Section #1: Jig Being Right

It has come to my attention, that I am primarily right and drunk.

Jig is completely right.

Jig is right.

[11.01.50] Gowi:

Jig is right. Feel free to send that along.

[Jig is] 100% correct.

Jig was right 8 months ago, and is still right.

I love you, Jig. It's because you're Always Right™.

Once again, Jig is absolutely right about this.

Where is Jig when I need to vent about politics?
Drunk.

The mighty Jig is of course right.

AuntFlavia said I love how this now adds tension to the scene when Benji tried to pawn his drink off to Rikki while saying that it tasted awful.

Oh crap.

On the plus side, being incriminated means he's less likely to get killed off first. In any Agatha Christie, the fish-out-of-water that sleeps for most of the journey and hasn't really interacted too much yet is usually the first to go, especially when he walked into the grounds on his own, presumably to find a bomb with the word 'inevitable' on it.

I'm going to keep him right where I can see him in future. That way he'll be safe.

... right?
HA.

Bitch, you can't drug a hippie. It just makes them more powerful.

This is amazing.
I love how James got accosted in a toilet and Benji got propositioned by a filthy rich Swede.

It doesn't really seem fair :P

Anyway, I'm up for a collab whenever you want, basically, but I wouldn't want to post for a little while because he's involved in like three posts in a row.
How did you make that? It looks almost like a Warhol style print.
No rush. :)
Oh, man. Hope you're feeling better.

Oops. :3

Thinking with German again (verdammte).

the so-called "twi-haters" were even more fanatic than the "twi-hards".

Just like Justin Bieber, High School Musical and Fifty Shades of Grey, I've never actually met anybody that liked Twilight, but probably a city's worth of people that proclaim to hate it and seen a total lifetime's worth of faddy, lazy comedy material poking fun at their expense.
It does make me wonder why people don't just read the books, watch the films and listen to the music they like, instead of presumably sitting down to suffer.

Anyway, back on topic: the debate also depends on the vampire's role in the story. A single enigmatic vampire is going to be very powerful, while, if they are commonplace, they will be weaker, especially where they are antagonistic by default. A city full of hard-to-kill super-powered human-turning vampires that are the enemy will overthrow the world in days unless they have some super-crippling kryptonite.

Another thought on breeding: how to manage the population. A vampire's food source (humans) is the same as its breeding opportunity (humans), and so, clearly, there is something of a conflict of interest here. In my current RP, the western world has by-and-large accepted vampires. Here, vampires don't even have any meaningful opposition, and so, in order for their population not to completely overthrow that of the humans, they are legally (and internally) obliged not to breed. In my RP, this is done through the intentionally bunged-up licence system, where a vampire must basically file for an application to turn somebody, if they want a progeny.
I can't help too much because I avoid 'tragic' characters for the same reason that you do, but don't get hung up on being 'cliché'. All that means is that you're doing something that's been done before, really, and, yes, tragic characters with bereavement, drug issues, rape, genocide, whatever, have been written before in fiction. No matter what character you right, somebody out there will be able to say "Oh, like character x from artistic work y."

What you really want to do, in my opinion, is to write whatever it is well, whatever the particularly tragedy is. Poor writing, not content, is the aspect of Mary Sues with tragic backstories that elicit my groans. It's not the fact that she walked out of a genocide that makes me go "Ugh, really?": It's a pretty horrific thing to happen to somebody (even Sue) and easy to sympathise with, unless the author jeopardises the reader's sympathy and understanding of the situation. I know 'write it well' isn't the easiest advice to act upon, but it's the best I can do. :P
IC is up, my pretties. Sorry it took a little longer than I planned, but there it is.

Note: 'Meneer' is the Dutch equivalent for 'Mister'. 'Mevrouw' is the female equivalent. As Albert is Dutch and in a position of at least vampiric superiority, those not especially close to him will probably refer to him (at least to his face!) as Meneer Ogthoven, though they presumably won't be anywhere near as formal with him as Alexander is, poor boy. He may speak some Dutch from time to time (but not too much, because my Dutch is far from perfect!), which I'll translate in a post in the OoC because I dislike OoC notes in the IC section - if any of you wish to give similar notes on your posts, I would equally prefer those to be put in the OoC section for the same reason. Cheers. :)

- 'verdomt/e', is a sort of expletive that's used just like 'fucking', but I don't think it's quite as stark as 'fucking' is. I may be wrong though (halp, Alida).
