Sorry about my lack of appearances. At this point Im taking a much needed hiatus from here after 5 long years. Not sure when I'll be back, but it won't be for awhile... sorry about that... : (

Once upon a time, I used to cheer for May the 4th... now I cry with disappointment. *Except Clone Wars S7 and the Mandalorian - they are awesome*

Also this is hillarious...

Alright then, I just added Soldier 76's backstory. More of a copy and paste thing yeah, buuuuut you know.

Just when the hell can we start this RP? lol
@Lmpkio I-fields usually don't work on kinetic-based weaponry, so it wouldn't have any effect on say, a machine gun then?

It having a one-layer forcefield generator that is rather power-hungry and lacks effectiveness against kinetic weaponry should be noted in the weaknesses, I think.

Ok sure, I'll edit both of those in.

So it's essentially an I-field then?

If so, it'd probably be a massive energy hog, so the Paladin likely wouldn't be able to function for long periods of time. Do the generators overheat easily?

A weaker variant yeah.

It can turn it on and off manually. Like say in the middle of battle the Paladin needs to retreat, then it can use the last of its energy reserves and boost outta there, while also having small-medium projectiles not be able to damage it as much as its going away you know? Besides, the physical shield is the mech's primary mode of defense anyways so there's that.
@Lmpkio How effective is it against beam weaponry?

It also can deflect small to medium powered lasers, but cannot withstand stronger, high-powered, beams.
@Crimmy

Fair enough and I figured so. (Just so many questions)

I can imagine it would've sold it to other military organizations so yeah. I just couldn't think of a valid program at the moment.

And yeah, it can't withstand strong kinetic force.

Mutual-assured destruction. Given that most HPVs seem to be powered by fusion reactors, the threat of war escalating into a nuclear one is still quite relevant. Why does NASA need a military robot?

What does the forcefield affect? How does it work?

Ok, when I mentioned NASA, I didn't say that the Paladin works for them. Just the generators. The mech is only and solely created by the IREC.

The forcefield covers the entire mech in a thin layer of shielding that can handle deflecting some stray projectiles. Fire at the shield enough and it will be disabled. Only missile projectiles and melee weapons can easily strike through it.

(Look if there's problems with my mech you don't like, please let me know and give suggestions on how to fix it)
@Lmpkio Where exactly does IREC operate from? To what organisations does it sell its HPVs to? There haven't really been any major large-scale conflicts in a while, given that MAD could still apply in this era. Also, a portable, HPV-sized forcefield generator seems to be an overly large energy hog.

IREC operates on Earth... uhh, the organizations it sells its HPVs to? I guess NASA being one of them. And MAD? Tried looking at the intro post and I have no idea what MAD is. Ok then, just a one layer HPV generator can do instead of having two layers.
@Crimmy Oh scuse me. I just woke up so I'm a little all over the place. Eh, what wars are available for me to choose?
