With her body lacking in strength, vision blurred, and hearing dampened, Mei was left with no choice but to rely solely on her instincts to get her through the first few days of life. As much as she wanted to focus and figure out the intricacies of the predicament she had found herself in, thoughts of sleep, hunger, and anxiety continued to cycle through her head. What kept her sane throughout this initial ordeal were a soothing warmth and a pungent yet calming scent. As the days passed, Mei's senses began to sharpen, and soon she realized that what she repeatedly sought and fled to was - at least she assumes to be - her birth mother in this strange world.

Whenever she could, Mei would follow and observe her mother; where she went, how she moved, and the way she hunted were things Mei wanted to pick up for herself. Those were the bare essentials if she needed to survive. But with each day, their gap in ability was always made apparent as Mei was always left behind.

Today though, was going to be different. Lifting her head, Mei turned to her nose to sniff out her mother's scent. Given all the time she had spent with her, Mei eventually grew accustomed to her odor. With her heightened sense of smell, this was certainly possible.

As soon as she caught the scent, Mei began to search. Tracking her mother would be a challenge, but with the help of lingering strands of her pitch black fur, large prints and deformities left along the cavern walls and floor, and the occasional traces of excreta that she was somewhat familiar with, Mei knew that she'd be able to locate her.

Species: Dire Rat

Appearance: Just over a foot and a half when standing, Mei is far less intimidating than the typical Dire Rat. Her dull umber fur appears to be shorter than most, but remains coarse and unkempt. What makes Mei easier to identify would be her left eye. Although cloud-like in opacity, she suffers no impairment in vision from it.

Goals: To conquer the world

Past Life:
Mei's history begins in a small urban area of the Fujian province in China. Her parents were tailors that ran a small business in a small town, and were just two plain faces among the billion more worn by the citizens of the same country. It had seemed that Mei would be thrust into a life of mediocrity that would plague her for her entire life. After all, she was not physically strong or large, and though Mei's teachers had always considered her an exceptionally gifted child, it was not nearly enough to save her from her banal existence. Yet fate works in mysterious ways. In many aspects, being born into such an average life let het bare the fruit of her talents - at a very young age she learned that she yearned more; more of everything - power, wealth, influence. Ambition burned inside her, and at the age of twelve she ran away from home.
 
But how was a young girl like her, weak, alone, and talentless supposed to conquer the world on ambition alone? After living like a rat on the streets for several months, the answer came to her while watching a local gang terrorize a nearby shop owner. Power and strength were nothing but an illusion. Life was such that there is always someone stronger, or faster, or smarter. Knowledge and information was where true power lied, and if you didn't have that then all you needed was to seem that you did. And so, ten years of lying, cheating, and blackmailing her way through an imperfect system of government, she, as young as she was, found herself in charge of the heart of the local criminal underworld. But there had to be more, even she recognized that all her hard work only made him a big fish in a small pond. She needed to learn more, but alas, a bullet through the skull had ended her life.

Abilities:

• Beast Sense I (1.4): A bundle skill applying to all physical senses. giving you sharper eyesight, better hearing and smelling, and in general be more sensitive to your surroundings
