What's left?

You can see which traits have already been picked at the top of the OOC.
1. Nation Name: Socialist Union of Voskiya

2. Head of State: Chairman Dominik Luczynski, 44

3. Political Alignment during the Most Atrocious War: Entered the War a Pact Nation. Ended the War a Neutral Nation following the Winter Revolution of 1915.

4. Culture:
The great experiment, a nation of socialist principle and theory forged within the harsh anvil of war and winter. The butcher's bill of the Most Atrocious War stands tall, amidst the millions of lives claimed by the 6-year war can states and nations be counted, the Voskiyan Commonwealth was one such casualty. Faced with a buckling front and internal unrest, the blizzards of the 1915 winter oversaw more then just to near collapse of the Commonwealth's allies in the Pact of Unity but the utter collapse of the Voskiyan Commonwealth to discontent rebels and parties of the radical left during the Winter Revolution of 1915, and the subsequent formation of the Union of Voskiya from the ashes. Following it's ascension, the new worker's state was quick to end it's involvement in the Atrocious War and instead sought to centralize it's rule while the world continued to turn upon it's axis and tear itself to pieces for a further four years.

The Voskiyan Union has existed for a mere 4 years though in that time the Trade Union Congress has been swift with the implementation of Syndicalist and Socialist theory. The Union of Voskiya is a decentralized state ruled by directly elected regional councils under the jurisdiction of the national Trade Union Congress. Currently the economic ethos of the government is not one of an entirely state directed economy, but instead allows for some economic freedom at the local level backed up by strong workers' rights, welfare support and a democratization of the workplace in the form of co-operatives while the 'commanding heights' of the economy such as the coal industry are nationalized and run by their respective Trade Unions with supervision from the Congress. In 1916 it was also established that Voskiya was to be a secular state, with religion being incompatible with the spirit of scientific materialism following a decree that forbade the public teaching of religion though accepted that citizens may teach and may be taught religion privately.

Culturally the Socialist Union is distinct. A state of socialism and secularism in an age of monarchs and capitalists. The worker's state enjoys an age of relative freedom and experimentation as the new Union seeks to discover it's own unique culture and society. As encouraged by the central government, a variety of trends, be it in art or literature, in numerous schools, some traditional and others radically experimental have proliferated under the new government, with an extensive interest by the state in the burgeoning film industry as a means to communicate with the masses.

Such is life in the young Union of Voskiya as it seeks to forge it's own identity and power in the post-war world.
Just so everybody knows, we've set up a Discord server for this RP: Discord Link

This RP is looking nice! Will get to work on a CS shortly.

Is protective clothing such as body armour or environmental suits something we will be able to purchase from the catalogue?
Interested! Will keep an eye on this.

Diplomatic Initiative to Thecia

Count Phillip von Meyer paced back and forth before the Thecian ministers seated before him, his hands clasped behind the back of his frock coat. "Now, this is no easy question and there are no easy answers. War is a dreadful, though sometimes necessary thing. When a cause is just and the enemy terrible, there are times when force is the only appropriate response to defend one's integrity and people.

Now I know many of you will have read the treaty laid out before you, the terms of which are negotiable, and you will have also have heard of the war Tyria-Redania finds itself embroiled in. You see, we too was met with such a choice, a choice of whether to back-down to those who sought to undermine and threaten us, or to fight. To take to the field and meet our foes with force. A similar choice now faces this fine Kingdom of Thecia. The Veletians, a vile opponent to peace and the existing status quo of the Continent, have made no secret of their hatred for the Thecians, those whom they govern suffer at the hands of unjustifiable laws while their boasts of martial might can only hold darker promises of war and invasion. They are a threat to us all, and that choice, whether Thecia will fight or retreat before this encroaching power, falls to you now. I ask, will Thecia stand with Tyria-Redania in facing this vile foe?"

Count Phillip von Meyer, Diplomat of the Imperial Diplomatic Corps of the Tyro-Redanian Empire, circa 1900

The Kalpian Arms Deal

At the fronts war was being waged in all it's cruel glory, a bloody maelstrom where lives were snuffed out forever to a cacophony of rifle shots, spitting machine guns and to the scream and boom of artillery shells. Soldiers of the Empire sat in foxholes on the Veletian Front high in the Gabrelle mountains waiting for the next convoy to make that treacherous ascent to their positions, or wondering when the next snows would fall. Men on the Itheraen Front sheltered in their positions to the backdrop of the constant bangs of artillery barrages, all the while awaiting that order to advance once more. To the north they stared out from the shattered windows of storefronts and buildings as they held the city of Eisenstadt against the Veletian invaders. Everywhere the Empire's sons were fighting and dying, though with a vengeance they were giving as good as they got, if not more.

The war would not be waged and won solely on the battlefields however, but through logistics and supplies, and the drawing rooms and offices of those who could assure them. For this the Imperial Diplomatic Corps were to be the frontline fighters as Ambassadors from the Empire opened negotiations with Oslad and Kalpia.

Edgar Bain, the Tyro-Redanian Ambassador to Oslograd and good friends of the Boletarian Count Rusak, worked to negotiate and secure the support of Yegerov's Duma in allowing the movement of ammunition and rifles purchased from Kalpia to be allowed to travel through Osladian territories. The amount of which had been concluded by the Kalpian Arms Deal, an arms deal negotiated by Ambassador Ludwig Kaulitz attached to the Tyro-Redanian Embassy in Arsech, which would oversee the purchase and immediate provision of 200,000 KR.99 rifles and monthly supplies of rifle ammunition to support the growing Tyrian war effort.

That Craven Chorus

"It is my unfortunate business to inform you, my people, that our proud nation once more stands upon the brink of war with a most malevolent foe. Though I have dedicated years of my life towards efforts of peace to protect my people from burden and sacrifice. I stand before you today, to ask that we as a nation after many, many years of peace once more bear the sword of war against a foe whose malicious intrigues and denial of peaceful overture, have compelled us to take up arms in the defense of this nation's honour, dignity and ideals of justice.

Long have a craven chorus of crows and vultures sought to undermine our great union of peoples and today that craven number have made themselves known. The Itheraen Republic, whom despite the desire for peace and diplomatic outreach of my government, have embarked upon an unalterable course exhibiting the desire for the complete destruction of this nation and a burning hatred for my own being and of House Wolfram. This belligerent government whom has through dark machinations sought to tear asunder my peoples for whom I care greatly, has embarked upon criminal actions and propaganda upon our sovereign grounds inciting mischief and treason within those of my affection.

Such a state of affairs are and remain intolerable, and my government in their wisdom oversaw a last attempt to maintain noble peace upon the continent with this belligerent government through the means of a forceful warning inducing them to desist in their subversive action. This noble and just demand was refused by Itherae and their cause, founded upon the destruction of this illustrious monarchy through subversive action, has been taken up by the Veletian Empire. A nation of whom in their desire to dominant much of the world, have grown hostile to this nation, her colonies and those of whom we call friends and allies.

It is upon this solemn hour that I, as must we all, recognize our duty to defend this illustrious union of peoples of which there is no other. Only through force of arms aimed to secure our rights might our nation find lasting peace and serenity. Though it is a great task before us, it is with a most steadfast conscience that I lead us down this path to war. Upon this day I would call all of those for whom I hold affection to rally to this throne and to this nation's defense in unity and loyalty against the malevolent threat.

It is with great trust within this nation's proud armed forces and the righteousness of our cause that I know victory, and through it lasting peace, will be achieved."
