Agatha Loom

Jaden started barraging Agatha with questions. She did her best to answer them.

"I don't know anything about what caused what happened. At first I thought that someone was onto me, then I saw you and everyone else there. All I can really think of is either all of us know something that someone or something doesn't want us to... Or, I dunno, that portal just randomly pulled us in. You think it was because we weren't normal? I mean, I don't think everyone there had supernatural potential. Either that or they were just too chicken to defend themselves with them. I haven't really talked to anyone else there. I haven't even spoken to Brianna, either, no. I was just in a race to get back home. I don't think I even gave her my phone number."

Then... She had to double check what that last question was.

"Sorry... Did you just say, you want to open that... pillar, portal thing again? Why the hell would you want to go back?! It took an entire group of us just to survive for less than... An hour, I think? Doesn't matter. Are you seriously rethinking of going back? Or worse, what if the only way in is to send the rest of us down too, like last time? Does either possibility sound very fun?" She asked him, seriously hoping that Jaden rethought his life choices.

Tristan Douge

Oh FUCK.

As soon as the wall painted itself and started speaking, Tristan sprang up to his feet. He watched as a figure emerged from the wall... Almost like a woman, it looked like?

It started speaking, but Tristan could hardly understand it. It hurt just to listen, let alone stare at that thing. He got the general message, though. It was taunting him. Teasing. Treating this all like some big game. Never a good sign in any horror movies.

Tristan probably could've lunged backwards and rolled out of the building. Probably would have to run like hell away from it, but it was his best bet to escaping whatever the hell that thing was, Except--

Fuck, was she still sleeping?! Tristan glanced over. June was either still asleep or just starting to wake up. He didn't have time to grab her and escape, and the worst thing he could do besides fall victim to whatever the hell that abomination was was to let someone else fall for it the same way.

Only one way out of this now...

Tristan mustered up every ounce of courage he had as he looked the monster straight in the eye. Then he activated his Lux. Within a few seconds, three entire apparitions manifested behind him. They were made of black smoke, with blue, orange empty eyes. They stood still for a moment, before rushing straight forward. They burst through the window behind Tristan, lunging at and beating the Wall-Witch with all their unholy might.

He didn't know how useful his ability was now, but he didn't want to waste time seeing. He ran over to June, violently shaking her.

"Cmon! Cmon wake the fuck up, we need to go, now!"

He grasped her by the wrist and pulled her right onto her feet, charging out the front door and back onto the streets, trying to get the hell as far away from their exposed shelter as they could, leaving the Spirits he created to fight off the Outsider as long as they could.

By this point, Tristan lost count of time.

He and the girl he met, June, were the only normal they've seen in this warped version of Araminta, besides the massive group from when he first arrived. By this point, he stopped concerning himself on their absent presence. The biggest possibilities he settled on were as follows: They all got turned into mincemeat by the horde of monsters, dragged off to God knows where by the tentacles that came from the bottomless pit, or survived somehow and were squatting in the husk of the city like he and June were. Or maybe they found some magic portal out of here. Either way, they weren't Tristan's problem anymore.

Somehow, Tristan and June managed to escape the mob that closed in on them at the library. They found a means for climbing up and out onto the rooftops, where they hopped from roof to roof until they felt safe enough to quit running and take in their bearings. Obviously, they decided to stick together for safety, as they started looking for some sort of means of returning home. Until then, they just did their best to survive.

Surprisingly, actual survival wasn't too difficult. Most of the monsters in this warped version of Araminta were a lot less active and numerous. Even when they did see one or two, they hardly even noticed them and were easily avoided. Most of the houses, surprisingly, were also pretty well-stocked, giving them a lot of leeway to just crash in a house, helping themselves to the food. Still, running into both the tentacles and the monsters shook Tristan to his core. He insisted on keeping a rotating-watch system, while also trying to fortify their house of choice the best they could.

The two of them hunkered down in the living room. Tristan's choice of defense was a wooden plank, which he rhythmically slapped into his palm every few seconds while June slept. No problems so far, but he really didn't want to get caught with his pants down by God knows what.

Tristan didn't even bring his watch. He took it off before his nap on the flipside, and didn't even have the time to put it back on before getting spirited away by the light. How long had they been there? A few minutes? A couple hours? A day? More?? He had no idea. The best reference for time would've been the Sun, which... In this version of Araminta, sure liked hitting the snooze button. He didn't even see it budge since shit started hitting the fan. He felt incredibly frustrated. Despite the supernatural gravity of whatever hell he was thrown into, this all felt like a huge waste of time. What about his duties back in the normal world? Had the Horde struck again in his absence? Who would they have carved up next? Some homeless bum? An unlucky sucker? Someone else's little sister? Even brushing that shit aside, his mother probably would've been worried sick about him. Well, more than usual.

Tristan hurled his plank weapon at the wall in frustration, shattering the plywood and probably waking up Sleeping Beauty. Whatever.

"Goddammit", He said, almost surprised at the sound of his own voice, "I'm sick of sitting around here, hunkering in some abandoned house like rats. We really need to get moving. Find some way out of here."

Agatha Loom

Agatha quickly recovered from the horror and stress that came with getting taken off to a monster-ridden warped version of town over the next two days. Once she wasn't stressed out anymore, she returned to her normal, inquisitive state.

She retook to using the internet as her means of perusing for answers. Despite being a massive pillar of light that washed over the entire town, there wasn't a single report or news article about it. No accounts on social media, even. As far as it seemed, only she and the small group taken into that strange otherworld were the only ones who actually had accounts of it. After a good few hours of searching, she closed out her web browser and sighed in frustration.

Again, she found her gaze gradually being pulled outside of the window. She began to remember the exact details about the pillar; It erupted from the forest, as she could tell by it's rate of growth before it swallowed her whole last night. She couldn't quite gauge exactly where in the woods it came from, but knew it was definitely a good place to start.

Getting her things together, Agatha hustled down the stairs, just about to open the front door when her grandpa's voice called.

"Where do you think you're going, young lady?" He asked, sitting in his chair in front of the TV.

"I uh... Just heading out for a bit."

"Agatha, dear, where were you last night? I thought you were safe in your room, yet you came home later at night. What happened?"

"Just uh", Agatha thought of an excuse, "Hanging out with some friends."

Her grandpa turned around to look at her in mild surprise, then shrugged his shoulders and turned back around.

"Alright then. Don't stay out too late again."

"I won't. Bye!" Agatha called, rushing out the door. She went down a few blocks, hopped a bus, then got off at the forest entrance, walking along the road that cut into it. She didn't know what she would've found, nor was she certain she would have liked it.

As she walked, she eventually reached what had to be the epicenter. A massive glowing crater, surrounded by police tape. Nobody else was present, tho-- Wait.

Someone else was here. Jaden, the guy from the group in the otherworld last night. He stood next to the crater, looking down at it just as confused as she had been. She hung back a bit-- He hadn't noticed her yet. Her thoughts raced in her mind about what to say, before she suddenly just shouted.

"Hey!"

Wow, great reintroduction. Agatha felt she wasn't entirely the one in control when she called out at them. Maybe the Lady Bug was having a greater effect over her than she thought. Regardless, she revealed her own presence, quickly approaching Jaden.

"You came here looking for the cause of us getting abducted last night? Me too... Looks like we just found it" she noted, looking down at the crater they stood over.
Agatha Loom

Just as Agatha would've safely pulled Jaden from the mob closing in on him, a massive wave of force slammed right into her. It didn't immediately swat her out of the sky, but it did send her kapulting in a spin until she landed onto the ground, likely knocking Rita off in the process. Her heart began to race, until she saw a glowing purple light from within the warehouse. Faintly, she saw a woman reaching out with her arm from it.

"Safe!" The Lady Bug cried in Agatha's mind.

She raced over to the portal, swatting aside any of the few monsters in her path, before barreling into the front door. Once she was inside, she shifted back into her human form, falling to the ground, before scrambling back up and in through the portal.

Once she hit the ground on the other side, she finally let gravity of the situation take over her, breathing heavily in relief and panic.

"Thank you." She said simply, before she could even understand who rescued them or why.

Tristan Douge

"Shit, shit, shit uh... Probably these fucking things. These are worse. I really don't see any of those tentacles monsters closing in after us." Tristan reasoned, watching as the mob closed in on them, "But I don't think we can really make a choice."

The shambling horde of knife-handed monsters had indeed blocked off their escape. While it was probably possible to outrun them, they'd probably need to be olympic athletes to run between the cracks of their ranks before they condensed by this point. All four of the roads of the intersection were blocked up. Tristan checked the surrounding buildings frantically, looking for any they'd be able to reasonably defend themselves in. Besides a few more ramshackle warehouses and what were practically large concrete bricks, the best option seemed to be the large library they stood in front of.

"Damnit, cmon! Let's try in here!" He called, rushing up the steps and in through the door. In all honesty, he knew this was a dumb plan with hardly any thinking put into it, but it was better than getting shanked and cut up by got knows what those things were. His best idea was to probably try and fortify it with some furniture. Hopefully, they'd be able to reach the roof access somehow, and maybe be able to bunnyhop along the roofs without having to pass through the mob. As soon as they were both inside, Tristan slammed the door shut. He then grabbed at one of the nearest tables, shoving it along the ground and then pushing it up against the front door.

"Okay, now we gotta find some stairs. Maybe we can get to the rooftops, and find some sort of way to get the hell out of here." Tristan explained, as he continued desperately trying to move anything not nailed to the floor to the door and windows.

Agatha Loom

Agatha veered around cautiously as the streetlights burnt out, only to immediately reignite. When they did, the entire group was surrounded by shambling monstrosities.

To Agatha, they were abnormally tall with massive eyes. All of them were affixed directly on her, even as they reached closer proximity to other bystanders and obviously turned their bodily attention towards them.

There were far too many. Jaden, the dark-skinned man, shouted what was on all of their minds,

"Make a way out somehow!"

He then threw more blue spheres at the approaching crowd, Despite being able to subdue one of the reaching tentacles that grasped at him, it did little than force the creature he hit to recoil, before bearing down upon him. In retaliation, they threw up a blue energy shield, but were obviously stuck and unlikely to make their own escape. Kaitlyn made a better escape, riding along a wave projection that simply let her bypass straight over the heads of the crowd, as well as knocking a few of them down and out of the way.

"Fly!" The Lady Bug intoned. Suddenly, Agatha remembered she had that ability, despite her massive size. Peering around, she saw-- Rita. Out of the entire bunch, she was probably the most helpless, only carrying a rock to nervously fend for herself. Agatha scuttled straight up to them, before letting out a loud chitter, one that very probably scared the crap out of them more than the approaching mob. Agatha then pushed her head forward between Rita's legs, hopefully giving a signal of some sort for her intents. She then started lifting her up off the ground, trying to pull Rita back and onto the small space towards the back of her head yet still in front of her wings, forcibly mounting her atop the sedan-sized ladybug.

After a few seconds, Agatha's wings started fluttering rapidly, letting her gradually rise up and off the ground, despite her massive size. She then flew straight over the heads of the mob, avoiding their grasps and gropes at her as she completely bypassed them. Her first target was straight over Jaden, who was still struggling to keep off one of the monsters with his shield. With a swift swing of her front leg, she knocked the creature right off and to the ground. She then lowered herself in the air slightly, holding one of her legs out to Jaden as a sort of monkey-bar for him to grab onto.

Tristan kept running through the interwinding city, until exhaustion finally dropped on him. He stopped near a large wooden pole, grasping onto it as he rapidly inhaled and exhaled air, deciding to try and get his bearings and take in the surrounding area. He stopped at an intersection, with the biggest visible building being the public library. He was content to just stand around there, letting him recover his strength, before he set off again. Obviously, it seemed the monsters from earlier weren't as interested in him. He didn't know how things went-- Did they manage to defend themselves, or did they all get pulled off to god knows where? He wasn't very sure. All he wanted to do right now was find a way to get back--

"Hey! Hey! Guy, wait a second! Over here!" He heard a voice call.

Tristan turned his head, looking over across the intersection. There stood a bright-red haired woman, calling and hollering after him. She didn't look very familiar; He didn't remember seeing if she was with the group earlier. Well, she didn't look like an impossibly long tentacle with faces along it. That was trustworthy in his book. He made a brief jog over towards her, before sharply responding to her calls.

"Quiet! This place is really dangerous." He warned, scanning around himself carefully, "Did you see that pillar of light too?" he asked, in a hushed voice.

Suddenly, the street lights burnt out, for a brief moment, before they turned back on. When they did, Tristan could see in the distance a mob of strange creatures shambling towards him. They all had no faces, and blooded right hands with incredibly sharp fingers. They each casually walked towards him, flexing and sharpening their razor fingers.

"Oh shit."

Tristan hung around near the Warehouse. He shot a few careful glances at each of the other people still lurking about. He saw some of the other people who tried to leave walking back after him-- Either they weren't too indifferent to staying together with the others, or they were equally disappointed by the chasm. He checked most of them carefully, looking for any Aura signs of their misdeeds. Anyone here guilty of something?

After a few empty searches, he decided to stop. No good in trying to pick a bone with people you're stuck with.

He then noticed the sun went from quickly setting to practically gone as a quick wave of darkness washed over them, followed by the streetlights activating. Well that was weird... Apparently the city was abandoned but with perfectly functioning lights?

Moments later, he saw massive, towering tentacles of flesh rising from the Chasm he just left. Massive might have been a bit of an overstatement, but long certainly wasn't. Printed all along them were faces... Faces that, just for a moment, looked too much like-- Fuck. They managed to slink all the way from the short walk to the chasm and straight towards the Warehouse. Tristan lunged out of the way, even though none of them were coming straight for him, landing to the side alley of the warehouse. The tentacles then crashed right into the building, smashing through windows and the door, grabbing a handful of people. The one rocker dude who walked out on trying to follow them, as well as two other girls, one of which being the one that immediately panicked and clung to a wall.

Agatha resumed panic, even greater than before, when the tentacles grasped at her, before pulling her out of the Warehouse and waving her in the air. On them were the faces of her own parents, as well as her grandparents. Her own parent's visage was that of frustration and agony, moaning and growling, contorted with rage and sorrow. Jeffrey's face was mindlessly hollering in ignorant fear, as if it was just as desperate as Agatha was. The only calm visage was her own grandmother's closed eyes and still mouth, resting peacefully amist the confusion. Agatha squirmed helplessly-- The tentacles were extremely thick, holding her in an iron grasp.

Rather than try and fight those things, Tristan's first instinct was to run. Quickly scrambling back up to his feet, Tristan ran as fast as he could away from the warehouse and in the opposite direction of the Chasm and warehouse.

Agatha continued to writhe in panic as she was pulled off to god knows where-- When suddenly, she felt an equivalent force pull back against her, stopping her from being dragged off by the large tendrils. Stilling herself for a moment, she saw a massive pair of blue lobster tentacles pinching the tentacle grasping her, keeping her in place. With yet another wave of renewed Clarity, Agatha saw others using extranormal abilities to defend themselves. A brilliant flash of light nearly blinded Agatha, yet managed to incinerate one of the tentacles abducting Kayla. The man they tried to capture followed suit, with a loud explosion of sound freeing him from his binds.

That's when Agatha found that she didn't need to worry about prudence. Probably shouldn't have in the first place, but still. Agatha reached deep into her mind. There, the Lady Bug buzzed aggressively in panic. Without even another mental word, Agatha pulled themselves together. A wave of blue, wisped light surrounded Agatha, itching down to her very form, before exploding outward in a massive, sedan-sized ladybug as the two beings became one. Just the sudden burst of size might've been enough to break the tentacle's grasp, but for good measure she stabbed into it with her spindly legs, tearing at the facial mockeries embedded along it. For added measure, the lady bug swarm of lady bugs came to her aid, landing on the monster and delivering a series of weak but plentiful bites. The tentacle then let loose and retreated from her, dropping her. She hit the ground with a hard thud, but suffered virtually no damage. After rolling on her back for a bit, she eventually flipped over, rolling upright and letting her antennae shift.

Alright, lets go back, Agatha communicated.

No. Danger. Stay., the Lady Bug disagreed. This prevented the two of them from separating, causing them to remain in the form of a massive ladybug, even as the last of the tentacles dropped their victims and gave apparent sign of retreat...

"Jesus." Tristan shook his head, as he and the rest of the group climbed over the hill, and saw the massive chasm that cut straight through the city. Welp, so much for just running right back along home. The Chasm itself was weird enough, stretching infinitely on to both horizons, as far as they could see. The actual distance towards the other end wasn't too far, but Tristan got the feeling neither he wasn't alone in thinking that jumping just wasn't worth the risk.

"... Okay, I think we got the answer to all the 'Where da' fuck are we' questions" Jaden deduced.

"Well... We're not in Araminta any more, that's for sure. But then where the heck are we?", Said David, the reporter. He vaguely remembered them. Not soon after Anne died he came down, asking a few questions. Not that he was any fucking help at the time. He'd been snapping pictures since they got there, enough to make the girl that led them out of the warehouse uncomfortable enough to turn back the way they came. Enough to make the girl Tristan left after uncomfortable enough to run off back the way they came.

"Well, I see two possibilities. One, the world just ended. Two, we died and we're in hell", Tristan mused, folding his arms and turning his attention towards him. Most of the others in their group started kicking rocks and pushing gravel, as if just to tell how deep the chasm really was. Shrugging, Tristan decided to test his own hypothesis, leaning over the edge and spitting out a wad of saliva. He then turned and leaned his ear carefully, listening for the drip at the very bottom. After a few seconds, it never came. Standing back to take a more careful look at the chasm, Tristan noticed that the sun was about to set. A hell of a lot faster than it should've. Either that or they were just spending a lot of time standing around like idiots.

"Okay, Fuck. Looks like we're stuck here. In a place that's like, but not quite, home. The sun looks like it's starting to set. Unless one of us has a pair of wings, we're stuck here. If we can't find our way home, we're better off just sticking together until we can figure things out", Tristan pounded out before he turned on his heel and walked back down the hill, "I'm heading back to the warehouse. I really think we should stick together, at least for a little bit."

Tristan returned to the warehouse, which was still packed with most of the survivors.

Agatha Loom

Agatha continued her panicked, exposed breathing, right up until one of them, a large asian woman, decided to finally breathe some sense into her.

"Calm down," The woman softly said, expressing a bit of care yet also absolute intolerance for her bullshit, "You're acting crazy."

"Yeah, calm your giant ass down," Another woman said, a lot more relaxed about the whole situation, if not being outright smug. "If anyone has been abducted by aliens, it's me."

After a brief moment, Agatha finally calmed down. She was being a bit overdramatic. They might have all been in a compromising situation, but being an absolute spaz was a one-way road to nowhere helpful. Her breathing slowed greatly, taking deep breathes and calm recollection.

"Okay, okay. I'm fine... S-Sorry, I just got a little worked up." Agatha apologized, turning her attention to the woman. Once her surroundings weren't a vivid mess, she was actually able to recognize a few faces. The woman consoling her was Kaitlyn. The other girl... She hadn't remembered seeing her before. Maybe she was from out of town?

"Agatha." She introduced herself, holding out a handshake to Kaitlyn before she managed to stand herself back up, brushing herself off.

"I think we should get a move on," Katie suggested, peering out the window. Agatha looked out as well. She saw the sun, still on the horizon, indicating that maybe not that much time had passed at all since they blacked out. What she did note, however, was that it was setting just a smidge faster than it normally would've. Soon enough, night fall would've come down on their heads.

"That's a good idea. Those guys that left a bit earlier would imply that we're not exactly trapped here," Agatha agreed with her, nodding.
Agatha Loom

Agatha crept through the internet. It was getting late in the evening, and she only had fifteen or so minutes of computer-time left before grandpa kicked her off.

In her usual inquisitive nature, she spent the last week or so looking into various strange phenomena around Araminta. No, not anything right out in the open like the Black Shuck, or the supposed Horde killings, no. Those were too obvious. Instead, she did her investigation by rummaging through the lesser occurrences around Araminta. Woman wins lottery and quits job, Turns out ticket was a dud. Strange lights across river: Myth or Marvel? Almost every day there was some bizarre thing that demanded further inquiry.

As she continued rummaging through, she had increasing difficulty in reassuring herself against the idea of being crazy. Moreover, she tried looking into the origin of her own amulet, one that she still continued to wear around her neck. Where had it come from? Why had it sealed away the Thing it had within? She went across a wide range of sources-- Jewelry websites, forums, lost property rewards, nothing. No rhyme or reason to the amulet or it's make. After almost three months, her search turned up nothing. And she had a faint idea in the back of her mind, that for every place she went searching, trying to find answers, practically shouting in a crowded digital room for info, she was making a trail for herself. A trail that someone could follow.

And it seemed very well that someone finally followed it through.

The slightly-setting sun cast a light upon the room. She didn't catch first glance, but noticed the sudden spike in luminosity, turning her head out the window. Just as she spun in her chair and opened the curtains, the towering pillar of light had blinded her in engulfing light, before the world went black.

Tristan Douge

Tristan had completely abandoned a conventional sleep cycle. Between investigating The Horde, understanding his abilities, and working to deliver just desserts to the bastards in this town, his sleeping pattern had practically evolved/devolved into "lay down when tired, stand up when not".

He first thought it was early morning when he woke up on the couch, given the dim level of light outside. Then, quick look at the microwave clock later, nope. Nearly 7pm, fuck. Tristan sighed. He opened the fridge, grabbing a glass from the cupboard before pouring himself a cup of milk. He then stepped over to the front cabinet, leaning down to open it and pulling out the chocolate syrup. Opening the drawer next to him, he pulled out a spoon. After pouring a good amount of syrup into the glass of milk, he spun it with his spoon with one hand, pulling out his phone with the other and checking the Araminta Times for any updates...

... Nope, no murders or anything else notable happened since he fell asleep. Well, that was a brief reassurance. Looks like the whole town didn't completely hinge on Tristan having his eyes open. Once he finished stirring, he tossed the spoon in the dishwasher and picked up the glass, taking a sip as he turned around to gaze out the window to the barely-setting sun. And that's when he noticed the massive beam of light erecting, off in the distance...

Was it getting bigger?

???

Before Agatha fully returned to consciousness, she heard a brief interplay of voices around her. Like that feeling when your body is awake, but your mind is still asleep. A good two or three minutes passed, and Agatha resumed consciousness, finding herself in an abandoned warehouse, with several other people, some still asleep, others waking up. A few were even in the state of still waking up as she was in.

Agatha immediately panicked, refusing to take in any further details as she loudly gasped, sitting up and rolling herself backwards until she slid up against the wall, looking around in absolute panic and terror.

"Oh Jesus Christ, What the hell was that light?! You said you guys all saw it too? What the fuck are we doing here? They're after us, aren't they?! We're all gonna fucking die, aren't we?!" Agatha quickly asked and declared, looking around her surroundings while breathing heavily.

Tristan reawoke soon after, taking his apparent kidnapping much better. To him, it was just another couple minutes of rest.

"Ngh... Shit. Where the hell are we? You guys saw that beam of light too, right?" He asked, as he rose back to his feet, stumbling before managing to maintain a proper stance.

He saw one of the people in the warehouse, a girl, just storm out through the front door. Oh, so they weren't locked in? Tristan heard some people mumble to themselves about stopping her-- Something about not doing it because of racism? Fuck that, it was almost dark. Shouldn't just go out there alone. Tristan followed her to the door.

"Hey! Where the hell are you going?! It's almost night, you can't just wander around all by yourself, it's fucking dangerous!" He called, following her out, taking the opportunity to take in their surroundings properly.
