@Crab... see if you can find out what she's interested in. Then ask her about it. No flirting need be involved to just break the ice. :)

Bio

Long time casual role player who loves tales of adventure! I enjoy tabletop games, play-by-post, and even LARP!

Wild (and sometimes weird) west and medieval fantasy games with an 'old-school' D&D feel are my favorite.

In real life, I'm a software engineer and wanna-be farmer. I have a little garden and some chickens that like to destroy my flower beds. But I like 'em anyway and they all have names. ;) Sometimes they lay me some breakfast.

Other hobbies include dog agility and archery.

No, it's cool. Plus, I recall RPing with you way back in 'Captured By Drow v1.0' and I know you're not one to run in and declare "I kill all the things!" ;)
Oh, definitely. :) But I don't mind figuring it out via the RP. I'll wait to time skip until things feel like they start to stall.
"Apologies, dear," Straw said. "It's not every day I get to witness such extraordinary things. Couldn't help myself." He seemed unphased by her declaration to have been many things over the years.

"I didn't peek!" Calvin protested, wanting the elf to think well of him for some reason. He re-shouldered her heavy pack, hurrying to catch up, where he walked in silence for a few minutes, contemplating. "If you've been all that, you must've had some pretty exciting adventures. Ever been up north where we're headed?"

@Marcus XVI, I don't have much planned for our trek north until we reach our destination. So if there's anything in particular you want to throw in, feel free. Otherwise, maybe we can fast forward at least some of the journey. :)
Straw's mouth was slightly agape as Cyriana's strange pearl eye apparently had just magically healed some of her wounds. He closed it quickly when she suggested they continue on. "Oh... ah... of course," he said, figuring it best not to ask questions.

Calvin, who hadn't quite seen what had happened other than the bright light, looked at her in wonder. "You're a healer?!" he blurted. No wonder Straw had asked her along.

As they started moving northward again, Straw breathed a small of relief.

The coin is easily pulled from the mud and it's immediately obvious that it's old, possibly even ancient. Its marking were not that of a silver piece commonly found today and the edges have been worn down over time.

What's left of the cart's wood crumbles under Jasmine's touch. The few bits of metal are rusted through.
Henwen, if you want to adopt one or both of them, please feel free. But Twhirtley's solution works too, particularly since this RP is supposed to involved some PC deaths. ;) Maybe they decide to keep their feet dry and head the other direction?
As the riders left, Straw emerged, looking concerned. But Calvin took the look as nothing more than concern over the coughing elf. "Maybe we should take you back?" the young man suggested, looking at the blood Cyriana had just spit up. "You sound like you need a week in bed, not a week traipsing through the wilderness." But he did as she asked and averted his eyes, hoping that whatever she had wasn't contagious.

Straw pretended to look away, though glanced sideways at her a moment later. The elf was definitely in worse shape than he had previously realized, though turning back would be extremely risky now that he knew the three travelers that had just passed knew his face.
For anyone following Wystan down the tunnel to the left:

Though the walls are uneven, it remains easily passable and the tunnel's height remains a fairly consistent 6 feet, give or take a few inches here or there. The walls show evidence of being struck and chiseled with tools at some point. The water on the floor is getting slowly, but steadily deeper, so that by the time they've gone about 60 feet, it is almost a foot deep.

The tunnel opens up suddenly into a small chamber, roughly circular and about 25 ft in diameter. On the opposite side of the chamber the wet tunnel continues on, off into the dark. The chamber itself shows heavy evidence of being worked once upon a time. To the right, a seam of coal runs the whole length of the wall and the remnants of a wooden cart are smashed into the corner, perhaps pushed there by the recent flood waters. Near it is a small glint of a silver coin, poking half-way up out of the muddy floor.

And on the ceiling, for anyone that happens to glance up, are a half dozen very large centipedes, one of which lets go to drop down onto the spelunkers below.

(Next poster may decide who the creepy crawly lands on. ;) )
The trio looked momentarily startled by the appearance of the elf. The man turned his mount quickly to face her, while the woman pushed their horse behind slightly so that they were shielded by their companion.

He looked her up and down for a moment, "Nay, lass, the good folks at Dawsbury patched us up a bit and gave us a hearty meal. All we need is a bit of rest. 'Sides, you look in worse shape than us."

As he spoke, Calvin slowly stood and came to stand beside the elf, leaving his bow in hand, but no arrow nocked.

After eyeing up the young man, the rider continued, "As for Laethros, tis a good thing you haven't heard his name. We met 'im in Dawsbury a few weeks back. If you meet the traitorous lout, don't trust 'im if he tries to hire you on to go lookin' for some old tome or such. Try ta stab ya in the back!"

Still hidden, Straw pulled his hat down a little, suddenly quite glad that he had changed clothes and name both since the last time he had seen this trio...

"Safe travels, friends!" the man said, turning his mount to continue heading toward town.
