seen some shit. The lady doctor seemed interesting if not a bit cold. The naturalist seemed all too simple by the rest of the group.

‘Just a naturalist? Impossible.’ Jasper thought to himself, ‘We have a soldier, a doctor, an aristocrat, a university graduate, and a crackpot inventor. She must have more than just a degree.'

Jasper continued to ponder his thoughts going through the back pulling out his coach gun and whistling at its beauty. He shined up the barrel with his coat sleeve and looked down it at the floor. It was a thing of climatic beauty. The gun had been modified to direct the fire very well ever with scattering ammo and the solid bullets fire like it was a rifle. All part of Jasper’s design. He cracked it open the gun opening in the middle flinging an empty cartridge out and across the room.

“Damn, forgot to clean it. Oh well I have a week.” Jasper muttered looking down the gun before setting it aside.

Jasper scanned the room spotting a single bed, a dresser with a small clock on it, an armchair with footstool, and a sconce on the wall. Upon closer inspection Jasper noticed a glass bulb and wiring. The ship was wired for electricity and interesting trait. Jasper tapped a switch that turned the light on and then off. He stored the information for later so he could ask a crewman about it. For now though he checked the lock on his gun, and then holstered his other gun, a bladed revolver, on his hip. A sleek and deadly device using some designs imported from unova the revolver had class, style, and precision.

Sitting down at the desk the engineer began to write out some notes on intended projects for the week in the sky. Set next to him was the small wooden box he brought everywhere. Inside was an assortment of shiny brass and broken steel all of it scrap pieces and gears for tinkering. Hopefully there was enough of it to last through the trip. The last thing Jasper needed was to run out of excuses to excuse himself from conversation and the box always provided him something to do.

@Xan the G Well fair warning the RP is currently full. I have been debating letting a fifth person in in which case you'd be competing with sMoKe. I'm also posting the OOC today, so you'll be joining in later if I do decide to include you. Basically I'd recommend that Marcus is already on philitri and that he's been there a while so then we can have a nice continuity. I already have a backup plan if I let sMoKe in late, but for your character being on Philitri seems like the best option.

As for my current review of your work heres what I got:

stun rod (induces temporary paralysis on a pokemon)Pokegear. Neither of these devices would exist. Electricity is not common place and requires massive power plants or directly hooking up the device to an electric pokemon for the duration of its use as there is no chargeable battery. A pokegear is FAR too advanced for the 1830-60s anyway.

the trade is very interesting though I'm somewhat confused by it. basically from what I'm reading Marcus is like the crocodile hunter of pokemon literally running in and messing around with them, but then actually catching them. I think you'll end up butting heads or at least rivaling Robin the resident primordial pokemon ranger.

Also points for the zubat sprite yours or not points..

I'm happy to announce that I have decided who has made it into this RP. Having taken the plot into account I see Vincent and Robin providing the most to the group. With vincent's history there's plenty of space for it creeping up on him, and Robin has enough baggage to fill the airship you will be arriving on. There is so much I can do with these characters as a GM and I hope to work with them.

As happy as I am to start I am sad to say Tane has not made it. As much as he's a solid character I'm not entirely sure what I could provide for him in this story as though there will be airships and big machinery for him I don't know that it's enough to drive a character. Though the privateers were an interesting thought privateering in this era was in the west while the plot is in the east. Despite having more than Galgarion for content it all felt like things that wouldn't add to the group. There was another character with a major tragedy in their life, all of these characters have built themselves up from humble starts, and so on. Perhaps later I may find a place that he can fit in, but until then I can't see this Rp providing a meaningful experience for you.

I actually have a question for Naril when they return. Since I'm a member of the emergency backup characters (like I don't expect to be needed unless one of them breaking their hands entirely off), am i still allowed to discuss and talk here?

Just reminding you all I am doing the final reviews right now of characters. You've all produced good characters, and now it's down to two core aspects:

What you bring to the narrative, and the possibilities when interacting with the other characters. From the X-criminal soldier, to the scarred heroine, and the sky-gazing engineer you've all provided a great aspect of what I want covered in this story: social struggle, ethical debate, and political upheaval. Only two of you will be making it in though. The remaining person may read along, and if I find the story will be better with a 5th I will incorporate them, but I am not certain that is going to be the case.
