There was no telling of what created such an event, but the cause of it is very apparent. During the last months of the Third Era, the final Queen of the Kiriton Dynasty had given the accepting support of a new mining project to undergo. After the biggest mine in the Dynasty's power soon began to face problems with its terrain and how deep it was going to go, a project known as
Grace and Arms was set into motion, hoping to mine a flourishing vein of complicated materials that would bring a graceful amount of resources towards the military and advancing in arms research and development. Whilst the project was successful for the first month, an unwanted and unpredictable discovery occurred right within those mines.
A small, prebuilt structure was found underground, leading to much controversy as to whether or not they should mine further. Panic arose, as for most of the time the humans were the only civilisation capable of building or massing together as a community, but the designs of these chambers they found seemed rather different from any historical accuracy in human life. Eventually, they built up the guts to send in a team of librarians, warriors, two wizards and the eldest son of the Queen into the building. Most of it was empty rooms, some larger than anything they could have ever imagined. As the days went by, the teams sent in went deeper and deeper every time, almost as if the structure went on for miles. Eventually, they came to what appeared to be a great hall, where a single lever was found.
As most of the contraptions in the structure seemed unable to work, it seemed only logical for the researchers to see if this one worked too, possibly to be used to open doors or somewhat. However, their ignorance and lack of caution then was the cause of this crisis, as upon pulling the leaver...something opened.
This opening started to pour out thousands of creatures, large and small, as they smashed and slithered their way out of the buried structure. No one knew what the lever opened, whether it was a portal or a chamber hiding these horrifying creatures. They advanced, straight out of the mining facility and into the open worlds. Towns and villages slowly began to be torn to bits, the citizens ripped to shreds by their unknown opposition. Many panicked, especially the Western side of the regions, and began to hold their ground as a large mass of the military were deployed nationwide. Eventually, boats were set, and daily trips back and forth across the channel were ready. The mass evacuation was prepared, designed to try and save as many people as possible. Before the first boat even set off, news spread that the Queen's home city had been over-run, and the panic became so apparent that every single evacuating soldier sped up the process, taking every civilian they could and pledging to never return to the lands, afraid that anyone who tried to return would be met by a strange array of creatures, unlike anything the continent had ever seen before.
