If you take it in-between, I may help you if you are a democracy. If you take it after the French revolution, I aid France and would win due to my power at that time.
I mentioned the French revolution, two major wars, and the fact that I sold most of my colonies to them. That is over half of my history edits.

He doesn't really "hold" France, he is just using it as an NPC. He doesn't for say, control it. If I would have him release a part of land, it would be either India or the North American holdings. Either way, that standard is allowed for any person to join, so you could, for say, form a giant join Russo Chinese Empire.

Go ahead and do up a regular NS if you like, or can go with the OS. It's up to you. You can define things how you like for the specifics of your chosen company, just so long as it still roughly follows along with the main line =P
