@Darcs
Each to their own. I was under the impression from the book that the most loyal Northerners were... absent. A few were still plotting against Bolton though but when we had Lannister backing they couldn't really do much.

Yeah, Santa's plotline in the books would be very boring TV but I think it's a more slow and subtle development than the show but that's how the different mediums work.

Also, I was under the impression that GRRM was less involved with the show after season 3. I know he's still advising but he has distanced himself a bit.

In any case, it's worth watching because Dinklage.

Basically, yes. The first three seasons are good and are well done but start going iffy in season three.

Mind you, they screwed up the dynamic between Khal Drogo and Daenerys right off the bat so...
@Darcs

The show plotline just put her into Jeyne Poole's (incidentally, that's just shoddy script writing - 'Hmm, key character's plot becomes complex and subtle. That's not really in keeping with the rest of it - what shall we do?' 'Well, there's another female character who has a FAR more active plot line and she's not important so why don't we just put her there instead?').

In the books her plot line is very, very subtle and, I think, going to be oh so important. The series basically built her up and then just took her back to square one for... well, nothing really. They just couldn't be bothered to make what seemed to them a few dull scenes when in fact they're very fascinating, just a little more complex than the usual gore they've started to rely on (I've stopped watching now, it's just not as well developed).

Ker-post!

I'm foreseeing I might have issues with the Box scenarios. Might be a lot of inner-analysis <.<

Alex smiled and nodded.

"You can call me whatever you wish to, Sony."

They parted as she went in search of her own book to read but he barely registered it, gazing at the rows of books in the history section. Several were on this Alexander 'the Great' but he had yet to determine whether the man was worthy of such a grand title. There were a few other biographies on other long-dead people so he collected a few, most of which were on the Ancient Macedonian, before looking for Sony.

Then he spotted the newest entrant to the library. His eyes instinctively narrowed.

What is this? Jealousy? No reason for that. Irritation? No, it's deeper than that. Mistrust. Yes, but why - I've never talked to him. He was the victim. Or was he? He seemed fairly in control the whole time... which meant he knew what might happen with Red. He's a manipulator then, that's where the instinct came from. Better keep an eye on him - Doc didn't seem quite so ready to leap to his defence earlier. I need more information on this.

Shaking away his internal analysis, Alex focused his attention on Sony. Her face was drawn and the focus on her face was too intense for merely reading. As he approached he could hear her reading aloud while she glanced occasionally at the troublemaker. Deducing the source of her apparent discomfort, Alex moved around her and chose a place so that he was sitting in such a way that he, and his considerable pile of books, blocked most any sight of the others in the library.

"What did you choose then?" He asked, attempting to divert her attention. "Hemingway? For some reason that's in here... some kind of great literary figure apparently. Nicely chosen!" He then gestured to his pile. "I got a few, apparently there's quite a few Alexanders from the past and I can't take just one book as evidence. Apparently I'm a very suspicious person." He smiled mildly with a short, warm laugh.

Is it still a lie if I'm pretending to joke while I know it's true?
@Darcs I can't remember any he dropped - some are dormant though for sure or their conclusion is alluded to.

The series, though, have dropped so many of my favourite plotlines or just flat out changed then into simpler, less interesting scenarios. (Sansa, for example).

@AeonumbraGeorge R R Martin.

@TheMadAsshatter My wife has a similar issue, she did a Creative Writing degree and is published in a few poetry collections but a novel is her real aim, she just finds it hard to keep it going without wanting to go back and edit or drastically change something.
@TheMadAsshatter
I think I'm in the minority of people who aren't asking why he's not finished the next book - I can only imagine how hard it is to construct such a complex narrative.
@Lightning Fast
I suffer from the curse of am actually unlimited data plan. Mind you, it's a godsend for the hour bus journeys to and from work.

Also those books are great but quite a commitment!
Alexis rolled her eyes at the tone the operatives used. They were that kind: if you weren't one then you were useless.

"Let's see how they keep up with the SAS, then." She muttered under her breath, forgetting for a moment she had long since left that life behind. She loaded her weapon, swaying to and fro as she easily dodged any attacks that came near her before breaking cover to avoid the sand barrage, sliding over the top of a car bonnet to crouch in dubious safety behind it.

It doesn't seem to have a weak spot, they'd have found it by now.

She peered over the top of the bonnet, observing the team firing at the creature. It was clear they were still trying to find some kind of vulnerable area but so far it seemed completely unconcerned by their resistance and merely marched onwards towards the city. Subduing it was looking less and less likely as a possibility, let alone killing the thing. One of the team was trying to circle behind the creature but she could see that it would leave them vulnerable, isolated from the others. She too began to flank it but stopped halfway so that they could catch it in a perfect cross fire.

"Doesn't look like it has any weak spots. Have you got anything bigger?" She asked, looking for anything in the area they could use. There were no cars at its feet to light up and create a smokescreen, or even damage it with the explosion of a fuel tank. Alexis rarely used any non-precision weaponry and so had no grenades or anything more substantial than her assault rifle, although that was usually more than sufficient.

The creature was getting too close to the city for comfort now and showed no sign of slowing down or even being affected by their attacks at all.

"Focus on its legs - if we concentrate our fire it might actually do something!"
@Lightning Fast Why stop at 4? I have Lulu, I need to update Lucy, but she's still around... Leoluca might be getting a CS soonish.. I know Nui is getting one, she's actually an Immortal who's good at hiding her power like Lulu-- Aiai has one I'm working on, The Radio Amarillo has one-- I'm going to be playing as Joe's Daughter, and some slave... both of whom will be getting short ones...

I actually have a CS for Daniella + Family, too, but I don't want to post it because then you'd know what her power is.

Oh fuck, and The Bartender is probably actually magic by now.

The point I'm trying to get at here Lightning is that you can never have enough characters. You just keep throwing them on the pile and laugh maniacally.

In my experience most bartenders are magic. They bring out this drink that makes me feel all happy and makes the world spin lots faster.
