Despite the horrible conditions of traveling through dangerous channels, the creator of this technology left out one thing. Or more importantly, she did not become aware of this until after the fact. Within the television universe, strange beings have appeared. They are deemed as "Chasers." There are various types of Chasers, but one thing is certain, they are all hostile. Their motives are unclear as they just wish harm on the party trapped in TV land.

A few executives have issued a survey out to the public. They are interested in finding what specific things people enjoy on television. By using this survey, they can find out a person's likes and dislikes and other variables such as age group and gender. They promise it will help improve television programming.

In most video games, these would be called "classes." Because we are inside a television, we will now refer to these as "genres." Your genre will determine your character's power, weaknesses, and strengths. Picking a genre will also give you a boost in certain shows. For instance, a Sci-Fi fan will do incredibly well if the channel centered around Star Wars.

Genres Coming Soon: [Travel] [Crime] [Fantasy] [Historical] [Politics] [Slice of Life] [Western]
Sub-Genres Coming Soon.
Dual-Genres Coming Soon.

This is the channel guide. Previously explored programmes can be found here. Roleplayers will be able to choose the television show or tv parody on every other time through a vote.

Television is weird and oddly addicting. Well, it used to be back then. Cable service is not utilized that much considering the start of streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and other video applications. Even then, people now would record only certain shows or only newer episodes.

Channel surfing is dying. It did provide entertainment for those who had nothing better to do. Hell, it might even help those who do not have the luxuries of streaming services and DirecTV. Channel surfing was a pastime that even the family committed themselves toward. Nothing was better than scanning through mutiple television programs. Charlie Chaplin, the beloved actor, claimed television would not last long after its first debut. I think television can still hold up a bit longer.

Executive producers just need to stop pitching the same shows over and over again. They need to halt the cancellation of very popular programmings. You guys remember Firefly? No more reality television shows that we never considered watching; I never asked for vapid programs like the ones on MTV.

Despite all the crap on television and all the complaints I have, it’s still entertainment. I still find my eyes glued to the monitor. I think it’s an addiction, but little by little, tv is improving. I feel that right now, television is just on a downward slope. And I have just the procedure to make it exciting again! I have just the solution to make cable television the best thing in the wolrd again!

“You have been invited amongst one of your friends to attend a television viewing party. The party regards the season premiere of a critically acclaimed show. Multiple hashtags and pop culture references emanated from this series. Twitter blew up as fans counted the days from the hiatus. This show built up a lot of hype.

You decide to go to the series premiere. Most of the people attending are people who you have met before. Even then, you know the host. The person hosting the event always seemed a bit odd, but who isn’t weird? The host did have a fallout though given one of their shows is up for cancellation though you paid it no mind.

Everyone communicated a bit with each other before the program started. In thirty minutes, everyone gathered around the high definition flat screen. The commercials were coming to a close and transitioned into the opening song. Unfortunately, the television immediately turned to static.

Almost all of the party-goers booed and began throwing the commemorative snacks at the screen. Some people began to whine while others sighed and thanked the Lord they decided to Tivo the episode. The silence suddenly broke when the tv acted strangely. Weirdly enough, the television had a gravitational pull.

Nobody saw it coming as the tv pulled various picture frames and bowls of food into the screen. At that exact moment, the flatscreen increased the strength. People began flying into the screen one by one. People tried holding onto the furniture, but the sofa and coffee table got sucked in as well. All throughout this madness, the host was not present.

All of the people attending became trapped in a sort of a limbo world. By observing the surroundings, everyone seemed to have been transported in a bar or a saloon. No colors resided in this place -- only black and white remained.

An old television set on a wooden stage began to flicker on. The host of the party reared her ugly mug on the screen. “Hello, folks! Don’t worry, this was all planned out! I would go on a speal about the unappreciation of channeling surfing, but it’s all just a cliche. I’m not your bad guy. I’m merely a researcher.”

She clapped her hands enthusiastically. “I am bringing channeling surfing to a new level! As some of you know, my show is dying and will become officially canceled in a few weeks. Though I have a new show and technology that includes the lot of you! Your objective is to pass through all 101 channels! If you guys can make it through the programming, then that would be amazing. Essentially, you guys are my guinea pigs. I also wouldn’t try dying. Mainly because you kind of die as well...yeah, not so great, but I still think this is very innovative.”

This roleplay focuses on the cliche that is known as the "Trapped in TV Land" trope. Shows such as Fairy Oddparents, Supernatural, Doctor Who, and even the Simpson have experienced this trope. Generally, the group of protagonists is trapped in the world of literature, a video game or as it always has been- tv. The heroes of the story usually try to find a way of living in their new situation or look for a way to escape. What comes next is the party jumping channel to channel while hitting a multitude of cliched worlds and thin parodies.

This roleplays is that but much bigger. The party must pass through 101 channels. Now I wanted things to be a bit different. There are different classes depending on your favorite genre. Experience points are in this roleplay so as to gain new abilities and skills for your character. If the channel is currently playing a genre that your character favors, s/he will experience a boost in strength. Passing a channel means defeating the boss enemy or resolving the situation of the given story.

Dubstepp pulled out another flower from the ground. He straightened his back and wiped the sweat from his brow; putting his hands on his side, he took a deep breath. At this moment, he took in the sights of the garden. Despite what he thought earlier, the scenery was admirable. Dubstepp blinked a couple of times, he observed the number of players and NPCs roaming around the area. The lack of hostile monsters made this place into a safe haven. This would become a hot spot if not for the ridiculous distance.

Rubbing the dirt off of his hands, he turned to his pet rabbit. Totoro plucked giants handfuls of plants. His cheeks were full as well as he tried feeding himself while working. "Alright, that's the last of it. We would've been done a lot faster, but I decided to pluck more for personal use if it comes to that. This place is hella far," Dubstepp stretched his arms as he spoke. The trainer and pet duo managed to collect 100 flowers, twice the amount requested from the Needlan. The musician felt he would need flowers in the future. Best to collect now than never.

Dubstepp took a seat on the ground and opened up his inventory. He withdrew the second dry biscuit he had and the jar of honey he bought earlier. Knowing the trip back wasn't going to be easier, he took a few minutes of resting and eating before heading back. He needed to regain his lost energy. The sweetness of the honey did wonders for the biscuit.

After finishing his biscuit, Dubstepp closed the jar of honey and sent it back to his inventory. He then continued to get Totoro's attention; they began walking back to the town.

Damn, I'm glad this came back - I spotted it just before my hiatus and it looks like there's still some activity. Have you got space for 2 more? Me and my friend may join.

Yeah, no problem!

The more the merrier.
