Sapphire Rode - Physical Education

Sapphire was tempted to throw something sharp at Aurellius but alas she'd neglected to bring any small sharp disposable weapons to PE. She of course still had her daggers but she preferred to keep those under wraps. Not everyone in the arena would have been able to see where she'd gotten them from given the angles of sight present in her and Oswald's sparring match and besides if the teacher saw her pull out deadly weapons in class she may be prevented from bringing them again and Sapphire never went anywhere unarmed.

Sapphire got slightly nervous when the teacher ordered them to run two miles. That was several laps around the track, it was not that Sapphire was not used to running or even that she disliked it, on the contrary nothing really compared to the feeling of the wind in her hair, the problem was the rib she'd broken in Forever Fall during their initiation. It would need another week to heal properly. During armoury it had disturbed her how quickly she'd become out of breath because of that rib. If she couldn't run, if she couldn't move faster than the next strike, she was done for.

However Sapphire Rode was not someone disposed to complaining or letting injury remove her from the field of battle. She'd grown up in a home where injury was no excuse for skipping combat training. So she began to run.

Sapphire kept her torso as straight as she could to compensate and made her best efforts to keep from breathing too hard on her left side. She could manage two miles, it was easy. Yet something was wrong, normally she'd outstrip most anyone, even Geni who was currently running ahead with impeccable technique but now she was barely managing to keep up with the middle of the pack. Her chest was burning, pain climbing with every breath she took. When they were past the mile and a half marker Sapphire slowed before her legs gave out beneath her, she collapsed to her knees but refused to let herself fall completely. Sapphire was shaking all over and her breath was coming in ragged. Maybe it would have been better to sit this one out.
Hey, the winning entries for those first two character creations, are they going to be introduced as characters later on in the RP?
Navi Navi smiled a little as Link thanked her for taking the reins and leading him out of the city. She'd become accustomed to spending time as Link's companion once more and every now and again she forgot that he was not her Link and the two men indeed had many differences. Navi was not altogether comfortable with Midna accompanying them on this journey. She was powerful, she was rash, and she was arrogant and those three things never mixed into something good. But the fairy supposed such a wild card was best kept close where it could be watched. If Midna was not with them Nayru knows were she might end up and what she might start doing. Navi's blood (or at least the white iridescent liquid Hyruleans would have called blood) froze in her veins when she heard mention of returning to the forest. Of course in the scope of there quest it made sense, the Great Deku Tree always had some helpful insights and if any man wanted to contact the Great Fairy the forest was now the only place to do it. Navi was not in the wider loop of the fairy world but she knew they'd cut themselves off from the human world, fairy fountains dry, the fair folk themselves gone, the Great Fairies none responsive to prayer. All evidence suggested that they had withdrawn deep within the Fairy Realm but of course that invite home did not extend to Navi or any of the renegade fairies. Still Navi herself could not return to the forest, at one time she had called it home but now? Navi could still hear the voice of the Great Deku Tree rumbling in her ears. Thine crime has cost everything Navi, go from this place, the forest no longer welcomes thee. GO! For I vow to thee that if thou wouldst ever set foot on Farore's domain again the very earth shall swallow you up in vengeance. It had not been so much the threat that scared Navi as the sound of the Deku Trees voice. He had always been a great and benevolent protector of all the world's creatures, never had she heard him raise his voice except in that one moment of pure anger. It had been as though her own father had thrown her from his house, as if her family had deserted her, Navi had cried that night for all she had lost and even more so for all she had cost others. Perhaps the presence of the hero would protect her. Either way it did not matter, Link would go to the forest one way or another, with Navi or without her. If he was to have any hope of navigating it's depths he needed her, she couldn't let him end up like her hero had. So Navi numb to sensation allowed herself to be helped onto the back of Epona's saddle. Her fairy form was far more efficient means of travel but if this truly was it for her then she wanted to enjoy it. To smell the air and feel the wind in her face one last time. As they rode Link began to hum the ancient Song of the Forest, in Navi's time Saria the Forest Sage had claimed it as her own melody but it was much older than that. The melody when sung through the right receptacle forged a bond between the heart of the forest and the one singing. Navi began to sing the song alone with Link and as her voice gave shade to each note, it brought forth images of lush forests and relaxing waters, of the dew on the grass and the smell of bark on the trees, of Life in it's purest form. Navi sung those notes until Epona arrived at the entrance to the Lost Woods that protected the Kikiri Forests. --- Zelda Zelda listened with interest to Shadow Link speak. He claimed to be the Hero's shadow which as far as the legends were aware he was, though the next thing he said was most intriguing. He told her while the Hero was reincarnated over and over again in different forms there had only ever been a single Shadow Link. Did this mean that he existed throughout space and time. But they said he was only ever active at the same time as the Hero, so perhaps some sort of hibernation period was enacted upon him whenever the Hero was not there for him to challenge? If that was true however then why attempt to kill him? It seemed to Zelda that Link and Shadow Link existed as two sides of the same coin the shadow could not exist without the caster, so why would he try to destroy the thing that brought him into being in the first place. Zelda was so engrossed in inventing theories on Shadow Link that she almost missed his next question. She considered whether to answer or not, one one hand she could deny she knew what he was talking about but then again why bother Ganondorf was aware that the holders of the Triforce of Wisdom possessed the ability to communicate with the other two thirds of the golden power and it wasn't like there was anything he could do to stop her from doing it. Then an idea hit her. "I will make you a deal, let us turn this into a game, a question for a question. You can ask me anything and as long as it does not compromise my people or my land I will endeavor to answer honestly, if it does then I will inform you thus and you are free to choose a new question. The same applies to you. As for you first question, I've been able to use the Triforce as a means of communication nearly my whole life, but without someone holding the Triforce of Courage it was more or less useless. It can't exactly be used as a means of eavesdropping and I don't believe your master and I have ever had anything worth discussing." Zelda was quite for a moment thinking about exactly what she wanted to know about the Shadow. She decided on the thing that she most questioned about his existence. "You claim to be unlike the Hero only one in number. If this is true then the Hero's Shadow mentioned in all the legends is you. This makes you as old as the Cycle of the Goddesses itself and yet there is no mention of you appearing at a time when the Hero did not. So you must have to coexist with him correct, if there is not Hero, there in no Shadow. Why then do you try to destroy him if he is the very thing that allows you to exist in this realm?"
I've been waiting on Midna but if you insist.
Aurellius is going to eventually get slapped by someone, isn't he? I can bet on it safely.

I was thinking of having Sapphire throw something at him, unfortunately she doesn't have any small sharp objects on her person at the moment, her shotguns are in her locker. She does still her have her daggers but I figure if the coach sees her pull those out she won't be allowed to wear them as bracelets anymore and it's a bit of a security blanket thing. Maybe I'll just settle for a slap, or she can bring some Shurikens to the next PE class.
Sapphire Rode - Armoury ==> Physical Education

Professor Chatsworth didn't make any more comment on Sapphire's excuse for why she'd not returned to class on time. Sapphire decided to take this as a sign that he believed her, regardless if he didn't he wasn't planning on busting her this moment.

Sapphire spent the rest of class sketching out ideas for a handheld clamp that could secure itself to a wall in a tenth of a second and detach just as quickly. It also needed to fit in the palm of her hand as well as being able to support two hundreds pounds, to be on the safe side and any sort of shock force that might be applies to it without falling off the wall.

As the bell rang Oswald, her opponent from Combat class approached her laughing about how she'd seen his semblance before there rematch. Sapphire had taken note of the way he'd vanished and reappeared in the middle of the conflict that had seized the class. Of course seeing a semblance and understanding it were too very different things. "My first instinct would have been to call it teleportation, but that is skill useful in close combat yet you didn't use it so it must be something different. You relocated too fast for it to be invisibility. That of course leaves augmented speed. There something special about it though, if you could move that fast in normal action you would have kicked my ass at the sparring matches. No my guess is... what? It allows you to cover long distances very quickly but its got some sort of minimum distance so using it close up is useless right? Well how'd I do?"

As she spoke Sapphire was packing up her sketchbook as well as her weapons in preparation for the next class, she was pretty sure she'd enlisted in Physical Education. Survival hadn't really held any appeal for her and it wasn't like she really needed Practice. Sapphire just hoped that it wouldn't just be work outs every class. While she didn't mind a bit of muscle building every now and again too much wasn't good for her. A lot of muscles meant that reflexes would be lowered just having to use it all. Her arms and legs despite being more powerful wouldn't move as quickly. On the whole she was hoping that PE would involve some unarmed combat, or perhaps parkour.

Sapphire didn't give much thought to what Oswald would think of her walking out of a conversation but she found herself not thinking it over too much. "I gotta get to class Oswald, see you later." She walked out the door.

Sapphire's current attire wasn't really suited to gym class. It was flashy and functional during a fight but for PE shouldn't want something that was a little looser. She stopped by her dorm room grabbing a set of gym appropriate clothing before using the girl's locker room to change. She came out wearing comfy running shoes, a pair of skin tight sweats and a tank top that showed off her figure. Not that she was trying, they were just the most function exercise wear she'd brought with her. The only thing from her normal outfit that Sapphire kept wearing was the green bandanna around her neck and the white gloves that hid the scars on her arms.

The overall effect was a less severely looking Sapphire somewhat lacking in her natural effect to make someone think she wanted them dead if they looked at her. Of course she still had a scathing glare on her face but otherwise she looked like a totally different girl as she started a pre workout set of Sun Salutations her coach had taught her, modified to reduce pressure on her damaged rib.
Oh for the contest is it supposed to be our characters and our teammates not just some invented persons? I just noticed I'm in all the same classes as Geni, Amy and Ivan.
Just a note, after my initial posting for the Contest I realized that I'd not placed any headwear for Avendell and so I went back and added a headscarf that she uses in battle to protect her face from her own dust attacks. If you didn't go back and reread it yesterday you wouldn't have seen it. Just thought I'd let you know.
Didn't he grow up outside the kingdoms sleeping on the ground? I thought he was an orphan. Sapphire's dad is creepily calm and his twelve year old sister is strangely insightful.
