The Silver Dagger

The OOC is up: Silver Dagger OOC

IC prompt

It has been a year and a half since a major disaster occurred in the city of Temrin. A warlock was the catalyst for a dangerous chain of events that turned half the city to ash and cinders. Now, people have just started to recover, and in some parts of the ruined town, life is starting to resemble the way it used to be. However, the city’s leaders know that Temrin is now more vulnerable than ever. After all, manticores, firetoads, and werewolves aren’t works of fiction to the people of Temrin, but before these events, they were muted to an extent. Where other towns and cities feared the possibility of attacks and went pale at the mention such hell-wrought creatures, Temrin’s population could rest easy knowing that it had protectors.

The Silver Dagger was an organization that specialized in solving problems of the occult. Warriors and alchemists, fighters and priests all came together in order to curb the encroaching tide of supernatural and demonic entities that plague other parts of the world. It was they, who are the reason that Temrin still stands at all. During the catastrophe though, most of them were either lost in the battle or resulting explosion.

Vincent Tahler, the former captain of Temrin’s guard, wracked with stress and survivor's guilt, felt he owed it to both the people he was charged with protecting and those who had fallen to rebuild the guild from the ground up.

Putting the word out, he hopes that there are individuals, for whatever the reason, who are willing to help aid him in the fight to protect the city of Temrin.

The Silver Dagger is a fantasy roleplay of the sword and sorcery variety. Obviously player characters will take on the role of prospective members of the guild. The world that the story takes place in is developed to a certain extent. My co-GM, Riknas, and I have thoroughly developed the story. We have designed a narrative for people to participate in, alter and change. In a sense, it will work kind of like an interactive adventure but mostly affected by the writing. Characters can and will guide the story, and people will be introduced, and if the story necessitates it, people will die.

If you have any questions about the setting, roleplay, or story, feel free to ask myself or Riknas and we will be happy to answer. If you’re interested though, please chime in.
In the year 2455, a pair of scrap peddlers manage to steal a clunky freighter and jet out of a backwater colony. Their goal? Revolution. Fed up with the rampant crime and governmental corruption that has spread throughout the solar system, they head to a large martian city with the aims joining a radical political group that dissents against the current government.

On their third day on the colony, an act of terrorism leads to the destruction of an important municipal building and several deaths. The two, plus a third person, find themselves at the center of this catastrophe and must decide whether to embrace this conflict or try to reclaim their old lives.

This roleplay is something that both my friend Riknas and I have bounced around for a while, but are looking for a third person to write with us.

If you’re interested, let us know in the thread, and PM me a sample of your writing
My thought was to avoid repercussion. Possibly use the princess as a bargaining chip since he, and technically the storm lands were still at war up until, a few days ago. I wasn't sure if he would return to King's Landing while the war was still on.

Those ideas work for me though.
So, I was considering taking on the role of Willis Fell. Judging by the timeline, he would currently be at Storm's End (the House his family is sworn to), and protecting Aegon II remaining child. Just wanted to ask if this would be okay with everyone.
I've been interested in working with this setting for a while, but I didn't think it would fit well with a larger thread. The premise of this is to work through the game's story and flesh out bits of dialogue, lore, and narrative.

I don't have any real rules, just be able to post at an advance level and have a solid knowledge of the game's lore.
Interested.
Richard was just about to answer Astrid and Terra when another student walked in. “Mind if I join you guys?” the boy asked. Richard glanced at him and the cat rearing up anxiously on his shoulders. He looked around at the compartment and then looked back at the newcomer.

“Yeah, sure,” Richard said. “We’ve got plenty of room. I’m Richie, and this is Astrid and Terra. We were just talking about what houses we think we’ll end up in.” He scooted over as Toby pushed into the compartment. He helped the boy stow his things and they all sat down.

“I haven’t really given much thought to where I’d end up,” Richard admitted. “I always just assumed I would end up in Hufflepuff like both of my parents.” There were stories about the Sorting Hat taking the student’s choice into consideration, but Richard felt he’d just be grateful that he was being sorted in the first place.

"Oh man, that apparation shit is stressful." Cleo opened one eye and looked at him, "You pass your apparation license test?"

A loud, deafening crack reverberated off the compartment walls and Jeff was now sitting just across from her. He felt his stomach do a turn but he ignored it. “I had a little trouble at first, but I can’t say I miss portkeys or flooing. There’s just a lot more freedom with apparation.” Jeff twirled his wand absentmindedly and glanced up at his trunk which was sitting on the rack above him. He flicked his wrist and a book fluttered down, landing gently in his hands.

“And, nah, I don’t mind,” he said. “Get as much work done as you need. I’ll probably just do a bit of reading before I go make my next rounds.” He flipped the book open to a point about midway through and glanced at a note he had previously scribbled in the margins.

“Your summer was good?” Jeff asked.
I'm not on Chatzy at the moment.
I, uh, isn't Gerold Hightower a former King's Guardman from A Song of Ice and Fire?
Richard nervously shook Astrid’s hand and gave Terra a polite nod. “I’m Richard,” he said, lugging his trunk inside and stowing it on the compartment’s rack. “You can call me Richie though. This is my first year as well,” he replied. He took a seat across from the two girls and sighed. So here he was, on the train and already meeting the first of his fellow students. He glanced between their faces and tried to figure out if there was any way he’d be able to distinguish the girls, but there didn’t seem to be many differences, if any, between the two.

Silence. Richard didn’t know what to say. He looked down and played with a loose thread hanging off his jeans. “So, do you know anyone at Hogwarts?” he asked. He was somewhat hoping the answer was no and that they were in the same predicament he was.

Jeff watched the crowd from his position on the platform and was satisfied when it had appeared that most of the first years had made it onto the train. He noticed a few first time professors also board the train and a made a mental note on each of them. Things had been tense in the weeks leading up to the first day and it was noticeable on the face of each parent and student who passed through the barrier. It was going to take a serious adjustment period before things stabilized, but on the whole, magic’s revelation was going to be a positive. Of that, Jeff was certain.

Neither of his parents had made it out to see him off, which was fine. Both had been incredibly busy over the last few weeks and Jeff had needed to arrive early anyways. He had given out instructions, along with the Head Girl, to the prefects before patrolling the platform, but for the moment, things looked to be under control.

He recognized so many faces. They smiled, waved, and called out to him, and Jeff acknowledged each in turn as he passed by several compartments. He wanted to go meet with a few friends, but whenever he encountered a brief lull in his chaotic schedule, he mostly wanted to spend it relaxing. He had moved his stuff from the prefect’s compartment and had placed it one of the more isolated compartments towards the back of the train. He’d meet back up with the others an hour before their arrival, but for now he’d rather sit down and get into his new book. It was a strikingly relevant piece recently published by Hermione Granger muggle and wizard relations. He found it somewhat comedic that recent events had likely made it prematurely outdated.

As he was walking, he noticed a Ravenclaw girl in his year just ahead of him. He wasn’t extremely familiar with Cleo Bones, but if you go to school with someone for six years, then you’re bound to at least know a little. “Trouble finding a compartment?” he asked. “If so, there’s an open one a few carts down,” he said. “If you don’t mind sharing with me,” he added, the barest of grins on his face.
