Cosmo Youngblood blinked.

He floated a foot off of the ground, a swirling mass of red mist solidifying beneath the soles of his heeled boots.

"Heh." He smirked at a really cool and inappropriate joke he thought about just then. "I'm so fucking twisted..."

Hey yall, going to try and get the OOC finished tomorrow to post up. Thanks for your patience.
I basically have a character made. Regardless of whatever background lore you were going to make I was just going to modify it to fit.

Make the OOC with a sample character so we know what kind of level you're looking for in character depth? I'm still interested in the idea, I'd just like to see slightly more direction in the plot to start off with a foot in the right direction.

So, to draw back the curtain a bit, @Jabberwocky is my wife and has already started working on her character sheet. She'll post her's up as soon as I post the OOC and that will give everybody a good idea to go off of. Hope to have the thread up soon, guys. Thanks for the interest and the questions.
I think I'm going to let the rest of this fantasy world be a work of collaborative fiction. What I mean by that is, you tell me about where your character is from if it's outside of Torvelt. Is he from some dwarven kingdom that you just made up? Awesome. Tell me about it. If it all makes sense to me and vibes with everything else, we're all set. If it doesn't I'll work with you.
Wow, thanks for the interest yall. I'll start work on the OOC today, maybe we can get this thing on the road soon.

Hey! Interested in the fantasy part! The DND part notsomuch...

If we start rolling for initiative and spend the next hour describing how we keep missing our attacks or tracking rounds of our conditions before and if/when a spell ends or figuring out if I still have a bonus action to use... well, then yeah, this girlie out.

I'm glad you mentioned this, because I want to highlight that part of things. The DnD part is entirely for flavor, and trying to go for that 'adventuring party' feel for the group. There will be no dice rolls, no mechanics to worry about, no stats at all. I might try doing some stuff on my end to keep things feeling organic, but you guys won't have to worry about that. Just pick a favorite fantasy trope/archetype and have fun.
I'm going to grab the Dragon.
Thanks very much dude, glad to have you.

Now that you ask that, I think I am going to go with a DnD style as a base, and trust people to keep themselves in line. It's not fun if the wizard vaporizes everything all the time. But, if somebody wants to do something out of the ordinary, I'm definitely open to a pitch for it.

The land of Torvelt has known little besides hardship. It's blasted peaks, it's dark woods, the festering marsh, all conspired to create a land thought uninhabitable by mortal men. But, wherever there is free land, there are those desperate enough to tame it. Torvelt became a kingdom of outcasts, of criminals, of the unwanted and the hunted. When they came to Torvelt, they became free of their past, given a second chance to earn a better life. The everyday hazards of the land became old rivals, fashioning together a hardy and tenacious people. Civilization began to spread across the land, for once.

Then came the Fog, a plague unlike anything the land had ever known. It left people as nothing but husks, and many more simply disappeared into the heart of the dark and ancient forests. Villages at the frontier of the wilderness suffered first. But now, the plague has made it's way to the heart of Torvelt, the capital of Koprust, to the king's own family. His son has disappeared, leaving behind nothing but mindless Fog-afflicated servants. A royal decree has gone out across the land, a quest for those brave enough or desperate enough... find and rescue the prince, lost in the Fog of Torvelt.

S E T T I N G
This is a medieval fantasy world in all the ways you love. I'm a DnD nerd, so a lot of this will be inspired by that sort of fantasy adventure. Torvelt is a kingdom founded in the ass-end of the world, essentially, that had to offer total amnesty in order to entice people to live there. It is a harsh place to live, dangerous, dark and foreboding. There are ancient things that have been sitting here, undisturbed, for a very long time. There is only one major city in the entire kingdom, the capital of Koprust, which still isn't particularly glamorous either. Things are grim here, and only made worse by this weird curse plague sweeping over the nation. Throughout this story, we will be exploring some of those deep dark places, equal parts fantasy and horror at times. The party will have to survive together, using their combined skills.

C H A R A C T E R S
The major way Torvelt differs from the rest of this fantasy world is that it's home to a lot of creatures traditionally thought to be monstrous. Things like Minotaurs, goblins, harpies, half-orcs, and other things along those lines are relatively common here. Humans still make up the majority of the population, but after that it's full of people you wouldn't normally see, usually from pretty sketchy backgrounds. However, this does not mean that they tend towards evil. They're just people trying to live and work, with sometimes troubled pasts. I don't want this to be an 'evil party' roleplay, because those rarely work.

I will be using a dnd basis for some things, just for ease. Your character sheets will have a place for things like Class or Archetype, and that is purely for narrative purposes. There aren't going to be any mechanics to worry about. Just, make a fun fantasy character, and don't be afraid to ask for something kind of out there.
