The Kingdom of Zellonia

Colonial Life

The first colony which had been settled by Zellonia in Serranthia which was named St.James named after St.James the forgiver, which had been funded by the Nervington Trading Company was congratulated by the king himself. However while it was spread far and wide the colony was a success, those who were close to the matter knew of the difficulties that had been sent in from the far outpost. As such the king commanded 10,000 men to be sent each of the colonies to help defend the position as well as provide a larger Zellonian presence. It would also be commanded to search the land for valuables which would hopefully attract new visitors.

Meanwhile the tales that have come from New Zellonia, were quite the opposite. New Zellonia was in a prime location for farming and had already began to scout the area for valuables many believed their to be hidden gems or better within the mountains however only time would tell.

The Gevär m/01 in use

Nearly a year ago when the Zello-Oslad war raged on the Zellonian army commissioned Guntherson Arms, a small time armaments factory to build a new rifle capable of competing with the continentals. However over the course the small time factory had grown due the war presence on their own shores and the increasing demand of weaponry, yet they were able to produce a weapon worthy of a Zellonian soldier. The weapon was tested for distance and tried in comparison to foreign rifles and was noted of being able to compete with them. As such the Zellonian King invited Guntherson to the royal estate for a private meeting and by the end of it the rifle was put into service.

The ZRN Remembrance

Finally, work had begun on Admiral Maguire’s masterpiece the Majestic-Class Pre-Dreadnought. The admiral now aged 58 and served more in the home office then in the field had the heart that something he had done would outlive him. Meanwhile the architects had begun their journey to tara to help them build their new pre-dreadnought and hopefully strengthen relations with the Empire of Tara.

An offering of Peace

With word spreading among the world of the continental conflict and the further escalation of the civilian casualties, the Zellonian people took time to think and the government believed it was wrong for the horrors of the Zello-Osladian war to happen once again to another nation. As such the Conrad Government sent messages to The Empire of Violette, The Republic of Itherae and the Tyre-Redanian Empire that it would stand as a mediator for any of the nations that wish for peace.

Military Prowess and Appeasement

In the wake of the Tsar of Radena illness which was announced to all great countries, the military as a sign of respect was pulled off the border of Radena and most recalled to garrison cities, however 20,000 men were sent to the mountains of northern zellonia to practice combat in the mountains specifically how to traverse them easily without worry. In other news the minister of public information set about rallying support for the empire of Tyro-Redania which was currently in conflict with a filthy republican country much like kalpia and the traitorous empire of Violette who stole 2 of the the kingdom’s prized ships and it would not be forgotten easily.

Continental overtures

The kingdom of zellonia whom only recently designed the Majestic class had an important decision to make, with the dockyards in zellonia destroyed they had no capable way of producing a ship of that magnitude. However the Empire of Tara offered to build the ship at a cost of 21 million. However many in zellonia believed it would cost a little more than 10 million if they waited for the docks. However the king had little patience and would ask the empire of Tara to lower the price to 16 million, if that agreement was met the deal would be one.

Furthermore, celebration for Gerfden in zellon were coming up for in the 3rd week of december was entirely devoted to the celebrations. Gerfden the God of Power and the sea was a dead religion having been overshadowed by the more centralized Trisdel yet he nor the week were forgotten and became a tradition ever since St James the Forgiver, whom the current king takes his namesake from said that while the future is Trisdel the past must not be forgotten and started the first celebration in zeel, Invitations were sent to the royal family of the marnish kingdoms, the former Memoital commonwealth royalty and to the Tsar of Radena and his family. The week was expected to be bigger than ever before with new and special event planned, the king had even hopped to meet his future wife there but only time would tell.

After the budget that made absolutely no sense the offical finance minister was arrested today for false report and a trial is supposed to happen soon. In other news unemployment grows and the king at 34 still has no wife.

The King knowing his own age wishes to invite the marnish and memoital royal familes to Zeel to stay at his grand manor. Some speculate it’s to get a wife with royal blood.

The Betrayal on all Fronts

When the king read the denouncement from radena outloud in front of his parliament the boos and hissing were non-stop. While the Tsardoms seemed to be friends it seems the recently failed trade negotiations have set them up as a rival. As such the tsardom even took in the filthy memoital prince he who couldn’t even manage his own country now wastes his life away in radena while somehow still causing troubles at home. In response the army of Zellonia some 60,000 strong were sent to the border and began training exercises which would be taught by older and more experience memoital generals, specifically Brigadier General Franz Vern who was a celebrated war hero of memoital and only 48 years of age.

Furthermore the ambassadors in both the marnish kingdom and kalpia were told to increase tenuous relations with the nation-states neighbors. Specifically in the marnish kingdoms where the king believe he could rally the people together against the osladian who completely ignored the marnish kingdoms. Even further in a sign of good faith and as an apology for bringing war to their steps the Zellonian kingdom sent a sum of 10 million to the government in hopes it would allow them to rebuild whatever was destroyed.

The Phoenix Budget

As the first parliament meeting was called into order, the room sat still awaiting the king’s order. He had claimed to the people that he would fix the budget which he had intended to along with his advisors. It took nearly a month to get everything in order reviewing old records seeing what damage the war had done to the country but eventually a plan was set out and on September 26th a new budget formated and new orders for trade.

The amount of coal allowed for sale on the market is reduced to 227,000 tons.
The amount of Iron allowed for sale on the market is reduced to 310,000 tons.
The amount of agricultural good on the market shall be reduced to 1,500,000 tons.
Precious metals and Machine Parts shall no longer be sold on the market. Instead they will be distributed to our own factories. (Our Precious metals will be given to Galdor’s Good’s our very own market in Zeel, while our Machine Parts will be provided to Fergin’s Industries which produces many of our very own heavy duty metals.)

Furthermore 20,000 tons of coal will be provided to the following factories
1.Galdor’s Good’s the Heavy industry factory.
2.Fergin Industries the consumer good’s factory.
3.Hopeful Speed our own automotive factory.
4.Zeel’s Beyond Seas our own shipping factory.
5.Gunther’s Guns our own armament factory.
6.Reed’s Rifles another armament factory
7.Draven’s Rails our own railroad corporation.

In Addition 20,000 tons of Iron will be provided to
1.Zeel’s Beyond Seas our own shipping factory.
2.Guntherson’s Arms our own armament factory.
3.Reed’s Rifles another armament factory
4.Galdor’s Good’s the Heavy industry factory.
5.Draven’s Rails our own railroad corporation.

Our own famers across the country specifically Farmer Manshon large corporatio will be supplied with 1,000,000 excess crops and seeds to increase our production.

Furthermore an investment of 50,000 tons of iron, 40,000 tons of coal and 21,000,000 will be used to begin construction of another shipping factory this time in Xerotith. Called James Light Harbor.

Finally, 6 million zeels will be spent to increase the number of shipyards we have and allow us to produce more ships. In addition zellonia will begin funding colonization efforts around the globle with current investments set at 50 million.

The Phoenix Navy Expands

The ZRN Viper which had been put into production shortly after the war had begun was finally finished almost a year later with two more on the way. Especially with the loss of the 2 pre-dreadnoughts to the empire of violette these new crown-class cruisers would help shape the idea of the perfect navy for a future nation that would be used world wide. In addition with the rise of oslad growing the kingdom of zellonia believe it is in need of new ships of better class and are being sent to Zeel’s Beyond Seas shipping for better ideas.

The Memoital Question

With the economic instability brought on by the war, Prince Bernard was forced to abdicate on August 19th. Nearly 3 days later King Conrad the Courageous The nickname people had begun calling him after having heard he survived an assassination attempt with the greatest military in the world. ascended to the throne of the memoital commonwealth. Though previously the memorial commonwealth was a constitutional monarchy compared to the Zellonian absolute monarchy many were unsure how things would operate. The king gave a speech on the 23th to alleviate any insecurities about the new government in the capital of Memoital in Memoial.

“People of the Memoital Commonwealth, let me be the first to officially welcome you to the Kingdom of Zellonia. While our two great countries have always bonded in the past with common goals we lead differently, it is time for that to change. As such with advice from my council. We will install a parliamentary system into the the new found Kingdom of Zellonia, it will propose and serve in an advisory capacity to the king, and together we shall run the country and manage accounts. The first of said actions will be reviewing the budget and working on fixing the economy to make Zellonia strong and stable for generations to come. Furthermore the military of memoital and zellonia will be reorganized into a singular fighting force that shall become as proud as our own navy. In conclusion I am proud to welcome you all to Zellonia and may we rule the ways.”

The speech was given thunderous applauds and would be printed in newspapers around the country.

The Phoenix Spreads its Wings

After the numerous advances made out to several countries only 2 had truly responded the great eastern neighbor the Tsardom of Radena had rejected the offer to trade rubber for Machine parts and with it the defensive pact. While sad and disheartening the economics minister Jerromy Miser understood given the circumstances.

In brighter news however, the Republic of Itherae known for their long held republican traditions had requested Naval officers to teach them for the price of a million, the Grand Admiral Jacob Tervington was thrilled and the council agreed and sent along 60 naval officers to Itherae to begin training them on combat capabilities on their very limited navy.

In addition an attempt is ordered by Ambassador Edward Revington to open up talks to kalpia about acquiring some of their rifle or specifically their rifle designs. As well as to see if kalpia would be open to any sorts of trade deals. Furthermore, with the recent aggressions on the continent overtures were made to the Empire of Violette and Tyro-Redanian Empire to see if the Kingdom of Zellonia maybe of service.

The Phoenix Parliament

On August 28th, a mere 5 days after King Conrad’s speech the Zellonian Parliament was formed. With 25 senior members from the former Memoital Commonwealth’s own parliament together with 25 members from the king’s former advisors and senior ministers. They would meet for 9 months out of every 12 to advise and discuss issues they would do it in intervals of 3 with the 4 month being a recess. However for their first meeting would last for however long it would take to fix the economy. Many believed a tax increase as well as a decrease in expenditure specifically in the naval budget. However until a full accounting of memoital was handed in nothing would be officialized.

The Liubeth Peace Conference

While peace had finally been achieved it was a hardly felt like one. Nearly a quarter of the country had been occupied. Many innocents had died, while the diplomats were able to get off relatively easy from their own enemies. It seemed the ally of Violette has demanded compensation and took zellonia’s own prized pre-dreadnoughts for themselves. The king gave a heartfelt speech to his people saying while we must always morn the lost we must look to the future and rebuild and become stronger, yet never forget.. Even worse foreign reports specifically from oslad have said “Zellonia, is now as cripplied as their own king we have beaten them like the dogs they are and if they are smart they will stay down” these reports have only infuriated the zellonian people so much so the osladian ambassador was thrown out and the embassy closed. Further people amassed outside the Violette embassy and while they didn’t cause trouble they menaced upon their [i]friend[/]

The Phoenix Rises

As previously mentioned the Liubeth Conferenced had been a poor victory yet, the memoital seeing the world change around them knew they had to find friends and agreed to a peaceful integration into the zellonian empire. They were all welcomed with open arms as the memoitals and zellonians have always been a close breed. With the zellonian skills in their ships and the memoitals handling land warfare the country will be unstoppable atleast that is the common belief. As such the memoital military staff have begun to devise ways to improve the current training regime as well as look into combining zellonian technology with the kalpian rifle that they aquired from the war.

As it’s close neighbors Oslad and Kalpia have become hated among the zellonian populace it was much agreed that zellonia would need to look further for trade and ways of goods. As such overatures were made to the Tyro-Redanian Empire, The Marnish Kingdom, The Itheraen Republic, The Tsardom of Radena and Thecia. The Foreign minister informed his ambassadors to draft proposals for trade deals specifically aiming to sell machine parts and to offer zellonian naval officers to teach the greater powers the ways of naval supremacy. To the Tsardom of Radena a specific proposal was drawn up to trade machine parts for rubber as well as to offer them some of the kalpian rifles. Along with the offer of a defensive pact.

While the king refused to bow before the kalpian dogs and the osladian monsters. He knew the cause was hopeless and the peace accord before had failed he couldn’t even achieve a singular peace as such he knew the war effort would come to a close. He sent notices to his commanders and enemy announcing the surrender of the country. Many people applauded his bravery for stopping the fight for fear of the slaughter of more innocent zellonians even though he knew the terms wouldn’t be light. Yet when the peace delegation sent him what the kalpians and osladians wanted he nearly choked and refused it there. He sent word to his team to request that their neighbors to the east the Tsardom of Radena be brought into negotiate or the Empire of Violette whichever the kalpian and osladians would accept. Until the kalpians and osladians accepted or denied the intervention the peace would stall.

On June 5th with the ceasefire called off and the king and his attendants returning from the peace accords that had broken down when oslad gained nothing from their hard work. The king demanded that men that had been captured and tried be hung immediately. So it began. Meanwhile the general who commanded the operation was still undergoing intense treatment for information on the kalpian forces and their larger plan.

With the king and his entourage finally returning they set about presenting what happened to the press. As it turned out the kalpians and oslading were far from friends. In fact it seemed they were fighting each other for whatever could be gained. Even worse when things reached a boiling point the osladian prime minister refused to speak and when he noticed they were gaining little to nothing. Walked out of the room demanding the war to continue, the king while surprised believed the kalpians could be reasoned with but as they refused to accept their prisoners back amongst other things walked as well. In this horrifying news it seems the war continues only it seems it will end in blood for no more peace talks seem open until the others are dead. As such pleas from all of zellonia have begun to great nations such as the empire of tara or empire of violette for intervention in hopes of a white peace and that things may return to what they once were.

With high command finally realizing the situation at hand knew they required reinforcements. They sent notice to the memoital commonwealth for help as well as a detailed plan on what their men would be used for. Furthermore orders were sent to vorl on new objectives. Meanwhile the entrenched army on the marnish border couldn’t be sent any news for fears or interception as such the men sat and hoped general hawkthrone would break out and move on.

Kalpian Trials

After the negative response from the kalpian government the trials for the some 5,000 prisoners of war began today. With atleast 300 having been charged so far all sentenced to death for assassination of our glorious King James. Though it’s been said that the hangings won’t be carried out till all men have been tried. Though with 300 already charged in only 3 days it won’t be long before the kalpian pigs are all dead.

Oh kayla, how it’s been near a year since I last saw you and Kevin and our baby Lura. How I hope you are all safe. I heard about the damn kalpian attacks on zeel and worried for you and the kids safety. How I wish this war would finally end and I could return to you. I’ve heard rumors of an ensuing ceasefire before peace talks begin I hope their true and I’ll be able to see you soon. Though I can’t wait to tell you all the stories I’ve heard from the young kids I’ve commanded and of the sights I’ve seen in vorl. I swear when this war is over we’ll take a vacation here and I can show you the scenes as they were. But fear not for me, we’ve begun entrenching and making this place a fortress and with the supply lines by sea and our naval support we have nothing to fear. The assult from the osladians appear to be starting, I’ll write to you again and give the children my love.

Reports have come in from the judicial office that the 5 thousand and some kalpian prisoners will be tried by the highest court in all of zellonia for assassination. However the foreign office has stated that word is being sent to kalpia that in return for a white peace all prisoners will be returned unharmed. The judges will await a month for a response from the kalpian republic should there be no response or zellonia be fully ignored the trials will commence.

Dearest May,

I hope this letter finds you in far better care than my own. This harsh winter has taken it’s toll out on us. Especially those wounded in the field, for some night espesially during this damn osladian offensive I can hear the men call out for help or be put out of the misery. Sadly with the osladian lines so far back and my comrades and I being told to conserve ammo have to hear the wails of the dead throughout the night and early day before they’ve finally submitted to the pain or have frozen over.

Yet what’s even worse then the damned winter nights is the orders my damn lieutenant calls out. He expects day in and day out to hold the line against the far better equipped osladian forces. He has us barely use any coverage and because of the zellonian chain of command permit little room for error we must do as we are told. Even when less than half of the division is armed and instead must be ready to pick up a rifle at a moment's notice. Oh how I’ve seen how many times the osladians have pushed and while we’re able to push them back due to the harsh conditions, I know that it is truly because of our men and what we’re fighting for. As I can see in all of the men around me the tenacity we are to save our families and loved ones for if we fail here only more burnings and death will come for we remember Nervington and shall never soon forget.

Finally my lovely May I hope you are well and continue to write me, for your letters and thoughts have kept me going all this time and without them I feel I wouldn’t truly know what I’d be fighting for. Well the osladian bombardment is starting again we must be prepared. Write me soon.

General Harrington’s Tent

The general rubbed his eyes as he looked over the map, the very same he’s been looking at for hours now, the only difference is the silence as with nightfall the osladian offensive cease which allows for some R&R. The Genera had heard reports of faltering at the southern front and now in the north this month long offensive has put his men on overdrive. Something would have to be done to relieve the men and seeing as the Zellonian Royal Navy has been of no help in cutting off supplies it would come down to Zellonian might and strategy that would be needed to win this war. It was at that moment that Captain Cutler came through the tent. With the proper respect the captain took off his hat and gave a salute before cutting to the chase. “General,” The captain sighed “I know things look down but I may have a solution.” The captain walked up to the map and began pointing at positions. “Sir, I believe if we stationed men along here and pulled from here to rein force we maybe able to keep our fighting chance.” The General shook his head. “I was thinking of something far more risky. If we pulled from here and moved along here we’d be able catch them by surprise no?” the captain eyes widened “Sir, you wouldn’t risk that would you men would be slaughtered.” The general looked at the captain dead in the eyes “We need to win this war captain, I believe this will work prepare the men. Pick the finest for this task come april we move.” The captain saluted and rushed out to make the preparations while the general wrote to Hawkthrone.
