What kinda poundage you got on that longbow?

Cause I be doing research on shields vs bows now. :P

Haha cool. I'd say it draws about 120 lbs. Not Mary Rose English-bowman levels, but it's a proper 5-6ft longbow and she's a strong girl.

America!! Where are you! So many bad things going on in this world. Be our beacon of freedom!

Canada!! Where are you! Our beacon needs a hat!
Gunnaya took aim at the heavily armoured elf, but she'd need an opening if she wanted to do any real damage. The majority of local birds who'd have heard her call would still be on their way, with only a couple small kestrels circling above.

"I need to keep this elf on the defensive", she thought. "On the other hand, if that shield is as thick as it looks, I'm not going anywhere. Let's see if it is."

With that, Gunnaya let out an ear-piercing whistle, communicating "follow this" to her avian brethren. She let a single iron arrow fly, aimed for the mid center of Blithe's shield. This motion would direct the two circlers to the elf. Being untrained wild birds, and not large ones at that, they'd be little more than a nuisance to the warrior. Still, a couple birds pecking and scratching at one's head is a fine distraction, potentially leaving openings.
As the arrow flew, Gunnaya's free hand took firm grip of the branch beneath her, and she began to swing herself down, aiming for a landing on the solid ground below.

Hey how big is Blith's shield? From the tip of her head to her crotch? Her knees? I'd think a shield going all the way to her toes would be pretty damn heavy, unless it's really thin or something.

Good choice. Now we won't have to use these.

And good job.

Be a good little Imperial Domain and maybe you'll get what you want.

If not...

Then you get the 18.1 inch shells into your cities.

Damn straight you're sorry.

啊! 日本waifu-desu! 我要!
Question, what exactly are the birds "orders", are they aiming to pester me, attack me, blind me?

Nothing yet. I'm just calling them to my side. After that, you'll have to see.

And thanks for the impute, the branches slipped my mind when writing the first bit (resting on one). As it happens, I've got some rather large pine trees in my yard. So long as the branches are grabbed near-ish to the trunk, as you say, they could easily support a person. I'm working under the assumption that some of these trees are quite close together in parts, as this is essentially an untouched forest, so I'm able to hop and climb near where the trunk is. Of course, if I land on a branch with my feet, with any amount of momentum, I'd expect it to crack without hesitation.

Edit: Any advice about stuff like that is very welcome, of course. Likewise, if I need to clarify.

Edit 2: Added a bit to my last IC post, to clarify where I'm standing on the branch.
